The circumstellar disk and wide-orbit companion candidates arund T-Tauri Star

  • We prensent the near-infrared(NIR) images of the asymmetric circumstellar disk around a T-Tauri star in the ${\rho}$ Ophiuchi star-forming region, and two faint stellar objects around central star. These results were obtainted with the Subaru Telescope with HiCIAO(the High-Contrast Instrument with Adaptive Optics) and IRCS(the InfraRed Camera and Spectrograph). The disk shows center-offset from the star and a strong morphological asymmetry along both the major and minor axis. The physical conditions in the disk is derived from the infrared visibilites results and the complete spectral energy distribution using HOCHUNK3D, Monte-Carlo radiative transfer code. Two companion candidates are separated by 11.6 arcsec(~1450 au at 125 parsec) and 4.34 arcsec(~540 au at 125 parsec). This could be the first case, which imaged both of planetary mass companions and disk around same star. We discuss physical structures of the disk, and probablity that two candidates are real companions.

SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF ENERGETIC NEUTRAL ATOM STORM ON OCTOBER 3, 2001

  • We have studied energetic neutral atom (ENA) disturbances during the magnetic storm main phase that occurred on October 3,2001, using the ENA data from the HENA instrument onboard the IMAGE spacecraft. We find that the main phase is characterized by five ENA enhancement events that occurred quasi-periodically. The repetitive ENA enhancements are most significant in the highest energy (138-222 keV) oxygen channel and become less significant for hydrogen and in lower energies. Also they are separated by ${\sim}1.2$ to ${\sim}1.7$ hrs, which is well below an average period usually seen for other repetitive injection events.

  • KEPCO has a plan to construct TRF (tritium removal facility) in wolsong nuclear power plant site by 2005. In advance of WTRF construction, the pilot plant was installed at KEPRI in order to show process reliability of WTRF. The main processes of this pilot plant are LPCE(liquid phase catalytic exchange) and CD (cryogenic distillation). Deuterium is separated from heavy water in LPCE process and concentrated in CD process. CD process consists of cold box, where are a distillation column and heat exchangers, vacuum system, cryogenic refrigerant supply system and instrument & control system. The experience of the pilot plant will be used in WTRF design review, operating procedure revision and fundamental education for the operators.

Wide-orbit companion candidates and Stellar Disk around T-Tauri Star

  • Two substellar companion candidates with planetary mass, around a T-Tauri star in the ${\rho}$ Ophiuchi star-forming region, are discovered by results of Subaru Telescope's near-infrared imaging. Candidates are separated by 1400au and 500au. If these candidates were real companions, they are the widest-orbit and the lowest mass planetary-mass companions(PMCs) candidates. This discovery may suggest that PMCs form via extreme case of cloud core fragmentation for multiple stars. And also stellar disk are imaged by HiCIAO, hight contrast instrument for exoplanets and disks, with Subaru Telescope. This could be the first case, which imaged both of planetary mass companions and disk around same star. Even two companions candidates are not bounded around the star, they still could be one of the lowest mass objects. In this presentation, I will discuss about observations and confirmations of these objects, and the latest results about their properties.

폐플라스틱의 재활용에 관한 연구 (Studies on Recycling Technology Wasted Plastic)

  • The wasted plastic PC/ABS retainer, polyurethane foam (PUF) and vinyl (PVC) skin. In order to investigate the recycling process, the multi-layered instrument panel Each of materials separated was shredded and crushed to create many small particles respectively. The separation of the foam and skin and retainer of zigzagged air blower. Pilot tests performed at the equipment yielded 98.8% by weight of the available PVC and 99.3% by weight of the available PC/ABS respectively. Secondly, the thermal stabilizer and the compatabilizer have been used to improve the physical propertied of recycled materials.. The properties of recycled PVC materials resulted in about 50% compared to that of virgin materials after treatment by Pb-St thermal stabilizer. In addition, the properties of recycled PC/ABS materials was also obtained about 80% compared to that of virgn materials after treatment by PMMA compatabilizer.

Precise Braking Torque Control for Momentum Flywheels Based on a Singular Perturbation Analysis

  • Momentum flywheels are widely applied for the generation of small and precise torque for the attitude control and inertial stabilization of satellites and space stations. Due to its inherited system nonlinearity, the tracking performance of the flywheel torque/speed in dynamic/plug braking operations is limited when a conventional controller is employed. To take advantage of the well-separated two-time-scale quantities of a flywheel driving system, the singular perturbation technique is adopted to improve the torque tracking performance. In addition, the composite control law, which combines slow- and fast- dynamic portions, is derived for flywheel driving systems. Furthermore, a novel control strategy for plug braking dynamics, which considers couplings between the Buck converter and the three-phase inverter load, is designed with easy implementation. Finally, experimental results are presented to demonstrate the correctness of the analysis and the superiority of the proposed methods.

Investigation of the effects of common and separate ground systems in wireless power transfer

  • This article presents an investigation of the effects on a grounding system of wireless power transfer (WPT) when transmitting over relatively far distances, that is, up to 1.25 m. Conventional two-coil WPT systems are sufficiently commercialized in strong coupling range, but it is important to accomplish the long-range WPT in weak coupling range for further various applications. This system depends on the coupling effect between the two coils that the grounds of the transmitting and receiving coils should be completely separated. However, when evaluating the performance of two-coil systems with the instrument consisting of two ports and one common ground, undesirable problems occur in weak coupling ranges, for example, obtaining disagreeable transmission efficiency and degrading system stability/reliability. We investigate the problems of the leakage power from common ground systems and provide a practical solution to obtain a reliable WPT system by using an isolation transformer. The usefulness of this approach is that it is possible to achieve the stability of the system with relatively far transmitting distances and to determine the exact transmission efficiency.

주거공간 에어로 시스템 배치에 관한 화재시뮬레이션 연구 (A Study on Fire Dynamics Simulation on the Arrangement of Aero System in the Residential)

  • 연구목적: '에어로 시스템'이란 제품을 개발하였으며, 화재 특성상 신속한 감지가 무엇보다 중요함으로 개발하고 있는 제품을 주거 공간 어느 지점에 배치를 하였을 때 신속하게 감지를 할 수 있는지 화재 시뮬레이션을 통해 확인하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 18평형의 주거 공간에서 화재시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 화재 환경이 빨리 노출되는 지점을 찾고자 침실, 거실 별로 측정점을 높이 0.6m, 1.5m 지점으로 설치하여 빨리 감지 되는 지점을 확인하였다. 연구결과: 대부분 1.5m 지점으로 설정한 온도 및 일산화탄소 센서가 기준 치에 빨리 감지 되는 지점을 확인하였다. 결론: 소화모듈과 AQI모듈이 분리된 제품을 벽에 부착형으로 설치할 경우 화재 감지가 상대적으로 빠른 것으로 확인되었다.

The Use of Rasch Model in Developing a Short Form Based on Self-Reported Activity Measure for Low Back Pain

  • For maintaining adequate psychometric properties when reducing the number of items from an instrument, item level psychometrics is crucial. Strategies such as low item correlation or factor loadings, using classical test theory, have traditionally been advocated. The purpose of this study is to describe the development of a new short form assessing the impact of low back pain on physical activity. Rasch measurement model has been applied to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health Activity Measure (ICF-AM). One hundred and one individuals with low back pain aged 19-89 years (mean age: $48.1{\pm}17.3$) who live in the community were participated in the study. Twenty-seven items of lifting/carrying construct of the ICF-AM were analyzed. Ten items were selected from the construct to create a short form. Item elimination criteria include: 1) high or low mean square (out of the range: .6-1.4 for the fit statistics), 2) similar item calibrations to adjacent items, 3) person separation value, and item-person map for potential gap in person ability continuum. All 10 items of the short form fit to the Rasch model except one item (i.e., carrying toddler on back). Despite its high infit and outfit statistics (1.90/2.17), the item had to be reinstated due to potential gaps at the upper extreme of person ability level. The short form had a slightly better spread of person ability continuum compared to the entire set of item. The created short form separated individuals with low back pain into nearly 4 groups, while the entire set of items separated the individuals into 6 groups. The findings prompted multidimensional models for better explanation of the lifting/carrying domain. The item level psychometrics based on the Rasch model can be useful in developing short forms with rationally retained items.

부버의 종교적 사회주의와 교육 (Martin Buber's Religious Socialism and Education)

  • 본 연구는 유신론적 실존주의자인 마르틴 부버(Martin Buber, 1878~1965)의 종교적 사회주의와 교육의 관계를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 부버는 문제가 만연한 현대 자본주의 사회의 대안으로 종교적 사회주의를 제시했다. 부버의 종교적 사회주의는 하시디즘의 공동체주의에 뿌리를 두고 있다. 부버는 중앙집권화된 국가기구에 기반을 둔 사회주의가 아니라, 분권화된 연합들에 기반을 둔 사회주의가 참다운 사회주의라고 여겼다. 이러한 사회주의의 건설에는 인간의 의지와 정신이 핵심적이고, 그래서 교육이 중요한 역할을 수행하게 된다. 부버에 따르면 교육과 교육학은 공동체(진정한 사회주의 사회) 건설을 목적으로 함으로써 현대사회의 문제를 타개하는 데에 기여하는 것이 되어야 한다. 중요한 것은, 부버에게는 개인의 인격적 성장을 도모하는 교육과 진정한 공동체를 향하는 교육이 분리된 것이 아니라 하나로 통합되어 있다는 점이다. 즉 교육은 사회변혁을 위해 핵심적인 역할을 함에도 불구하고, 사회변혁을 위한 도구에 머무르지 않는다. 부버에 따르면 교육은 사회변혁의 도구가 되지 않으면서도 사회변혁에 기여할 수 있는 것이다. 이는 사회변혁 과정에서 교육의 역할을 강조하는 상당수 사회주의자들에게서 교육이 다분히 도구적으로 여겨지는 것과 대비되는 지점이다. 이러한 부버의 입장은, 현대사회의 문제를 해결하는 데에 교육이 기여하기를 바라는 많은 교육자들과 교육학자들에게 큰 시사점을 준다.
