Performance evaluation of bubble pump used on solar water heating system

  • The application analysis of bubble pump on the domestic solar water heater system is presented. The system investigated in this study is a passive device, self pumping and self regulating. It was test to use the bubble pump on solar water heater system. The test experiment has been taken on the existed vacuum tube about the efficiency, working fluid temperature and pressure and circulated power. In order to check the working temperature and working pressure effectively, the bubble pump was test separated from the solar water heater. The equipment consists of the bubble pump, heater and heat exchanger. The main structure of bubble pump was design depend on the character of two phase flow. The complete system was instrumented to measure pressures, temperatures and their relationship with the solar radiation intensity. The theory analysis of design bubble pump has been given and the experiment result analysis has been included in the paper.

전동차용 접지브러쉬 편중마모에 대한 해석 (Analsis of Preponderant Wear of Earth Brush for an Electrical Multiple Units(EMUs))

  • Earth brush for electrical multiple units(EMUs) is a device through which the current of the EMU load's consumed power fed from the DC 1,500V overhead line (or from the AC 25.000V catenary) flows via axle to the rail(ground) and which prevents the electric corrosion of the axle bearings by preventing the current flow to the axle bearings caused by electric potential from the magnetic field when the bearings rotate together with the earthing function when a thunderbolt falls or a surge comes. The earth brush wear rates among cars, however, shows quite differences when the earth brushes after being separated from the holders are measured with vernier callipers every 6 months of maintenance period. Main causes of the earth brush wear are divided as mechanical, electric arc and electrical one, and the factors can be running speed, current, harmonics, connection state. spring tension, earth brush material, lubricant and so on. but only the earth brushes of the motor(M1) car show the highest wear rate and moreover maintenance difficulty occurs because of the wear rate differences among e earth brushes in one holder. The reason for these preponderant wear comes from the design concept of making preponderant current flow to some particular earth brushes and moreover the heat generated by the harmonics when the inverter starts to operate accelerate the wear. By defining these causes through experiments. I hope that the found results would be helpful for the future EMU design, safety, economy and maintenance.

컬러 입력 영상을 갖는 Convolutional Neural Networks를 이용한 QFN 납땜 불량 검출 (QFN Solder Defect Detection Using Convolutional Neural Networks with Color Input Images)

  • QFN (Quad Flat No-leads Package) is one of the SMD (Surface Mount Device). Since there is no lead in QFN, there are many defects on solder. Therefore, we propose an efficient mechanism for QFN solder defect detection at this paper. For this, we employ Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) of the Machine Learning algorithm. QFN solder's color multi-layer images are used to train CNN. Since these images are 3-channel color images, they have a problem with applying to CNN. To solve this problem, we used each 1-channel grayscale image (Red, Green, Blue) that was separated from 3-channel color images. We were able to detect QFN solder defects by using this CNN. In this paper, it is shown that the CNN is superior to the conventional multi-layer neural networks in detecting QFN solder defects. Later, further research is needed to detect other QFN.

  • This paper proposes an autonomous fault determination, fault zone isolation and fault restoration strategy based on the ethernet communication as a new attempt to solve the problem the of the existing central control method. In proposed method, The FRTU(Feeder Remote Terminal Unit)s on the feeder determines autonomously where the faulted zone is by exchanging the voltage and current information with neighbor FRTUs based on the network communication, and then separates the faulted zone in an nil-voltage status to make the protective device to reclose successively. In particular, the minimization of outage time and relational load balancing is archived by each interconnection switch which determines autonomously the load zone to be allocated among those zones after the sound outage zones was separated individually. Finally, to show effectiveness of the proposed fault restoration strategy, the several fault cases are simulated for the test distribution system, and the load balancing index of the proposed solution is compared with all of feasible solutions.

  • Electrical double-layer capacitor (EDLC) is an electrochemical energy storage device in which electric charges only accumulated by a pure electrostatic attraction force are stored on the electrolyte-electrode interface in a form of double layer and separated by the electrolyte. The composite was prepared by mixing nanosize $TiO_2$ and activated carbon through a means of ultrasonic vibration in ethanol solution for 30 min in various mass ratios of $AC:TiO_2$ to form activated carbone-semiconducting oxide composites. Either 1.0 M $LiClO_4/EC-DEC$ or $Et_4NBF_4$/EC-DEC was used as the electrolyte. It was found that with modification of $TiO_2$, the specific capacitance of activated carbon measured at $1mA/cm^2$ was increased from 40 to 50 F/g. This method is unique in comparison the conventional method because it uses semiconducting TiO2 other than electrochemically active materials such as $RuO_2$. The increase in specific capacitance could be attributed to the decrease in electric polarization, caused by the introduction of $RuO_2$.

사용후핵연료봉 이송 Capsule의 개발 (Development of Transportation Capsule for Spent Nuclear Fuel Rod Cuts)

  • In the ACPF(Advanced spent nuclear fuel Conditioning Process Facility), the spent fuel pellets which are highly radioactive materials are separated with its clad and are fed into the next conditioning process. For this, at the other facility called PIEF(Post Irradiation Examination Facility) a spent fuel rod, 3.5 m long, is cut by 25 cm long which is suitable length fur the decladding process. These rod-cuts are packed into the capsule and are moved to the ACPF. Once the capsule is unloaded in the ACPF, the rod-cut is taken out one-by-one from the capsule and installed on the decladding device. In these processes, the crushed spent fuel pellet can be scattered inside the facilities and thus it contaminate the hot cell. In this paper, we developed the specially designed capsule which prevents the pellets scattering and remarkably reduces the leading and unloading time of the rod-cuts.

Testing of Load Capacity of a Foil Thrust Bearing

  • In this study, the performance of foil thrust bearings was investigated by performing bearing take-off and load capacity tests, using an in-house designed and manufactured vertical bearing test rig. The mean take-off rotational speed and maximum load capacity of the bearing specimen were ~18,000 rpm and ~80 kPa, respectively. The vertical bearing test rig was observed to yield higher coefficients of friction and frictional torques than a horizontal bearing test rig under identical test conditions. This was a result of its structural characteristics, in that the bearing specimen is placed atop the thrust runner, which keeps it from being separated from the runner after the bearing take-off. In addition, bearing take-off was observed at a higher runner rotational speed as this structure keeps air from flowing between the top foil and runner surfaces, which requires a higher runner speed. The parallel alignment between the bearing specimen and runner surfaces can be maintained within a certain range more easily in a vertical test rig than in a horizontal test rig. Because of these advantages, Korean Industrial Standard, KS B 2060, recommends a vertical bearing test rig as the standard test device for foil thrust bearings.

뇌 보호시스템의 대공무기체계 지상시설 적용에 대한 고찰 (Review about the Lightning Protection System for Ground Facilities of Anti-aircraft Weapons System)

  • Recently, the incidence of lightning in Korea has been increasing more and more. The damage caused by lightning is also getting worse. Lightning protection system is a prerequisite, not a sufficient condition. Considering the characteristics of lightning, there is a high frequency of lightning strikes in highlands. So, high grades of LPS should be applied to ground facilities of anti-aircraft weapons systems. 4-Level LPS was applied on groung facilities of anti-aircraft weapons system based on lightning incidence rate in past. There are some possibilities of damage from lightning in anti-aircraft weapons system. So, we have to readjust the LPS level with grounding, lightning rods and surge protect device based on lightning incidence rate in now days. Propose 2-level LPS and design with lightning rods, surge protector, separated grounding in this paper.

메타버스 리얼리티를 위한 공유 모빌리티 기반 국부적 미세먼지 관측 기술 연구 (A Study on the Local Particulate Matter Monitoring Technology using Shared-Use Mobilities for Metaverse Reality)

  • In this study, we developed a 'shared-use mobility'-mounted local particulate matter monitoring terminal technology to measure the actual particulate matter concentration around me. As a mobile terminal device in the form of an IoT sensor platform, it is designed to be separated into a control module and a sensor module to minimize interference between sensors and to consider the optimal observation position of each sensor. As a result of the field test, it was confirmed that particulate matter was locally different depending on time and space even within the same area. In addition, it was confirmed that the concentration of particulate matter in the relevant section differed by up to 100 times compared to the surrounding area due to specific sources of particulate matter such as unpaved roads. In addition, we positively reviewed the applicability of the service in the real-time metaverse environment using this result. Through technological advancement and application of multiple shared-use mobilities, we expect to be able to provide new services for practical smart city air environment monitoring, such as localized particulate matter information, air pollution event information, and identification of causes of particulate matter.

가소화된 Poly(vinyl chloride)-g-Poly(oxyethylene methacrylate) 가지형 고분자 전해질막 제조 및 분석 (Preparation and Characterization of Plasticized Poly(vinyl chloride)-g-Poly(oxyethylene methacrylate) Graft Copolymer Electrolyte Membranes)

  • Poly(vinyl chloride)-g-poly(oxyethylene methacrylate) (PVC-g-POEM) 가지형 공중합체를 원자전달라디칼 중합을 통해 합성하여 전기변색소자의 전해질에 적용하였다. 가소화된 고분자 전해질은 가소제로서 propylene carbonate (PC)/ethylene carbonate (EC) 혼합물을 도입하여 제조하였으며, Lithium tetrafluoroborate ($LiBF_4$), lithium perchlorate ($LiClO_4$), lithium iodide (LiI) and lithium bistrifluoromethanesulfonimide (LiTFSI)를 사용하여 염의 종류에 따른 영향을 조사하였다. 광각 x-선 산란(WAXS)과 시차주사 열량법(DSC) 측정 결과 고분자 전해질의 구조와 유리전이온도($T_g$)가 변하였고, 이는 POEM 내의 에테르의 산소와 리튬염 사이의 상호작용으로 인해 변했다는 것을 FT-IR 분광법을 통하여 확인하였다. 투과전자현미경(TEM) 측정 결과 PVC-g-POEM 가지형 공중합체의 미세상분리 구조가 PC/EC와 리튬염의 도입에도 변하지 않는 것을 관찰하였다. 가소화된 고분자 전해질은 poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) 전도성 고분자를 이용한 전기변색소자에 적용되었다.
