하기(夏期) 무의촌진료(無醫村診療)에서 나타난 우리 나라 일부(一部) 농촌주민(農村住民) 의 질병양상(疾病樣相) (An Analytical Study on the Disease Pattern of a Rural Population in Korea)

  • This study was made with 1394 clinical records obtained by a mobile charity health team in a rural Korea for 10 days from July 23 to Aug. 1, 1977 to see the disease pattern of the rural population in Korea. The health team consisted of 7 physicians in different clinical departments of the St. Mary's Hospital tried to cover as many as patients in that area by giving full informations and instructions before starting health services. which supposed to minimize the omissions of patients visits in that area. The proportion of each disease as well as its order in terms of the number of patients was reviewed by matching with age and sex distribution of patients, and with the duration of illness (complaints). Major findings obtained in this analysis were as follows; 1. Among 1394 patients, 536 (38.5%) was male and 858(61.5%) was female. As to the age distribution of the patients. those who are in the age group of 10-19 showed the highest proportion of 15.6% and those who are in the age group of 5-9 and 40-49 was the next with the proportion of 15.4% and 15.2% respectively. 2. The most prevalent cause of general morbidity were diseases of digestive system, diseases of nervous system and sensory organs, diseases of respiratory system, and diseases of skin and subcutaneous tissue in order. And their proportions among all patients were 21.8%, 20.7%, 14.5%, and 12.4% in respectively. The order of the diseases ranked by the number of patiens was slightly different in female population from that of total population, i. e. diseases of nervous system and sensory organs was the first. diseases of digestive system was the second, and the diseases of circulatory system was the third. 3. 23.2% of all patients were found to have had symptoms relating to their illness for more or less 5 years, and 18.3%, for more or less 6 months. Looking at the duration of illness by diseases, 28.6% of digestive tract disease patients and had the relating symptoms for about 1 week while 24.3% had had the symptoms for about 5 years, and in diseases of nervous system and and sensory organs, many(33.7%) had had symptoms for relatively long period (more than one year). On the other hand, in diseases of respiratory system, those who had had the relating symptoms for about 1 month was 24.3 % among all patients in this category and those who had had the symptoms for less than 1 week was 32.2%. 4. The duration of illness (complaints) was longer in females than in males and shorter in younger age groups than in older age groups.

  • 본 논문은 가상세계를 다루는 AR/VR 콘텐츠의 현실감 향상을 위한 몰입 요소를 연구한다. 이를 위해 선행적으로 몰입감 가상세계와 가상현실의 차이와 특징을 정리하였으며, 현재까지 개발된 가상세계의 현실감을 만들기 위한 몰입 요소에 대한 분석을 진행하였다. 몰입 요소를 감각 기관 중심으로 분류하여 크게 시각, 지각, 촉각, 청각 등의 감각적 몰입 요소와 기술적 몰입 요소를 나누어 연구하였으며, 이 요소 간의 상관관계를 살펴 몰입감 향상을 위한 콘텐츠 설계의 기준을 제한한다.

  • Hearing organs have unique characteristics and have a role in processing external sensory signals. Sensory hair cells and nerve fibers in the organ of Corti can be damaged by various causes and they do not regenerate themselves. Medication used for clinical treatment for the inner ear is limited due to the anatomical structure of the inner ear. Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a therapeutic approach that uses various sources of light and the success of PBM therapy is highly reliant on the parameters of the light sources. The positive effects of PBM have been reported in various clinical fields. This paper summarizes the previously reported research on PBM for the treatment of hearing damage in animal models.

The Anatomy and Histoarchitecture of the Olfactory Organ in the Korean Flat-Headed Goby Luciogobius guttatus (Pisces; Gobiidae)

  • The histology and anatomy of the olfactory organ in Luciogobius guttatus was investigated using a light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The paired olfactory organs in the dorsal part of the snout are situated in between the upper lip and the eyes. They consist of two nostrils, one anterior and the other posterior openings, and a single olfactory cavity. The anterior nostril, an incurrent opening, forms a short tubular structure from the skin. The posterior nostril, an excurrent opening, forms a circular structure opened to the exterior. The distributional pattern of the sensory epithelium is a continuous type. The sensory epithelium with numerous-motile cilia is made up of receptor cells, supporting cells, basal cells, and mucous cells. In contrast, the non-sensory epithelium is comprised of stratified epithelial cells and two types of mucous cells, acidic and neutral cells. The cilia number of the receptor cell is in range of 3 to 4 units. Such results in L. guttatus may reflect its ecological habit and microhabitat in the tidal zone with a periodic tide.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 어류 옆줄(측선)이 수온, 수압, 수류 및 음파 등을 측정한다고 알려진 것을 직접 실험을 통해 확인하여, 어류 옆줄의 물리적 자극을 감지함을 확인하였다. 어류 옆줄 감각기능 실험연구 후 어류 옆줄이 물리적 자극을 감지하는 우수성을 확인하기 위해 옆줄 조직을 확대 분석하였으며, 측공과 측공관의 형태를 3D프린터로 제작하여 옆줄 교구 제작을 실현하였다. 옆줄 교구를 수중에서 물리적 자극인 음파를 측정함으로써 증폭 효과를 확인하였고, 이를 통해 어류 옆줄이 생명공학적으로 우수한 감각기관임을 증명하였다.

Mild stimulation of stomach 36 acupuncture point by organic nanoscale SP6 patch improves cellular physiologic functional status of different organs

  • Acupuncture works by stimulating peripheral sensory nerves and their endings causing an increase in cutaneous blood flow and microcirculation, as well as release of neurotransmitters, neuropeptides, and hormones. SP6 Patch is a nanoscale nontransdermal device that mildly stimulates Stomach 36 (zusanli) and other acupuncture points. As stimulation of these points has been indicated to have an effect on hypothalamic function, it is of great research interest to investigate the effect of SP6 Patch on the physiology of organs that are affected by hypothalamic regulation. Bioelectrical tissue impedance data indicative of cellular physiologic organ function, using an Electro Interstitial Scan (EIS) system, were acquired from hypothalamus, pancreas, liver, intestines, kidneys, thyroid and adrenal glands in 10 (1 male, 9 females) volunteers while wearing the SP6 Patch daily for 1 week. EIS testing was performed at baseline with no patch, 30 min after wearing the patch, and after wearing the patch 12 h/day for 1 week. Subjects were instructed to keep well hydrated during the study period. All subjects served as their own control. The hypothesis was: The SP6 Patch worn 12 h/day on the Stomach 36 acupuncture point for 1 week, may significantly improve cellular physiologic functional status of different organs measured by EIS. All tested organs achieved significant improvement in their functional physiologic status after wearing the SP6 Pach 12 h/day for 1 week compared to baseline with an overall average statistical power > 89%. Based upon these results the hypothesis was accepted as true.

거미의 감각기관을 모사한 초민감 균열기반 진동압력센서 (Ultrasensitive Crack-based Mechanosensor Inspired by Spider's Sensory Organ)

  • 거미는 진동감각기관을 통하여 미세한 진동까지도 감지해낸다. 뛰어난 진동 감지 능력을 활용해 먹이나 포식자가 발생시키는 진동을 감지하여 공격을 계획하거나 위협을 파악하며 생존에 활용한다. 본 논문은 거미의 진동감각기관을 모사하여 개발된 초민감 진동압력센서에 대해 기술한다. 거미가 진동을 감지하는데 사용하는 감각기관에 위치한 작은 틈에 착안하여 센서에 균열을 생성하였고, 균열의 깊이를 제어하여 외부로부터 오는 압력이나 진동을 매우 민감하게 감지할 수 있는 센서를 개발하였다. 이 센서는 10 N의 인장응력을 적용하여 2%의 변형률에서 게이지 계수가 16000에 도달한다. 이는 높은 신호대잡음비를 가져 정확하게 원하는 진동을 인식할 수 있는 소자로서 외력(압력, 진동)과 생체 신호측정 등 다양한 평가를 통해 센서의 높은 민감도를 증명하였다. 이를 통하여 생체모사 기술을 활용한 새로운 센서의 개발 및 다양한 산업 분야로의 응용 가능성을 제시한다.

Selective and Random Patterning of Programmed Cell Death in Zebrafish Embryonic Development

  • Programmed cell death (PCD) is thought as a well-controlled process by which unwanted cells are selectively eliminated. During the last decade many researches have elucidated molecules and their interactions involved in cell death by using largely in vitro induction of cell death or survival signals in a more defined manner, While these critical information and novel findings provide us with clearer understanding of mechanisms underlying cell death, it does by no means explain how PCD occurs and which cells or tissues are affected during normal embryonic development in vivo. In this study, we used zebrafish to examine whether the PCD is occurring selectively or randomly in developing embryos by whole mount in situ TUNEL analysis with specific markers for neural cells. The result revealed that the degree and distribution of TUNEL staining varied considerably throughout gastrulation stage, and there was also a number of TUNEL-negative embryos. Most of TUNEL-positive cells were scattered randomly throughout the blastoderm. During the gastrulation stage about 75 % of the embryos analyzed exhibited more than 5 TUNEL-positive cells. As the dorsal epiblast begins to thicken rather abruptly near the end of gastrulation, TUNEL-positive cells were mainly located along the dorsal side. Although there were some variations in TUNEL staining during segmentation and pharyngeal stages, TUNEL staining continued to be localized to the central nervous system, and was also detected in the sensory organs, trigeminal ganglions, and the primary sensory neurons. High levels of the cell death in developing brain between 20-somite and prim-6 stages are thought to play a role in the morphogenesis and organization of the brain. At prim-16 stage, cell death is considerably reduced in the brain region. Dying cells are mainly localized to the prospective brain region where ectodermal cells are about to initiate neurogenesis. As development progressed, high levels and more reproducible patterns of cell death were observed in the developing nervous system. Intensive TUNEL staining was restricted to the trigeminal ganglions, the primary sensory neurons, and sensory organs, such as olfactory pits and otic vesicles. Thus, PCD patterning in zebrafish embryos occurs randomly at early stages and becomes restricted to certain region of the embryos. The spatio-temporal pattern of PCD during the early embryonic development in zebrafish will provide basic information for further studies to elucidate genes involved in. regulation of PCD largely unknown in vivo during vertebrate embryogenesis.

한국산 날개망둑 Favonigobius gymnauchen (Pisces, Gobiidae) 후각기관의 해부 및 조직학적 연구 (The Anatomy and Histology of the Olfactory Organ in the Korean Sand Goby Favonigobius gymnauchen (Pisces, Gobiidae))

  • 한국산 날개망둑 Favonigobius gymnauchen 후각기관은 2015년 7월과 8월 사이 전라북도 부안군 변산면 격포리의 조간대에서 채집된 개체들을 대상으로 실체현미경, 광학현미경 그리고 주사전자현미경을 이용하여 해부학 및 조직학적 특징들을 조사하였다. 후각기관은 두부 주둥이 위 좌우로 한 쌍이 존재하며, 전비공과 후비공, 한개의 비강, 두 개의 비낭, 후신경, 그리고 후구로 구성되었다. 비강 내 감각상피는 연결성 유형의 분포를 보였으며, 섬모성 감각세포만을 가지고 있었고, 감각세포, 지지세포, 기저세포들로 구성되었다. 비감각상피는 층상상피세포들로 구성되었으며, 표면에 많은 점액공을 가지고 있었다. 따라서 이러한 후각기관의 특징들은 연안지역 조수 웅덩이와 수심이 얕은 조간대의 생태적 서식처와 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 여겨진다.

웹 기반 환경에서 질병 진단을 위한 얼굴형 추출 및 설색 분석 (Extraction of Face Type and Tongue Color Analysis for Diseases Diagnosis in Web-Based Environments)

  • 본 논문에서는 웹 기반의 의료 정보를 제공하기 위한 한방 진단 시스템 중 얼굴형 및 혀 영역 추출, 설색 분석 방법에 대해 제안한다. 이는 초 고령화 사회를 맞아 의료 혜택의 대중화와 보편화가 사회적 요구 사항으로 대두되고 있으며 이를 IT 기술로 구현하기 위해 웹 기반의 망진 및 설진을 이용한 의료 정보를 제공하는 시스템을 구축하고자 한다. 통상 인체의 생체 신호를 반영하여 나타내어 주는 곳은 홍채나 혀, 오관 등이 있다. 이 중 본 논문은 개발하고자 하는 웹 기반의 질병 진단 중 관형과 찰색을 위한 얼굴형의 분류, 오관 영역의 주출과 영양분할 그리고 인간의 생체 신호가 집약적으로 나타나 있는 혀에 대해 설색을 추출하는 방법 등에 대해 제안하고자 한다. 끝으로 실험에 의해 제안한 방법의 유용성을 입증하고자 한다.
