Data Augmentation using a Kernel Density Estimation for Motion Recognition Applications (움직임 인식응용을 위한 커널 밀도 추정 기반 학습용 데이터 증폭 기법)

  • In general, the performance of ML(Machine Learning) application is determined by various factors such as the type of ML model, the size of model (number of parameters), hyperparameters setting during the training, and training data. In particular, the recognition accuracy of ML may be deteriorated or experienced overfitting problem if the amount of dada used for training is insufficient. Existing studies focusing on image recognition have widely used open datasets for training and evaluating the proposed ML models. However, for specific applications where the sensor used, the target of recognition, and the recognition situation are different, it is necessary to build the dataset manually. In this case, the performance of ML largely depends on the quantity and quality of the data. In this paper, training data used for motion recognition application is augmented using the kernel density estimation algorithm which is a type of non-parametric estimation method. We then compare and analyze the recognition accuracy of a ML application by varying the number of original data, kernel types and augmentation rate used for data augmentation. Finally experimental results show that the recognition accuracy is improved by up to 14.31% when using the narrow bandwidth Tophat kernel.

Empirical Research on Improving Traffic Cone Considering LiDAR's Characteristics (LiDAR의 특성을 고려한 자율주행 대응 교통콘 개선 실증 연구)

  • Automated vehicles rely on information collected through sensors to drive. Therefore, the uncertainty of the information collected from a sensor is an important to address. To this end, research is conducted in the field of road and traffic to solve the uncertainty of these sensors through infrastructure or facilities. Therefore, this study developed a traffic cone that can maintaing the gaze guidance function in the construction site by securing sufficient LiDAR detection performance even in rainy conditions and verified its improvement effect through demonstration. Two types of cones were manufactured, a cross-type and a flat-type, to increase the reflective performance compared to an existing cone. The demonstration confirms that the flat-type traffic cone has better detection performance than an existing cone, even in 50 mm/h rainfall, which affects a driver's field of vision. In addition, it was confirmed that the detection level on a clear day was maintained at the 20 mm/h rain for both cones. In the future, improvement measures should be developed so that the traffic cones, that can improve the safety of automated driving, can be applied.

Development of IoT-Based Disaster Information Providing Smart Platform for Traffic Safety of Sea-Crossing Bridges (해상교량 통행안전을 위한 IoT 기반 재난 정보 제공 스마트 플랫폼 개발)

  • Jeollanam-do has 25 land-to-island and island-to-island bridges, the largest number in Korea. It is a local government rich in specialized marine and tourism resources centered on the archipelago and the sea bridges connecting them. However, in the case of sea-crossing bridges, when strong winds or typhoons occur, there is an issue that increases anxiety among users and local residents due to excessive vibration of the bridge, apart from structural safety of the bridge. In fact, in the case of Cheonsa Bridge in Shinan-gun, which was recently opened in 2019, vehicle traffic restrictions due to strong winds and excessive vibrations frequently occurred, resulting in complaints from local residents and drivers due to increased anxiety. Therefore, based on the data measured using IoT measurement technology, it is possible to relieve local residents' anxiety about the safety management of marine bridges by providing quantitative and accurate bridge vibration levels related to traffic and wind conditions of bridges in real time to local residents. This study uses the existing measurement system and IoT sensor to constantly observe the wind speed and vibration of the marine bridge, and transmits it to local residents and managers to relieve anxiety about the safety and traffic of the sea-crossing bridge, and strong winds and to develop technologies capable of preemptively responding to large-scale disasters.

A Study on the Power Converter Control of Utility Interactive Photovoltaic Generation System (계통 연계형 태양광 발전시스템의 전력변환기 제어에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a photovoltaic system is designed with a step up chopper and single phase PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) voltage source inverter. Where proposed Synchronous signal and control signal was processed by one-chip microprocessor for stable modulation. The step up chopper operates in continuous mode by adjusting the duty ratio so that the photovoltaic system tracks the maximum power point of solar cell without any influence on the variation of insolation and temperature because solar cell has typical voltage and current dropping character. The single phase PWM voltage source the inverter using inverter consists of complex type of electric power converter to compensate for the defect, that is, solar cell cannot be developed continuously by connecting with the source of electric power for ordinary use. It can cause the effect of saving electric power. from 10 to 20[%]. The single phase PWM voltage source inverter operates in situation that its output voltage is in same phase with the utility voltage. In order to enhance the efficiency of photovoltaic cells, photovoltaic positioning system using sensor and microprocessor was design so that the fixed type of photovoltaic cells and photovoltaic positioning system were compared. In result, photovoltaic positioning system can improved 5% than fixed type of photovoltaic cells. In addition, I connected extra power to the system through operating the system voltage and inverter power in a synchronized way by extracting the system voltage so that the phase of the system and the phase of single-phase inverter of PWM voltage type can be synchronized. And, It controlled in order to provide stable pier to the load and the system through maintaining high lurer factor and low output power of harmonics.

A study on the analysis of current status of Seonakdong River algae using hyperspectral imaging (초분광영상을 이용한 서낙동강 조류 발생현황 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Algae is an indispensable primary producer in the ecosystem by supplying energy to consumers in the aquatic ecosystem, and is largely divided into green algae, blue-green algae, and diatoms. In the case of blue-green algae, the water temperature rises, which occurs in the summer and overgrows, which is the main cause of the algae bloom. Recently, the change in the occurrence time and frequency of the algae bloom is increasing due to climate change. Existing algae survey methods are performed by collecting water and measuring through sensors, and time, cost and manpower are limited. In order to overcome the limitations of these existing monitoring methods, research has been conducted to perform remote monitoring using spectroscopic devices such as multispectral and hyperspectral using satellite image, UAV, etc. In this study, we tried to confirm the possibility of species classification of remote monitoring through laboratory-scale experiments through algal culture and river water collection. In order to acquire hyperspectral images, a hyperspectral sensor capable of analyzing at 400-1000 nm was used. In order to extract the spectral characteristics of the collected river water for classification of algae species, filtration was performed using a GF/C filter to prepare a sample and images were collected. Radiation correction and base removal of the collected images were performed, and spectral information for each sample was extracted and analyzed through the process of extracting spectral information of algae to identify and compare and analyze the spectral characteristics of algae, and remote sensing based on hyperspectral images in rivers and lakes. We tried to review the applicability of monitoring.

A Design of Ultra-low Noise LDO Regulator for Low Voltage MEMS Microphones (저전압 MEMS 마이크로폰용 초저잡음 LDO 레귤레이터 설계)

  • Microphones can convert received voice signals to electric signals. They have been widely used in various industries such as radios, smart devices and vehicles. Recently, the demands for small size and high sensitive microphones are increased according to the minimization of wireless earphone with the development of smart phone. A MEMS system is a good candidate for an ultra-small size microphone of a next generation and a read out IC for high sensitive MEMS sensor is researched from many industries and academies. Since the microphone system has a high sensitivity from environment noise and electric system noise, the system requires a low noise power supply and some low noise design techniques. In this paper, a low noise LDO is presented for small size MEMS microphone systems. The input supply voltage of the LDO is 1.5-3.6V, and the output voltage is 1.3V. Then, it can support to 5mA in the light load condition. The integrated output noise of proposed LDO form 20Hz to 20kHz is about 1.9uV. These post layout simulation results are performed with TSMC 0.18um CMOS technology and the size of layout is 325㎛ × 165㎛.

Detection of Delay Attack in IoT Automation System (IoT 자동화 시스템의 지연 공격 탐지)

  • As IoT devices are widely used at home, IoT automation system that is integrate IoT devices for users' demand are gaining populrity. There is automation rule in IoT automation system that is collecting event and command action. But attacker delay the packet and make time that real state is inconsistent with state recongnized by the system. During the time, the system does not work correctly by predefined automation rule. There is proposed some detection method for delay attack, they have limitations for application to IoT systems that are sensitive to traffic volume and battery consumption. This paper proposes a practical packet delay attack detection technique that can be applied to IoT systems. The proposal scheme in this paper can recognize that, for example, when a sensor transmits an message, an broadcast packet notifying the transmission of a message is sent to the Server recognized that event has occurred. For evaluation purposes, an IoT system implemented using Raspberry Pi was configured, and it was demonstrated that the system can detect packet delay attacks within an average of 2.2 sec. The experimental results showed a power consumption Overhead of an average of 2.5 mA per second and a traffic Overhead of 15%. We demonstrate that our method can detect delay attack efficiently compared to preciously proposed method.

3D Simulation Study to Develop Automated System for Robotic Application in Food Sorting and Packaging Processes (식품계량 및 포장 공정 로봇 적용 자동화 시스템 개발을 위한 3D 시뮬레이션 연구)

  • Small and medium-sized food manufacturing enterprises are largely reliant on manual labor, from inputting raw materials to palletizing the final product. Recently, there has been a trend toward smartness and digitization through the implementation of robotics and sensor data technology. In this study, we examined the effectiveness of improvement through 3D simulation on two repetitive work processes within a food manufacturing company. These processes involve workers whose speed cannot match the capacity of the applied equipment. Two manual processes were selected: the weighing and packing process performed by workers after skewer assembly, and the manual batch process of counting randomly delivered frozen foods, packing (both internal and external), and palletizing. The production volume, utilization rate, and number of workers were chosen as verification indicators. As a result of the simulation for improving the 3D process, production increased by 13.5% and 56.8% compared to the existing process, respectively. This was particularly evident in the process of applying palletizing robots. In both processes, as the utilization rate and number of input workers decreased, robots could replace tasks with high worker fatigue, thereby reducing work overload. This study demonstrates the potential to visually compare the process flow improvement using 3D simulations and confirms the possibility of pre-validation for improvement.

Experimental Analysis to Derive Optimal Wavelength in Underwater Optical Communication Environment (수중 광통신 환경에서 최적 파장을 도출하기 위한 실험적 해석)

  • This paper investigates the naval application of laser communication as a potential replacement for traditional acoustic wave communication in underwater environments. We developed a laser transceiver using Arduino and MATLAB, conducting a water tank experiment to validate communication feasibility across diverse underwater conditions. In the first experiment, when transmitting data through a laser, the desired message was converted into data and transmitted, received, and confirmed to be converted into the correct message. In the second experiment, the operation of communication in underwater situations was confirmed, and in the third experiment, the intensity of light was measured using the CDS illuminance sensor module and the limits of laser communication were measured and confirmed in various underwater situations. Additionally, MATLAB code was employed to gather data on salinity, water temperature, and water depth for calculating turbidity. Optimal wavelength values (532nm, 633nm, 785nm, 1064nm) corresponding to calculated turbidity levels (5, 20, 55, 180) were determined and presented. The study then focuses on analyzing potential applications in naval tactical communication, remote sensing, and underwater drone control. Finally, we propose measures for overcoming current technological limitations and enhancing performance.

Development of Evaluation Indicators for Optimizing Mixed Traffic Flow Using Complexed Multi-Criteria Decision Approaches (다기준 복합 가중치 결정 기반 혼재 교통류 최적화 평가지표 개발)

  • Autonomous driving technology, when commercialized, has the potential to improve the safety, mobility, and environmental performance of transportation networks. However, safe autonomous driving may be hindered by poor sensor performance and limitations in long-distance detection. Therefore, cooperative autonomous driving that can supplement information collected from surrounding vehicles and infrastructure is essential. In addition, since HDVs, AVs, and CAVs have different ranges of perceivable information and different response protocols, countermeasures are needed for mixed traffic that occur during the transition period of autonomous driving technology. There is a lack of research on traffic flow optimization that considers the penetration rate of autonomous vehicles and the different characteristics of each road segment. The objective of this study is to develop weights based on safety, operational, and environmental factors for each infrastructure control use case and autonomous vehicle MPR. To develop an integrated evaluation index, infra-guidance AHP and hybrid AHP weights were combined. Based on the results of this study, it can be used to give right of way to each vehicle to optimize mixed traffic.
