The Study on Social Capital and Community Sense Formation for the Sustainability of Fashion Social Enterprises (패션 사회적 기업의 지속가능성을 위한 사회적 자본 및 공동체의식 형성에 대한 연구)

  • This research intends to observe the effects of social capital regarding fashion social enterprises on the community sense of participating consumers, and verify the relationship of the effects that such social capital and community sense have on sustainability formation variable(shared values, suitability of values, behavioral flow, cognitive belief and long-term relationship orientation) of social enterprises. For such analysis, a sample of 400 consumers with experience of purchasing products of fashion social enterprises more than once was utilized, and path analysis was conducted utilizing AMOS 20.0. As a result of this research, first, information sharing, social participation among the characteristic factors of social enterprises' social capital had a meaningful impact on shared values, and self-pursuit and significance meaningfully affected the suitability of values. Second, mutual influence, sense of belonging, satisfaction of needs and emotional bond among the characteristic factors of community sense between social enterprises and consumers meaningfully affected shared values, whereas mutual influence, sense of belonging and emotional bond substantially influenced suitability of values. Third, shared values and suitability of values affected the relationship between behavioral flow and cognitive trust, and behavioral flow and cognitive trust both had meaningful impact on long-term relationship orientation.

  • This qualitative study was designed to explore the definition of ethnic identity of the Dusuns in Brunei Darussalam from the perspective of Shamsul A.B.'s (1996) "everyday-defined" social reality. The purpose of this study was twofold. Firstly, by employing Phinney's (1996) formulation of ethnic identity, this study examined the existence of core components of ethnic identity, namely, ethnic self-identification, ethnic involvement, positive attitude towards ethnic group, and sense of belonging in the life of the Dusuns. Secondly, by utilizing Phinney's (1996) three-stage model of ethnic identity formation, this study investigated the relationship between core components and the formation process of ethnic identity. Twenty-six Dusun informants ranging in age from 8 to 80 years old were interviewed for the purpose of this study. The analysis of the interview data revealed that all core components exist and evolve in the life of the Dusuns. Different perspectives towards core components can also be identified across different age groups. Adult informants contested the relevance of ethnic involvement in view of socio-cultural transformations that occurred within the ethnic group, whereas younger Dusuns were not able to extend sense of belonging outside their family. These findings lead to the identification of family and historical contexts as influential factors that shape the ways the informants experienced the ethnic identity components. Further, the findings of this study indicate the relationship between core components and the formation process of ethnic identity. Sense of belonging and community is only evident in the experience of older informants, sufficient to help them reach the stage of achieving ethnic identity. This also shows a positive sequential relation between the stages in Phinney's ethnic identity model and the age of the informants. Interestingly, evidence on internalized sense of belonging reveals the fact that an individual could still attain ethnic identity achievement even without experiencing all components of ethnic identity. Once again, this study suggests contextual factors play a role in the stage progression of the Dusuns' ethnic identity.

Sense of Community Influencing Intent to Continue Farming for Young Farmers - Focusing on the Young Farmers 4-H Community - (청년농업인의 공동체 의식이 영농지속 의향에 미치는 영향 - 청년농업인 공동체 회를 중심으로 -)

  • This study aims to identify the sense of community influencing Intent to continue farming for young farmers to sustain their farming. Data were was collected from 124 young farmers during October 2023 among members of the 4-H youth organization in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. As a result of factor analysis, the sense of community was classified into three dimensions: sense of belonging, social interaction, and community bond. It was found that the intention to continue farming was classified into two dimensions: economic and social factors. Results showed that participants with less than five years of 4-H involvement had higher community awareness than those with more than five years. This study suggests that early-stage participants be more influenced by group belonging and interaction. Additionally, community awareness positively influenced both economic and social aspects of farming sustainability. Thus, higher community awareness among young farmers enhances the sustainability of their practices. This study is significant as it addresses the previously unexplored relationship between young farmers' community awareness and farming sustainability, suggesting that fostering community awareness can improve sustainable agricultural practices.

The Effects of the Convergence Program using Traditional play on Depression, Sense of Belonging and Suicidal Ideation in Rural Women Elderly (전통놀이를 활용한 융복합 프로그램이 농촌 여성노인의 우울, 소속감 및 자살생각에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the convergence program using traditional play on the depression, sense of belonging and suicidal ideation in rural elderly women. This study of participants were 42 elderly women aged 65 years old or older in K province(Experimental group= 20, Control group = 22). The data collected from July 17 to August 23, 2017. The experimental group participated in a total of 12 sessions of traditional play program for 50minutes twice a week. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, $x^2$-test, and independent t-test. There were significant differences in depression(t=-4.86, p<.001) and sense of belonging(t=4.611, p<.001) of participants between experimental group and control group after end of the program. Therefore, the program was effective in improving depression and sense of belonging in rural women. We propose further study to confirm the usefulness of the program by expanding the area.

Factors Influencing the Sense of Community for Build Rural Community (농촌 마을만들기 참여주민의 공동체 의식 영향요인)

  • This study aims to examine the sense of community for build rural community. Data were collected from 205 local residents residing in Yeoncheon-gun where the community building project and education were undertaken to analyze the data. Data was analyzed by using analysis of hierarchical regression analysis. Results summarized as follows. First, the most influencing factor on sense of community of the resident' participation in rural community building was continuous participation. Second, the influencing factors of sociodemographic were occupation, income level, and age on entire and sub factors of sense of community partially. Third, participation expansion, the sub factor of community participation influenced on sense of belonging, the feeling of solidarity, and conscious of mutual influence. As a result of taking a look at the effect of resident participation in overall sense of community, continuous participation was shown to influence in entire sense of community.

Does Social Exclusion Increase Materialism? The Moderated Mediation Model of the Need to Belong, the Need for Control, and a Sense of Power (사회적 배제는 물질주의를 증가시키는가? 소속과 통제의 욕구 및 권력감의 조절된 매개 효과)

  • Materialism can be triggered by various social events. Based on theories on functions of materialistic goal pursuit, this study investigates how social exclusion evokes desires related to one's identity, resulting in an increase in materialism. Specifically, we predicted that social exclusion would increase the desire for control and belonging, thus leading to higher levels of materialism. Moreover, based on the theory of the approach tendency of power, we further predicted that individuals with a higher sense of power would experience greater desires for belonging and control when faced with social exclusion. To examine the hypotheses, we conducted an experiment using 202 Korean women. The results indicated that social exclusion resulted in an increase in the desire for control, thus increasing materialism. This relationship is stronger for individuals with a high sense of power, and the path from social exclusion to materialism based on the need for control is significant for those with a high sense of power. Although social exclusion increases the need to belonging, the relationship between the need to belonging and materialism is not significant, and its mediating effect was not supported in this study. Based on these findings, we discussed implications and directions for future research.

Study of the Influence of a Park Project within Unpleasant Facilities on Residents' Satisfaction in the Community - Targeting Maru Park (Tancheon Sewage Treatment Center) - (혐오시설 공원화에 따른 주민만족도가 커뮤니티 의식에 미치는 영향 연구 - 마루공원(탄천 물 재생센터)을 대상으로 -)

  • Unpleasant facilities have been unwelcomed by residents within the region since they are considered to negatively influence the living conditions of the region. Yet recently, a park project within these unpleasant facility areas has begun to improve the negative impression of the region and the satisfaction of local residents has been shown to be very high. Also a park project within unpleasant facilities is found to have significant influence on the community, including resolving conflicts and building mutual friendships among residents by creating pleasant living conditions and improving the quality of life of local residents. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the park project within unpleasant facilities changes the satisfaction level of local residents and affects the sense of community. In order to do so, surveys were given to visitors of Seoul Maru Park, which was turned into a park from a sewage treatment center. According to the analysis result, after the sewage treatment center was recreated as Maru Park, citizen satisfaction was found to be very high. The sense of community that the visitors feel was found to be high in general, but the 'sense of connection and neighbor bonds' turned out to be lower compared to the 'sense of settlement and belonging.' A regression analysis was performed to determine the relative influence of visitor satisfaction on the sense of community. As a result, in the division of 'sense of settlement and belonging,' the satisfaction with ecological health was affected the most, followed by satisfaction with scenic beauty, whereas satisfaction with cleanness had no influence. In the division of 'sense of connection and neighbor bond,' none of the satisfaction with cleanness, ecological health and scenic beauty showed any influence in the analysis. According to the above result, a park project within unpleasant facilities brings a positive influence on the 'sense of settlement and belonging,' yet in order to improve the 'sense of connection and neighbor bond,' which is not influenced by the project, the adequate facilities and activity programs are considered to be necessary to change the residents' of sense of community.

The Effect of Empowering Leadership on Work Engagement and Job Performance through Employees' Self-Efficacy and Belonging (임파워링 리더십이 구성원의 자기효능감과 소속감, 그리고 직무열의와 직무성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The importance of empowering leadership has emerged, which inspires confidence and attachment to members' task capabilities through delegation of authority between leaders and members. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of empowering leadership on work engagement and job performance through self-efficacy and sense of belonging in construction companies. Hypothesis testing of 271 copies of the questionnaire from Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam areas was conducted using the structural equation model. First, in the order of information sharing and participatory decision-making, there was a significant positive effect on self-efficacy, whereas the lead and coaching factors were not significant. Second, it was shown that all 4 factors of empowering leadership had a significant positive effect on belonging. Third, the sense of self-efficacy and belonging had a significant positive effect on both work engagement and job performance.

Relationship between Sense of Belonging, Powerlessness and Nutritional status of Elderly People (노인의 소속감, 무력감과 영양 상태와의 관계)

  • This study was performed to analyze health problems in older adults in a comprehensive manner, including usual living habits, nutritional status, and society psychological factors. Research was conducted by a structured questionnaire by interviews with a test group of 316 people over the age of 65 from April 2012 to August 2012. Elderly people's dietary intake was assessed using NSI (Nutrition Screening Initiative) by the 24-hour retrospective method, and elderly people's feeling of helplessness and sense of belonging were assessed using the measuring device. Material analysis, descriptive statistics, and regression analysis were performed using SPSS. Elderly people with increased age showed higher chances of being in the high-risk and undernourished group. Elderly with high NSI showed low intake of fat, protein, fibrin, vitamin C, E, $B_1$, $B_2$, Niacin, K, Fe, Zn, and Cu than those with low NSI. Findings from this comparative analysis indicate that elderly with better nutritional status showed a lower feeling of helplessness than those with poor nutritional status. Overall, elderly people consumed a b road variety of foods, and social emotional stability of elderly people increased at optimal dietary levels.

An Empirical Study on Success Factors of Special-Purpose Mobile Applications: Focusing on the Mobile Campus Application of A University (특수목적용 모바일 앱의 성공요인에 관한 실증연구: A 대학교 모바일 캠퍼스 앱을 중심으로)

  • Recently, with the increasing popularity of smartphones, mobile applications have been being used in various sectors. In these environments, some mobile applications are being made for special purposes. The mobile campus application is one exemplary type of such special-purpose mobile applications, which have unique characteristics that allow only designated users, belonging to a specific group, to access and use relevant knowledge. The aim of this study is to identify and investigate critical success factors of mobile campus applications based on the DeLone & McLean's information systems (IS) success model and to find unique characteristics of mobile campus applications, compared to general-purpose mobile applications. In order to empirically test our research model, 199 samples were collected from students who actually had experience of using the mobile campus application of A university at least once. The findings of the structural equation modeling using SmartPLS 2.0 confirmed the DeLone & McLean's IS success model, with the exception for relationships between service quality and user satisfaction/intention to use. Moreover, the moderating role of sense of belonging to school on the relationships between quality-related factors (i.e., information, system, and service qualities) and success-related factors (i.e., user satisfaction and intention to use) was examined.
