A Study on Senior Behavioral Analysis and Care System Using Big Data (빅데이터를 활용한 시니어 행동분석 돌봄 시스템 연구)

  • Various applied solutions utilizing the technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution are being applied to the health and welfare sector. In the proposed paper, the senior care system solution based on big data is designed. The principles of operation of the proposed system are collecting senior behavioral analyses through API information of smart devices, and sending a primary notification to the relevant senior in cases where a senior reacts differently from the existing standards. A system is proposed to prevent dangerous situations by providing information to peer seniors, family members, and the emergency center in cases where there is no response.

  • The study is aimed to suggest user-oriented improvement strategies for spatial plan of senior centers that provide the elderly with leisure and welfare functions for in rural areas. Five counties with the highest ratio of the elderly of 65 or over were selected from Gyeongsangbuk-do rural areas. The study classified the senior centers into 5 types depending on their floor plan, conducted individual interviews on the representatives and users of the centers using open-end questions through one-day observation on the spot, and performed actual measurement of the floor and analysis of current use. Based on above research, the result was drawn by physical characteristics, the current use, and requirements. The study is intended to serve as preliminary data for future plan of senior centers in rural areas.

Study on the Difference in the Level of Preparation for Old Age and Happiness according to the General Characteristics of Senior Welfare Center Attendees.

  • The aim of this study is to verify the difference in the level of happiness and preparation for old age according to the general characteristics of senior welfare center attendees. The subjects of the study were 148 attendees of OO senior welfare center in Seoul and a survey was conducted from July 4 to October 7, 2016. The method of analysis was by using the SPSSWIN 18.0 program, a 5% level of significance was verified in a frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that first, from investigating the difference in the level of preparation for old age according to general characteristics, there was a significant difference according to age, occupation, monthly income, and physical condition but there was no significant difference according to gender and level of education. Second, as a result of observing the difference in the level of happiness according to general characteristics, although there was a significant difference according to occupation and monthly income, the difference level according to gender, age, level of education, health condition was less than a 5% level of significance. Third, from observing the correlation between the level of happiness and preparation of old age, it was found that happiness was positively correlated to preparation for old age in the following order: physical preparation for old age ((r=.576, p<.001), economic preparation for old age (r=.570, p<.001), psychological preparation for old age (r=.526, p<.001), social preparation for old age (r=.525, p<.001). It is forecasted that this study will be used as base line data for improvement of happiness and preparation for old age for the elderly according to general characteristics.

  • Proportion of senior population living alone in South Korea has exceeded over 20.2% in 2012, and it is anticipated that the proportion would increase every year. Poverty rate of seniors living alone in Korea is also anticipated to increase the highest rate (76.6%) among OECD countries. In particular, seniors lacking family support are having greater difficulty and isolated due to high housing costs and housing instability. Therefore, they need a new housing alternatives for considering their economical difficulty and lacking family and social support. This study attempted to examine possibility to develop a new housing alternatives for Korean seniors, especially living urban area. For this purpose, this study identified the attitudes and preference for a new house alternatives(Senior Shared House) by Korean seniors living alone. The key findings of this study were as follows: 1) Eighty-five percent of seniors participated in this study responded the senior shared house was needed. 2) It should be developed by utilizing or renovating and renting out existing housing in city areas. 3) Pre-residence checklist can be developed to connect and match prospect residents. 4) Professional workforce (e.g. housing welfare professional) is absolutely necessary to perform the role of coordinator understanding the various characteristics of the seniors, and their living requirements. Recommendations and directions for future development of senior shared house were suggested.

  • According to the aging society, the housing environments of senior citizens who live alone are faced with social various problems. On the dwelling welfare, development of model for the silver house is necessary at the reducing of social expense. Particularly, the silver housing conditions of rural and fishing villages are poor than urban region. The results of this research are as follows. First, the senior citizens who live alone looked to an negative opinion about cohabitation of the aged, but the senior citizens who don't live alone and preliminary old man group showed a positive opinion to the regarding cohabitation. Second, Most of the aged was in poor health, On this account they expressed an opinion that they were opposite to the cohabitation opinion. Although considering health, simultaneous design of both private life and community life shall be reflected to the preferential design element in co-housing of the aged. Through these co-housing for the aged in rural and fishing village, the senior citizens who lives alone have prevented poor housing surroundings, loneliness, loss of role, uneasiness, gloomy, chronic disease.

A Study on the Spatial Characteristics of Senior Complexes in Japan (일본 노인복합시설의 유형별 공간특성에 관한 연구)

  • With a rapid expansion of the elderly population, there is a greater demand for the construction of senior complexes. However, due to a land price increase and insufficient financial resources, accommodating such a demand is challenging. Also, as aging progresses, many elderlies tend to be isolated from local community, because of deteriorating health. As a result, constructing senior complexes is becoming an important community project. The construction of senior complexes in Korea has been started since early 2000, so it is still in the beginning stage in Korea. However, in the case of Japan, they have more experience in building such buildings. Therefore, in this study, 49 senior complexes in Japan were analysed, and the following spatial characteristics were derived. 1. By classifying senior complexes largely into a complex type with similar facilities and a complex type with different facilities, 12 types were derived. Depending on the types of facilities, basic sharing rooms and selectively sharing rooms by need are suggested. 2. Depending on 4 characteristics, such as spatial composition, entrance type, circulation form, and complex facility type, 17 types of senior complexes were derived, and the characteristics of each type are presented.

  • The purpose of this study is to widen the subject of research to the whole social activity, which is divided into the following four categories in the previous study on "Reality of social activity of senior citizen": 1. work 2. social participation and volunteer activity 3. learning activity 4. individual activity, and to clarify which category is most related to the masticatory ability. There were 57korean subjects in the survey: aged 65 through 85 (73.8$\pm$5.5), 81 women: aged 65 through 85 (74.3$\pm$5.3), a total of 138: aged 65 through 85 (74.1$\pm$5.4), in College for senior citizen of A city, Buddhist College for senior citizen of A city and senior citizen's welfare facility of A city who gave consent to the research The Japanese subject were 38 men: aged 65 through 85(75.3$\pm$5.4), 54 women: aged 65 through 85(75.5$\pm$5.2), a total of 92: aged 65 through 85(75.4$\pm$5.2) in women's division of F city Federation of Senior Citizens' Club, Otsuka division of B ward Federation of Senior Citizens' Club and S ward Federation of Senior Citizens' Club who gave consent to the research. The major findings were as follows: A social activity, individual activity were active in a social activity domain on a day so that people of Japanese advanced age had you, and writing ability was high, and, as for freezing, learning activity was active for people of Korean advanced age in a social activity domain so that writing ability was high.

  • Recently, Our society socioeconomically has faced the sudden changes. The retirement of the baby-boom generation is expected to become mainstream amid the falling birth rate and the aging society at the fastest rate in the world. As such a baby-boom generation is a core pillar of our economic development in the 1970s and 1980s, the rehiring difficulties after retirement, the insignificant old age preparation and their welfare and medical problem has become national issue. The government has implemented the policy for promoting the senior entrepreneur to participate productive economic activity by actively utilizing the senior's strength from this year. However, in spite of the importance of such a senior entrepreneur, the research to study the senior's desire and the concrete characteristics of the senior entrepreneur is nonexistence. Therefore, this paper empirically analysed the senior's concrete nature, entrepreneurial intention and the impact on the senior entrepreneurship, which is the core of the success entrepreneur and provided stimulating measure.

Anaysis on Management about the Intergenerational Homeshare by Senior-Young Student - Focusing on 4 Districts in Seoul, Korea - (<고령자-대학생>의 홈셰어 운영에 관한 분석 - 서울시 4개 자치구를 중심으로 -)

  • The Homeshare program, which was introduced in 2012, has been implemented with the purpose of reduction of housing costs for young students and economic support for the senior to prevent isolation and help themselves. Nonetheless, the program has not being activated and the research about it has not progressed well. Therefore, this study as a basic research of the program aims to analyze and evaluate the program in progress in district offices to push it forward. This study was undertaken on documentary research and interviews, which analyzed advanced researches and open materials from the websites of district offices. The interviews were conducted in 4 gu-district offices (Nowon-gu, Gwangjin-gu, Seodaemun-gu, and Seongdong-gu) and did interviews with officials in charge on July in 2015. The result of this study is as follows. First, the Homeshare is being activated around the university town, which has advantage of housing welfare aspects for young students and social welfare aspects for the senior. Second, the support structures of the Homeshare can be categorized as the gu-districts offices, local resources and different structures funded by the Seoul City. Third, the process of the Homeshare takes 5 steps consisted of advertisement, reception/counseling, matching, contract, follow-up management. Fourth, the matching makes it a rule to match the same gender considering safety. In the case of the participation of the official in charge, it has a advantage of solving problems that can occur when the matching, which can lead to smooth progress. Fifth, joint consultation is divided into the contract among participants and the contract between participants and the gu-district office. Sixth, the follow-up management takes rather passive approaches such as calls once or twice a month and visits when necessary. For the activation of the Homeshare, it is required to improve it through the various methods such as regular visits, satisfaction researches and so on. This study resulted from investigating and analyzing the Homeshare operation system between generations will be considered to be a reference to the underlying management.

A Study on the Influence of Change of Electrical Stimulation Time on Body Regions Affects on Threshold of People Over Age 60 (60세이상 노인의 신체 부위별 전기자극시간에 따른 역치 변화에 대한 연구)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was influence of change of electrical stimulation time on body regions affects on electrical current threshold. Methods: The present study is to examine the effect of silver spike point (SSP) electrical stimulation (1Hz), transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS, 100Hz), and interferential current therapy (ICT, 50Hz) from the low back and scapulodorsal and knee joint regions on stimulation-induced current thresholds from the elderly (over sixty) people (male:72, female:91) in senior welfare center. Result: The low back region, but not scapulodorsal and knee joint region, significantly increased the TENS and ICT, but not SSP, electrical stimulation, significantly increased the time-dependent current thresholds in elderly patients. Conclusion: Therefore, these results, in part, suggest that the TENS and ICT were shown to be a more adaptable method of stimulation, and that needed of the development of senile specialized physical therapy and the utilization of senior leisure facilities such as senior welfare center the others.
