주변 환경 순응형 자동차 경적 소음 개선 방법 (Methodology for Environmental Adaptation Vehicle Horn Improvements)

  • PURPOSES : While driving, drivers are usually limited in communicating with others except for using the horn. Excessive use of the horn may cause noise pollution, quarrels between drivers and pedestrians, damage, etc. This study developed a methodology for environmental adaptation and improvements of vehicle horns. METHODS: In this study, we performed a literature review of previous studies and related technologies regarding the overuse and damage of the horn. The proposed methodology employed the paired comparison method, as well as the semantic differential method. These methods can consider various vehicle horns, such as the Sport Utility Vehicle(SUV) Horn, Van Horn, and Buzzer. In addition, we conducted a factor analysis in order to provide a direction for improvement of future horns. This research provides a means of complimenting existing intellectual property related to vehicle horns. RESULTS: As a result, the most preferred of the selected horns were the Buzzer at 86.7%. In addition, based on the factor analysis, the horns could be classified into pleasantness and comfort factors. The results indicate a positive reaction for various vehicle horns. The horn type and size of the process control have been properly developed considering the position of the vehicle and the surrounding noise measurements. CONCLUSIONS : Based on the proposed methodology, public and private sectors can use fundamental data for reasonable traffic-noise control policies.

PC OS GUI 의 사용자 감성에 관한 연구 - 의미분별 척도법을 활용한 사용자 감성 선호도 분석 (User's Emotional Preference on PC OS GUI - Though Semantic Differential Method)

  • 컴퓨터 OS 환경의 기술적 발달과 더불어 GUI 에서도 많은 변화를 가져왔다. MS의 Vista OS나 애플사의 OSX Leopard 등의 여러 PC상의 OS가 기존의 기능 중심적 환경에서 벗어나 사용자들에게 감성적인 부분에 대해 호소하기 위한 디자인 요소를 부각시키는 단계로 접어들었다. 특히 Mac OS, Linux OS 환경의 지속적 확산 및 Web 기반 OS의 개발, 다양한 OS Skin의 개발 등에 따라 일률적이던 OS 환경은 변화의 시기를 맞이하고 있다. 이에 따라 PC OS의 GUI 디자인이 사용자 감성에 미치는 영향에 대한 객관적 평가를 통해 향후 PC OS의 GUI개발을 위한 기초자료 수집에 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 감성 공학적 분석방법인 의미분별 척도법(Semantic Differential Method)을 통해 사용자 감성 선호도를 분석하였다. 감성어휘 수집을 위한 1차 실험으로 47개 이상의 기초 감성어휘를 추출 한 후 어휘의 분포도 및 어휘 유사성에 근거한 적절성 평가로 실험에 사용될 20개의 어휘를 최종적으로 추출하였다. 선정된 어휘를 척도등급반의어와 평가등급 반의어, 정감등급반의어의 세 원칙에 따라 질문서로 작성하고 이에 따른 사용자 감성 반응을 측정하였다. 2차 실험은 샘플 이미지에 대한 선호도 조사 그리고 각 샘플별 5점 척도를 이용한 평가 수행으로 이루어졌다. 선호도조사를 통해 사용자는 '선명하다', '쉽다', '안전하다', '안정적이다'로 어휘화 될 수 있는 GUI 디자인을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 선명하다는 이미지는 안정감을 느끼게 하며 쉰다고 느끼는 이미지는 안전함과 연관성을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 사용자의 PC OS에 대한 감성연구 결과는 향후 PC OS의 GUI 디자인을 위한 기초자료로 활용 될 수 있을 것이다.

차량 고급감 향상을 위한 흡배기계 음질지수 개발 (A Development of Sound Quality Index of an Intake and Exhaust System for High Quality Improvement of Luxury Vehicles)

  • In this paper, a sound quality indices for the evaluation of vehicle intake and exhaust noise were developed through a correlation analysis of objective measurement data and subjective evaluation data. At first, intake and exhaust orifice noise were measured at the wide-open throttle sweep condition. And then, acoustic transfer function between intake orifice noise and interior noise at the steady state condition was measured. Also, acoustic transfer function for exhaust system was measured as the same method. Simultaneously, subjective evaluation was carried out by the paired comparison and semantic differential method by 27 engineers. Next, the correlation analysis between the psycho-acoustic parameters derived from the measured data and the subjective evaluation was performed. The most critical factor was determined and the corresponding sound quality index for the intake and exhaust noise was obtained from the multiple factor regression method. At last, the effectiveness of the proposed index was investigated.

  • The Conventional noise control attempts to simply reduce the level of product noise. But it is very straight forward way that we have consider human perception on noise. Since human listening is very sensitive to sound. Evaluation of the sound quality of a Vacuum Cleaner is studied base on human sensibility engineering. In this paper, we choose two Vacuum Cleaners that are sold in Korea and reduced noise control. Comparison Method is used to evaluate noise and preference of Vacuum Cleaner by steps. The sound quality of Vacuum Cleaner noise is analyzed by employing the subjective evaluation and by representing them in terms of the objective quantities. Semantic Differential Method is used to study sound quality Evaluation. To analyze the sound quality of Vacuum Cleaner noise, consider the coefficients of correlation between sound metrics and subjective rating. The linear regression models were obtained for the subjective evaluation and sound quality metrics.

웹 페이지의 감성에 관한 연구 (A Study on sensibility of Web page)

  • 본 연구는 웹 페이지 디자인의 감성모형을 구축하기 위해 실시되었다. 감성요소를 추출하기 위하여 첫째, 감성을 표현하는 어휘를 수집하고, 둘째, 감성어휘를 의미미분법을 사용해서 분류하고 셋째, 요인분석과 다차원척도법의 통계분석을 사용하였다. 본 연구결과로 얻어진 18개의 대표 어휘는 '독특하다. 신선하다, 화려하다. 소프트하다. 차갑다, 따뜻하다. 생생하다, 간단하다, 간결하다, 이색적이다, 도회적이다, 환하다, 칙칙하다, 밝다, 어둡다. 동적이다, 남성적이다, 딱딱하다'였으며, 세 개의 '밝다-어둡다', '소프트하다-딱딱하다', '간단하다-화려하다'의 감성 공간을 얻을 수 있었다.

국제 기준에 부합하는 효과적 안전표지의 지각 특성 (Perceptional Characteristics of Effective Safety Signs Corresponding to International Criteria)

  • In usual safety signs are final means to transmit hazard information so that the importance of them cannot be emphasized too much. Nevertheless, in Korea, few people are interested in functions of safety signs so that evaluation of safety signs are seldom committed. This research was conducted to evaluate and compare perceptional characteristics of safety signs, especially "Fall" signs, by Semantic Differential Method and Multi-dimensional Scaling Method, with undergraduate students as well as industrial workers. According to research results on several signs evaluated high through suggested procedure, action inducibility was different for students majoring in different sciences, but it had common elements in the sense of 'openness' or 'arrangements'. Besides, perceptional images on safety signs were mainly recognized with bases of 'arrangement' for student group and 'simplicity' for industrial workers, respectively, and their maps corresponded well with each other by partial rotating so that students and workers seemed to recognize safety signs with similar factors though their name might be different. However, since perceptional characteristics including image map, comprehensibility, and action inducibility were similar for student group whereas those were not for worker group, it was concluded that the test for action inducibility would be absolutely necessary for safety signs for workers' group.

A Study on Semantic Association between Transmitted Information and Design Parameters of Vibrotactile Signals

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of design parameters of vibrotactile signals on semantic association with transmitted information conveying different meanings. Background: As information communication relying on human visual channel becomes excessive, the utility of vibrotactile signals is being interested as a substitute measure of delivering information. Properly designed hapticons may relieve burden of visual communication by rendering distinct and meaningfully compatible haptic sensations. Method: A typical Kansei engineering approach was adopted in this study. Ten most distinctive hapticons were selected among those having different frequencies and amplitudes. Associations between the hapticons and twenty four pairs of adjectives used to describe the state of automobile in control were gathered from thirty subjects using semantic differential scales. Results: The selected pairs of adjectives were summarized by factor analysis into two semantic dimensions named 'Awareness' and 'Directionality'. The experimental hapticons matched with the semantic dimensions were presented as a haptic emotion map. Conclusion: The results from this study support that frequencies and amplitudes of haptic signals play important roles in arousing different human perceptions regarding the two haptic emotional dimensions. Application: Properly designed hapticons with respect to the contents of transmitted information will increase human operator's situation awareness as well as system performance. The result from this study can be used to develop standardized hapticons for active haptic communication.

고속철도와 일반철도소음의 성가심 반응에 대한 청감실험 비교 연구 (Jury Evaluation Test for Annoyance Response of KTX(Korea Train Express) and Ordinary Train Noise)

  • In recent years, public complaints against railroad noise by KTX and Ordinary train have been rising. Regulation of railways noise uses same standard without distinguishing the type of railroad cars. According to the type of railroad cars, the frequency characteristics of emitting noise is different. Therefore it is requested to know how the public response vary to each types of railroad cars. The noise annoyance from three types of trains(KTX, electric train, diesel train) was analyzed by jury evaluation test for assessing the effect of frequency characteristics. The numerical results by a semantic differential method showed that annoyance response to three type of trains depended on the frequency characteristics. As a result, this study proposed that the KTX could have a bonus level of maximum 2.9 dB(A) compared to ordinary train.

항만 경관의 시각적 선호도 분석

  • 본 연구는 항만경관에 대한 선호도를 분석한 것으로 부산의 북항을 연구 대상지로 설정하였다. 선호 요인은 SD법을 통해 도출되었고, 북항의 시각적 선호도와의 상관관계를 분석하기 위해 다중 회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 북항의 시각적 선호요인으로 역동성, 안정성, 쾌적성, 보건성의 4개 요인으로 구성되었다.4개의 선호요인을 이용한 시각적 선호도 분석 결과, 역동성 요인이 상대적으로 북항 선호를 설명하는 가장 중요한 요인으로 나타났다. 그러므로 북항 경관의 창출 및 관광객을 위한 항만 이미지 조성에 역동성을 고려한 항만경관계획과 관광 매력물로써의 개발을 통해 북항경관의 시각적 질 관리를 추진해야할 것으로 사료된다.
