Recently, middle and low social class entered in the upper class for the specific reasons and joined reference group in order to present demonstration effect. This phenomenon was assumed the consumer's desire for housing estate not from the leisure class. The superiority which feels belong to reference group, that was able to purchase high price product and the competence which can afford a high price goods are effective in housing estate. The study had been researched for Veblen effect according to residence estate. The partial least squares path modeling was used for Veblen effect affected by various psychological attributes, housing patterns and demographics for analysis. As a result, the conspicuous consumption from tenants was higher than residents, the social face sensitivity affected positively for self esteem and housing pattern, therefore, it caused conspicuous consumption. Moreover, we found conspicuous consumption had been increased followed by more spacious housing and higher income.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to develop an apparatus which can take a facial image by self-operated capturing technique. The user can obtain one's facial image immediately after adjusting facial tilt and focusing distance. The system has been designed for classifying Sasang typology based on facial image. Methods : The system is composed of a Webcam, one-way glass mirror and mini LCD. The Webcam takes a facial image which is displayed on the mini LCD. Then the user can see and adjust to the right position in the real time through the image mirror-reflected from the mini LCD. The optical sensor is used to estimate the proper focusing distance. To verify the performance of the system, 11 characteristic points on the facial image are used and compared with high performance DSLR camera(D700) by applying the coefficient of variance and Bland-Altman Plot. Results : The developed system and D700 show enough agreement with the small coefficient of variance to analyse constitutional types with a facial im mage. However, the result of Bland-Altman plot shows that the width parameters have distortions owing to short focusing distance. Conclusions : The system is expected to be utilized on u-healthcare services for home environment after improving the distortion in the width parameters.
The purpose of this study was to provide the basic data needed to plan the effective teaching design of scaling education and to measure the changes in students' confidence in performing scaling according to the number of scaling practices. Scaling education is presented as a core basic hygiene competency of dental hygienists and evaluated as the practical competency of dental hygienists. This study selected 48 third-year students from the department of dental hygiene at S University in Asan, and analyzed data from completed participant surveys. The degree of "confidence in facing the subject in clinical practice," "confidence in applying hand instrument to the subject," and "confidence in applying ultrasonic instruments to the subject" was assessed on a five-point Likert scale. The difference in confidence was analyzed during five practice sessions. Each response was compared using frequency analysis, chi-square test, and repeated measurement ANOVA. Students who complained of a lack of confidence in the 14.6%, 25.0%, and 12.5%, respectively, in face-to-face practice, hand instruments, and ultrasonic instrument application responses. The more the practice was repeated, the more confident students were in all three categories, and the more statistically significant (p<0.001). As the number of scaling practice sessions increased, students' confidence in performing scaling also improved. In particular, the level of self-confidence was higher after the third practice session when compared to the first session. Therefore, it is necessary to design effective courses for teaching scaling practices so that at least three repetitive practice periods can be provided in clinical dental hygiene practices.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of personal characteristics and body cathexis of middle-aged women on their clothing image preferences. Data was collected using questionnaire from 35 to 59 of age living in Daegu. The questions for personal characteristics included ascendancy, responsibility, emotional stability, sociability and self-confidence. Clothing images included the noble, bold, practical and female. Data were analyzed using SAS, SPSS programs for frequency, percentage, average, correlation, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The body cathexis of middle-aged women to their own body is not so high and the satisfaction with their body parts were face features, upper limb, lower limb, torso, height, physique, weight orderly. 2. The more satisfied with their body the higher emotional stability and self-confidence. 3. The more satisfied with the face the more preferred noble, bold, female image in doffing. The more satisfied with the torso and physique the more preferred bold, female image in clothing. 4. Middle-aged women with a high ascendancy preferred bold image and, those with a high responsibility preferred a practical image. Those with a high emotional stability preferred noble, practical image. Middle-aged women having a high sociability preferred noble, male image and having a high self-confidence preferred bole, male image.
Objectives: This study aimed to explore dimensions in addition to the 5 dimensions of the 5-level EQ-5D version (EQ-5D-5L) that could satisfactorily explain variation in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in the general population of South Korea. Methods: Domains related to HRQoL were searched through a review of existing HRQoL instruments. Among the 28 potential dimensions, the 5 dimensions of the EQ-5D-5L and 7 additional dimensions (vision, hearing, communication, cognitive function, social relationships, vitality, and sleep) were included. A representative sample of 600 subjects was selected for the survey, which was administered through face-to-face interviews. Subjects were asked to report problems in 12 health dimensions at 5 levels, as well as their self-rated health status using the EuroQol visual analogue scale (EQ-VAS) and a 5-point Likert scale. Among subjects who reported no problems for any of the parameters in the EQ-5D-5L, we analyzed the frequencies of problems in the additional dimensions. A linear regression model with the EQ-VAS as the dependent variable was performed to identify additional significant dimensions. Results: Among respondents who reported full health on the EQ-5D-5L (n=365), 32% reported a problem for at least 1 additional dimension, and 14% reported worse than moderate self-rated health. Regression analysis revealed a $R^2$ of 0.228 for the original EQ-5D-5L dimensions, 0.200 for the new dimensions, and 0.263 for the 12 dimensions together. Among the added dimensions, vitality and sleep were significantly associated with EQ-VAS scores. Conclusions: This study identified significant dimensions for assessing self-rated health among members of the general public, in addition to the 5 dimensions of the EQ-5D-5L. These dimensions could be considered for inclusion in a new preference-based instrument or for developing a country-specific HRQoL instrument.
The purpose of this study is to explore the fundamental nature and meanings of the experiences of university students with regard to their smartphone usage in order to prevent smartphone addiction and provide guidelines to develop effective interventions. Nine university students who were currently enrolled in an university located in a Korean province participated in this study. In-depth interviews were conducted from June of 2012 to July of 2012, and data were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological qualitative method. As a results, five theme and 40 subthemes of experiences of problematic smartphone usage were identified. Those themes include 1) a desperate try to connect with others(exposing oneself without appropriate self-protection, seeking emotional comfort, hurt and mistrust); 2) excessive use of smartphone and loss of self-control(more smartphone usage over computer/over-immersion/excessive usage/habituation, loss of self-control); 3) psychological difficulties(excessive attachment and dependence, separation anxiety, clingingness, reduced patience) ; 4) threats to daily functioning (changes in priorities, regressed independent daily functioning, irregular daily patterns, health problems, interruptions from free messenger, academic difficulties); 5) potential for recovery(conflictual feelings and doubts over smartphone usage, importance of interpersonal(face-to-face) communications, willingness to cut down the use, hope for recovery). This study provided suggestions for the prevention effort against smartphone addiction.
The purpose of this study is to provide new implications for the development and operation of programs and comparative studies in university policy by examining how core competencies of university students participating in tutoring programs affect learning satisfaction. For this purpose, 33 university students participated in the tutoring program before COVID-19 and 72 university students participated in the tutoring program after COVID-19 were surveyed and statistically processed. As a result, first, there was a positive correlation between self-innovation, challenge, communication, harmony, sincerity, problem solving and learning satisfaction among the components of core competencies of H university before COVID-19. There was a positive correlation between self-innovation, challenge, communication, harmony, sincerity, problem solving and learning satisfaction of core competencies after COVID-19. Second, in the pre-COVID-19 period, core competence had a high explanatory power on learning satisfaction, but there was no statistically significant factor in each of the remaining components except for the challenge. After COVID-19, core competence was secured with a high rate of explanatory power, self-innovation and harmony among the components of core competence were found to have a positive effect on learning satisfaction, and challenge was found to have a negative effect on learning satisfaction. The implications of this study are that when students participate in the tutoring program, it is necessary to emphasize the challenge factors and when they proceed in non-face-to-face, it is necessary to emphasize the self-innovation factors or the harmony factors rather than the challenge factors.
This study investigated the relationship between older driver's safe driving behavior, driving mobility(amount of driving, assessment for driving-related physical ability, confidence for adaptation in driving situation, amount of social activity) and subjective well-being(life satisfaction, positive/negative affect). The data of these variables were collected by questionnaire method based on face-to-face interview. The results can be summarized as followings. First, the older driver who reported higher scores in the self-report safe driving behavior questionnaire tended to show higher level of subjective well-being and driving-based mobility. Second, all the sub-factors in the driving-based mobility questionnaire were positively related to life satisfaction, positive affect but negatively related to negative affect except amount of driving. Finally, it was found that both confidence for adaptation in driving situation and amount of social activity positively mediated the relationship between self-report safe driving behavior and life satisfaction and positive affect, but confidence for adaptation in driving situation negatively mediated the relationship between self-report safe driving behavior and negative affect, Implication and suggestion were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of self-care activities of stroke patients, the family burden, and the educational needs of primary caregivers. A descriptive survey research was conducted in 97 stroke patients and their respective primary caregivers. Data were collected by the interviews using a structured questionnare from July 26th to August 5th, 1999. NIH stroke status was $12.15{\pm}8.40$, the degree of self-care activities of stroke patients was $26.85{\pm}9.39$. The score of objective burden of primary caregivers was $31.24{\pm}4.81$ and subjective burden was $24.30{\pm}6.99$. The score of the educational needs was $89.78{\pm}9.99$. We present several imformations about clients from these scores as follows: The patients were convalescent and their depentant level of self- care was middle range; The objective burden was higher than the subjective burden; And the educational needs of family caregivers were very high. The Elain Mattis Educational Wants of Family Caregivers of Disabled Adults Questionnaire was used to assess the educational needs of primary caregivers of stroke patients. The results of this research are offered to help nurses understand the feelings of uncertainty about the new and unexpected role that family caregivers face and to help nurses meet the needs of families preparing to care stroke survivors at home.

This study investigated elderly winter wearing habits and self-identified thermal tolerance in order to compare differences between older males and older females. We surveyed 269 participants: 119 males (age $76.9{\pm}5.9yr$) and 150 females (age $76.1{\pm}5.7yr$). Thirty one questionnaires were used: Self-identified cold and heat tolerance, clothing behavior, lifestyles related to the cold and health care, etc. High percentage of respondents (both males and females) felt vulnerable to the cold. The total number of outdoor clothes were $9.6{\pm}1.6$ and $10.6{\pm}1.6$ in males and females, respectively (p<.05). Wearing frequencies for thermal underwear were 84.0% and 82.4% in males and females, respectively. The using percentage of auxiliary heating devices was higher in females compared to males (p<.01). Males felt more cold in the head and face compared to females (p<.01). Self-identified cold tolerance had negative relationships with the total number of winter outdoor clothes for both males (r=-0.260) and females (r=-0.222) (p<.01). The perceived old age for both males and females was 72.4 yr. Sex differences should be considered when developing guidelines for winter clothing behavior for the elderly and educating them on how to improve health and cold tolerance.
