At the current stage of a semi-autonomous vehicle, there are situations in which the vehicle has to request take-over control to the driver quickly. However, current self-driving cars use only simple messages and warning sounds to notify drivers when handing over control, so they do not adequately convey considerations of individual characteristics or explanations of various emergent situations. This study investigated how visual and auditory information and the efficacy of drivers in self-driving cars can improve efficient take-over requests between the car and the driver. We found that there were significant differences in driver's cognitive load, reliability, safety, usability, and usefulness according to the combination of three visual and auditory information provided in the experiment of the take-over request situation. The results of this study are expected to help design self-driving vehicles that can communicate more safely and efficiently with drivers in urgent control transition situations.
This study was conducted to test the assessment validity and examine the cut-off scores for driving risk as a part of the Self-report Assessment Forecasting Elderly Driving Risk (SAFE-DR) development project. The 132 senior drivers were categorized as either risky of 58 or safe of 74 drivers through the Drivers 65 Plus. Based on this initial assessment, we analyzed the risk prediction cut-offs. Furthermore, we tested the construct, content, and predictive validity. The cut-off score for the prediction of driving risk was found to be 74.5 points. The positive predictive value was 88.6%, and the negative predictive value was 86.3% about the cut-off score, signifying an excellent level of discrimination. Convergent validity, nomological validity, and content validity were found to be appropriate. Therefore, this study confirms that SAFE-DR is an appropriate assessment that can be used to screen dangerous elderly drivers.
Today, many countries around the world recognize the development of autonomous vehicles as a national growth engine, support technology development through various projects, and promote it as national policy. China and Korea are representative countries that are strongly promoting autonomous vehicle policies. The Chinese government's policy direction for self-driving cars focuses on support for fostering new industries. Korea has established mid- to long-term goals and plans to foster the future mobility industry as a key growth engine and is promoting these as a national task. Recently, China and Korea have established national pilot areas to test autonomous vehicle operation and are actively pursuing policies. We aim to compare and analyze the operation status of self-driving cars in China's Xiong'an New Area and South Korea's Sejong City and derive policy implications regarding self-driving cars, which are emerging as a key industry of the future. According to the analysis results, it was found that China's Xiong'an New District is ahead of Korea's Sejong City in terms of leader leadership. As a result, autonomous driving is being operated at the government-wide and national level in Xiong'an New Area. In terms of the driving force, in the case of Xiongan New Area, the policy is being promoted by companies centered on Baidu, and in the case of Sejong City, the policy is being promoted by the local government. As a result, it is estimated that Xiongan New Area will be able to reach commercialization before Sejong City. In the final policy proposal, it was proposed to break away from the existing government-led method and switch to a collaboration with the private sector and a private-led method.

Driving behaviors are reported to be vulnerable to safe driving in unexpected situations or driving in the city due to deterioration of physical and cognitive functions in elderly drivers. The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in driving behaviors according to age of self-drivers and to identify changes in physical function related to driving caused by normal aging. The subjects of the study included 75 healthy adults (21 persons aged 20-39 years, 40 persons 40-64 years, 14 persons 65 years old) who were self-driving and possessed a driver's license. Data included sex, dominant hand, medication, exercise, age, and driving time obtained by a self-reported questionnaire. In addition, this study measured steering, acceleration and braking using a Driver Test Station. Results of the study showed there was no significant difference in power test according to age group, but the total time of the timer test and the emergency brake test significantly differed according to age. The timer test and emergency brake test were completed fastest in young adults between 20 and 39 years old and completed slowest in elderly people 65 years old or over. Based on our study results, it is suggested that normal aging affects the perceptual-cognitive processes associated with driving behaviors.

This paper presents the theoretical development of a complete navigation problem of a nonholonomic mobile robot by using ultrasonic sensors. To solve this problem, a new method to computer a fuzzy perception of the environment is presented, dealing with the uncertainties and imprecision from the sensory system and taking into account nonholonomic constranits of the robot. Fuzzy perception, fuzzy controller are applied, both in the design of each reactive behavior and solving the problem of behavior combination, to implement a fuzzy behavior-based control architecture. The performance of the proposed obstacle avoidance robot controller in order to determine the exact dynamic system modeling system that uncertainty is difficult for nomadic controlled robot direction angle by ultrasonic sensors throughout controlled performance tests. In additionally, this study is an in different ways than the self-driving simulator in the development of ultrasonci sensors and unmanned remote control techniques used by the self-driving robot controlled driving through an unmanned remote controlled unmanned realize the performance of factory antomation.

Recently, there is a growing interest in promoting safe and convenient roadway and traffic conditions for elderly drivers. This paper analyzed the driving characteristics, self recognition, and any inconvenience of elderly drivers over age 65 through an extensive survey, and drew some action plans to improve the driving conditions for elderly drivers. Survey results showed that the major trip purposes of the elderly driver were found to be commuting(50%) and business(33%), and this pattern was similar to the general drivers. The elderly drivers are interested in "safety", but "brand recognition" was the more important factor for the general drivers in the process of vehicle selection. The elderly drivers had no technical skill difference in driving as compared to the general drivers, but they fully recognized the physical deterioration such as reaction time and sight distance. In addition, the elderly drivers had a tendency to feel psychological contraction as to high workload driving conditions, thus it was necessary to make safe driving conditions by improving the design elements of traffic control devices on the roadways including visibility.
With the advent of autonomous cars, we explored the problems which will soon arise while parking in car parks. These include structure of parking lot suitable for autonomous cars, finding the closest parking slot available, and navigation to the location. We provide an initial solution, wherein we use a central server and the graph of the parking lot to guide cars to the closest parking slots available. Our experiments have shown that the proposed method is effective for the controlled parking for self-driving cars.
