뉴욕 거주 한국인의 불안, 자아존중감 및 건강증진 생활양식 (Health Promoting Lifestyle, Anxiety and Self-Esteem : Korean Immigrants in New York)

  • Objectives : To examine the relationships among health promoting lifestyle, anxiety, and self-esteem for korean immigrants in New York. Methods : The study included 425 adults aged 18 and over, who were chosen from Korean church and social organizations located in New York. The data were collected from April to July, 1996 using self-administered questionnaires. Data analyses were conducted using stepwise multiple regression, Pearson's correlation coefficients, 1-test, and ANOVA. Results : Health promoting lifestyle was significantly different by age, religion, occupation, and the length of residence. Those insured and those with no current medial diagnosis revealed significantly higher score in health promoting lifestyle than their counterparts. As for the level of anxiety, significant differences were found by educational level, marital status, occupation, income, and the length of residence. Self-esteem varied significantly by education, marital status, occupation, income, and the length of residence. Those with no current medical diagnosis and those insured experienced significantly higher level of self-esteem than their counterparts. Negative correlations were observed between health promoting lifestyle and anxiety. Perceived health status at present was positively correlated to perceived health status in the future. Health promoting lifestyle was significantly predicted by anxiety, age, and insurance. Conclusions : The above findings suggested that it is necessary to develop programs improving the perceived health status and lowering the level of anxiety. In this context, further researches on the relation between health promoting lifestyle and anxiety is required.

  • In order to extend the life time of building and civil infra-structure, nowadays, patch type fibrous composite materials are widely used. Retrofitted concrete columns and beams gain the stiffness and strength, but they lose toughness and show brittle failure. Usually, the cracks of concrete structures are visible with naked eyes and the status of the structure in the life cycle is estimated with visible inspection. After retrofitting of the structure, crack visibility is blocked by retrofitted composite materials. Therefore, structural monitoring after retrofitting is indispensible and self diagnosis method with optical fiber sensor is very useful. In this paper, We try to detect peel out effect and find the strain difference between main structure and retrofitting patch material when they separate each other.

  • This paper is to enable electrical safety manager to have more objective evaluation on the safety by indicating quantitative values such as life-time and status quotient of daily visual inspection on private electrical equipments. Self-diagnosis table is recommended to apply such a evaluation efficiently according to the characteristics of each electrical equipments, and the managers's determination of the precise inspection, replacement etc. will be also possible through the standard selected by various domestic and foreign data with expert's advise for numerical evaluation. This circumstance will be able to establish the foundation to secure the soundness of electrical equipments.

  • 만성질병, 식습관, 영양등 스트레스에 시달리는 현대인의 건강 상태를 파악하는 일은 매우 중요하며 또한 필요하다. 그러나 식이 섭취 평가는 많은 분야의 자료와 지식을 필요로 하기 때문에 손쉽게 일반인이 신뢰성 있는 평가는 얻기는 쉽지 않다. 본 연구는 식품, 영양, 조리, 만성질병, 식습관 등의 여러 전문 분야의 자료와 지식을 기반으로 한 웹 상에서의 영양 평가 시스템으로 '건강 관리를 위한 사이버 식생활 자가 진단 시스템(Cyber Food Self Diagnosis Program, 이하 Cyber-FSDP)'의 설계 및 구축에 관한 것이다. 바탕으로 한다. 초고속 통신망을 이용하여 사람들의 건강문제와 관련된 식생활 정보를 수집하고, 개인별 식생활을 사용자와 상호작용하게 온라인으로 평가·진단하여 이를 개선하고 궁극적으로는 만성질병 위험도를 감소시키고 건강을 증진시킬 수 있는 영양 및 만성 질병 평가 전문가 시스템을 구축한 사례에 대한 Web 응용 프로그램 개발을 소개하며, 개발환경으로는 서버를 엔터프라이즈 3000 Solaris 2.5.1을 사용했으며, DBMS는 IUS (Illustra Universal Server)를 사용하였고, APB(App Page Builder), JabaScript, HTML 등의 언어로 구현되었다.

  • The R.C Building will be superannuated as time passes. This program is generated by propagation of cracks. In order to manage such cracks, time and efforts, expense, etc. are required. In this study, glass sensors were embedding in a model beam and column and leakage of fluorescence and adhesive material was investigated. Further, currents in glass pipe were observed to find the leakage of liquid in glass pipes. Progressive cracks generated by cause the fracture of glass pipes. Therefore, the liquid become to flow and electric current stops, and the cracked part of the member can be found easily. Moreover, the adhesive delays progressive cracking system that responds in air, and the life of a structure can be made to extend. The purpose of this research is to develop of low price sensors that can perform of self-diagnosis in addition to ability of concrete repair concrete to damage.

  • Substation facilities have become large and complex in the electric power systems. Development of condition monitoring and diagnosis techniques have been very important to improve the security of substation transformers. This paper presents a method to analyze the cause and the degree of aging of power transformers by Self organizing map(SOM). Dissolved gas data were non-linearly transformed by sigmoid function to make determination of SOM close to that of human. Potential of a failure and the degree of aging of a normal transformer are identified by using the proposed quantitative criterion. Furthermore, transformer aging is monitored by the proposed criterion for a set of transformers. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed method, a case study is performed and its results are presented.

  • Bluetooth is the most promising network paradigm which ca open the new area in the information technology. Especially, bluetooth can link all the electrical products and PCs(Personal Computer) to cellular phone or PDA. In this paper, the data from ECU which are gathered by scanner are communicated between tow PCs using the bluethooth modules. The acquired data are ECU's self diagnosis signal and sensor output signal. Self diagnosis signals are very important to check the ECU's state and sensor output signals. Using these data, the possibility of wireless communication with ECU is developed and verified. Protocol stack of bluetooth is L2CAP through HCI and wireless communication software of ECU's signal is developed using VC++ in Windows 98 environment.

  • Recently the wide use of the microprocessor requests the UPS systems to have various functions. This paper describes the action of peripheral anti internal controller, and the display for current conditions and self-diagnosis such as over load and system fault, and the control algorithm design of UPS system with 1-1.5KW ratings. IBM PC/AT is used as the control system and Turbo PASCAL Ver 5.5 as control language.

중년기와 노년기 당뇨병 환자의 자가관리 관련요인 (Factors Related to Self Management in Middle Aged and Elderly with Diabetes Mellitus)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the self management and related factors that affect the self management of diabetes between the middle aged and elderly groups. Method: This study was based by the conceptual framework of Cox's interaction model of client health behavior. The subjects were two groups; the middle aged group, 80 and the elderly group, 85 who were diabetes mellitus patients. Result: In the middle aged group, gender, education and social support were significantly correlated with self-management of diabetes mellitus. In the elderly group, gender, education, social support and the duration of diagnosis were significantly correlated with self-management of diabetes mellitus. In too middle aged group, the intrinsic motivation of diabetes mellitus patients and their understanding of diabetes were significantly correlated with self-management of diabetes mellitus. Understanding of diabetes and self perception were significantly correlated with self-management in middle aged group. In the elderly group, intrinsic motivation, understanding of diabetes and the attitude of the patients were significantly correlated with self-management Conclusion: In the middle aged group, maintaining a positive attitude of diabetes, reducing stress and continuous social support were important for improving self-management of diabetes mellitus. In the elderly group, enhancing their knowledge of diabetes, and maintaining continuous social support were important to improve self-management of diabetes mellitus.

3 계 슬라이딩 모드 관측기 기반 로봇 고장 진단 (Third Order Sliding Mode Observer based Robust Fault Diagnosis for Robot Manipulators)

  • This paper investigates an algorithm for robust fault diagnosis in robot manipulators. The TOSM (Third Order Sliding Mode observer) provides both theoretically exact observation and unknown fault identification without filtration. The EOI (Equivalent Output Injections) of the TOSM observers can be used as residuals for the problem of fault diagnosis and to identify the unknown faults. The obtained fault information can be used for fault detection, isolation as well as fault accommodation to the self-correcting failure system. The computer simulation results for a PUMA 560 robot are shown to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
