Using switches and sensors informing the current on or off state, this paper suggests a sleeping control and remote monitoring system that not only can recognize the sleeping situations but also can control for keeping an appropriate sleeping situation remotely, And we show an example that this system is applied to the healthcare sleeping mat, Our system comprises the following 3 parts: a part for detecting the sleeping situations, a part for extracting sensing data and sending/receiving the relating situated data, and a part controlling and monitoring the all of sleeping situations. In details, in order to develop our system, we used the touch and pressure-sensitive sensors with On/Off functions for a purpose of the first part, The second part consists of the self-developed embedded board with the socket based communication as well as extracting real-time sensing data. And the third part is implemented by service modules for providing controlling and monitoring functions previously described. Finally, these service modules are implemented by the TMO scheme, one of real-time object-oriented programming models and the communications among them is supported using the TMOSM of distributed real-time middleware.

This study is conducted to compare how the Western.Oriental medical practitioners and health professionals perceive reciprocal development strategies respectively of Western.Oriental Medicine in Korea. A total of 3,273 persons were questioned by direct distribution, e-mail, and mail with a self-developed questionnaire. Of those questioned, 362 responded (the response rate of 11.1%), and of them n persons (Western medical practitioners 206, Oriental medical practitioners 90, and health professionals 64) were analyzed with SPSS for Windows. The results were as follows: The need for legislation on the mutual development system for Western.Oriental Medicine was recognized by 66.9% (218 persons) of respondents. Among them, largest group who agreed with this need was the health professionals. Western medical practitioners chose the "the difference of approach methods on the diseases between Western.Oriental Medicine" as their response, and Oriental medical practitioners & health professionals selected "the indifference or bias of Western medical practitioners"as the reasons for the inactivity in developing a mutual system of Western.Oriental Medicine. Therefore, Western medical practitioners and health professionals selected the category of "the reformation of educational system", while Oriental medical practitioners selected the category of "the activation of joint research on Western.Oriental medical care" as the most important condition for setting a precedent. Also, Western medical practitioners preferred "cooperative health care system for Western medical care supported by Oriental medical care", but Oriental medical practitioners and health professionals preferred “cooperative health care system of Western.Oriental medicine on equal terms" In conclusion, Western '||'&'||' Oriental medical practitioners have to make every effort to close the gap between differing views through mutual understanding and respect if joint research of Western.Oriental medical care is to become a reality. The government should continuously enforce the health policy on development of a legal and systematic infrastructure for mutual development strategy of Western.Oriental Medicine in Korea.strategy of Western.Oriental Medicine in Korea.

A self-supported temporary excavation method called IER is normally applicable to excavation depth ranging from 6.0 m to 7.0 m though the method depends on ground condition and overburden load. Combining IER with another method is required in deeper excavation depth in order to maintain the structural stability of the IER. In this study, we performed model tests and 3D FE analysis to check the stability of the IER adopting soil nailing method, and to propose its effective installation method. The lateral displacement of the IER using soil nailing decreased by 92% of that of IER without soil nailing. Optimum design is possible for both economic feasibility and stability when interval spacing and length of soil nails is $1.5m(S_h){\times}0.75m(S_v)$ and 86% of excavation depth, respectively. Excavation depth using IER increases 1.71 times by adopting soil nailing in increment of lateral displacement of IER right before the last excavation stage.

In this paper, we proposed an architecture of a cryptosystem with various operating modes for the network security and implemented in hardware using the ASIC library. For configuring a cryptosystem, the standard block ciphers such as AES, SEED and 3DES were included. And the implemented cryptosystem can encrypt and decrypt the data in real time through the wired/wireless network with the minimum latency time (minimum 64 clocks, maximum 256 clocks). It can support CTR mode which is widely used recently as well as the conventional block cipher modes such as ECB, CBC and OFB, and operates in the multi-bit mode (64, 128, 192, and 256 bits). The implemented hardware has the expansion possibility for the other algorithms according to the network security protocol such as IPsec and the included ciphering blocks can be operated simultaneously. The self-ciphering mode and various ciphering mode can be supported by the hardware sharing and the programmable data-path. The global operation is programmed by the serial communication port and the operation is decided by the control signals decoded from the instruction by the host. The designed hardware using VHDL was synthesized with Hynix 0.25$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology and it used the about 100,000 gates. Also we could assure the stable operation in the timing simulation over 100㎒ using NC-verilog.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the elementary school dietitian's status and recognition of nutrition education (NE) in Incheon. A cross-sectional study was carried out using a self-administered questionnaire and subjects were 100 elementary school dietitians. The results are as follows. As for training in NE, $61.2\%$ of the dietitians attended training in NE. After training in NE, $86.5\%$ of the dietitians who attended training in NE were more concerned about NE. Also $59.5\%$ of the dietitians gave students NE and most of them did as a weekly printout 2-4 times per month. There was a significant difference in experience of NE for teachers between subgroups by experience of training in NE; while $48.1\%$ of the dietitians with training in NE gave teachers NE, $20.0\%$ of the dietitians without training in NE gave teachers NE. The main reason for not giving NE was too much work load and low concern of school administration. Also $96.4\%$ of the dietitians answered that NE is necessary in elementary school and the main reason for being necessary was correction of unbalanced diet and good table manner, As for proper time to start NE for children, $51.8\%$ of dietitians answered 'kindergarten' and $45.8\%$ of them answered 'lower grade of elementary school'. As for effective type for NE, $59.5\%$ of the dietitians answered 'NE as a part of other subject' and $23.8\%$ of them answered 'NE as a separate subject'. Also $79.5\%$ of the dietitians answered 'teacher' as the suitable person for NE. Most of the dietitians recognized menu formation as the ideal major work load and office work as the most time-consuming work load. As to job satisfaction, most of them were dissatisfied with office work and NE. Therefore, it is nationally supported for elementary school students' health and well-being that school dietitians as NE specialists give NE with minimizing their office work and developing a standardized NE program.

The purpose of this study was to make a comprehensive study and to provide information about the dental caries and plaque index of cerebral person, and to aid improvement of their oral health. The author examined intraorally 1180 deciduous teeth, 5626 permanent teeth of 264 (male:153 female:111) cerebral palsy person and 1526 deciduous teeth, 4140 permanent teeth of 220 (male:125 female:95) non cerebral palsy person as the control group. The results were as follows : 1. Cerebral palsy persons Had higher dft rate than non-cerebral palsy persons. 2. Dental caries incidence between males and females in cerebral palsy persons showed no difference, and dental caries incidence of types in cerebral palsy person showed no difference, either. 3. Mental, motor, speech handicap degrees were negatively related to DMFT rate and DMFT index, and institutionalized cerebral palsy persons and cerebral palsy persons of which parent's occupation is private business were found low DMFT rate and DMFT index. 4. Cerebral palsy persons were found to have higher plaque index than non-cerebral palsy persons, and non institutionalized cerebral palsy persons and self-supported cerebral palsy persons were found high plaque index. 5. Plaque index of male and female in cerebral palsy person showed no difference, and Plaque index of types in cerebral palsy person showed no difference, either Plaque index of handicap degrees(mental, motor, speech) showed no difference.
The purpose of this study was to develop a home health care model in the public health system and to test the effectiveness of the model. Seven com-munity health practitioners in Yon- Cheon county. Kyunggi province, carried out home health care service for this research. The subjects of the home health care were a total of 111 community residents with chronic health problems and risk-prone infants and children; 29 persons with hypertension, 18 persons with diabetes, 12 persons with neurologic problems, 12 elderly, and 40 infants and children. During the period of study, from December, 1993 to March, 1995, a demonstrative home health care model was developed in the Yon-Cheon County community health centers with the cooperation of the Yon-Cheon Medical Center and Yon-Cheon Public Health Center for the first six months. A home care practice manual and recording system for home visits were also co-developed by the researchers and community health practitioners. Four workshops and monthly conferences were held for this purpose. Actual home care practice took place for two months, and on-going evaluation and replanning accompanied this process. The result of the evaluation of home care service were as follows. 1) For persons with hypertension, diabetes, neurologic problems, there was significant improvement in knowledge of disease and care, but no significant difference was seen in health behavior or symptoms after home care service. 2) No significant difference was seen in level of self esteem or depression after reminiscence therapy among 12 elderly subjects. 3) There were significant differences in satis-faction toward child rearing and parental sup-port, but no significant difference In education needs for parental role after home care service among parents of infants and children. 4) There was significant improvement in the quality of life among the subjects after the home care service. 5) Subjects responded that they were highly satisfied with the home care service given by the community health practitioners. Although, the actual implementation period was very short, and not all of the evaluation outcomes showed significant improvement, the home health care model of community health practitioners was, in general, positively evaluated. Through this re-search, the possibility of community health practitioners working as active home care personnel in the public health care system is supported. Further research with an expanded area and subjects for a longer period is recommended. Cost effectiveness research is also needed.
Recognition of the usefulness and the importance of the nursing diagnosis is increasing. There is a prevailing opinion that nursing diagnosis should be used to improve the quality of nursing care. Developing standardized nursing care palns based on nursing diagnoses is therefore considered one of the most essential projects for professional growth and improvement in the nursing world of Korea. Consequently, in the first stage of this research project, the ten nursing diagnses used most frequently with patients on medical and surgical wards were determined and related nursing care plans were developed, implemented and evaluated. The application of the standardized nursing care plans raised the nurses' confidence and proved to be effective in enhancing the quality of nursing care. This study was initiated as the next stage, to develop, test, and determine the validity of nursing care plans for the remaining nursing diagnoses. Nineteen medical and surgical wards were selected for the study ; the 176 staff nurses working on those wards and 1211 patients hospitalized there (603 patients during the nursing care plan use) took part in the project. The following summarizes the results of the study : 1. After listing all the nursing diagnoses up to the 20th in frequency from each ward except the ten used in the first study, 22 nursing diagnoses were selected. Two related to ‘self care deficit’, were combined into one. Standardized nursing care plans were established for these 21 nursing diagnoses. 2. The first page of each nursing care plan lists the related factors and defining characteristics as supporting data. The application rate distribution revealed that the majority were recorded less than 50% of the time. For each nursing diagnosis, only one to three related factors were recorded more than 50% of the time regardless of the number of suggested related factors, and similarly, only one to five defining characteristics were recorded more than 50% of the time regardless of the number of suggested defining characteristics. Therefore, these factors and defining characteristics were proposed as the common related factors and the typical signs and symptoms for each nursing diagnosis. 3. The application rate distribution for the expected outcomes, and the nursing orders that were the main data of each nursing care plan occurred more than 50% of the time, unlike the related factors and the characteristics that occurred less frequently. These findings supported the clinical validity. 4. In an effort to evaluate indirectly the effect of the use of the standardized nursing care plans, nurses' job satisfaction and perceptions of their ability in the use of the nursing process were measured and compared. Scores after the use of the plans were significantly higher than those before. The experience in actually using the standardized nursing care plans with patients increased the nurses' professional and emotional satisfaction and their confidence in using the nursing process. Also when the nurses who actually used the nursing care plans were asked to rate their effectiveness, the highest score was given to ‘the ease of establishing the nursing goal’, followed by ‘improved professional advice and care for patients’, ‘the efficiency and systemization of charting’, ‘the definite recognition of the nursing problem’, and ‘the selection of effective and appropriate nursing interventions’ in descending order. The results indicate the nurses were very positive about the effect of the real clinical application of standardized nursing care plans, and that the objective of this study to utilize the nursing diagnosis to strengthen the nursing process was attained.
The lack of a comprehensive theory describing the mechanism of adaptation scientifically has been one of the limiting factors for the development of nursing intervention of patients with chronic illness. Since Roy's theory provides the general conceptual framework depicting adaptation process with structural stimuli and control mechanism, it is appropriate to understand the process of adaptation. But in Roy's theory, the propositions about cognator and regulator as control mechanisms are not clearly defined. For this reason, most of the previous researches applying the Roy's theory have disregarded the study of cognator and regulator. For the patients with chronic illness such as rheumatoid arthritis, it was reported that adaptation states were different for the same stimuli due to the difference of the control mechanism. Moreover in nursing it is important to identify the control mechanism which can be and must be intervened by nurses. It was the Lazarus and Folkman's theory that proposed the control mechanism. They suggested that individual differences in the reaction against the perceived stress are due to the difference in appraisal and coping. Therefore, the synthesis of Roy's and Lazarus and Folkman's propositions might help to clearly understand the mechanism of adaptation. From this point, a theoretical framework has been developed and tested. The subjects were the 297 patients who had been diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis and attended the outpatient clinic. A hypothetical prediction model of adaptation was tested by the covariance structure analysis with PC-LISREL 7.13. As a result, the overall fit was good($x^2$=78.83, p=0.00 ; GFI=0.96 : AGFI=0.90 ; RMR=0.04) for the hypothetical model. In the final model added GA(5, 1), the overall fit was increased ($x^2$=57.82, p=0.003 ; GFI=0.97 ; AGFI=0.93 : RMR=0.036). Except the fact that illness symptoms affected physical adaptation directly, it was supported that focal and contextual stimuli affected physical and psychosocial adaptation through appraisal and coping. Therefore, it was asserted that the synthesis of two theory's propositions was appropriate. So this model would be useful for the theoretical framework in the nursing practice. And this study synthesizing and testing the theory might contribute to establish nursing's scientific base.
A study on the factors affecting subjective symptoms of labor working in textile industries was carried out from June I to 30 in 1991. A total of 870 laborers were selected from the textile industries at Taegu, Kyungbuk in Korea. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors affecting subjective symptoms and improve the health condition of the labor in the industries. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: 1. 72.5% of the respondents were females and 27.5% were males. 45% of them were in the age group of between 20 and 29 years old, 25.7% were between 10 and 19 years old and 14.4% were between 30 and 39 years old. 57.6% finished high school level education, 70.6% were single, 31.2% had religion of Buddhism and 57.3% lived in the dormitory. Financially, 45% of them partially supported their family members. 2. 34.5% of the respondants were working in the administrative areas and the rest were working in the production areas. The period of working was 1~4 years. 64.7% of them owned their houses. 72.9% worked for a shift. 15.9% were satisfied with their job and 17.1% were not satisfied with their job. 3. 44.0% of the respondants complained about eye problems and more females than males complained about problems. 4. The laborers in the age group of between 40 and 49 years old complained about serious headache and younger laborers complained about respiratory problems. 5. 50% of unmarried laborers complained about eye problems, 40% of night workers felt aches in their empty stomach. 6. 54.4% of the respondents working in manufacturing department complained about eye problems, 29.5% of working in processing department complained about headache and 43.4% of the respondents working in spinning department complained about shoulder ache. 7. Most laborers went to the drug stores for their health. 8. 60.7% of teen ages complained about their irregular menstruation. 51.7% of the in twenties complained about pain during the period. 45.8% of the respondents in thirties complained about nervous system. The women working nights show 74.1% in all three and highest complaint rate. According to the conclusion of this study, it is recommended that more money should be spent on better health education for the laborers in textile industries. Also it is recommended that the policies and supports for them should be strengthened.
