Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify the level of resilience, autonomous motivation, depression and self-care and their correlates in elders with hypertension. Methods: The participants were 200 elders with hypertension living in J, I, and K city. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews using the Resilience Scale, Treatment Self Regulation Questionnaire, Short Form Geriatric Depression Scale, and Hypertension Self-care Scale. Results: Total scores for resilience, autonomous motivation, depression, and self-care were $109.65{\pm}20.78$, $38.18{\pm}5.99$, $8.33{\pm}2.61$, and $52.06{\pm}6.94$, respectively. Autonomous motivation, income, acceptance of self and life, resilience, experience of hypertension education, and gender were verified as factors influencing self-care. These factors accounted for 51.6% of self-care. Conclusion: Understanding these factors is essential for developing effective interventions to improve self-care in elders with hypertension.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of self-esteem and self-resilience while identifying the relationship between bullying victimization (being bullied) and depression based on a longitudinal study design. Methods: Participants were adolescent cohort of 1,971 middle school students participating in 2013 and 2014 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey conducted by National Youth Policy Institute. Data were analyzed by Pearson's Correlation and regression. Results: The major findings are as follows. First, self-esteem and self-resilience were positively related to each other and negatively related to depression and bullying victimization. Second, bullying victimization effected the level of depression of adolescents and self-esteem played a mediating role between bullying victimization and depression while self-resilience did not. Conclusion: The results suggest that emotional factors continue to play an important role in promoting psychological adjustment of victims of bullying. Therefore, interventions are more likely to be successful if they focus on emotional skills development of adolescents.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the levels of resilience, depression, and self-esteem of hemodialysis(HD) patients, and to find out the factors influencing resilience. Methods: The subjects of this descriptive correlational study was 83 outpatients in H hospital in Seoul, Korea, who receive hemodialysis regularly. Data was analyzed by SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: The resilience of HD patients were statistically different by gender, job, economical state, most supportive person, and recent condition. Self-esteem had positive correlation, while depression had moderate negative correlation with the resilience of HD patients. In regression analysis, depression had significant explanation power, which accounted for 25.4% of the resilience. Conclusion: The results of this study provide basic data for developing a resilience promoting program. Since health-related conditions of HD patients affect their levels of resilience, individualized assessment and management of complications are necessary. Also, as the resilience is related to family support, activating support groups for HD patients and their spouses would be helpful to promote their resilience.
This study invesitgated the mediation effect of self-resilience on the relationship between perceived family strength and adolescents' level of adjustment at school. Participants were 479 elementary and middle school students from Daejeon. Data were analysed by SPSS 12.0 and Structural Equation Modeling with AMOS 5.0. Results were as follows: Firstly, family strength gives a direct effect on adolescent's school adjustment. Secondly, family strength is mediated by self-resilience on adolescent's school adjustment. Thirdly, significant differences in the path coefficients of the two groups were not found. These results indicate that we should expand the subjects of family and juvenile welfare, including general adolescents and general families, in order to improve family strength. In addition, programs such as the personal relationship and confidence elevation programs should be enacted to support elementary students' self-resilience.

This study examined the relationships among self-management, physical self-efficacy, and resilience of middle-aged golf participants in 237 golf range users located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daejeon, Daegu, Gangwon, and Gwangju. To achieve this goal, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equating modeling were conducted using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The main findings were as follows. First, self-management had a positive effect on the physical self-efficacy. Second, physical self-efficacy had a positive effect on resilience. Third, self-management had a positive effect on resilience. Fourth, physical self-efficacy mediated the relationship between self-management and resilience. Therefore, various methods for increasing the level of self-management and physical self-efficacy for middle age golf participants should be found in multiple perspectives.

Methods : This structured questionnaire survey was conducted with 409 high school students in G province. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 program with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, regression analysis and sobel test. Results : As a result, there were significant correlations among mental health, resilience, self-esteem, social support, and well-being. Resilience and social support showed partial mediating effects on the relationship between the mental health and well-being of high school students. Self-esteem showed a fully mediating effect. Conclusion : Therefore, to reduce mental health problems among high school students and to enhance their well-being, it is necessary for schools to develop mental health education programs and to apply effective mental health improvement strategies using resilience, self-esteem, and social support as mediators.
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of hemodialysis patients' uncertainty and resilience and the communication styles of nurses on the self-care of the patients and to improve their quality of life. Methods: The study was conducted from June 13 to July 12, 2019, with patients receiving hemodialysis more than three times a week at five medical institutions located in G metropolitan city. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: The factors influencing self-care were resilience (β=.43, p<.001) and marital status (β=.27, p=.001), which explained 30.8% of the variance. Conclusion: The resilience of hemodialysis patients was confirmed to be the main variable influencing self-care. Therefore, to improve the self-care of hemodialysis patients, it is considered that the development of interventions and programs to improve resilience is necessary.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the influence of professional self-concept, ego-resilience, and job stress on job performance in reemployed nurses after career interruption. Methods: The participants were 207 nurses who worked at hospitals with more than 100 beds located in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces. The nurses had experienced a career interruption of at least one year, and had less than five years of experience at the current workplace. The collected data were analyzed utilizing SPSS 24.0 program and using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: The participants' job performance, professional self-concepts, ego-resilience, and job stress showed significant positive correlations. It was found that the professional self-concept, ego-resilience, and job stress had an effect on the participant's job performance in order, and explained 51.3% of variance in job performance. Conclusion: To improve the job performance of career disconnected nurses, it is necessary to reinforce job stress control, professional self-concept, and level of ego-resilience.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediation effects of self-esteem on the relationship between meaning in life and resilience in middle-aged adults. The data were collected from May to June 2019 by giving a questionnaire to 148 middle-aged adults between the ages of 45-64 years. The research tools were meaning in life, self-esteem, and resilience. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The result showed that the difference in resilience relating to general characteristics were significant age, religion, and health. There were significant positive correlations among meaning in life, self-esteem, and resilience. Self-esteem had a mediating effect on the relationship between meaning in life and resilience. Based on the findings of this study, in order to strengthen the resilience of middle-aged adults, it is necessary to develop a program that promotes self-esteem as well as meaning in life.
