The Relationship Between Life-Learning Competency and Self-Directed Learning Ability, Problem-Solving Ability, and Academic Achievement of University Students in the Context of Higher Education

  • The purpose of this study was to examine whether respondents showed gender differences in life- learning competency, self-directed learning ability, problem-solving ability, and academic achievement and to identify relationships among variables of university students in the context of higher education. To address those goal, the data set was analyzed that nationally collected from Korea Youth Competency Measurement and International Comparative Research III by National Youth Policy Institute in South Korea. 680 samples were used in the study that were 343 males and 337 females of university students. As results, statistically significant difference was showed in the participants' gender. Male university students were higher score than female university students in All variables. Also, learning agility in life-learning competency was strongly related to self-directed learning ability and problem-solving. Thinking skills in life-learning competency was strongly related to academic achievement in university students in higher education. In terms of learning strategy in the context of higher education, some suggestions have been made for university students.

  • Purpose: This study investigated the effects of evidence-based practice competency, self-leadership, and organizational commitment on professional self-concept of nurses in regional trauma centers. Methods: The 98 research participants were nurses with clinical experience of a year or more. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, Mann-Whitney U test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients were computed, and multiple regression analysis was conducted. Results: Professional self-concept showed statistically significant differences according to marital status, religion, and educational background, and was positively correlated with and affected by evidence-based practice competency, self-leadership, and organizational commitment. Conclusion: Trauma nursing education programs should include evidence-based practice competency and self-leadership and organizational support should be provided to improve the professional self-concept of nurses in regional trauma centers.

졸업학년 간호대학생의 자기관리역량과 취업준비행동에 대한 융합연구 : 학업적 자기효능감의 매개효과 (A Convergence Study on Self-management Competency and Employment Preparation Behavior of Senior Nursing Students : Mediating effect of Academic Self-efficacy)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생의 자기관리역량과 취업준비행동과의 관계에서 학업적 자기효능감의 매개효과를 규명하기 위한 목적으로 시행되었다. 연구대상자는 J도 및 G시에 소재한 3개 대학교 4학년 간호대학생 190명이다. 수집된 자료로 SPSS 26.0 프로그램을 이용하여 기술분석, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation 및 multiple regression을 실시하였다. 본 연구결과, 자기관리역량은 학업적 자기효능감, 취업준비행동과, 학업적 자기효능감은 취업준비행동과 정적상관을 보였다. 학업적 자기효능감은 자기관리역량과 취업준비행동 사이에서 부분매개효과를 나타냈고, 자기관리역량 및 학업적 자기효능감 수준이 높을수록 취업준비행동 수준이 높아지며, 취업준비행동을 설명하는 설명력(R2)은 34%이었다. 따라서 간호대학생의 취업준비행동을 촉진하기 위해서는 자기관리역량 함양 및 이를 통해 학업적 자기효능감을 유도할 수 있는 통합적인 전략 마련이 중요함을 시사한다.

요양병원 간호사의 간호역량 영향요인 (Influential Factors Associated with Nursing Competency of Nurses in Long-term Care Hospitals)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate influencing factors on nursing competency of nurses in long-term care hospitals. Methods: A descriptive research design was used with a convenience sample of 150 nurses. Data were collected from Feb 15 to Mar 8, 2017 using self-reported questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: The mean scores of self-efficacy, organizational citizenship behavior and nursing competency were 3.84 out of 5, 3.77 out of 5 and 3.80 out of 5, respectively. Nursing competency was positively correlated with self-efficacy (r=.63, p<.001) and organizational citizenship behavior (r=.64, p<.001). Factors influencing on nursing competency were self-efficacy (${\beta}=.38$, p<.001), organizational citizenship behavior (${\beta}=.37$, p<.001) and Clinical career(${\beta}=.14$, p=.011), which explained 51% of the variance. Conclusion: Based on the finding of this study, it is necessary to develop education and intervention programs in order to increase the nursing competency for nurses in long-term care hospitals.

임상입문 특별실습교육프로그램의 운영 및 효과 (The Effects of Introductory Clinical Practice Education Program)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of introductory clinical practice education program for nursing students. The nursing students of 94 participated the introductory education program of 80 hours. The questionnaire survey on self efficacy and clinical competency were conducted 3 times(before education, after education, 2 months after education) to the nursing students. The data were analyzed by the SPSS 17.0 program. The results were as follows; The self efficacy and the clinical competency score showed a significant change in the posttest. Self efficacy and clinical competency have significant relationships with college life satisfaction, interpersonal relationship and academic aptitude satisfaction. Also, self efficacy has significant relationship with clinical competency and clinical practice satisfaction. As a result, the introductory clinical practice education program can be helpful to adjustment for nursing students before clinical practice.

시뮬레이션 후 구조화된 자가 디브리핑이 간호대학생의 임상수행능력, 자기효능감 및 교육 만족도에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Structured Self-Debriefing Using on the Clinical Competency, Self-Efficacy, and Educational Satisfaction in Nursing Students after Simulation)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of structured self-debriefing using 3S models on the clinical competency, self-efficacy, and educational satisfaction in nursing students after simulation. Methods: For this study, 76 third-year undergraduate nursing students from S university were invited. They were divided into two groups, which consisted of a self-debriefing (SDG=41) group and an instructor-led debriefing group (ILDG=35). Collected data was analyzed using Chi-square, t-test, and an independent t-test with the PASW statistics 18.0 for Windows Program. Results: Clinical competency was generally high in the SDG, and statistically significant differences between the SDG and the ILDG occurred after simulations 3, 4, and 5. There were no statistically significant differences in self-efficacy and educational satisfaction between the SDG and the ILDG. However, educational satisfaction in the SDG was slightly higher, while self-efficacy was low compared to the ILDG. Conclusion: The results indicate that the method of structured self-debriefing using a 3S model can be effective in improving clinical competency. Further studies need to be investigated.

  • Purpose: This study was to develop the clinical competency evaluation, and to examine the effects of the developed evaluation by comparing it with existing evaluation on clinical competency, communication skill, and self-efficacy of nursing students. Methods: Design was a randomized control group post-test design. The subjects were 102 senior nursing students(Experimental group: 48, Control group: 54) at K university in seoul, Korea. The experimental group took the clinical competency evaluation using standardized patients and the control group took the existing evaluation using a doll. The clinical competency and communication skills were measured by evaluators, and self-efficacy was self reported by the nursing students. Results: The experimental group had higher scores in clinical competency, communication skills, and self-efficacy than those in the control group. Conclusion: Through these results, practice education of nursing education programs need to activate the clinical competency evaluation using standardized patients.

중소병원 간호사의 비판적 사고성향과 셀프리더십이 임상수행능력에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Nurses' Critical Thinking Disposition and Self-Leadership on Clinical Competency in Medium Sized Hospitals)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify nurses'critical thinking disposition, self-leadership and clinical competency in small to medium sized hospitals less than 300beds. Methods: Data were collected using the questionnaire from 227 nurses in Incheon city and Gyeonggi province from March to April, 2017. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and $Scheff{\acute{e}}^{\prime}s$ test to identify differences in critical thinking disposition, self-leadership and clinical competency. Pearson correlation coefficients were used to identify the correlation among the study variables, and multiple regression was used to identify factors contributing to clinical competency. Results: There were significant differences in critical thinking disposition according to age, marital status, clinical career, career in currently working department and education about leadership. Significant differences in self-leadership were identified according to marital status, work position, working department, work type, education about leadership, and turnover intention. Clinical competency was significantly different depending on age, education, monthly income, work position, career in currently working department, work type, education about critical thinking disposition and education about leadership. Clinical competency was positively correlated critical thinking disposition and self-leadership. Critical thinking deposition, monthly income and self-leadership explained 30.1% of clinical competency of nurses working in small to medium sized hospitals. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that we need to improve nurses'critical thinking disposition, self-leadership, and the clinical competency.

여대생의 취업을 향상시키기 위한 자기개발역량과 취업준비도의 구조적 분석 (Structural Analysis of Self-Development Competency and Employment Readiness to improve the Job Achievement of Women's University Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 여대생의 취업준비와 밀접한 관련이 있는 자기개발역량과 취업준비도를 구조적으로 분석하여 그 영향관계를 파악하고, 취업준비도 향상을 위해 집중해야할 요인을 파악하여 궁극적으로 여대생의 취업이 잘 되도록 하는 것이다. 연구절차와 방법에서 자기개발역량과 취업준비도에 대한 변수를 상세화하고 연구모형을 생성하였으며, 변수간의 영향관계를 구조적으로 분석하는 과정에서 연구모형을 개선하였다. 본 연구의 결과로 취업준비도 향상에 가장 중요한 변수는 경력개발능력으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 기여도는 자아인식능력과 자기관리능력이 경력개발능력의 매개효과에 의해 취업준비도에 긍정적 영향을 가진다는 것을 밝혀낸 것이며, 특히 경력개발능력이 여대생의 취업준비도 향상에 결정적인 변수라는 것을 밝힌 것이다. 자기개발능력의 향상을 위한 새로운 교육정책의 입안은 여대생의 취업에 도움이 될 것으로 기대하며, 향후 연구에서 구체적인 교육 방안과 실행에 대한 사례분석이 본 연구를 기반으로 더욱 발전되어 나타나기를 기대한다.

Statistical Analysis of Clinical Nursing Competency and Self-Efficacy in Nursing Students

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical nursing competence and self-efficacy of 4th and 2nd semester nursing college students who completed most of the performance-based nursing education curriculum. It was attempted to develop competency evaluation and competency-based curriculum. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, $scheff{\bar{e}}$ test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and Stepwise multiple regression in SPSS WIN 24.0 program. The findings of this study were as follows. 1) The knowledge level of essential basic nursing skills received a score of 88.95. The overall average score of clinical performance was 3.15 out of 5. The mean score of self-efficacy was $4.14{\pm}0.57$ points on 6 points 2) Among the general characteristics of subjects, 'motivation of major selection' and 'satisfaction of practice time' differed in the knowledge of essential basic nursing skills, 'religion' and 'health status' differed in clinical performance ability and 'interpersonal relationship', 'motivation of major selection', 'major satisfaction', 'satisfaction of practice time', 'nursing satisfaction', 'desired working period' and 'average rating' differed in self-efficacy. 3) The self-efficacy showed a significant positive correlation with the clinical nursing competency including the knowledge of essential basic nursing skills and clinical performance ability. The nursing satisfaction, clinical performance ability, the knowledge of essential basic nursing skills, interpersonal relationship and average rating influenced significantly and explained 23.7% of the subjects' self-efficacy.
