Selective laser sintering(SLS), a kind of rapid prototyping technology, can provide a process to form many types of coatings. Coated layers by selective laser melting are highly influenced by substrate, powder and laser parameters such as laser power, scan rate, fill spacing and layer thickness. Therefore an attempt to fabricate Fe-Ni-Cr coating on AISI H13 tool steel has been performed by selective laser sintering. In this study, Fe-Ni-Cr coating was produced by experimental facilities consisting of a 200W fiber laser which can be focused to 0.08mm and atmospheric chamber which can control atmospheric pressure with Ar. With power increase or energy density decrease, line width was decreased and line surface quality was improved with energy density increase. Surface quality of coating layer was improved with fill spacing optimization or layer thickness decrease.
The chemical composition of the black Cr solar selective coatings electrodeposited were investigated for property analysis by using a XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) before and after annealing in air at $300^{\circ}C{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ for 120 hours. Black Cr selective coating exposed by solar radiation for 5 months was compared with annealed sample. In addition, The Cu solar selective coatings were prepared by thermal oxidation method for low temperature application. The samples obtained were characterized by using the optical reflectance measurements by using a spectrometer. Optical properties of oxidized Cu solar coatings were solar absorptance $({\alpha}){\simeq}0.62$ and thermal emittance $({\epsilon}){\simeq}0.41(100^{\circ}C)$. In the as-prepared Cr black selective coating, the surface of the coating was found to have Cr hydroxide and Cr. The Cr hydroxide of the major component was converted to $Cr_2O_3$ or $CrO_3$ form after annealing at $500^{\circ}C$ with the desorption of water molecules. The black Cr selective coating was degraded significantly at temperature of $500^{\circ}C$. The main optical degradation modes of this coating were diffusion of Cu substrate materials.
Black cobalt solar selective coatings were prepared by using an electroplating method. The changes in the optical properties of the black cobalt selective coating due to thermal degradation were analyzed by using the Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and spectrophotometer. The black cobalt selective coating was prepared on a copper substrate by using a synthesized electrolyte with $CoCl_2$ and KSCN at a current density of ${\sim}0.5A/dm^2$ for 45s ~ 60s. Its optical properties were a solar absorptance (${\alpha}$) of the order of 0.80 ~ 0.84 and a thermal emittance (${\epsilon}$) of 0.01. From the AES depth profile analysis of heated sample, thermal degradation of the black cobalt selective coating heated for 33 hours at temperature of $350^{\circ}C$ occurred primarily due to interdiffusion at interface of cobalt and copper substrate. This results were predictable that the ${\alpha}$ decreases due to the thermal oxidation and diffusion.
Black cobalt solar selective coatings were prepared by thermal oxidation of electroplated cobalt metal on copper and nickel substrates. The optical properties and structure of the black cobalt selective coating for solar energy utilizations were characterized by glow discharge spectrometry (GDS), ultraviolet-visible-near infrared (UV-VIS-NIR) spectrometer, atom force microscopy(AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The optical properties of optimum black cobalt selective coating prepared on copper substrate were a solar absorptance of 0.82 and a thermal emittance of 0.01. From the GDS depth profile analysis of these coatings, the concentration of cobalt particles near the interface was higher than at the surface, but oxygen concentration at the surface was higher than at the interface. These results suggest that the selective absorption was dominated by this chemical composition variation in the coating. The surface of this film exhibited morphology with root-mean-square(rms) roughness of about 144.3nm. XPS measurements data showed that several phases of Co coexist($Co_3O_4$,CoO) in the film.
We report on a new method of fabricating color filters based on selective wetting of color inks. The reversible formation of a hydrophobic layer provides sequential generation and protection of successive color filter patterns through a simple coating process. The transmittance and geometrical properties of the fabricated color filter were described.
Zr-O ($Zr-ZrO_2$) cermets solar selective coatings with a double cermets layer film structure were prepared using a DC (direct current) magnetron sputtering method. The typical film structure from surface to bottom substrate were an $Al_2O_3$ anti-reflection layer on a double Zr-O cermets layer on an Al metal infrared reflection layer. Optical properties of optimized Zr-O cermets solar selective coating had an absorptance of ${\alpha}\;=\;0.95$ and thermal omittance of ${\epsilon}\;=\;0.10\;(100^{\circ}C)$. The absorbing layer of Zr-O cermets coatings on glass and silicon substrate was identified as being amorphous by using XRD. AFM showed that ZF-O cermets layers were very smooth and their surface roughness were approximately $0.1{\sim}0.2 nm$. The chemical analysis of the cermets coatings were determined by using XPS. Chemical shift of photoelectron binding energy was occurred due to the change of Zr-O cermets coating structure deposited with increase in oxygen flow rate. The result of thermal stability test showed that the Zr-O cermets solar selective coating was stable for use at temperature below $350^{\circ}C$.
One of the most important factors that have a large influence on performance of the solar water heater system is performance of the solar collector, more detailedly, coating technology on the surface of the solar collector, which can provide high solar absorptance and low emittance. The core of the coating technology is to coat solar selective surfaces. In this study, various performance experiments are carried out using $Cr_2(SO_4)_3{\cdot}15H_2O$ coating technology. Here, IGBT(Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) of 5000A-15V was used as the surface processing rectifier which can stably output power and also can control voltage and current. The plating solution mainly contains black chrome$^{+3}$ concentration, H-y Conductivity, N-u Complex, NF Additive and NC-2 Wetter. Before applying the black chrome coating on the copper plate, optimal conditions are provided by using various preprocessing methods such as removal of fat, activation, electrolytic polishing, nickel strike, copper sulfate plating and bright neckel plating, and then the automatic continuous coating experiment are performed according to plating time and cathode current density. In the experiment, after the removal of fat, chemical polishing, nickel strike and activation processes as the preprocessing methods, the black chrome coating was performed in a plate solution temperature of $28^{\circ}C$ and a cathode current density of $18A/cm^2$ for 90 seconds. The thickness of chrome and nickel on the coated plate is $0.389{\mu}m$, $159{\mu}m$ respectively. As a result of the coating experiment, it showed the most excellent performance having a high solar absorptance of 98% and a low emittance of $5{\pm}1%$ when the black chrome surface had a thickness of $0.398{\mu}m$.

Miniaturized sensors capable of both sensitive and selective real-time monitoring of target analytes are tremendously valuable for various applications ranging from hazard detection to medical diagnostics. The wide-spread use of such sensors is currently limited due to insufficient selectivity for target molecules. We developed selective nanocoatings by combining trinitrotoluene (TNT) receptors bound to conjugated polydiacetylene (PDA) with single-walled carbon nanotube-field effect transistors (SWNT-FET). Selective binding events between TNT molecules and phage display derived TNT receptors were effectively transduced to sensitive SWNT-FET conductance sensors through the PDA coating. The resulting sensors exhibited unprecedented 1 fM sensitivity toward TNT in real time, with excellent selectivity over various similar aromatic compounds. Our biomimetic receptor coating approach may be useful for the development of sensitive and selective micro and nanoelectronic sensor devices for various other target analytes.
A simple and versatile method of fabricating color patterns in two-dimension (2D) and three-dimension (3D) was developed using the selective-wettability approach. Red, green, and blue color elements are sequentially formed on a single substrate in a pattern-by-pattern and/or pattern-on-pattern fashion, through a simple coating process. Either 2D or 3D structures in an array format are produced by controlling the thickness of the hydrophobic layer (HL) coating a substrate within the framework of wetting transition. Moreover, it was demonstrated that the stacked geometry of two successive patterns can be easily tailored for various types of color arrays, with the pattern fidelity of a few tens of nanometers in terms of only a parameter of the HL thickness.
The elemental composition of electro-deposited black Cr solar selective coatings before and after heating in air by using secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) was investigated for optical property analysis. In addition, black Cr selective coating exposed by solar radiation for 5 months was compared with heated sample. SIMS investigation shows that $OH^+$ bearing ions were related to a near surface region of CrOH and CrO compound. The optical degradation of this coating after heating at $500^{\circ}C$ reveals that diffusion of the Cu and Ni elements in substrate material, the chemical interactions adjacent to the interface, and the interface width broadening.
