기상 환원제를 사용하는 선택적 환원촉매에서 유동혼합 개선에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON FLOW MIXING IMPROVEMENT OF SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCTION USING GASEOUS REDUCTANT)

  • Since emission regulations for vehicles have become more stringent, SCR technology has drawn a strong attention in order to reduce NOx emissions. Optimal design of a reductant injection nozzle and a multi-hole plate located between the cone and catalyst is critical in that the uniform distribution of reductant is necessary to maximize the NOx conversion efficiency and minimize the slip of reductant in SCR. In this work, an LPG fuel(C3H8 in vapor state) was used as a reductant for LPG vehicles. A Realizable k-$\varepsilon$ model is used for turbulence, and SCR body is defined as porous media with inertia and viscous resistances measured in this work. Effect of the number of nozzle holes on the flow mixing index was analyzed, which revealed that a four hole nozzle shows the best performance in terms of uniformity of flow. An installment of a multi-hole plate at the entrance of catalyst was evaluated with flow mixing index, uniformity of flow, and pressure drop. A multi-hole plate with gradual hole diameter change in three steps showed the best uniformity of flow within the conditions suggested in this work.

  • Bypass line과 Catalyst를 공간적으로 결합한 Bypass 일체형 탈질설비를 제안하였다. 탈질설비 내부에 설치되는 Bypass의 개폐장치의 형태에 따른 Catalyst로의 유동 변화를 확인하기 위하여 상용프로그램인 Ansys Fluent를 사용하여 탈질설비를 모델링하고 시뮬레이션을 구성하였다. 탈질설비 내의 Catalyst로 인한 계산시간과 Mesh의 수를 줄이기 위해 Porous media방식으로 Catalyst를 모델링하였다. Catalyst로의 입구각도와 Bypass 개폐장치의 크기를 변화시키면서 시뮬레이션을 수행하고 시뮬레이션의 결과로 Catalyst로의 유동 평균속도와 균일도의 변화를 확인하였다.

  • 디젤엔진은 열효율이 높고 연비가 좋으며 CO, HC 및 $CO_2$의 배출량이 낮은 등 가솔린 엔진보다 상당한 장점이 있다. 그러나 디젤엔진은 배기가스 중에 $O_2$ 농도가 높기 때문에 NOx 저감이 어렵고, 삼원촉매를 적용하기 어렵다. Urea-SCR과 LNT는 디젤엔진에서 NOx를 연속적으로 저감하는데 활용 가능한 두 기술이다. 디자인 엔진에 Urea-SCR 시스템을 구현함으로써 2.5l 이상 엔진에서 Euro-6의 강화된 NOx 기준을 충족시킬 수 있게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 엔진 회전속도, 부하, 촉매 방식 및 $NH_3$/NOx 비율에 따른 NOx 저감 특성을 연구하여 NOx 저감을 극대화하는 조건을 제시하고자 한다. 또한 Euro-6 이상의 규제에 대응할 수 있도록 Urea-SCR에 대한 정밀한 실험 데이터를 제공하고자 한다.

선박용 디젤엔진 SCR 시스템 요소 기술에 관한 기초 연구 (Preliminary Study on Factor Technology of Selective Catalytic Reduction System in Marine Diesel Engine)

  • 2016년부터 배출통제지역(ECA : Emission Control Atea)을 운항하는 선박에 대하여 배출되는 NOx(질소산화물) 및 SOx(황산화물)의 배기량 감소규제가 강화되었다. 상기의 규제 물질 중 NOx를 제거하는 탈질장비 중 선택적 촉매 환원(SCR : Selectivity Catalytic Reduction) 시스템은 효율이 높고 상업적으로 많이 활용되고 있으나, 높은 온도에서 요소수가 활성화되는 단점이 있다. 이에 초미세기포를 이용하여 낮은 온도에서도 반응할 수 있는 요소수 및 요소수 활성화 기기를 개발하여 상기의 문제점들을 최소화 할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 SCR 시스템의 효율성을 향상시키는 방안을 마련하기 위하여, ANSYS-CFX package를 이용한 전산유체역학(CFD : Computational fluid dynamics)기법을 사용하였다. Navier-Stokes 방정식을 해석의 지배방정식으로 적용하여 SCR 시스템의 점성유동해석 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. SCR 시스템의 형상은 CATIA V5를 사용하여 3D 모델링을 하였고, SCR 시스템의 효율성을 비교하기 위해 요소수 분사 노즐의 위치를 요소수 분사 노즐은 배기관의 입구로부터 1/3, 1/2, 2/3로 변경하며 확인하였다. 또한, 노즐의 분사구 수가 SCR 시스템의 효율에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위하여 분사구 수가 4, 6, 8개일 경우를 시뮬레이션 하여 비교 분석하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 배기관 입구에 가까울수록, 분사구 수가 많을수록 효율이 향상됨을 확인하였다.

Effects of Different Precursors on the Surface Mn Species Over $MnO_x/TiO_2$ for Low-temperature SCR of NOx with $NH_3$

  • The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of $MnO_x$ with $NH_3$ is an effective method for the removal of $MnO_x$ from stationary system. The typical catalyst for this method is $V_2O_5-WO_3(MoO_3)/TiO_2$, caused by the high activity and stability. However, This catalyst is active within $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$ and occurs the pore plugging from the deposition of ammonium sulfate salts on the catalysts surface. It needs to locate the SCR unit after the desulfurizer and electrostatic precipitator without reheating of the flue gas as well as deposition of dust on the catalyst. The manganese oxides supported on titania catalysts have attracted interest because of its high SCR activity at low temperature. The catalytic activity of $MnO_x/TiO_2$ SCR catalyst with different manganese precursors have investigated for low-temperature SCR in terms of structural, morphological, and physico-chemical analyses. The $MnO_x/TiO_2$ were prepared from three different precursors such as manganese nitrate, manganese acetate (II), and manganese acetate (III) by the sol-gel method and then it calcinated at $500^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr. The structural analysis was carried out to identify the phase transition and the change intensity of catalytic activity by various manganese precursors was analyzed by FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy. These different precursors also led to various surface Mn concentrations indicated by SEM. The Mn acetate (III) tends to be more suppressive the crystalline phase (rutile), and it has not only smaller particle size, but also better distributed than the others. It was confirmed that the catalytic activity of MA (III)-$MnO_x/TiO_2$ was the highest among them.

Dynamic Characteristics of a Urea SCR System for NOx Reduction in Diesel Engine

  • This paper discusses dynamic characteristics of a urea-SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. The urea flow rate to improve NOx conversion efficiency is generally determined by parameters such as catalyst temperature and space velocity. The urea-SCR system was tested in the various engine operating conditions governing the raw NOx emission levels, space velocity. and SCR catalyst temperature. These experiments include cold-transients to determine catalyst light-off temperature and urea flow rate transients. Likewise. ammonia storage dynamics was also investigated. The cold-transient results indicate the light-off temperature of the catalysts used in these experiments was $200-220^{\circ}C$. The ammonia storage and urea flow rate transients all indicate very slow dynamics (on the order of seconds) which presents control challenges for mobile applications. The results presented in this paper should provide an excellent starting point in developing a functional in-vehicle urea-SCR system.

  • 질소산화물은 천연가스, 석유, 석탄과 같은 화석연료 연소 시에 배출되는 대표적 오염물질로 산성비를 유발시키며, 오존, PAN, aldehyde와 같은 광화학 산화물을 형성하여 광화학 스모그를 유발한다. 따라서 NOx 제어의 필요성은 더욱 강조되고 있다. NOx 처리 공정 중 대표적인 SNCR(Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction)공정은 N-계열 시약(환원제)을 노내의 온도가 90$0^{\circ}C$에서 110$0^{\circ}C$인 구역으로 주입하여 NOx가 복잡한 단위반응들을 거쳐서 N2와 $H_2O$로 분해되는 저감기술의 하나로서 초기 설치비가 저렴하고 단기간에 쉽게 설치 가능한 기술이지만, 대부분 외국기술의 도입에 의존하고 있는 실정이므로 국내개발을 필요로 한다.   • 50 kW$_{th}$ 용량의 기체연료버너에서 암모니아 기체와 요소용액을 이용한 선택적 무촉매 환원법 (SNCR;Selective Non-catalytic Reduction) 으로 질소산화물 (NOx) 저감에 관하여 연구하였다. 암모니아는 요소요액보다 더 낮은 반응온도에서 더 높은 효율을 보여주지만 경제성과 암모니아의 부식성 및 맹독성으로 인하여 취급하기에 곤란한 점이 있다. 반면에 요소용액은 적절한 액상첨가제와 기상첨가제를 사용하여 넓은 반응온도범위에서 높은 효율을 얻을 수 있으며 공정상의 조업비를 절감할 수 있다. 본 실험에서는 액상 첨가제인 $CH_3$OH 와 $C_2$H$_{5}$OH 을 사용하여 5$0^{\circ}C$ 정도의 최적반응온도 감소를 얻었으며 LPG 와 합성가스(CH$_4$:CO:H$_2$:$CO_2$=1:4:4:2) 틀 기상 첨가제로 사용하여 높은 질소산화물 저감 효율을 관찰하였다.

The Investigation of a Novel Indicator System for Trace Determination and Speciation of Selenium in Natural Water Samples by Kinetic Spectrophotometric Detection

  • A novel catalytic kinetic method is proposed for the determination of Se(IV), Se(VI) and total inorganic selenium in water based on the catalytic effect of Se(IV) on the reduction of bromate by p-nitrophenylhydrazine at pH 3.0. The generated bromine, $Br_2$ or $Cl_2$ plus $Br_2$ in 0.1 M NaCl (or NaBr) environment efficiently decolorized Calmagite and the reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically at 523 nm as a function of time. In this indicator reaction, bromide acted as an activator for the catalysis of selenium (IV) and a reducing agent for selenium (VI) at pH 3.0, which allowed the determination of total selenium. The fixed time method was adopted for the determination and speciation of inorganic selenium. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration graph are linear in the range 1 - 35 ${\mu}gL^{-1}$ of Se(IV) for the fixed time method at $25^{\circ}C$. The detection limit based on statistical $3S_{blank}$/m-criterion was 0.215 ${\mu}gL^{-1}$ for the fixed time method (7 min). All of the variables that affect the sensitivity at 523 nm were investigated, and the optimum conditions were established. The interference effect of various cations and anions on the Se (IV) determination was also studied. The selectivity of the selenium determination was greatly improved with the use of the strongly cation exchange resin such as Amberlite IR120 plus. The proposed kinetic method was validated statistically and through recovery studies in natural water samples. The RSDs for ten replicate measurements of 5, 15 and 25 ${\mu}gL^{-1}$ of Se(IV) and Se(VI) was changed between 2.1 - 4.85%. Analyses of a certified standard reference material (NIST SRM 1643e) for selenium using the fixed-time method showed that the proposed kinetic method has good accuracy. Se(IV), Se(VI) and total inorganic selenium in environmental water samples have been successfully determined by this method after selective reduction of Se(VI) to Se(IV).

북미 Tier2 Bin5 규제 대응을 위한 디젤 SCR 개발 (Diesel SCR Development to Meet US Tier2 Bin5 Emission Regulation)

  • The introduction of a diesel engine into the passenger car and light duty applications in the United States involves significant technical challenges for the automotive makers. This paper describes the SCR System optimization procedure for such a diesel engine application to meet Tier2 Bin5 emission regulation. A urea SCR system, a representative $NO_x$ reduction after-treatment technique, is applied to a 3.0 liter diesel engine. To achieve the maximum $NO_x$ reduction performance, the exhaust system layout was optimized using series of the computational fluid dynamics and the urea distribution uniformity test. Furthermore a comprehensive simulation model for the key factors influencing $NO_x$ reduction performance was developed and embedded in the Simulink/Matlab environment. This model was then applied to the urea SCR system and played a key role to shorten the time needed for SCR control parameter calibration. The potential of a urea SCR system for reducing diesel $NO_x$ emission is shown for FTP75 and US06 emission standard test cycle.
