상추 육성 및 선발을 위한 채종 효율증진을 위한 GA3 처리시기 및 농도 (Treatment Time and Concentration of GA3 for Increasing Efficiency of the Lettuce Seed Production for Lettuce Breeding and Selection)

  • 상추의 채종효율을 증진하기 위해서는 잎상추의 경우는 14엽기에 GA3 20mg/ℓ, 결구상추의 경우 혼합처리인 8+14엽기의 GA3 20mg/ℓ처리가 우수한 것으로 나타났다. GA3처리에 의한 고사율의 감소로 채종량이 엽상추는 50.9 → 14엽기 61.7ℓ/10a로 21% 증수 할 수 있었으며, 결구상추는 그 효과는 적었으나 8+14엽기에 GA3 20mg/ℓ처리시 무처리에 비해 14.2 →21.1ℓ/10a로 14.9% 증수효과가 있었다. 특히 결구상추 채종을 위해서는 6월 이후에 파종하는 것이 무름병과 균핵병에 의한 부패율을 경감시킬 수 있었다.

Effect of Cotton Leaf Mosaic Disease on Morphology, Yield and Fibre Characteristics of Upland Cotton in Pakistan

  • The effect of cotton leaf mosaic disease on morphology, yield and fibre characteristics was examined for a susceptible cotton candidate variety CRIS-168. Plants inoculated at most susceptible growth stage (six week) under screen house showed severe mosaic symptoms. There was a significant reduction in plant height and yield. Cotton leaf mosaic disease was found to produce severe effects on plant morphology with 24.1% reduction in plant height, 25% in internode length and 37.5% in number of sympodia on main stem. However no changes were observed against number of monopodial branches per plant. Inoculated plants showed 82% decrease in yield/plant, 80% in number of boll set/ plant, 12.1% in boll weight, 12.8% in lint weight, 10.8% in seed weight, and 6.8% in seed index. Cotton leaf mosaic disease also showed effects on fibre characteristics with 0.8% decrease in GOT and 1.6% in fibre length. In contrast, uniformity ratio, fibre fineness and maturity index was increased by 20.5%, 14.4% and 0.9%, respectively.

  • Swordbean was recently introduced to Korea, and cultural technique for stable production, e.g. optimum seeding date and planting space, has not been established. This experiment was conducted to elucidate the changes of growth characteristics, yield components, and yield as affected by different seeding dates and planting spaces. Days to flowering was shortened by 4∼28 days as seeding was delayed. Stem diameter, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, 100-seed weight, and seed yield tended to increase with delaying seeding up to 5 April and then to decrease with further delaying seeding. These results indicate that optimum seeding date of swordbean in unheated polyvinyl house would be early April. Although, the swordbean exhibited large increases in plant height, number of branches per plant, and stem diameter at the wider spacings, planting space could be decreased to the 60 cm plant-spacing and 30 cm row-spacing with no deleterious effect on yield.

겉뿌린 목초종자의 정착에 관한 연구 II. 각종 증량재 피복이 파종목초의 발아 , 정착 및 수량에 미치는 영향 (Studies on Establishment of Over sown Pasture Seed II. Effect of coating materials on germination and yield of pasture species)

  • The effects of coating materials on germination, establishment and herbage production were investigated in a laboratory and field over 1988-1989. For this purpose, four treatments of lime 50 % + briquet ash 50 %, briquet ash, dairy excreta and fowldung as coating material were applied to orchardgrass and red clover with meth ylcellulose. The germination rate of lime 50 % + briquet ash 50 % (70.6 %), briquet ash (84.0 %), dairy excreta (66.0 %) and fowldung (61.3 %) in orchardgrass were, showing lower than that of the control (86.6 %), respectively and the rate of red clover ranged from 59.0 to 18.6 %. Establishment in orchardgrass were from 2.0 to 0.9 %, showing lower than the control, whole a little higher except dairy excreta and fowldung treatments in red clover than the control. The DM yield of lime 50 % + briquet ash 50 % treatment was almost same to the control and other treatment showed lower yield compared with the yield of the control. The benefical effect of seed coating on field performance was minimal especially in terms of establishment and yield increase.

Effect of Endophytic Bacterium Inoculation on Seed Germination and Sprout Growth of Tartary Buckwheat

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the endophytic bacterium Herbaspirillum spp effect on seed germination and sprout growth of tartary buckwheat. Inoculant concentration (%v/v) and seed soaking time were applied 10, 20 and 40% and 0, 4, 8, 12 hour, respectively. The experiment was carried out in a growth chamber maintained temperature at 20, 25 and $30^{\circ}C$ without light for 7 days. Results showed that, 10 to 20% (v/v) inoculant concentration by 4 to 8 h seed soaking time at $20^{\circ}C$ temperature increased seed vigor rate and total seed germination rate 80-95% and 90-100%, respectively. On the other and, seed inoculation with Herbaspirillum spp. increased hypocotyl length (13-15 cm), root length (8-11 cm), total fresh weight (135-296 g) and total dry weight (7-10 g), compared to control. It is indicated that sprouts growth and yield depends on inoculation concentrations, seed soaking time and temperature. Therefore, it would be suggested that seed inoculation with Herbaspirillum spp. at concentration of 10 to 20% (v/v), soaking time 4 to 8 h and temperature $20^{\circ}C$ promote seed germinations and sprout growth rate of tartary buckwheat.

2차 Seed Grain을 사용한 ZnO 바리스터의 제조 (Fabrication of ZnO Varistor Using Secondary Seed Grains)

  • 1차와 2차 Seed grain을 제조하였다. 보다 큰 grain size를 갖는 1차 seed의 제조 조건은 2.0mol.%의 $BaCO_3$ 첨가와 10시간의 소경이었다. 가장 큰 2차 seed를 얻을 수 있는 1차 seed의 첨가량이 3wt.%로 나타나서, 전통적 방식으로 제조된 바 있는 저전압용 바리스터계에 이를 첨가하여 저전압 ZnO 바리스터를 제조하였다. 이와 같은 조건하에서 제조된 바리스터는 대개 10V/mm의 항복전압과 15~22의 비선형지수를 나타냈다.

Characteristics of F$_2$Hybrids from Crosses between Korean Cultivars and Canadian Cultivars in Buckwheat(Fagopyrum esculentum Moench.)

  • Korean cultivars of buckwheat(Fagopyrum esculentum Moench.) was crossed with Canadian cultivars in order to improve seed yield as well as leaf production of buckwheat for using as food and medicine. The agronomic characteristics and rutin contents of F$_2$ hybrids are investigated for further selection of superior lines. Dry weight per plant was the highest in a line 1110(6.71g) and leaf weight per plant was the highest in a line 1110(1.91g). Hybrid seeds were 0.55 - 0.70cm long and 0.37 - 0.47cm wide on average. 100 seeds weight ranged from 2.57g to 3.58g. Line 1076 produced the longest seeds(0.70cm) and line 1186 was the longest in seed width. Line 1196 showed the highest 100 seeds weight(3.58g). The highest frequency of the LWR(length/width rate) was 0.66~0.70, indicating that seed shape of the hybrids was mostly oval. Line 1087 showed the highest contents of rutin(77.26ppm). Lines 1090 and 1181 contained respectively rutin of 54.76ppm and 54.35ppm in the seeds. From the yield and rutin point of view, the most superior lines was line 1087 among the lines used for this study.

Local Adaptability of Buckwheat Species in Luang Prabang Region, Lao P.D.R

  • The potential cultivation of buckwheat species in Luang Prabang region, Lao PDR where the species has not been naturally grown and not traditionally utilized was studied to introduce buckwheat as a new agricultural material, especially for food and medicine. The growth of Tartary buckwheat species was higher than common buckwheat showing 2.3 fold of plant height compared to common buckwheat. Number of flower per plant in Tartary buckwheat (731) was three fold higher than common buckwheat (244). Dry weight per plant was respectively 1.7 g in Suwon No. 1, 2.6 g in Suwon No. 2, and 1.4 g in KW45. The rate average of seed setting was similar between common buckwheat (41 to 46 %) and Tartary buckwheat (44%). Total seed yield of Tartary buckwheat (184 kg/10 a) in 10a could be estimated to be higher than that of common buckwheat (108 kg/10 a).

Optimization of Oil from Moringa oleifera seed using Soxhlet Extraction method

  • Extraction of oil from Moringa oleifera seed using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was investigated. Effects of three factors namely: sample mass, particle size and extraction time on the response, Moringa oleifera a volume extracted, were determined. The Box-Behnken design of RSM was employed which resulted in 15 experimental runs. Extraction was carried out in a 250 ml Soxhlet extractor with Hexane and Ethanol as solvent. The Moringa oleifera seed powder was packed inside a muslin cloth placed in a thimble of the Soxhlet extractor. The extraction was carried out at 60℃ using thermostatic heating mantle. The solvent in the extracted oil was evaporated and the resulting oil further dried to constant weight in the oven. This study demonstrates that Moringa oleifera oil can be extracted from its seed using ethanol and acetone as extraction solvent. The optimum process variables for both solvent (ethanol and acetone) was determined at sample weight of 40 g, particle size of 325 ㎛ and extraction time of 8 hours. It can be deduced that using acetone as solvent produces a higher yield of oil at the same optimum variable conditions compared to when ethanol was used.

전과 답에서의 콩 생육특성과 수량성 (Growth Characteristics and Yield Potentials of Soybeans in Upland and Paddy Field)

  • 1. 개화성기까지의 지상부와 지하부 대부분 생육형질은 전에서 보다 답에서 더 큰값을 보였으나, 근류수는 다에서 현저히 작아 윤환답 콩재배에서는 근류접종이 필요하다고 생각되어 진다. 2. 조파 단작(4월 20일 파종)으로 윤환답에 콩을 재배하면, 만파재배시 양저바이러스(SMV-N)에 저항성을 보였던 대부분 현재의 장려품종들이 심하게 이병되었다. 그러나 경미한 모자이크바이러스(SMV) 이병정도를 보이는 일부 장려품종(장백콩과 은하콩 등)과 대부분의 도입품종들은 양저바이러스에 전연 이병이 되지 않고 대부분 높은 수량성을 보였다. 3. 콩의 토양별 평균 종실수량은 전보다 답에서 높았으나, 동일 토양내의 파종시기 또는 동일 파종기내의 토양간 평균 수종간에는 차이가 없었다. 4. Ha당 4톤 이상의 수량을 보인 품종은 답에서는 Williams79, 남해콩, Union 및 SS77053이었고, 전에서는 Union뿐이었다. 공시품종중 장엽콩과 단엽콩은 답의 모든 파종기에서 종실수량이 ha당 3톤 이상이고 변이계수가 10% 이하로 안정 다수이었다. 5. 답전윤환답의 조파에서 다수성인 품종들은 황금콩에 비하여 경장이 크고 주경전수가 많으며 분지수가 SS77053을 제외하고는 적은 일반적으로 초기발아 및 입묘에 유리한 중소입종들로 내병성, 특히 양저 바이러스에 저항성이 높은것들이었다.
