  • Due to an increasing number of cyberattacks globally, cybersecurity has become a crucial part of national security in many countries. In particular, the Digital Pearl Harbor has become a real and aggressive security threat, and is considered to be a global issue that can introduce instability to the dynamics of international security. Against this context, the cyberattacks that targeted nuclear power plants (NPPs) in the Republic of Korea triggered concerns regarding the potential effects of cyber terror on critical infrastructure protection (CIP), making it a new security threat to society. Thus, in an attempt to establish measures that strengthen CIP from a cybersecurity perspective, we perform a case study on the cyber-terror attacks that targeted the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. In order to fully appreciate the actual effects of cyber threats on critical infrastructure (CI), and to determine the challenges faced when responding to these threats, we examine factual relationships between the cyberattacks and their responses, and we perform analyses of the characteristics of the cyberattack under consideration. Moreover, we examine the significance of the event considering international norms, while applying the Tallinn Manual. Based on our analyses, we discuss implications for the cybersecurity of CI in South Korea, after which we propose a framework for strengthening cybersecurity in order to protect CI. Then, we discuss the direction of national policies.

  • Recently, various threat and security incident are occurred for unspecified individuals, and this problem increases as the rapid of information sharing through Internet. The using of Information Security System such as IDS, Firewall, VPN etc. makes this problem minimal. However, professional knowledge or skill is needed in that case, normal user can't operate the Information Security System. This paper designs and implements File Access Control Module(FACM) to use easily for normal user against malicious threats and attacks. The FACM can exclude from malicious threats and attacks based on operation system rather than detection of threats and attacks. The FACM is working not only Windows System but also Linux System, and the FACM has effect on access control, integrity and non-repudiation for a file with an access control over files on the each OS that are used by multi-user.

  • Sony has recently launched a remote play service that connects PC and PlayStation4 using the Internet. This service enables the network connection between the external network and PS4 network. After the service released, additional security threats may arise in remote environments with new services. Therefore, those threats should have been analyzed. In this paper, as applying threat modeling to remote play system, threats have been analyzed and identified. After cost-effective and usability analysis, finally, reasonable security measure of each threat has been suggested.

  • As the interest in achieving an intelligent society grows with the fourth industrial revolution's development, information and communications technologies technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things, virtual reality, information security, and blockchain technology are being actively employed in different fields for achieving an intelligent society. With these modifications, the information security paradigm in industrial and public institutions, like personal sensitive data, is quickly changing, and it is exposed to different cyber threats and breaches. Furthermore, as the number of cyber threats and breaches grows, so does the need for rapid detection and response. This demand can be satisfied by establishing cyber training programs and fostering experts that can improve cyber security abilities. In this study, we explored the domestic and international technology trends in cyber security education and training facilities for developing experts in information security. Additionally, the AI technology application in the cyber training ground, which can be established to respond to and deter cyber threats that are becoming more intelligent, was examined.

  • Mobile Cloud Service will provide cloud services through mobile devices. Because storage space constraints and computing process performance limitations of mobile devices, this service will process in the cloud environment after moving works and data that have to process in mobile terminal. The obstacles of mobile cloud service activity will have concerned high about the reliability service, data security, and the confidentiality security. In particular, in convergence of mobile services and cloud services, each threats are expected to be generated complicatedly. In this paper, we define the type of mobile cloud services as well as security threats that can occur in mobile cloud. Also we suggest security countermeasures in mobile app. and enterprises countermeasures. We suggest verification of mobile applications for user information protection about security countermeasures in mobile app. Also we describe the cloud providers responsibility and user responsibility about enterprises countermeasures.

  • As the new technologies like IoT and Fintech appear which have not existed before, security threat ranges in existing system are increasing. Especially, IoT has increasing ranges to cause malicious behaviors in specific systems because related IT infrastructure ranges are increasing. Fintech also requires the innovation of traditional security system because it has new structure which didn't exist in the past. As IoT and Fintech technologies are commercialized and related markets are developing in the future, structural security threats could be connected to actual attacks and secondary attacks by the attackers' imbedding of back door in IoT internet devices through remote access. Customer's device cannot be compulsively controlled for security in new system where these various security threats exist. Therefore, these services should minimize the collected information, and now is the time to politically control the utilizing methods of the collected information. In this thesis, security threats are to be suggested which could occur in newly appearing mobile services like IoT and Fintech.

  • In this paper we discussed various types of electronic payment schemes that are emerging. Threats vary from malicious hackers attempting to crash a system, to threats to data or transaction integrity. An understanding of the various types of threats can assist a security manager in selecting appropriate cost-effective controls to protect valuable information resources. An overview of many of today's common threats presented in this paper will be useful to mangers studying their own threat environments with a view toward developing solutions specific to their organization. To ensure security on the Internet, several methods have been developed and deployed. They include authentication of users and servers, encryption, and data integrity. Transaction security is critical : without it, information transmitted over the Internet is susceptible to fraud and other misuse. So computer systems represents an Intermediary with the potential to access the flow of information between a user. Security is needed to ensure that intermediaries cannot eavesdrop on transactions, or copy/modify data. Online firms must take additional precautions to prevent security breaches. To protect consumer information, they must maintain physical security of their servers and control access to software passwords and private keys. Techniques such as secret and public-key encryption and digital signatures play a crucial role in developing consumer confidence in electronic commerce.

  • Recently, research on solving problems that have introduced the concept of smart city in countries and companies around the world is in progress due to various urban problems. A smart city converges the city's ICT, connects all the city's components with a network, collects and delivers data, and consists of a supply chain composed of various IoT products and services. The increase in various cyber security threats and supply chain threats in smart cities is inevitable, in addition to establishing a framework such as supply chain security policy, authentication of each data provider and service according to data linkage and appropriate access control are required in a Zero-Trust point of view. To this end, a smart city security model has been developed for smart city security threats in Korea, but security requirements related to supply chain security and zero trust are insufficient. This paper examines overseas smart city security trends, presents international standard security requirements related to ISMS-P and supply chain security, as well as security requirements for applying zero trust related technologies to domestic smart city security models.

  • Cloud computing is a computing environment in which users borrow as many IT resources as they need to, and use them over the network at any point in time. This is the concept of leasing and using as many IT resources as needed to lower IT resource usage costs and increase efficiency. Recently, cloud computing is emerging to provide stable service and volume of data along with major technological developments such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and big data. However, for a more secure cloud environment, the importance of perimeter security such as shared resources and resulting secure data storage and access control is growing. This paper analyzes security threats in cloud computing environments and proposes a security architecture for effective response.
