  • In the corporate information system environment, detecting and controlling suspicious behaviors occurring at the end point of the actual business application is the most important area to secure the organization's business environment. In order to accurately detect and block threats from inside and outside, it is necessary to be able to monitor all areas of all terminals in the organization and collect relevant information. In other words, in order to maintain a secure business environment of a corporate organization from the constant challenge of malicious code, everything that occurs in a business terminal such as a PC beyond detection and defense-based client security based on known patterns, signatures, policies, and rules that have been universalized in the past. The introduction of an EDR solution to enable identification and monitoring is now an essential element of security. In this study, we will look at the essential functions required for EDR solutions, and also study the design and development plans of smart EDR systems based on active and proactive detection of security threats.

  • Cloud of things (CoTs) is a newer idea which combines cloud computing (CC) with the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT capable of comprehensively producing data, and cloud computing can be presented pathways that allow for the progression towards specific destinations. Integrating these technologies leads to the formation of a separate element referred to as the Cloud of Things (CoTs). It helps implement ideas that make businesses more efficient. This technology is useful for monitoring a device or a machine and managing or connecting them. Since there are a substantial amount of machines that can run the IoT, there is now more data available from the IoT that would have to be stored on a local basis for a provisional period, and this is impossible. CoTs is used to help manage and analyze data to additionally create usable information by permitting and applying the development of advanced technology. However, combining these elements has a few drawbacks in terms of how secure the process is. This investigation aims to recent study literature from the past 3 years that talk about how secure the technology is in terms of protecting by authentication, reliability, availability, confidentiality, and access control. Additionally, this investigation includes a discussion regarding some kinds of potential attacks when using Cloud of Things. It will also cover what the various authors recommend and conclude with as well as how the situation can be approached to prevent an attack.

  • Recently, the ground anchor method is commonly applied with nail and rock bolt to secure the stability of slopes and structures in Korea. Among them, permanent anchor which is used for long-term stability should secure bearing capacity and durability during the period of use. However, according to recent studies, phenomenon such as deformation to slope and the reduction of residual tensile load over time have been reported along the long-term behavior of the anchors. These problems of reducing residual tensile load are expected to increase in the future, which will inevitably lead to problems such as increasing maintenance costs. In this study, we identified the factors that affect the tensile load of permanent anchor from a literature study on the domestic and foreign, and investigated the prior studies that analyzed previously conducted load cell monitoring data. Afterwards, using this as basic data, the load cell measurement data collected at the actual site were analyzed to identify the tensile load reduction status of anchors, and the long-term load reduction characteristics were analyzed. Finally, by aggregating the preceding results, proposed a technique to predict the long-term load reduction characteristics of permanent anchors through short-term data to around 100 days after installation.

  • A river water level monitoring system which prevents salt water damages and effectively excludes floods has been developed to contribute efficient operation of Nakdong river estuary barrage. The system can be used for monitoring upstream conditions more quickly and do appropriate responses over changes. Telemetry and telecontrols using PLCs have been built at the three sites that directly influence on the operation of barrage gates, and are linked to Nakdong river estuary barrage's IOS (Integrated Operation System) through public communication networks. By using PLC, the system can achieve even higher reliability and versatility than before as well as easy management. By power control devices, we can remotely control the power of PLCs to treat the minor troubles instantly without going on-sites. The power control devices also save data in preparation for the cases of communication failures. The system uses ADSL (FTTH) as a main network between SCADA server and PLCs, and CDMA (M2M) as a secondary network. In order to compensate security vulnerabilities of public communication network, we have installed the VPNs for secure communication between center and the observation stations, just like a dedicated network. Generally, river water level observations have been used custom-manufactured remote terminals to suit their special goals. However, in this case, we have established a system with open architecture considering the interface between different systems, the ease of use and maintenance, security, price, etc.

  • The microseismic monitoring system with wide range of frequency has been operating in real time and it is remotely monitored at indoor and on-site for one year. This system was constructed and established in order to secure the safe and effective operation of the KAERI Underground Research Tunnel(KURT). For one year monitoring work, total 14 events were recorded in the vicinity of the KURT, and the majority of events are regarded as ultramicroseismic earthquake and artificial impacts around the tunnel. The major event is the magnitude 3.4 earthquake which was centered around Gongju city, Chungnam Province. It means that there is no significant evidence of high frequency microseismic event, which is associated with fracture initiation and/or propagation in the rock mass and shotcrete. Three components sensor was applied in order to analyze and define the direction of vibration as well as an epicenter of microseismic origin, and also properly designed and installed in a small borehole. This monitoring system is able to predict the location and timing of fracturing of rock mass and rock fall around an undreground openings as well as analysis on safety of various kinds of engineering structures such as nuclear facilities and other structures.

  • Recently, the number of pet-owning households drastically increased and many people took their pets as lifelong companion animals and look after them like their children. Pet business has continued to increase gradually and the need for pet supplies has increased, too. Though there are a variety of pet supplies in pet dog market which takes up many parts in the pet market, there is no design guideline on pet supplies. Thus, there are many wrong pet supplies design created by wrong idea of people. Therefore, this study aims to suggest the guideline on pet supplies design focusing on the pet-monitoring system among the various pet products. So, the pet-monitoring robot was designed to monitor pet simply using smartphone anywhere on the trip and feed by using bowl that control the signal. This study figured out types and function of existing IP camera, reflected the behavior and physical characteristics of pets and suggested the design guideline which is minimum required as pet-monitoring products. Also, trial product for which design guide was applied was produced to observe the pet behavior and identify problems while operating trial product. However, there was limit in securing data and study period to examine the satisfaction of various pets since the subject of this study was dog and it's required to conduct follow-up study by observing continuously and improving the problems in future to secure more data.

  • South Korea has been undergoing spring drought periodically and diverse researches using vegetation index have been carried out to monitor spring droughts. The strength of the vegetation index-based drought monitoring is that the monitoring method enables efficient spatio-temporal grasp of changes in drought events. According to the development of low resolution satellite images such as MODIS, which are characterized by outstanding temporal resolution, the use of the method is expected to increase. Drought analysis using vegetation index considered only meteorological factor as a cause that affects vitality of vegetation. But many indirect and direct factors affect vegetation stress, So many uncertainties are involved in such method of analysis. To secure objectivity of drought analysis that uses vegetation index it is therefore necessary to compare the method with most representative drought analysis tools that are used for drought management. In this study, PDSI and SPI which a meteorological drought index that quantifies drought and that is used as a basic index for drought monitoring and MODIS NDVI are compared to propose correlation among them and to show usefulness of drought assessment that uses vegetation index. This study shows changing patterns of NDVI and SPI 6-month are similar and correlation between NDVI and SPI was highest in inland vegetation cover.

  • The displacement monitoring of unstable block at the rock slope located in the Cheonbuldong valley of Seoraksan National Park was carried out using Terrestrial LiDAR. The rock slopes around Guimyeonam and Oryeon waterfall where rockfall has occurred or is expected to occur are selected as the monitoring section. The displacement monitoring of unstable block at the rock slope in the selected area was performed 5 times for about 7 months using Terrestrial LiDAR. As a result of analyzing the displacement based on the Terrestrial LiDAR scanning, the error of displacement was highly influenced by the interpolation of the obstruction section and the difference of plants growth. To minimize the external influences causing the error, the displacement of unstable block should be detected at the real scanning point. As the result of analyzing the displacement of unstable rock at the rock slope using the Terrestrial LiDAR data, the amount of displacement was very small. Because the amount of displacement was less than the range of error, it was difficult to judge the actual displacement occurred. Meanwhile, it is important to select a section without vegetation to monitor the precise displacement of unstable rock at the rock slope using Terrestrial LiDAR. Also, the PointCloud removal and the mesh model analysis in a vegetation section were the most important work to secure reliability of data.

  • The Marine Environment QA/QC management system has been operated since 2010 to secure the reliability of data and improve the analysis capabilities of measurement and analysis institutions. From 2010 to 2020, the cumulative number of measurement and analysis institutions participated in the QA/QC management system was 266. And the number of certificates issued by the ministry of oceans and fisheries is 182. A total of 32 reference materials for proficiency testing and interlaboratory comparisons have been developed. They were first developed focusing on items (Nutrients, COD) commonly analyzed in marine environmental measuring network, marine pollution impact surveys, sea area utilization impact assessment, deepsea water surveys, and information network on fishing ground environments. In addition, it is time to expand the filed of the QA/QC management system, such as seawater temperature, salinity, PCBs and PAHs in sediments, which are mainly analyzed in most monitoring programs. On-site assessment has been conducted for 162 laboratories according to ISO/IEC 17025 to evaluate their conformity of the quality management system and deficiency. In terms of management and technology requirements, about 4.2% of organizations showed insufficient division of duties among employees 8.7% of them revealed the lack of employee training. By test item, about 6.3% of organizations showed the lack of standard substance management and the state of the cleaning glassware was pointed out in about 5.4% of them. The QA/QC management system should be continuously supplemented by identifying the causes of nonconformities and area for improvement.
