  • As the existing contactless power transfer system(CPTS) is adopting the principle of contactless transformer enables to supply power in contactless way using RFID(radio frequency identification)/ID communication method between primary and secondary sides of contactless transformer and detect the alien load. Such CPTS requires the circuit that generates ID in addition, and the ID identification and control generated from the secondary side is performed at the primary side, which cuases complexity of the circuit. Therefore, this study suggested the CPTS using voltage phase, and In order to verify the validity of this study, 3[W] class CPTS shall be designed, and the simulation and test of CPTS using current and voltage phases shall be carried out.

  • Active Noise control(ANC) is rapidly becoming the most effective way to reduce noises that can otherwise be very difficult and expensive to control. This research presents ANFIS (Adaptive Network Fuzzy Inference System) controller for adaptively noise cancelling in a duct. ANC system generates secondary control sound pressure with same amplitude and with opposite phase as noise to be eliminated. ANFIS controller is trained to optimize its parameters for adaptively cancelling noise. That is ANFIS train its parameters by gradient descent and LSE method so called hybrid method. This paper present ANFIS in active noise control which provides an improvement convergence speed and limitation of linearity condition. It can model nonlinear functions of arbitrary complexity and ANFIS can construct an input-ouput mapping based on both human knowledge in the form of Takagi and Sugeno's fuzzy if-then rules and stipulated input-output data pairs. This paper also shows that the proposed ANFIS active noise control system successfully cancelled noise.

  • Shortage of electric power occurs frequently along with increased electric power demand. ESS is a precaution to solve this issue. Household ESS has a capacity of approximately 3 kW/7 kWh. Household ESS batteries are typically designed with nominal voltages between 40 and 50 V. To connect household ESS with a 220 V AC system, low battery voltages in power conditioning system (PCS) should be boosted. To boost low battery voltage and match it with AC grid voltage, the use of a transformer for a commercial frequency can be considered. To attenuate switching harmonics of the household single-phase ESS-PCS, LC filter can be installed in two positions: on the primary side or on the secondary side of a transformer. A method has been used generally in single-phase inverters for the ESS-PCS. In another method, however, the output efficiency of the ESS-PCS may be decreased. Parasitic components of the transformer can affect voltage losses, when the square wave with the switching frequency in the ESS-PCS is passed through the transformer windings. In this work, the characteristics of the transformer according to the position of an LC filter are investigated for household single-phase ESS-PCS.

  • In this paper, electromagnetic fields of a linear induction motor with cage-type secondary are analyzed by the finite element method. Contact resistances between end-bars and secondary conductors are considered in the finite element analysis. The field quantify is a magnetic vector potential transformed into a phasor form. As a result, the sensitivities of a phase current thrust and normal force are presented according to the variation of the contact resistance.

  • Cognitive radio (CR) has emerged as one of effective methods to enhance the utilization of existing radio spectrum. Main principle of CR is that secondary users (SUs) are allowed to use the spectrum unused by primary users (PUs) without interfering PU's transmissions. In this paper, PUs operate on a slot-by-slot basis and SUs try to exploit the slots unused by PUs. We propose OSA protocols in the single channel and we propose an opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) protocols in the multi-channel cognitive radio networks with one control channel and several licensed channels where a slot is divided into contention phase and transmission phase. A slot is divided into reporting phase, contention phase and transmission phase. The reporting phase plays a role of finding idle channels unused by PUs and the contention phase plays a role of selecting a SU who will send packets in the data transmission phase. One SU is selected by carrier sense multiple access / collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) with request to send / clear to send (RTS/CTS) mechanism on control channel and the SU is allowed to occupy all remaining part of all idle channels during the current slot. For mathematical analysis, first we deal with the single-channel case and we model the proposed OSA media access control (MAC) protocol by three-dimensional discrete time Markov chain (DTMC) whose one-step transition probability matrix has a special structure so as to apply the censored Markov chain method to obtain the steady state distribution. We obtain the throughput and the distribution of access delay. Next we deal with the multi-channel case and obtain the throughput and the distribution of access delay by using results of single-channel case. In numerical results, our mathematical analysis is verified by simulations and we give numerical results on throughput and access delay of the proposed MAC protocol. Finally, we find the maximum allowable number of SUs satisfying the requirements on throughput and access delay.

  • The main objectives of this study were to investigate the concept of family function from the perspective of the contemporary Korean family, and to construct model of change of family function with chronic illness. The hybrid model approach was applied in which three phases(theoretical phase, empirical phase, and analytic phase) of concept development were explored for family functioning. The study was conducted from 1997 to 1998. In empirical phase, two groups of purposive samples were drawn : normal family group composed of six families without ill family member, and ill family group composed of seven families of which wives have rheumatoid arthritis. Only families with child(or children) in primary or secondary schools were included in the study. The results were as follows : In theoretical phase, six dimensions of family concept were emerged : affective, structural, control, cognitive, financial, and reproductive dimension. In order to analyse the Korean normal family function in middle class with middle-aged women, financial and reproductive dimension were not included. In empirical phase, five dimensions(affective, structural, control, cognitive, and external relationship) were found from the normal family data. External relationship dimension is very important factor as a resource of the support, especially when their parents or siblings had no help or support to them. In the affective dimension, Korean family emphasized harmony and balance rather than affective expression between couples and between parents and children. They also showed common goals of the families to solve their problems to control the family members. The priority of the goals was getting into the higher education of their children or helping their unhealthy parents or family members. Six dimensions (affective, structural, control, cognitive, external relationship, and financial) of family functions were emerged from the ill family data. From the analysis of ill family data, types of restructuring house chore after wives illness were developed : (a) negociated, (b) accomodated, and (c) isolated, enduring types. Although the dimensions of family functioning identified in this study are similar to the conceptualizations that exist in the western literature, there were distinct differences in the nature of major themes and subconcepts under these family function dimensions.

  • Objectives: To develop and investigate the effectiveness of an integrative counseling intervention for enhancing social intelligence and reducing bullying behaviors among lower secondary school students in Bangkok, Thailand. Methods: An interventional mixed-method design was employed in 2 phases. Phase 1 involved the development of a qualitative method-based integrative counseling program from key informants using the eclecticism technique. In phase 2, a randomized controlled trial with a wait-list control was conducted and qualitative research was performed with students who demonstrated bullying behaviors. Demographic data, Social Intelligence Scale (SIS) scores, and Bullying-Behavior Scale (BBS) scores were collected at baseline. Changes in SIS scores and qualitative findings obtained from in-depth interviews were examined after counseling ended, and BBS scores were collected again 1 month later. Results: The developed social intelligence counseling program included eight 1-hour weekly sessions consisting of 3 components: (1) social awareness, (2) social information processing, and (3) social skills. After receiving this intervention, scores for the SIS overall (p<0.001) and all of its components (p<0.05) were significantly enhanced in the experimental group compared to the control group. Moreover, the mean BBS scores in the experimental group significantly decreased 1 month after counseling (p=0.001). With regard to the qualitative research results, the experimental students demonstrated improvements in all components of social intelligence. Conclusions: The results indicated that a preventive counseling program may enhance social intelligence, decrease bullying behaviors among lower secondary school students, and prevent further incidents of school violence. However, further studies in various population subgroups should also be performed.

  • For conventional interleaved two-phase forward converters with a common output inductor, the maximum duty cycle is 0.5, which limits the voltage range and increases the difficulty of the transformer's optimization. A new two-phase hybrid forward converter with series-parallel auto-regulated transformer windings is presented in this paper. With interleaved control signals for the two phases, the secondary windings of the transformers can work in series when the duty cycle is larger than 0.5, and they can work in parallel when duty cycle is lower than 0.5. Therefore, the maximum duty cycle is extended and the turns ratio of the transformer can be optimized. Duty cycle dependent auto-regulated windings result in the steady states of the converter being different in different duty cycle ranges (D>0.5 and D<0.5). Fortunately, the steady state gains of the proposed hybrid converter are identical at different duty cycle ranges, which means a stepless shift between two states. A prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis. A conventional control loop is compatible for the whole input voltage range and load range thanks to the stepless shifting between the different duty cycle ranges.
