고속충돌노즐을 이용한 분류층 가스화기내의 유동특성에 관한 연구 (Study on flow characteristics in entrained flow gasifier with high speed impinging jet)

  • An entrained flow gasifier simulating the cold mode was tested to estimate its performance for coal gasification and flow characteristics with a developed high speed impinging jet nozzle. The burner was designed for high temperature and high pressure(HTHP) conditions, especially for IGCC(Integrated Coal Gasification Combined Cycle). In order to get proper size of droplets for high viscous liquid such as coal slurry, atomization was achieved by impacting slurry with high speed (over 150m/sec) secondary gas (oxygen/or air)/ Formed water droplets were ranged between 100.mu.m to 20.mu.m in their sizes. The flow characteristics in the gasifier was well understood in mixing between fuel and oxidizer. Both external and internal recirculation zones were closely investigated through experimentation with visualization and numerical solutions from FLUENT CODE.

  • IMO NOx levels are generally possible to meet by means of primary on-engine measures. Nevertheless further significant follow-on reductions are likely to require a secondary after-treatment technique. SCR system is currently the only available technology proven at full scale to meet the 90% NOx reduction levels. Accordingly, maybe the use of an SCR system on board ship provides the solution to minimize this primary pollutant without increasing fuel consumption. In order to develop a practical SCR system for marine application on board ship, a primary SCR system using urea was made. The SCR system was set up on the ship. employed a two-stroke diesel engine as a main propulsion. which is a training ship in KMU (Korea Maritime Univ.). The purpose of this paper is to report the results about the basic effects of the above system parameters which is investigated from practical application through its trial use. The degree of NOx removal depends on some parameters. such as the amount of urea solution added, space velocity. reaction gas temperature and activity of catalyst. The preliminary results from trial run are presented.

수용모델(CMB)을 이용한 한반도에서 관측된 황사의 발원지 추정과 기여도에 대한 연구 (Source Apportionment and the Origin of Asian Dust Observed in Korea by Receptor Modelling (CMB))

  • Ambient TSP at four sites in Korea and soil samples from the source regions of Asian Dust in northern China were collected and analyzed for 15 metal components and 6 water-soluble ions to conduct a chemical mass balance (CMB). CMB receptor model was used to estimate the source contribution of TSP during the Asian Dust period, and the model results showed that China soil was the largest source contributor, accounting for 81% of TSP ($458.2{\mu}g/m^3$). Vehicle emission and geological sources contributed to about 8.8% and 4.4% of aerosol mass, followed by sea salt (1.5%) and secondary aerosol (2.9%). Fuel combustion and industrial process sources were found to be relatively minor contributors to TSP (${\leq}1%$). In addition to source contribution estimates, this study tried to identify the origin of Asian Dust observed in Korea. Among all 13 China soil profiles presented in this study, the most adoptable profile which can project the case well was selected and considered as the origin of the applied case.

  • 본 논문에서는 선박의 더 효율적이고 안전한 운항과 인력 및 에너지 절감을 위하여 PC를 기반으로 한 SPS (Secondary Planning System)를 개발하였으며, SPS를 중심으로 구성한 항해 자동화 시스템을 제안하였다. 개발된 SPS는 항해 선박의 각종 항해통신장비의 이상유무를 모니터링 하는 기능을 수행하며, 운항정보시스템(GIS), 전자해도시스템(ECDIS), 또는 Radar/ARPA장비에 이상 상태가 발생되었을 때 해당장비의 주요핵심 정보와 기능을 자동으로 대체함으로 해상사고의 방지와 선박의 항해 시스템의 효율성과 안정성을 높일 수 있다. 또한 SPS는 항해통신장비의 보조장비 기능인 DB Server 기능과 Network Server기능도 가진다.

  • For the past years, higher power rating 2 stroke super long stroke diesel engines having more than 8 cylinders and larger cylinder bore are installed mainly on very large containerships to save on fuel consumption. However, these engines are prone to X-mode vibration due to $2^{nd}$ node torsional vibration or the X-type moment, particularly because of the increase in total length and height. Recently, cases of excessive X-mode vibration often occurred on engine's major components. This vibration is manifested also as secondary vibration causing failure in engine-mount large structures. This study investigated the excitations caused by the $2^{nd}$ node propulsion shafting torsional vibration that influence X-mode vibration of the main engine and practical countermeasures are proposed. An 8RT-82RT-flex 8 cylinder engine and 11S90S-ME 11 cylinder engine for a container ship was used as research model.

Interaction of Rare Earth Chloride Salts to Alumina and Mullite in LiCl-KCl at 773 K

  • Two commonly used ceramics in molten salt research are alumina and mullite. The two ceramics were exposed to a combination of rare earth chlorides (YCl3, SmCl3, NdCl3, PrCl3, and CeCl3; each rare earth chloride of 1.8 weight percent) in LiCl-KCl at 773 K for approximately 13 days. Scanning electron microscopy with wave dispersion spectra was utilized to investigate a formation layer or deposition of rare earths onto the ceramic. Only the major constituents of the ceramics (Al, Si, and O2) were observed during the wave dispersion spectra. X-ray fluorescence was used as well to determine concentration changes in the molten salt as a function of ceramic exposure time. This study shows no evidence of ionic exchange or layer formation between the ceramics and molten chloride salt mixture. There are signs of surface tension effects of molten salt moving out of the tantalum crucible into secondary containment.

  • Noises from diesel engine are the major issues for noise pollution as well as affect customers' purchasing needs to vehicles powered by diesel engine. This study investigates to screen-out main factors that contribute to noises from diesel engine using VGT 2000cc engine developed recently. Changes of fuel temperature, intake temperature and the presence of three way catalyst don't affect the 'Engine Radiation Noise' and the solely three way catalyst influence on the 'Tail Pipe Noise'. Especially, there are no effects of the presence of three way catalyst on torque, which is main subject that should be considered in secondary study.

  • With the increasing demand for renewable energy, distributed power included in fuel cells have been studied and developed as a future energy source. For this system, a power conversion circuit is necessary to interface the generated power to the utility. In many cases, a high step-up dc/dc converter is needed to boost low input voltage to high voltage output. Conventional methods using cascade dc/dc converters cause extra complexity and higher cost. The conventional topologies to get high output voltage use flyback dc/dc converters. They have the leakage components that cause stress and loss of energy that results in low efficiency. This paper presents a high boost converter with a voltage multiplier and a coupled inductor. The secondary voltage of the coupled inductor is rectified using a voltage multiplier and series-connected with the boost voltage of primary voltage of the coupled inductor. Therefore, high boost voltage is obtained with low duty cycle. Theoretical analysis and experimental results verify the proposed solutions using a 300W prototype.

Preparation and Characterization of Proton Conducting Composite Membranes From P(VDF-CTFE)-g-PSPMA Graft Copolymer and Heteropolyacid

  • Proton conducting composite membranes were prepared by solution blending of poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene)-graft-poly(sulfopropyl methacrylate) (P(VDF-CTFE)-g-PSPMA) graft copolymer and heteropolyacid (HPA). The P(VDF-CTFE)-g-PSPMA graft copolymer was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using direct initiation of the secondary chlorines of P(VDF-CTFE). FT-IR spectroscopy revealed that HPA nanoparticles were incorporated into the graft copolymer via hydrogen bonding interactions. The water uptake of membranes continuously decreased with increasing HP A concentration up to 45wt%, after which it slightly increased. It is presumably due to the decrease in number of water absorption sites due to hydrogen bonding interaction between the HP A particles and the polymer matrix. The proton conductivity of membranes increased with increasing HPA concentration up to 45wt%, resulting from both the intrinsic conductivity of HP A particles and the enhanced acidity of the sulfonic acid of the graft copolymer.

박막 테이프캐스팅과 동시소성에 의한 연료극 지지형 SOFC 단전지 제조 (Fabrication of Anode-Supported SOFC Single Cells via Tape-Casting of Thin Tapes and Co-Firing)

  • An anode-supported SOFC single cell having $5{\mu}m$ thin electrolyte was fabricated cost-effectively by tape casting, laminating, and co-filing of anode (NiO-YSZ), cathode (LSM-YSZ), and electrolyte (YSZ) components. The optimal slurry compositions of the green tapes for SOFC components were determined by an analysis of the mean diameter, the slurry viscosity, the tensile strength/strain of the green tapes, and their green microstructures. The single cells with a dense electrolyte and porous electrodes could be co-fired successfully at $1325\sim1350^{\circ}C$ by controlling the contents of pore former and the ratio of coarse YSZ and fine YSZ in the anode and the cathode. The single cell co-fired at $1350^{\circ}C$ showed $100.2mWcm^{-2}$ of maximum power density at $800^{\circ}C$ but it was impossible to apply it to operate at low temperature because of low performance and high ASR, which were attributed to formation of the secondary phases in the cathode and the interface between the electrolyte and the cathode.
