Which Motivations Influence Consumer Behavior? : Focusing on Second-hand Distribution Platforms

  • Purpose: The no-contact and economic downturn caused by COVID-19 have further grown the used market. The second-hand trading industry has established itself as a popular consumption culture, leading to exponential growth in the size of the market. This study aims to identify the types of shopping motivation for used products targeting Korean consumers, and to examine the relationship between shopping motivations for second-hand transactions, consumption values, and re-use intentions. Research design, data and methodology: The first study was conducted on 63 used trading platform users and the second study was conducted on 441 used trading platform users to identify the types of consumers' motivation for shopping for used products. Results: As a result of the first study, the shopping motivation types of Korean used product consumers were classified into convenience motivation, economic motivation, hedonistic motivation, information Acquisition motivation, and free time utilization motivation. As a result of the second study, it was found that convenience motivation had the greatest influence on functional values and hedonic motivation had the greatest influence on emotional values, and that functional values had a great influence on platform reuse intentions. Conclusions: This study provides practical implications for the establishment of marketing strategies for used trading platforms and academic implications for research related to used trading.

중고 명품 거래 플랫폼의 속성이 지각된 유용성, 유희성 및 지속사용의도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of the Attributes of Second-Hand Luxury Goods Trading Platforms on Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Enjoyment, and Continuance Intention to Use)

  • This study examined the effects of platforms' attributes(economy, convenience, ease of use, and security) on perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, trust, and the continuance intention to use. Data were collected through a survey conducted with 327 users of second-hand luxury goods trading platforms in their twenties and thirties; 300 were used for statistical analysis using SPSS26.0 for exploratory factor analysis and correlation analysis, and AMOS 26.0 for confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. For the attributes of second-hand luxury goods trading platforms, four factors were extracted: economy, convenience, ease of use and security. The results showed that only the security of second-hand luxury goods platforms had a positive effect on the perceived usefulness of the platform, but other attributes did not influence perceived usefulness. In contrast, all attributes of the platform showed positive effects on perceived enjoyment. Perceived enjoyment had a strong effect on trust; however, perceived usefulness did not affect trust. The continuance intention to use the platforms was most influenced by perceived usefulness, trust, and perceived enjoyment, in that order. The current findings can help marketers of second-hand luxury goods platforms optimize the platforms' attributes based on the marketing objectives and develop strategies to build perceived usefulness and enjoyment first, and in turn, trust and intention to use.

핸드 워크 감각(感覺)의 패션 디자인 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Fashion Design imaged by Hand Work)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the fashion images and the aesthetic characteristics of hand work imaged design. The 'hand work' has not only affected the contemporary life style but also the current fashion trend. The primary source of data has been a collection of recent books, news repots, and many articles from various kinds of mass media and fashion magazines since the year 2000. The results of this study can be summarized as follow. First, hand work imaged fashion design can be divided the background into three parts : post-materialism, aesthetics of slowness, personalize trend. Second, hand work imaged fashion design can be identified with the following images : folklore & craft image, second hand image, high touch image. Third, the aesthetic characteristics of hand work image reflects the concepts of sustainability and process communication.

파나막스 중고선가치 추정모델 연구 (Panamax Second-hand Vessel Valuation Model)

  • 중고선은 신조선과 달리 시장참여자에게 즉각적인 시장 진출입 기회를 제공하기 때문에 해운산업에서 중요한 시장이라 할 수 있다. 중고선 거래 시 정확한 선가 추정은 향후 장기적인 자본비용의 부담과 직접적인 관련이 있기 때문에 투자의사결정에서 상당히 중요한 요소가 된다. 기존의 중고선시장과 관련된 연구들은 시장의 효율성검증에 치우쳐 있어 정확한 중고선가 추정을 위한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 중고선박 가치추정에 전통적인 계량모델보다 기존연구에서 시도되지 않았던 인공신경망모델을 새롭게 제안하였다. 문헌연구를 통해 중고선 가격에 영향을 미치는 6개 요인(운임, 신조선가격, 총 선복대비 발주량, 해체선 가격, 선령, 사이즈)을 선정하였고, 데이터는 2016년 1월부터 2018년 12월까지 Clarkson에 보고된 파나막스 중고선의 실거래 기록 366건을 이용하였다. 변수선정을 위하여 상관분석과 단계적 회귀분석 실시한 결과 최종적으로 운임, 선령, 사이즈 3개의 변수가 채택되었다. 모델의 설계는 10분할 교차검증으로 인공신경망모델의 파라미터들을 추정하여 진행되었다. 인공신경망 모델의 중고선 가치추정치를 단순 단계적 회귀모형과 비교한 결과 인공신경망모델의 성능이 우수함을 확인하였다. 이 연구는 중고선 선가추정에 미치는 요인들에 대한 통계적인 검증, 성능개선을 위한 기계학습기반의 인공신경망 모델활용이라는 측면에서 차별적 의미가 있다. 또한 정확한 선가 추정이 요구되는 실무에서 통계적인 합리성과 결과의 정확성이 동시에 만족되는 과학적 모델을 제시하여 실무적으로도 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

Role of Fashion Leadership Influencing the Effect of the Environmental Benefits of Second-hand Clothing on Continuance Usage Intention

  • Growth in the second-hand clothing (SHC) market has become noteworthy, especially for millennial consumers in Korea. This study identifies the moderating role of fashion leadership influencing the relationship between the perceived environmental benefits of SHC and continuance usage intention for millennial consumers. The hypotheses were statistically tested using online survey data, and the respondents were Korean female millennials aged between 25 and 39 years who had online shopping experiences of SHC within 3 months. Furthermore, 263 responses were analyzed by confirmatory factor, hierarchical regression, and conditional process analyses using SPSS, AMOS, and PROCESS v3.3. Results validated that the perceived environmental benefits of SHC and fashion leadership have positive effects on continuance usage intention of purchased second-hand items. Fashion leadership also moderates the relationship between the environmental benefits of SHC and continuance usage intention, showing that as the level of fashion leadership increases, the environmental benefits have more positive effects on continuance usage intention. Theoretical and practical implications were also discussed. This study will help bridge theoretical and practical gaps between purchasing and using SHC by focusing on the interaction effect of fashion leadership and its perceived environmental benefits.

청소년의 금지 약물 사용에 따른 관련 요인 분석 (Analysis of Related Factors According to Using Illicit Substances Among Adolescents)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze related factors in relation to usage of illicit substances for Korean adolescents. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, which used data from the Twelfth Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBWS). A total of 65,528 students in 2016 were included in this study. Chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were used for analyzing related factors using illicit substances. Results: Overall, 553 (0.8%) students responded as having ever used illicit substances during their lifetime and 133 (0.2%) students responded as current illicit substance users. It was found that electronic cigarette (EC) use, conventional cigarette smoking, second hand smoking, sad/despair mood, and economic status were significantly associated factors with usage of illicit substances. Comparing 'current EC users' with 'never EC users', the adjusted odds ratios (OR) was 7.76 (95% confidence interval (CI): 5.56-10.82) for life-time use of illicit substances, and 18.74 (95% CI: 8.01-43.87) for current use of illicit substances among adolescents. Additionally, comparing 'students who ever were exposed to second hand smoking during the past week', with 'students who never were exposed to second hand smoking', the adjusted OR was 2.60 (95% CI: 2.13-3.17) for life-time use of illicit substances, and 2.85 (95% CI: 1.68-4.83) for current use of illicit substances among adolescents. Conclusions: Based on the results, electronic cigarette use, second hand smoking, conventional cigarette smoking, sad/despair mood, and economic status were significantly associated with increased odds of substance experience and current substance use. Therefore, the results of this study can provide a useful evidence about adolescent behaviors in predicting substance use.

흡연자와 비흡연자의 권리보호를 위한 공동주택 내의 흡연 공간 계획에 관한 연구 - 동 평면의 샤프트 공간을 활용하여 - (A Study on the Planning of Smoking Space in Apartment for the Rights of Smokers and Nonsmokers - Using the shaft space of the unit plan -)

  • Through various media, damage of both smoking and second-hand smoking has been recognized, and brought global scale of interest in antismoking. In Korea, government has tightened regulations of smoking in non-smoking zone since December, 1980, and after National Health Promotion Act in 1995, non-smoking zone has been gradually expanded. On the other hand, there were law suits to find those regulation towards smokers are either unconstitutional or not for 4 times. In this current state, people need smoking area to prevent second-hand smoking and to consider smokers in multi-unit dwelling. Main purpose of this research is to plan smoking spaces based on various typology of multi-dwelling plan for protection of both smokers and non-smokers' right. The research group collected and analyzed the smoking behaviors in various multi-unit dwelling types such as flat type, tower type, hybrid type and others. Based on those data, the group found three phenomena. First, there are internal regulations in multi-unit dwelling to make non-smoking zone based on National Health Promotion Act and resident representative meeting decision. Second, main smoking activities are occurring at major traffic line and entrances. Third, smoking inside of multi-unit dwelling complex causes second-hand smoking to residents live in $1^{st}$ floor and when they enter. Therefore, one can achieve both smokers' and non-smokers' protection of right by creating a designated smoking space near main entrances of multi-unit dwelling complex to consider smokers' and prevents second-hand smoking by using shaft space, which is in core space, to ventilate tobacco smoke through roof.

건강의식과 환경의식이 환경친화적 의류 구매 및 처분행동에 미치는 영향 (Impacts of health and environment consciousness on pro-environmental clothing purchasing and disposal behaviors)

  • The purposes of this study were to categorize of pro-environmental clothing purchasing and disposal behaviors and to identify impacts of health and environment consciousness on pro-environmental clothing purchase and disposal behaviors. The subjects were homemakers (n=381), and they were segmented into LOHAS group, environment conscious group, unconscious group, and wellbeing group according to their health and environment consciousness. Older homemakers were included in LOHAS group and environment conscious group. And these homemakers performed pro-environmental clothing purchasing and disposal behaviors better than wellbeing group or unconscious group. Health consciousness was positively related with the second-hand clothing purchasing and recycling. Environment consciousness was positively related with clothing made with organic, natural or functional materials, or the second-hand clothing purchasing, and recycling of the second-hand clothing. There was a need to develop continuing education programs to strengthen homemakers' health and environment consciousness, or to upgrade their pro-environmental clothing purchase and disposal behaviors.

지능형 로봇손을 위한 손가락 힘센서 개발 (Development of Force Sensors for the Fingers of an Intelligent Robot's Hand)

  • This paper describes a design and manufacture of a two-axis force sensor and a single-axis force sensor for the fingers of an intelligent robot's hand. The robot's finger is composed of a two-axis force sensor, a first knuckle, a single-axis force sensor, a second knuckle, a spring, a motor of first knuckle, a motor of second knuckle, and so on. The two-axis force sensor attached to the first knuckle and the single-axis force sensor attached to the second knuckle were designed and manufactured, and the characteristics test of two sensors was carried out. As a test results, the interference error of the two-axis force sensor was less than 0.68%, the repeatability error of each sensor was less than 0.02%, and then the non-linearity was less than 0.03%. It is thought that the sensors can be used for the fingers of the intelligent robot's hand for rehabilitation exercise of finger patients.

녹색가게 이용자의 환경의식에 따른 녹색가게 이용 실태와 의복 태도에 관한 연구 (Attitudes Inward Clothing and Green Store Usage, Followed by Green Store User's Consciousness of the Environment)

  • This study discusses the environmental awareness and the second-hand clothing usage of those consumers who actively purchase used clothing through a clothing swap at a used clothing market. The study used the questionnaire method, weか the subjects being those with experience of buying second-hand clothing. The findings were as follows. 1. The group of higher environmental awareness differed from the group with low environmental awareness in terms of donating or swapping clothing at a green store or in terms of discontinuing the wearing of used clothing bought from a green store. 2. The higher environmental awareness group valued fashion, status symbols and the alignment with others while the group with low environmental awareness valued comfort and economy more than those with the higher environmental awareness. 3. It was discovered that environmental awareness, education and income levels were interrelated.
