This study investigates critical fashion and discusses its critical messages, as it challenges the existing system of the fashion industry. This study reviews the literature on critical art and critical design and analyzes exhibition catalogs, magazines, and websites related to critical fashion practices. Thereupon, this study assumes the two distinctive messages of critical fashion design: materiality and experience, and the redefinition of the ideal body. First, materiality and experience pursues a change in perceptions of clothing materials by way of deconstructing clothes and exposing the process of production. This type of critical fashion breaks away from the traditional sartorial conventions and articulates new structures and experiences through dematerialization. Second, the redefinition of the ideal human body attempts to subvert the stereotypes of ideal beauty and introduce a variety of beauty in the human body. This type of critical design reconstructs the human body through transformation, expansion, and deconstruction and is often liberated from the dichotomy of gender norms.
The purposes of this study were to classify somatotype was obtained from the factor scores of the upper half of body and analyze the somatometric characteristics. The sample group was drawn from boys at the ages 9 to 10 living in Pusan and Kyungsangnam-do. Data from each boy comprised 36 anthropometric measurements and 7 photographic measurements. The study reached following conclusions. 1. According to the analysis to draw somatometric factors, seven indicative factors were obtained from measurements of the upper half of body. The most significant factor "sectional size" and the second most significant factor "longitudinal size" characterized most aspects of body shape. 2. According to the analysis of somatometric characteristics by the upper half of body, they were categorized into four types; Boys in type 1 had high stature, broadest shoulders, average frame, flattest chest and quite protruded shoulder blades and belly; boys in type 2 had shortest stature, smallest frame, most sloping shoulders and flattest shoulder blades and belly; boys in type 3 had quite corpulent with average stature, rising shoulders, most protruded chest and shoulder blades and belly of protrusion close to the average; boys in type 4 had highest stature, biggest frame, broad shoulders and back, and most protruded shoulder blades and belly.

Interest in the regulation of body weight and the pathological physiology of obesity has been rekindled by the cloning of the obese(ob) gene and identification of its product, leptin, in 1994. The first publication appeared in Nature and is a milestone of obesity research. The remarkable metabolic effects of leptin in rodents are: a) inhibition of food intake, b) stimulation of energy expenditure, and c) reversal of obesity. These effects, though mostly desirable, have not been fully demonstrated in humans. The central action of leptin in the regulation of body weight includes two pathways in rodents: a) When the body weight increasing, more leptin is secreted from adipose tissue, which acts on hypothalamus, probably through a POMC or MSH pathway via M4 receptor, initiates a series of response to obesity, i.e. sympathetic tone increased, energy expenditure enhanced and food intake reduced. b) When body weight reduced, leptin concentration decreased with the shrinkage of fat mass, which may also act on the hypothalamus, probably through a NPY-Y5 receptor pathway. Then a cascade of response to hungry was induced, i.e. increase of parasympathetic tone and food intake, decrease of energy expenditure and body temperature, as well as shut-down of the reproductive function.

This paper describes a weight-reduction design method for the car bodies of a double deck high-speed train (service speed of 300 km/h). The method uses lightweight materials and a topology optimization technique. In this study, aluminum extrusions and sandwich composites were selected as the best materials to reduce the weight of the car body. The topology optimization technique was used to determine which car body parts could be made of the sandwich composites to achieve additional weight savings. The results of the topology optimization analysis showed that sandwich composites could be used for secondary car body members such as the roof and the second underframe. Also, it was found that a car body composed of aluminum extruded parts and sandwich composites could weigh up to 14% less than a car body made of only aluminum extrusions.

The purpose of this study was to develop customized necktie design according to Korean adult male's body characteristics. For this purpose, experimentations of visual sensory evaluation on visual stimuli which show a man's wearing various neckties were carried out. The subjects were students(n=130) majoring in fashion and design related area and experts(n=6). The data were analyzed by ANOVA, duncan test, pearson's correlation coefficient, cross tabulation using spss pc/sup +/ program. Also statistic of Korea adult men's body measurements(1997) were analyzed and used to decide appropriate necktie length according to the customer's various height. The results were as follows: First, there were significant difference in visual sensibility on the stimuli showing 1) relative location of belt and necktie, 2) neckties with various length using golden ratio to the experimental model's height. Therefore, the need of producing neckties with different length according to customer's various height were verified. Second, neckties with three different length(140cm, 145cm, 151cm) were suggested for the groups of 160cm-height, 170cm-height, 180cm-height according to Korean adult male's body characteristics and aspect of production.
Effects of various preservation periods and subcultures on fruiting body formation of Cordyceps militaris were investigated using EFCC C-10995 single ascospore strains. Fruiting body formation by original strains was profuse when preserved at $4^{\circ}C$ for $5{\sim}6$ months. Fruiting from subcultures was stable till second to sixth subcultures, after which it decreased sharply. The more the colony color of subcultures changed, the less the fruiting bodies formed. Liquid inoculum preparation of single ascospore strains in the same or separate broths did not affect fruiting body formation. Similarly, two strains C-10995-3 and C-10995-6 in different numbers during liquid inoculum preparation produced similar fruiting bodies.
Background: Stochastic resonance whole-body vibration training (SR-WBV) was tested to reduce work-related musculoskeletal complaints. Methods: Participants were 54 white-collar employees of a Swiss organization. The controlled crossover design comprised two groups each given 4 weeks of exercise and no training during a second 4-week period. Outcome was daily musculoskeletal well-being, musculoskeletal pain, and surefootedness. In addition, participants performed a behavioral test on body balance prior to when SR-WBV started and after 4 weeks of SR-WBV. Results: Across the 4-week training period, musculoskeletal well-being and surefootedness were significantly increased (p < 0.05), whereas musculoskeletal pain was significantly reduced only in those who reported low back pain during the last 4 weeks prior to the study (p < 0.05). Body balance was significantly increased by SR-WBV (p < 0.05). Conclusion: SR-WBV seems to be an efficient option in primary prevention of musculoskeletal complaints and falls at work.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the sexual maturation, body image, and self-esteem of Korean elementary school girls with symptoms of precocious puberty compared to those with no symptoms of precocious puberty. Methods: The subjects were 309 girls of lower grades in elementary school. Tanner's Sexual Maturation Rating (SMR), Self Image Scale, and Self-esteem Scale were utilized to determine the presence of symptoms of precocious puberty, body image, and self esteem. Collected data were analyzed by Chi-square test, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA using the SPSS/WIN 17.0 program. Results: The percentage of the girls with breast development was 14.9%. Breast development usually began in the third grade (56.5%). Of the subjects, 0.3% were experiencing menstruation. Breast development was related to grade, age, height, weight, and a cause of worry. There was a significant difference of body image between girls with breast development in the first grade and in the second grade. Conclusion: An effective intervention that can improve the self-image of children with symptoms of precocious puberty should be developed to prevent and treat physical and mental problems related to sexual maturation.
Objective: This study is aimed at developing Articulated Human Models(AHM) using superquadrics to improve the geometric accuracy of the body shape. Background: The previous work presents the AHM with geometrical simplification such as ellipsoids to improve analysis efficiency. However, because of the simplicity, their physical properties such as a center of mass and moment of inertia are computed with errors compared to their actual values. Method: This paper introduces a three steps method to present the AHM with superquadrics. First, a 3D whole body scan data are divided into 17 body segments according to body joints. Second, superquadric fitting is employed to minimize the Euclidean distance between body segments and superquadrics. Finally, Fee-Form Deformation is used to improve accuracy over superquadric fitting. Results: Our computational experiment shows that the superquadric models give better accuracy of dynamic analysis than that of ellipsoid ones. Conclusion: We generate the AHM composed of 17 superquadrics and 16 joints using superquadric fitting. Application: The AHM using superquadrics can be used as the base model for dynamics and ergonomics applications with better accuracy because it presents the human motion effectively.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of health care on the body composition and metabolic Syndrome risk factors in male office workers. The subjects of this study were 30~40's male office workers and their physical activities were increased by mobile healthcare. The date analysis in this study was carried out paired ttest using SPSS 20.0 version(${\alpha}=.05$). The result of study were as follow: First. body composition kg(p<.015), BMI(p<.041), WC(p<.026) were significantly decreased after Increase in Physical Activity Using Mobile Health Care, although these did not reach statistical significance, SMM(p<.123), BF(p<.059) was slightly increased and decreased trend. Second, SBP(p<.300), DBP(p<.384) was slightly decreased trend and BS(p<.034) were significantly decreased after Increase in Physical Activity Using Mobile Health Care, Third, plasma TC(p<.015), TG(p<.003), LDL-C)(p<.000) were significantly decreased after Increase in Physical Activity Using Mobile Health Care and plasma HDL-C (p<.003) were significantly increased. These results suggest that increased physical activity using mobile health care has a positive effect on the body composition and metabolic syndrome index in male office workers. Sedentary lifestyles could be changed by Continuous feedback using mobile healthcare.
