자전거 프레임의 형상과 방향에 따른 구조적 내구성 해석 (Structural Durability Analysis Related to Shape and Direction of Bicycle Frames)

  • While accelerating, bicycle frames are subject to torsion forces and deformation. In this study, bicycle frame durability was evaluated by using structural, fatigue, and vibration experiments. Three types of models were designed by changing the frame configurations according to the shape and direction of a bicycle frame design. Because maximum equivalent stress was greatest at the saddle and at connected parts in Models 1, 2, and 3, these frame sections were most vulnerable to failure. Model 2 was the least safe, due to the increased total deformation and equivalent stresses in the top tube horizontal to the ground. Based on vibration and fatigue analysis results, Model 2 was also determined to be the least safe frame, because the head tube was placed slightly higher above the seat tube and inclined to $10^{\circ}$. These study results can be utilized in the design of bicycle frames by investigating prevention and durability against damage.

  • This study was aimed at developing 1) iso-perception maps for various groups of drivers in terms of age, gender, and anthropometry and 2) the experiment framework required for obtaining subjective and objective measures. A total of 9 maps, which describe drivers' perceptions regarding their static behaviors inside a typical mid-size sedan, can be used to improve the utilization of the limited driver workspace, and to select better design alternatives for occupant packaging. An adjustable seating buck, $a^{***}$-camera motion capture system (Vicon), and $a^{**}$-channel EMG system were used for the experiment. Each iso-perception map was developed while H-PT, steering wheel center, or TGS knob center was moved to each of pre-defined positions relative to driver-selected positions. Adjustable ranges or positions of the seat, steering wheel, and TGS lever described in iso-perception maps can be used to determine better package layout alternatives.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose an optimal layout for the accelerator and brake pedals in sedan and SUV, and also to compare the pendant-type pedal with organ-type pedal. 12 male subjects participated in the experiment, the subjects were divided into 3 groups according to height percentile(under 50%ile, 50%ile to 75%ile, over 75%ile). Independent variables were seat height (H30), X and Y coordinates of the center of accelerator and brake pedals and the x and y relative distance between two pedals. Dependent variable was subjective ratings for lower body discomfort. The response surface methodology using a central composite design was employed to develop a prediction model for lower body discomfort of each pedal. It is noticeable that the lateral position of the accelerator in all groups was not statistically significant. The optimal locations of both pedals were found to be distinct according to the percentile of subjects. X distance from accelerator to brake of both-type pedals is similar. But Y distance from accelerator to brake of organ-type is less about 2-3cm than that of pedant-type.

  • Purpose - Korean traditional markets are falling behind the times, because they have not met the demands of social changes including: an overall improvement in standards of living, shift in purchasing form and propagation of cars. It is one of the most indigenous and conventional foods of Korea, taking a seat far in the corner of Korean traditional culture. Research design / data / methodology - Korean traditional rice cakes however have their limits. They are produced and sold by independent shop owners who cannot compete with the brand power of franchise organizations. The leadership of adminstration is needed for these shop owners particularly in visual merchandising related to interior design and display. Results - Additionally, the advent of major company-run rice cake cafe adds fresh fuel to the problem in addition to small but luxurious packaging. Small business owners need packaging technology for overall quality improvement of sales of rice cakes. Additional help is needed with the mode of packing to promote sales and win consumer confidence. Conclusions - Further assistance with marketing for seasonal displays is needed as well as teaching business owners how to read graphic data. Regular specialized education for visual merchandising of rice cakes could help independent market owners win the competition against franchise-based organizations.

압력잠김 및 열고착 현상 발생가능 밸브의 선정 (Selection of Valves Susceptible to Pressure Locking and Thermal Binding)

  • Some gate valves are susceptible to pressure locking and thermal binding which prevent the safety function. The safety related gate valves susceptible to pressure locking and thermal binding shall be identified and taken preventive actions to ensure the safety function. The identification of the gate valves susceptible to pressure locking and thermal binding needs the evaluation of system design, valve and piping arrangement, test requirements, and operating conditions. Application of preventive methods should consider the system safety function, applicability, effectiveness, interface with system design, and cost. The selection procedure of valves susceptible to pressure locking and thermal binding can be effectively used in industry including nuclear power plants. In order to prevent the pressure locking, the hole can be drilled through the one disc of upstream side or down stream and the external equalizing line can be installed from bonnet to downstream or upstream. The double disc parallel seat valve type can be used instead of flexible wedge gate valve to prevent the thermal binding. The identification of gate valves susceptible to pressure locking and thermal binding, and preventive actions will meet the regulatory requirements and enhance the availability and safety of plants.

  • In this paper, the ride comfort from a computer simulation was compared to the experimental result. For measuring ride comfort of a passenger car, acceleration data was obtained from the floor and seat during highway running with different speeds. The measured acceleration components were multiplied by the proper weighting functions, and then summed together to calculate overall ride values. Testing several passenger cars, the ride comforts were compared. In order to investigate the effect of vibration signals on the steering wheel, an apparatus to measure the vibrations and weighting functions on the steering wheel were designed. The effect of the steering accelerations on the ride comfort were investigated and added for the overall ride comfort. For the computer simulations, Korean dummy models were developed based on the Hybrid III dummy models. For the Korean dummy scaling, the national anthropometric survey of Korean people was used. In order to compare and check the validity of the developed Korean dummy models, dynamic responses were compared to those of Hybrid III dummy models. The computer simulation using the MADYMO software was also compared to the experimental results.

  • Due to the customer needs of reducing cost and delivery date shorting, prompt change in the production plan became more important. In the multi period system (For instance, production line.) where target processing time exists, production, idle and delay risks occur repeatedly for multiple periods. In such situations, delay of one process may influence the delivery date of an entire process. In this paper, we discuss the minimum expected cost of the case mentioned above, where the risk depends on the previous situation and occurs repeatedly for multiple periods. This paper considers the optimal switching frequency to minimize the total expected cost of the production process. In this paper, first, the optimal switching frequency model is proposed. Next, the mathematic formulation of the total expectation is presented. Finally, the policy of optimal switching frequency is investigated by numerical experiments.

  • In recent years, there are so many serious crashes involving coaches, especially the frontal collision occupies 40% of the front of the vehicle, Frontal collisions account for 100% of the front of the vehicle affecting the driver and side-impact collisions that injure the person in the vehicle. Therefore, the research into improving and optimizing the structure is necessary for risk of injury for passengers in frontal accidents. In this paper, we have designed a Shock absorber that can absorb collision energy. Research using HYPERMESH software. to build the finite element model and calculate the meshing to suit the mesh size of 5mm. apply LS-DYNA software to calculate structural strength. In the study, for a vehicle to collide with a hard obstacle occupying 100% of the head of the vehicle. Then, the experimental design method, Minitab is used for find the structural parameters in the design. Improvement results showed that the acceleration of the impact on passengers and the driver is decreased by 55,17%. The mass of texture improvements is reduced by 11%, according to the requirements of European Standards ECE R94.

원전 단종 밸브의 DED 방식 금속 3D프린팅 제작 및 성능시험 (Manufacturing and Performance Test of Obsolete Valve in NPP using DED Metal 3D Printing Technology )

  • The 3D printing technology is one of the fourth industrial revolution technology that drives innovation in the manufacturing process, and should be applied to nuclear industry for various purposes according to the manufacturing trend change. In nuclear industry, it can be applied to manufacture obsolete items and new designed parts in advanced reactors or small modular reactors (SMRs), replacing the traditional manufacturing technologies. A gate valve body was manufactured, which was obsolete in nuclear power plant, using DED(Directed Energy Deposition) metal 3D printing technology after restoring design characteristics including 3D design drawing by reverse engineering. The 3D printed valve body was assembled with commercial parts such as seat-ring, disk, stem, and actuator for performance test. For the valve assembly, including 3D printed valve body, several tests were performed, including pressure test, end-loading test, and seismic test according to KEPIC MGG and KEPIC MFC. In the pressure test, hydraulic pressure of 391kgf/cm2 was applied to 3D printed valve body, and no leak was detected. Also the 3D printed valve assembly was performed well in end-loading and seismic tests.

  • 항공기, 자동차를 포함하는 모든 수송수단 설계에 있어서 내추락성 설계가 강조되고 있으나, 심각한 부상 또는 사망으로 이어지는 사고는 지속적으로 발생해 왔고, 앞으로도 발생할 것이다. 심지어 생존 가능으로 분류되는 사고에서조차도 상당한 수준의 인명사고가 있어 왔음은 주지의 사실이다. 그러나 이러한 사고들이 반드시 불가피하다고만 할 수는 없다. 만약 좌석, 구속장치, 탑승공간 강도조건 등 탑승자 보호계통이 적절히 또는 바르게 설계된다면 추락상황에서의 생존성은 획기적으로 증대될 수 있다. 이를 위해서는 급격한 가속도 변화환경에서의 인체 허용한도 특성을 충분히 이해해야 하며, 이를 바탕으로 인체 허용한도 제한치 이내에서 하중조건이 유지되도록 탑승공간을 설계하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 급격한 가속도 변화환경에서의 인체 허용한도의 중요성과 예측되는 추락환경 변화에 따른 설계요구도 변화 필요성을 강조함으로써 내추락성 설계에 대한 공감대를 넓히고자 한다.
