This study examines trends of web query types and topics submitted to NAVER during one year period by analyzing query logs and click logs. There was a seasonal difference in the distribution of query types. Query type distribution was also different between weekdays and weekends, and between different days of the week. The log data show seasonal changes in terms of the topics of queries. Search topics seem to change between weekdays and weekends, and between different days of the week. However, there was little change in overall patterns of search behavior across one year. The implications for system designers and web content providers are discussed.

This experiment was to study the effect of pure mineral nitrogen fertilizing on seasonal distribution of dry matter yield and the advisable mineral nitrogen amounts on grassland. The results were as follows: 1. With longer regrowth periods the absolute dry matter yields and the nitrogen-efficiences due to nitrogen fertilizing increased substantially, whereas the quality declined at the relatively lesser cutting frequencies. 2. The first cut at 3-cut regimes, the first and fourth cut at 4-cut regimes, and the second and last cut at 5-and 6-cut regimes showed the highest nitrogen-efficiency, respectively. 3. By the sigmaformed process of production curve the most efficient mineral N-dressing rate per ha and cut was calculated: 42-56kg N on the 3-cut areas, 39-55kg N on the 4-cut areas, 38-47kg N on the 5-cut areas and 35-48kg N/ha/cut on the &cut areas. 4. In dependence on site and kind of calculation the economical borders were reached with the following dressings of mineral N/ha/cut: 90-100kg on the 3-cut areas, 70-100kg on the 4-cut areas and 50- 90kg on the 5-and 6-cut areas.

The purpose of this study is to develop computer simulation model that produce precipitation patterns from stochastic model. In the paper(I) of this study, the alternate renewal process(ARP) is used for the daily precipitation series. In this paper(Il), stochastic simulation models for the daily precipitation series are developed by combining Markov chain for the precipitation occurrence process and continuous probability distribution for the precipitation amounts on the wet days. The precipitation occurrence is determined by first order Markov chain with two states(dry and wet). The amounts of precipitation, given that precipitation has occurred, are described by a Gamma, Pearson Type-III, Extremal Type-III, and 3 parameter Weibull distribution. Since the daily precipitation series shows seasonal variation, models are identified for each month of the year separately. To illustrate the application of the simulation models, daily precipitation data were taken from records at the seven locations of the Nakdong and Seomjin river basin. Simulated data were similar to actual data in terms of distribution for wet and dry spells, seasonal variability, and precipitation amounts.
In this study, we analyzed the spatial and temporal distribution of wind resources over Korea based on hourly observational data recorded over a period of 5 years from 457 stations belonging to Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). The surface and 850 hPa wind data obtained from the Korea Local Analysis and Prediction System (KLAPS) and the Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System (RDAPS) over a period of 1 year are used as supplementary data sources. Wind speed is generally high over seashores, mountains, and islands. In 62 (13.5%) stations, mean wind speeds for 5 years are greater than $3ms^{-1}$. The effects of seasonal wind, land-sea breeze, and mountain-valley winds on wind resources over Korea are evaluated as follows: First, wind is weak during summer, particularly over the Sobaek Mountains. However, over the coastal region of the Gyeongnam-province, strong southwesterly winds are observed during summer owing to monsoon currents. Second, the wind speed decreases during night-time, particularly over the west coast, where the direction of the land breeze is opposite to that of the large-scale westerlies. Third, winds are not always strong over seashores and highly elevated areas. The wind speed is weaker over the seashore of the Gyeonggi-province than over the other seashores. High wind speed has been observed only at 5 stations out of the 22 high-altitude stations. Detailed information on the wind resources conditions at the 21 stations (15 inland stations and 6 island stations) with high wind speed in Korea, such as the mean wind speed, frequency of wind speed available (WSA) for electricity generation, shape and scale parameters of Weibull distribution, constancy of wind direction, and wind power density (WPD), have also been provided. Among total stations in Korea, the best possible wind resources for electricity generation are available at Gosan in Jeju Island (mean wind speed: $7.77ms^{-1}$, WSA: 92.6%, WPD: $683.9Wm^{-2}$) and at Mt. Gudeok in Busan (mean wind speed: $5.66ms^{-1}$, WSA: 91.0%, WPD: $215.7Wm^{-2}$).
Five sampling sites were selected to investigate the distribution characteristics of air pollutants with pollution sources and weather conditions in Ulsan. $SO_2,\;NO_2,\;O_3,\;CO,\;PM_{10}$ concentrations and weather conditions with time were analyzed by using several statistical methods. Also, the distribution characteristics of ambient air quality were estimated by pollution-rose and multi-regression analysis. As a result of the analysis, $NO_2,\;CO\;and\;PM_{10}$ concentrations were high in winter season, whereas $SO_2\;and\;O_3$ concentrations were high in summer season. This concentration distribution was caused by the unfavorable geographical location, which the residential area was located at the downwind direction to industrial area. From the pollution-rose, we confirmed that each pollutant influenced the downwind residential areas because of seasonal wind direction. $SO_2$ concentration has shown positive correlation of $0.2{\simm}0.3$ for $NO_2,\;PM_{10}$ and temperature, while $O_3$ concentration has shown negative correlation. Also, $NO_2$ and CO concentrations, pollutants generated by combustion, have shown positive correlation, while $O_3$ concentration and temperature have shown negative correlation. Therefore, it could be suggested that a seasonal air quality policy and a new guideline of air quality was necessary in each season with wind directions to reduce the air pollution level in Ulsan.
Our study indicates the zooplankton abundance with characteristics of water column and the vertical distribution in Lake Jinyang, South Korea. Seasonal changes of zooplankton community are determined by environmental parameters like water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, suspended solids and chlorophyll a. In lake Jinyang, this study showed that the zooplankton abundance in transition zone(St.1, St.2) was higher density than in lacustrine zone(St.3). Rotifers were dominant zooplankton and among them, Polyarthra spp., Keratella spp. and Nauplli(Copepoda) were common. But Cladoceran showed the low density. During survey period, zooplankton abundance with vertical distribution in surface layer(epilimnion) was higher than in bottom layer(hypolimninon). Zooplankton densities in Surface and middle layer showed positive relationship with water temperature and the densities in bottom layer(hypolimnion) showed positive relationship with chlorophyll a. Our assumption in spite of the short term study are supported by the facts that increase of temperature driven by climate change more maintains the thermocline duration by the summer temperature stratification. Thus the results suggest that the climate changes are an important source of changing zooplankton community feeding phytoplankton. So the zooplankton should be monitoring by the ecological management of Lake Jinyang to cope with climate changes like flood plain or drought.
This study is an effort to develop a stochastic model of precipitation series that preserves the pattern of occurrence of precipitation events throughout the year as well as several characteristics of the duration, amount, and intensity of precipitation events. In this study an event cluster model is used to describe the occurrence of precipitation events. A logarithmic negative mixture distribution is used to describe event duration and separation. The number of events within each cluster is also described by the Poisson cluster process. The duration of each event within a cluster and the separation of events within a single cluster are described by a logarithmic negative mixture distribution. The stochastic model for hourly precipitation occurrence process is fitted to historical precipitation data by estimating the model parameters. To allow for seasonal variations in the precipitation process, the model parameters are estimated separately for each month. an analysis of thirty-four years of historical and simulated hourly precipitation data for Seoul indicates that the stochastic model preserves many features of historical precipitation. The seasonal variations in number of precipitation events in each month for the historical and simulated data are also approximately identical. The marginal distributions for event characteristics for the historical and simulated data were similar. The conditional distributions for event characteristics for the historical and simulated data showed in general good agreement with each other.
The seasonal effects on the biostability of drinking water were investigated by comparing the seasonal variation of assimilable organic carbon (AOC) in full-scale water treatment process and adsorption of AOC by three filling materials in lab-scale column test. In full-scale, pre-chlorination and ozonation significantly increase $AOC_{P17\;(Pseudomonas\;fluorescens\;P17)}$ and $AOC_{NOX\;(Aquaspirillum\;sp.\;NOX)}$, respectively. AOC formation by oxidation could increase with temperature, but the increased AOC could affect the biostability of the following processes more significantly in winter than in warm seasons due to the low biodegradation in the pipes and the processes at low temperature. $AOC_{P17}$ was mainly removed by coagulation-sedimentation process, especially in cold season. Rapid filtration could effectively remove AOC only during warm seasons by primarily biodegradation, but biological activated carbon filtration could remove AOC in all seasons by biodegradation during warm season and by adsorption and bio-regeneration during cold season. The adsorption by granular activated carbon and anthracite showed inverse relationship with water temperature. The advanced treatment can contribute to enhance the biostability in the distribution system by reducing AOC formation potential and helping to maintain stable residual chlorine after post-chlorination.

The research paper endeavors to investigate the presence of seasonal anomalies in the Indian equity market. It also aims to verify the notion that equity markets are for long-term investors. The study employs daily index data of Sensex, Bombay Stock Exchange, to understand its volatility for the period ranging from January 2001 to August 2020. To analyze the seasonal effects in the stock market of India, multiple regression techniques along with descriptive analysis, graphical analysis and various statistical tests are used. The study also employs the rolling returns at different time intervals in order to understand the underlying risks and volatility involved in equity returns. The results from the analysis reveal that daily and monthly seasonality is not present in Sensex returns i.e., investors cannot earn abnormal returns by timing their investment decisions. Hence, the major finding of this study is that the Indian stock market performance is random, and the returns are efficient. The other major conclusion of the research is that the equity returns are profitable in the long run providing investors a hope that they can make gains and compensate for the loss in one period by a superior performance in some other periods.

Background: The Korean Peninsula exhibits a characteristic graded floral distribution, with northern (Manchurian flora) and southern (China-Japan-Korea flora) lineage species coexisting according to climatic and topographical characteristics. However, this distribution has been altered by climate change. To identify ecosystem changes caused by climate change and develop appropriate measures, the current ecological status of the entire Korean Peninsula should first be determined; however, analysis of the current floral distribution in North Korea has been hampered for political reasons. To overcome these limitations, this study constructed a database of floral distributions in both South and North Korea by integrating spatial information from the previously established National Ecological Survey in South Korea and geocoding data from the literature on biological distributions published in North Korea. It was then applied to analyze the current status and distribution characteristics of Manchurian and China-Japan-Korea plant species on the Korean Peninsula. Results: In total, 45,877 cases were included in the Manchurian and China-Japan-Korea floral distribution database. China-Japan-Korea species were densely distributed on Jeju-do and along the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula. The distribution density decreased as the latitude increased, and the distributions reached higher-latitude regions in the coastal areas compared with the inland regions. Manchurian species were distributed throughout North Korea, while they were densely distributed in the refugia formed in the high-elevation mountain regions and the Baekdudaegan in South Korea. In the current distribution of biomes classified according to the Whittaker method, subtropical and endemic species were densely distributed in temperate seasonal forest and woodland/shrubland biomes, whereas boreal species were densely distributed in the boreal forest biome Korean Peninsula, with a characteristic gradation of certain species distributed in the temperate seasonal forest biome. Factor analysis showed that temperature and latitude were the main factors influencing the distribution of flora on the Korean Peninsula. Conclusions: The findings reported herein on the current floral distribution trends across the entire Korean Peninsula will prove valuable got mitigating the ecological disturbances caused by ongoing climate change. Additionally, the gathered flora data will serve as a basis for various follow-up studies on climate change.
