고속건조기에 의한 수산폐기물 완전처리장치 개발 (Development of Perfect Recycling Equipment for Sea Fish Waste)

  • 수산시장이나 어항에서 발생하는 수산폐기물을 수거하여 처리하는 과정은 긴 시간과 불결한 처리로 악취발생 및 비위생적인 면이 많아 민원의 대상이 되어 왔다. 이것을 수거하여 완전 처리하는 기술을 적용하면 비위생에 대한 민원이 없어지고 자원재활용의 비율을 확실히 높일 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 지방과 단백질이 풍부한 수산폐기물을 증류건조시켜, 고형물은 가축사료로 활용하고 응축수는 탈취제나 하수처리장의 외부탄소원으로 활용하는 완전 재활용공법을 소개한다.

안면도에서 대기 중 가스상 PAHs의 계절적 변동 (Seasonal Variation of Atmospheric Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) on Anmyeon Island)

  • Passive air samplers with polyurethane foam (PUF) disks were employed to determine seasonal gas phase variation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in ambient air on Anmyeon island from March 2007 to January 2008. Sum of 13 PAHs ranged between $3.5\;ng/m^3$ and $27.6\;ng/m^3$. Total PAHs during the heating season was 6.2 times higher than non-heating season. The dominant PAHs components during sampling periods were low and middle molecular weight PAHs including phenanthrene, fluoranthene, pyrene and chrysene. Gas exchange fluxes of PAHs across the air-water interface of the Yellow Sea were calculated using a modified two-film exchange model. PAHs fluxes ranged from $196\;ng/m^2/d$ net volatilization during summer to $3830\;ng/m^2/d$ net absorption during winter. Passive air sampler provides a convenient and cost-effective tool for measuring averaged gas phase PAHs, which was successfully used for calculation of gas exchange flux of PAHs in the Yellow Sea.

Method of Integrating Landsat-5 and Landsat-7 Data to Retrieve Sea Surface Temperature in Coastal Waters on the Basis of Local Empirical Algorithm

  • A useful radiance-converting method was developed to convert the Landsat-7 ETM+thermal-infrared (TIR) band's radiance ($L_{{\lambda},L7/ETM+}$) to that of Landsat-5 TM TIR ($L_{{\lambda},L5/TM+})$ as: $L_{{\lambda},L5/TM}=0.9699{\times}L_{{\lambda},L7/ETM+}+0.1074\;(R^2=1)$. In addition, based on the radiance-converting equation and the linear relation between digital number (DN) and at-satellite radiance, a DN-converting equation can be established to convert DN value of the TIR band between Landsat-5 and Landsat-7. Via this method, it is easy to integrate Landsat-5 and Landsat-7 TIR data to retrieve the sea surface temperature (SST) in coastal waters on the basis of local empirical algorithms in which the radiance or DN of Lansat-5 and 7 TIR band is usually the only input independent variable. The method was employed in a local empirical algorithm in Daya Bay, China, to detect the thermal pollution of cooling water discharge from the Daya Bay nuclear power station (DNPS). This work demonstrates that radiance conversion is an effective approach to integration of Landsat-5 and Landsat-7 data in the process of a SST retrieval which is based on local empirical algorithms.

  • There have been many accidents of passenger ships on the sea and they have caused a big loss of human lives. Maritime Safety Committee(MSC) of International Maritime Organization(IMO) made evacuation analysis of Ro-Ro passenger ships mandatory in order to save as many lives as possible at the time of accident. But this is a temporary regulation and HSC/IMO ties to introduce a performance-based regulation to improve the effect of regulation. Simulation-based evacuation analysis is the basis of performance-based regulation. In this paper, we performed a simulation-based evacuation analysis on a passenger ship, which is usually used in the plying between land and islands in Korea, with EXODUS system. Through inspecting the results from this analysis in more detail, we can make a proposal to improve the safety of passenger ship. Finally we describe the features of IMEX(Intelligent Model for Extrication Simulation), a new evacuation model being developed in KRISO.

황해 동부해역 표층퇴적물의 중금속 농도 분포 (Distribution of Heavy Metal Concentrations in Surface Sediments of the eastern Yellow Sea)

  • 황해 동부해역 표층퇴적물의 중금속 분포 특성을 파악하기 위하여 입도, 유기탄소(TOC)와 함께 중금속 원소들(Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Cr, Mn, As, Ni, Co, Li, Fe, Al)의 농도를 분석하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 일부 정점에서 Pb, Mn, As를 제외하면 모든 중금속 농도의 분포는 입도 및 TOC의 분포와 유사하게 황해 중앙해역에서 상대적으로 높고, 한국 연안으로 갈수록 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 입도와 중금속 농도간의 관계를 통하여 대부분의 금속은 입도가 세립할수록 농도가 높게 나타나는 일반적인 경향을 보였다. 그러나 일부 정점에서 Pb은 조립질 퇴적물에서의 암석기원(feldspar) 영향, Mn은 생물기원($CaCO_3$) 영향, As는 중광물(pyrite) 특성에 따라 분포 양상이 다르게 나타났다. 과거에 조사한 자료(2000년)와 비교했을 때, 황해 동부해역에서 지난 15년 동안의 추가적인 중금속 농축은 없었고, 투기해역에 대한 저질환경은 과거에 비해 크게 개선되지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 연구해역 내 모든 중금속의 농도는 한국과 중국에서 규정하고 있는 최소기준(TEL, MSQ-1)보다 낮았지만, 농축지수(enrichment factor; EF), 농집지수(geo-accumulation index; $I_{geo}$), 생태위해성지수(ecological risk index; ERI)는 Cu, Pb, Zn, Cr이 황해 중앙해역에서 상대적으로 높게 나타났다.

  • The degree of contamination on outdoor insulator is one of the most importance factors to determine the pollution level of outdoor insulations, and the sea salt is known as the most dangerous pollutant. As shown through the preceding study, the generation of salt pollutant and the pollution degree of outdoor insulator have a close relation with meteorological conditions, such as wind velocity, rainfall, and so on. So, in this paper, we have made database using the past meteorological data and ESDD(equivalent salt deposit density) and then we predicted the pollution degree in the future after analyzing currently meteorological data of database.

Oil Spill Response System using Server-client GIS

  • It is necessary to develop the one stop system in order to protect our marine environment rapidly from oil spill accident. The purpose of this study is to develop real time database for oil spill prediction modeling and implement real time prediction modelling with ESI and server-client GIS based user interface. The existing oil spill prediction model cannot provide one stop information system for public and government who should protect sea from oil spill accident. The development of multi user based information system permits integrated handling of real time meteorological data from external ftp. A server-client GIS based model is integrated on the basis of real time database and ESI map to provide the result of the oil spill prediction model. End users can access through the client interface and request analysis such as oil spill prediction and GIS functions on the network as their own purpose.

  • 해양오염의 가장 큰 오염원은 선박에 실린 기름들이다. 근래에 들어 HNS(Hazardous and noxious substances)로 명명하는 유해위험물질의 운반이 점차 증가함에 따라 국가적으로 기름만을 해양오염의 방제 대상으로 두지 않고 유해위험물질을 모두 해양오염 및 인명안전에 관계된다는 것에 관심사를 집중시키고 있다. HNS 물질의 해양 사고 발생 시 가장 중요한 것은 얼마나 신속하고 정확하게 반응을 하는가 하는 것이 중요한 관점이다. 이러한 중요한 사항을 위한 결정을 위해 필요한 HNS 방제정보지원시스템의 구축에 대해서 소개하고자 한다.

  • 여수 광양항은 지리적으로 좀은 협수 로와 폐쇄성 항 이면서 여천국가산업단지와 정유 선사 통이 밀집한 관계로 대형 원유선 및 유조선의 입 출항이 빈번하여 대형 해양오염사고가 상존하는 지역이다. 대형 해양오염 및 광양해역의 사고 시 신속한 방제 대응방안 제시와 예방 방안을 마련하여 안전하고 깨끗한 해양환경을 보전하고자 함.

생지화학모델링을 이용한 동중국해 해양-대기 CO2교환량의 변화 연구 (Investigation of Change in Air-Sea CO2 Exchange over the East China Sea using Biogeochemical Ocean Modeling)

  • A biogeochemical model was used to estimate air-sea $CO_2$ exchange over the East China Sea. Since fresh water discharge from the Changjiang River and relevant chemistry were not considered in the employed model, we were not able to produce accurate results around the Changjiang River mouth. This factor aside, the model showed that the East China Sea, away from the Changjiang River mouth, takes approximately $1.5{\sim}2\;mole\;m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ of $CO_2$ from the atmosphere. The model also showed that biological factors modify the air-sea $CO_2$ flux by only a few percent when we assumed that biological activity increased two-fold. Therefore, we can argue that the biological effect is not strong enough over this area within the framework of the current phosphate-based biological model. Compared to the preindustrial era, in 1995 the East China Sea absorbed $0.4{\sim}0.8\;mole\;m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ more $CO_2$. If warming of the sea surface is considered, in addition to the increase in atmospheric $CO_2$ concentration, by 2045 the East China Sea would absorb $0.2{\sim}0.4\;mole\;m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ less $CO_2$ compared to the non-warming case.
