The electrochemical properties of PVD-grown WC-( $Ti_{1-x}$A $I_{x}$)N multiplayer films in a 3.5% NaCl solution

  • WC-( $Ti_{1-x}$ A $l_{x}$) N coatings of constant changing Al concentration were deposited on S45C substrates by high-ionization sputtered PVD method. The Al concentration could be controlled by using evaporation source for Al and fixing the evaporation rate of the metals (i.e, WC- $Ti_{0.86}$A $l_{0.14}$N, WC- $Ti_{0.72}$A $l_{0.28}$N, and WC- $Ti_{0.58}$A $l_{0.42}$N). The corrosion behavior of WC-( $Ti_{1-x}$ A $l_{x}$)N coatings in a deaerated 3.5% NaCl solution was investigated by electrochemical corrosion tests and surface analyses. The measured galvanic corrosion currents between coating and substrate indicated that WC- $Ti_{0.72}$A $l_{0.28}$N coating showed the best resistance of the coating tested. The results of potentiodynamic polarization tests showed that the WC- $Ti_{0.72}$A $l_{0.28}$N coating deposited with 32W/c $m^2$ of Al target revealed higher corrosion resistance. This indicated that the WC- $Ti_{0.72}$A $l_{0.28}$N coating is effective in improving corrosion resistance. In EIS, the WC- $Ti_{0.72}$A $l_{0.28}$N coating showed one time constant loop and increased a polarization resistance of coating ( $R_{coat}$) relative to other samples. Compositional variations of WC-( $Ti_{1-x}$ A $l_{x}$)N coatings were analyzed by EDS and XRD analysis was performed to evaluate the crystal structure and compounds formation behavior. Surface morphologies of the films were observed using SEM and AFM. Scratch test was performed to measure film adhesion strength.strength. adhesion strength.strength.

Talin-1 Correlates with Reduced Invasion and Migration in Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cells

  • Background: Talin-1 is a cytoskeleton protein that participates in cell migration and plays a role in tumor formation, migration, and metastasis in different types of cancer. Chinese investigators have observed that the levels of Talin-1 protein and mRNA expression in HCC tissues are significantly lower than in the adjacent non-cancerous tissue. However, Japanese investigators have reported that Talin-1 is upregulated in HCC. Tln2 as homologous gene of Tln-1, which encodes a very similar protein, but the role of Talin-2 is very little known in primary liver cancer (PLC). We investigated whether the expression of Talin-1 in PLC may be associated with the histological subtype as well as the role of Talin-1 in tumor cell invasion and migration using human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines. Materials and Methods: We measured the mRNA expression levels of Talin-1 and Talin-2 in five human liver cancer cell lines and normal human liver cell ($LO_2$ cell line) by real-time PCR and the protein expression levels of Talin-1 by Western blot. Migration and invasion of the cells were assessed using transwell assays and cell scratch experiments, respectively, and proliferation was assessed by soft AGAR colony formation. Results: Talin-1 and Talin-2 expression differed significantly between the five human liver cancer cell lines and $LO_2$ cell line (p<0.05). Compared with the $LO_2$ cell line, the invasion and migration capabilities of the five cancer cell lines differed significantly (p<0.05). Similarly, the colony-forming ability differed (p<0.05). Conclusions: High levels of Talin-1 expression are correlated with reduced invasion and migration as well as decreased malignancy in human liver cancer cell lines; the suppression of Talin-1 promotes invasion and migration. In addition, Talin-2 may be correlated with invasion and migration in human hepatocellular carcinoma.

Nanotube shape on the Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys with applied potentials

  • Over the last years the anodic formation of ordered $TiO_2$ nanotube layers has created significant scientific interest. Titanium oxide nanotube formation on the titanium or titanium alloy surface is expected to be important to improve cell adhesion and proliferation under clinical conditions. It should be possible to control the nanotube size and morphology for biomedical implant use by controlling the applied voltage, alloying element, current density, anodization time, and electrolyte. $TiO_2$ nanotubes show excellent biocompatibility, and the open volume in the tubes may be exploited as a drug release platform and so on. Therefore, in this study, Nanotube shape on the Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys with applied potentials was reserched. $TiO_2$ nanotube formation on Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys was carried out using anodization technique as a function of applied DC potential (10 V to 30 V and 30 V to 10 V) and anodization time for 60~120 min in $1MH_3PO_4$ with small additions of (0.8 wt. %, to 1.2 wt. %) NaF. The morphology change of anodized Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys was determined by FE-SEM, XRD, and EDS.

  • This paper describes a new technology to develop the character recognition technology based on pattern recognition for non-contacting inspection optical lens slant or precision parts, and including external form state of lens or electronic parts for the performance verification, this development can achieve badness finding. And, establish to existing reflex data because inputting surface badness degree of scratch's standard specification condition directly, and error designed to distinguish from product more than schedule error to badness product by normalcy product within schedule extent after calculate the error comparing actuality measurement reflex data and standard reflex data mutually. Developed system to smallest 1 pixel unit though measuring is possible 1 pixel as $37{\mu}m{\times}37{\mu}m$ ($0.1369{\times}10-4mm^2$) the accuracy to $1.5{\times}10-4mm$ minutely measuring is possible performance verification and trust ability through an experiment prove.

  • In-plane tension fatigue tests(R=0.1) were carried out to investigate the initiation and growth behaviors of very small surface fatigue cracks on smooth unnotched surfaces of type 304 stainless steel at room temperature. The present paper deals with the unification of two approaches to the analysis of fatigue: the one approach is based on fracture mechanics concept and the other on low-cycle fatigue concept. The results are;(1)Maximum crack length, 2 $a_{max}$, initiated at a very small surface scratch not exceeding 20 .mu.m which can exist on the surface after buffing. And the density of small surface crack is remarkably low compared to that of mild steel. (2) The growth rate, d(2a)/dN, of very small fatigue cracks can be represented by one straight line as a function of either stress intensity factor range, .DELTA. $K_{I}$ or cyclic total strain intensity factor range, .DELTA. $K_{\epsilon}$$_{I}$/, for various values of the nominal stress range.e.e.e.e.

A study of Status of Students' Health Problems by ICHPPC Method (ICHPPC에 의(依)한 학생(學生)들이 건강문제(健康問題) 분류(分類)에 관(關)한 연구)

  • This study was conducted for the development of recording system of students' health problems, and for the application of International Classification of Health Problem in Primary Care(ICHPPC) as a tool of morbidity classification in school health care. The data were collected from 12th of September to 24th of September in 1988. The objects were composed of health problems written by 10 school nurses who take service in the elementary school. The results were as follows: 1. The features of students' health problmes. The health problems of students were 68 problems from the total numbers of 361 codes of ICHPPC. The 93.4% of health problems was contained in 20 descriptive diagnoses and 97.0% was contained in 30 descriptive diagnoses. According to frequency of main health problems, There were abrasion, scratch and blister(26.7%); disorder of stomach function, other disease of stomach and duodenum (20.4%); headache(10.6%); bruise and contusion (5.3%); acute URI (5.0%); laceration and open wound(4.6%); Insect bite and sting(4.0%); epistaxis(3.4%): abdominal pain(2.6%): superficial tissue(1.7%). Out of all health problems, Category 17(accident, injury and poisoning was 44.7%. and Category 9(digestive system Disease) was 22.2%. 2. Applicability of ICHPPC by the school nurses. School nurses used 68 codes, among the total number of 361 codes from ICHPPC. According to ICHPPC method, school nurses can classified more diverse health problems systematically and objectively than that in other studies on school nurses activities. ICHPPC was found as a useful and applicable tool of morbidity classification in the practice of school nurses.

Effect of DC Bias on the Deposition of Nanocrystallin Diamond Film over Ti/WC-Co Substrate (Ti/WC-Co 기판위에 나노결정 다이아몬드 박막 증착 시 DC 바이어스 효과)

  • 초경합금 위에 RF Magnetron Sputter를 이용하여 Ti 중간층을 증착 후 MPECVD(Microwave Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) 시스템을 이용하여 나노결정 다이아몬드 박막을 증착 하였다. 공정압력, 마이크로웨이브 전력, Ar/$CH_4$ 조성비, 기판온도를 일정하게 놓고 직류 bias의 인가 여부를 변수로 하고 증착시간을 0.5, 1, 2시간으로 변화시켜 박막을 제작하였다. 제작된 시편은 FE-SEM과 AFM을 이용하여 다이아몬드 박막의 표면과 다이아몬드 박막의 표면 거칠기 등을 측정하였고, Raman spectroscopy와 XRD를 이용하여 다이아몬드 결정성을 확인하였다. Automatic Scratch �岵謙�ter를 이용하여 복합박막의 층별 접합력을 측정하였다. 바이어스를 인가하지 않고 다이아몬드 박막을 증착할 경우 증착 시간이 증가할수록 다이아몬드 입자의 평균 크기가 증가하며 입자들이 차지하는 면적이 증가하는 것을 확인하였다. 그러나 1시간이 경과해도 아직 완전한 박막은 형성되지 못하고 2시간 이상 증착 시 완전한 박막을 이루는 것이 확인되었다. 이에 비해서 바이어스 전압을 인가할 경우 1시간 내에 완전한 박막을 이루었다. 표면 거칠기는 바이어스를 인가한 경우가 그렇지 않은 경우에 비해서 조금 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 바이어스 효과는 표면에서의 핵생성 밀도 증가와 재핵생성 속도 증가에 기인하는 것으로 해석된다.

Wear properties of (Ti$_{1-x}$Cr$_{x}$)N coatings deposited by ion-plating method (이온 플레이팅법으로 제조한 (Ti$_{1-x}$Cr$_{x}$)N 박막의 마모특성에 관한 연구)

  • ($Ti_{1-x}$ $Cr_{x}$ )N coatings were deposited by an ion-plating method in a reactor with two separate metal sources, Ti and Cr. Ti was evaporated using an electron beam, while Cr evaporation was carried out by resistant heating. The Ti and Cr concentrations in the coatings were controlled by the Ti and Cr evaporation ratio. The coating hardness increased with increasing the Cr content(x) and showed a maximum value of 6,000 HK at around x=0.8. The critical load of the coatings, measured by the scratch test, was around 30 N. The wear resistance properties of the ($Ti_{1-x}$$Cr_{ x}$)N coatings were evaluated using a CSEM pin-on-disk type tribometer. A Cr-steel ball as well as a SiC ball, which had hardness values of 590 HK and 2,600 HK respectively, were used as the pin. After the wear test, the surface morphology, roughness and the concentration of the coatings were investigated, with the main focus being on the effect of wear debris and the transferred layer on the wear behavior.

  • In order to improve the physical properties of brown rice by hydration and cooking, the amount of water absorption, hardness, reducing sugar, and minerals were measured for rice (NR), brown rice (NBR), and scratched brown rice (SBR). The amounts of water absorption were present in the order of NBR<0.07 SBR<0.20 SBR=NR after 210 min. The moisture contents of gelatinization rice were significantly different by degree of milling and scratch. The hardness of gelatinization rice were present in the order of NR<0.20 SBR<0.07 SBR

  • This study was to investigate the effects of aquarobics exercise on body composition, fitness and health related quality of life (sf-36) in elderly women and to provide basic data to exercise prescription. The subjects were the 60~70 years old seniors who participated in exercise program at health promotion center and had been divided into exercise(N=25) and control(N=30) group, respectively. Aquarobics exercise was performed twice per week for 8 weeks at 40~70% heart rate reserve(exercise intensity) and body composition, fitness and SF-36 were measured before and after exercise. In body composition, there were significance in weight(p=0.044), body mass index(p=0.038), and %fat(p=0.005) between groups before and after. In fitness, there were no significance in fitness such as chair stand, and chair sit and reach, but there were significance in 2-minute step(p<0.001), arm curl(p=0.005), back scratch(p=0.023), and 8-ft up and go(p<0.001) between groups. In SF-36, there were no significance in physical functioning, role limitation-physical, role limitation-emotional, social functioning, mental health, and vitality, but there were significance in bodily pain(p=0.039), and general health(p=0.024) between groups. It was found that aquarobics exercise was one of the good exercise types for the elderly to improve body composition and fitness. Also, there was positive effect on health-related quality of life partially.
