MetaGene: Metadata Generation and Contents Packaging for Learning Objects based on SCORM (MetaGene : SCORM 기반 학습 객체의 메타데이터 생성 및 컨텐츠 패키징)

  • This study develops the System(MetaGene) to create meta-data for learning object based on SCORM including meta-data of Assets. SCO, Contents Aggregation and metadata of Contents Package. API function cocle is embeded in Learning Object for interfacing API adopter in LMS to support SCORM and for tracking on learning process based on data models. Also, the learning objects are packaged the PIF(Packaged Interchange File) to transmit with LMS. MetaGene is verified by $SCORM^{(TM)}$ Conformance TestSuite for meta-data of learning objects, manifest file of Contents Packaging.

  • In this paper, we propose an e-Learning process control model that aims to graphically describe and automatically generate the manifest of sequencing prerequisites in packaging SCORM's content aggregation models. In specifying the e-Learning activity sequencing, SCORM provides the concept of sequencing prerequisites to be manifested on each e-Learning activity of the corresponding tree-structured content organization model. However, the course developer is required to completely understand the SCORM's complicated sequencing prerequisites and other extensions. So, it is necessary to achieve an efficient way of packaging for the e-Learning content organization models. The e-Learning process control model proposed in this paper ought to be an impeccable solution for this problem. Consequently, this paper aims to realize a new concept of process-driven e-Learning content aggregating approach supporting the e-Learning process control model and to implement its e-Learning process modeling system graphically describing and automatically generating the SCORM's sequencing prerequisites. Eventually, the proposed model becomes a theoretical basis for implementing a SCORM-based e-Learning process management system satisfying the SCORM's sequencing prerequisite specifications. We strongly believe that the e-Learning process control model and its modeling system achieve convenient packaging in SCORM's content organization models and in implementing an e-Learning management system as well.

  • 90년대 후반부터 웹 기반 수업(Web-based instruction)이라 하여 인터넷을 이용한 새로운 교육방법이 시도되기 시작하여 현재는 IEEE, AICC, IMS 등의 여러 e-Learning 표준안에 종합적으로 수렴하는 형태인 SCORM을 ADL에서 발표하면서 SCORM을 기준으로 다양한 컨텐츠들이 개발되고 있다. 이런 컨텐츠들은 기술적인 면에 있어서 방대한 정보들을 다루고 있지만 e-Learning 표준안인 SCORM에 따랐는지 (SCORM 표준안에 맞게 설계가 되었는지)를 확인해 볼 필요가 있기 때문에 ADL에서 SCORM conformance를 체크하기 위한 test suite를 제안하였다. 이 test suite는 사용자가 컨텐츠를 생성할 때 필요한 중요한 정보들을 구조화하여 사용자로 하여금 편리성을 느끼도록 하였지만 다른 세부적인 문제들이 표출되고 있어 본 논문에서는 이를 개선하기 위한 제안을 하고자 한다.

  • In this study, the survey from nationwide universities, e-learning service companies, and students who take e-learning courses was proof-analyzed. Sufficiency, variety, usability, accessability, and interaction with instructors were the criteria for analyzing the effectiveness of e-learning education. For this, the factors about effectiveness of e-learning education between the SCORM contents users group and normal contents users group were compared and analyzed. The differences between those two groups were appeared.

  • 현재 SCORM 콘텐츠를 제공하는 대부분의 시스템은 콘텐츠에서 사용하는 데이터가 교육목표를 가지는 콘텐츠 패키지에 함께 포함되어 있다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 콘텐츠에서 사용하는 이미지를 공유할 수 있는 SCORM 기반 이미지 콘텐츠 웹 서버를 제안한다. 제안한 웹 서버는 이미지 저장과 메타 데이터 생성, 이미지 검색, 이미지 프로세스의 기능을 가진다.

  • Currently many companies and cyber-universities are investing large amount of time and efforts to develop a standard for Web-based learning contents. Among various standards proposed, SCORM(Sharable Content Object Reference Model) has been especially interested regarding web contents and LCMS(Learning Content Management System), In contrast with corporate and adult education, many seem to be skeptical that SCORM could be applied to K-12 education. In the study, opportunities and limitations of the concept for the learning object in 'SCORM' are examined through analyzing relevant studies and cases. In addition, this study examines the learning object in the pedagogical Perspective, and derives suggestions for applying them to K-12 education.

  • Many e-learning systems adopts SCORM as an e-learning standard. E-learning systems evaluate and apply the learning difficulty in order to improve the studying efficiency. But, it is hard to change the learning difficulty and provide the customized learning contents during studying in SCORM. Because it is difficult to provide the customized contents to learners by changing the learners' level at runtime and to control optional learning. In this paper, we designed and implemented SCORM-based Contents Organization System on learners' level(SCOS) for complementing the SCORM's weakness. SCOS re-evaluates a learner's level whenever the learner's level is changed during learning, and provides customized contents on the learner's level.

  • e-Learning분야에서 표준안으로 인정받고 있는 ADL의 SCORM에서 발표한 SCORM2004 Sequencing&Navigation은 동일한 학습객체를 사용하여 학습객체간의 다양한 상호관계를 설계, 적용할 수 있게 하였다. 그리고, 학습자와 학습객체와의 개별 상호작용을 추적, 평가하여 학습흐름을 안내함으로써 개별 적응적 조언 학습의 가능성을 보여주었다. 본 논문에서는 SCORM1.2기반의 LMS에 SCORM2004 S&N과 적응적 탐색을 지원하는 교통신호메타포를 구현하고 실제적으로 적용하고자 한다. 이로써, 학습설계에 따라 정해진 학습객체 상호간의 S&N규칙이 개별 학습자의 학습상태와 평가에 의해 다른 순서로 전달하거나 생략되어지고, 학습상태를 시각적으로 제공함으로써 적응적 조언 학습 설계에 대한 가능성을 실현할 수 있었다.

  • Recently, the application of E-learning is changing the method that is able to process the learning to learner more efficiently and conveniently. For this purpose, the application research of U-learning that is able to support the learning using mobile device such as PDA, NetBook, Tablet PC and so on is actively processing. But lots of U-learning framework is only considering the change to fit the exist learning contents the mobile device without SCORM that is able to support to make and process the learning contents by regular forms. In this paper, we proposed the learning contents interconnection of U-learning framework considering SCORM. For this purpose, we have to construct the learning by learning object and asset within SCORM. And this method can support learning information that was reconstructed it by learning contents to fit the mobile device as used the mobile device meta-data.

  • In the area of e-learning education, SCORM2004 that is suggested by ADL and is a defacto standard allows to design and apply various interrelations among learning objects which organize learning process through consolidating IMS Simple Sequencing into S&N. In this paper, we intend to realize a web_based adaptive learning management that enable to guide experientially the learning activity through the SCORM 2004 S&N and the Traffic-Signal-Lamp Metaphor. This adaptive system allows professor to design the learning courseware realizing various learning strategies to be able to reuse same learning contents and student to be leaded a adaptive learning through being supplied immediately the state and evaluation of learning.
