Objective : This study is to report the effect of Scolopendrid Herbal Acupuncture on a patient suffering from the pain of Hip Adductors after operation for hip fracture. Methods : First we had treated the patient with the pain of Hip Adductors by acupuncture and herb medication(活絡湯), but we did't get remarkable improvement in condition of patient. So we added to treat his pain site with Scolopendrid Herbal Acupuncture. And then we evaluated his pain by VAS(Visual Analog Scale). Results : 1. Scolopendrid Herbal Acupuncture had a very excellent effect on relieving pain and inflammation of Hip Adductors after operation for hip fracture. 2. It appears that Scolopendrid Herbal Acupuncture is very effective against Trigger Point of muscle and pain site fixed.

Objective : This study was designed to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of Scolopendrid Herbal-Acupuncture. Methods : Scolopendrid Herbal-Acupuncture was administered one time on everyday and A-shi points were selected. Except Scolopendrid Herbal-Acupuncture administration, other therapies(conventional body acupuncture, physical therapy and so on) were not performed at all. We evaluated the patient through Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging(DITI). Results : After 2 or 3 times of treatment, the patient showed that clinical symptoms and VAS were lessened and there was a change of temperature in DITI. Conclusions : According to the results, Scolopendrid Herbal-Acupuncture may have anti-inflammatory effects. But further studies are required to prove the exact effect.

Objectives : This study is performed for the purpose of examining into the efficacy of the scolopendrid herbal acupucture which has been used among the Korean people for the Carpal tunnel syndrome. Methods : 40 carpal tunnel syndrome patients who visited Won-kwang University Hospital during the period from January 1998 to December 2004 were analysed for clinical manifestations. After we divided patients into two classes at random, we treated them with scolopendrid herbal acupucture or not. Treatment efficiency was monitored through VAS(Visual Analog Scale) and clinical symptom. Conclusion : We brought to the conclusion that the scolopendrid herbal acupucture has possibility to be efficient to cure the carpal tunnel syndrome patients. So we suggest the possibility to use this new remedy for the carpal tunnel syndrome.

Objective : This study is performed for the purpose of examining into the efficacy of the scolopendrid(Scolopendra morsitans L) which has been used among the Korean people for the H.I.V.D of lumbar spine. Methods & Results : Using the herbal acupuncture made of scolopendrid(Scolopendra morsitans L), we treated the 20 H.I.V.D patients for 1 week and operated 4 pre and post treatment test ; D.I.T.I, 6 kinds of physical test, Oswestry disability index, and self-conscious pain rate. Trough the test, we saw 43-95% of efficacy rate in each test. And all of the 7 acupuncture point in D.I.T.I, Oswestry disability index and self-conscious pain rate test showed statistically valuable change. Conclusion : We brought to the conclusion that the scolopendrid herbal acupuncture has possibility to be efficient to cure the H.I.V.D patients. So we suggest the possibility to use this new remedy for the H.I.V.D.

Objectives : We review a result of studies until the present and suggest the method of medical treatment for the clinical treatment of Scolopendrid Herbalacupuncture. Methods : We analysis the paper of the bibliographic studies, the experiment studies and the clinical studies from 2001 developed Scolopendrid Herbalacupuncture and grope for the course of studies. Results : 1. Scolopendrid Herbalacupuncture is proved the clinical safety by the aninmal and human tests. 2. The pharmacological action of Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans L. Koch is anti-convulsive action, analgesic action, lowering blood pressure, anti-inflammatory action, anti-tumor action and microbe inhibition 3. Scolopendrid Herbalacupuncture has been a fine effect to the entrapment neuropathy and inflammatory. 4. Scolopendrid Herbalacupuncture was thought effective on a acute phase and to the excessive symptoms. The Sub-chronic toxicity experiment observing the response after hypodermic medication over 90 days, The Genetic-mutagenic toxity experiment and the clinical effect studies are necessary.

Objective : This study is perfonned for the purpose of examining the efficacy of the scolopendrid (Scolopendra morsitans L.) which has been used to low back pain as a folk remedy. Methods & Results : Seventy patients with H.I.V.D. treated with the scolopendrid aquacupuncture and examined 4 tests; D.I.T.L., physical test, Oswestry disability index, and self-conscious pain rate were studied. There was $50{\sim}100\%$ of efficacy rate in each tests. Moreover, statistically valuable change in 5 to 7 D.I.T.I. points and in self-conscious pain rate was showed. Conclusion : The scolopendrid aquacupuncture is possible to be effective treating the H.I.V.D patients. So we suggest the possibility using this new remedy to the H.I.V.D. patients.

Objective This study was investigated on the Scolopendrid Pharmacopuncture of Caude equina syndrome which has been described as a complex of low back pain, bilateral sciatica, saddle anesthesia and motor weakness in the lower extremity that progress to paraplegia with baldder and bowel incontinence. Methods & Results Clinical observation was done on Cauda equina syndrome in the Department of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, Woosuk jeonju Oriental Medical Hospital frome May 30 to July 13. The patient was treated with Scolopendrid Pharmacopuncture at Shinsu(B23), Gihaesu(B24), Taejangsu(B25), Gwanweonsu(b26), Dangryo(b31), Charyo(b32), Jang-gang(gv1) and Hoe-eum(cv1) with Oriental Medicine treatment. We evaluated SF-36, the bladder incontinence, bowel incontinence, sensibility by sting skin, before and after treatmeat. Conclusion 1. At the early time, gait disturbance was treated well, but discomfort of bladder incontinence, bilateral sciatica, saddle anesthesia and motor weakness was remained. 2. The symptoms of Cauada equina syndrome, especially bladder incontinence and bilateral sciatica, was recurred in short duration by scolopendrid Pharmacopuncture and oriental medicine treatment.
