The conveyance of health information through mass media is becoming more popular, even through recreation at television programs. This study aims to investigate the influence of health related TV programs for recreation on a practice action of health behavior. In particular, the relationship between attitude, belief, and behavioral practice of the TV audience is explored. Data was collected from 200 respondents for two weeks in May, 2002. The results showed that the motive of the TV audience for watching TV recreation programs was either entertainment or fun. They satisfied with the programs in general. However, the rate of desirable health behavior practice after watching those programs was low. The degree of practice was significantly correlated with belief, satisfaction, and application possibility of the TV audience to the program. In addition, two personal factors such as gender and subjective evaluation of personal health status were significant in influencing health behavior. The appearance of experts on programs was the most important factor influencing the belief of an audience. This implies that audiences want to have the health information fulfilling scientific evidences. It is suggested that TV recreation programs would be beneficial to most audience members for in receiving important health information, only if recreation and interest factors in the program as well as the evidence-based health information and knowledge are successfully combined.
Gun-Ho Song had been selected as 'the most respected person' in a survey targeting journalists. While being a journalist, Gun-Ho Song had directly experienced that the press submitted to government suppression and became commercialized receiving government benefits. In 1975, when Dong-A Ilbo(Daily News) submitted to the government suppression and conducted a mass of discharge of journalists, he felt responsibility and left the newspaper company. After that, he criticized more sharply the media subordinated to the power and capital. The core of Gun Ho Song's thought of the press is that the media should be independent from the power and capital contributing to nationalism and democracy. Also, he insisted that journalists should equip with historical consciousness and social scientific knowledge beyond roles like skilled workers. His idea of the press is still valid in the current media situation showing that journalists become skilled workers and independence of the press is risky. Looking into his activity and idea of the press can help seek for the right attitude of journalists and right roles of the media in the change of media environment.
In this study, we used Virtual Reality (VR) materials on an introductory earth science course consisted of thirty six pre-service science teacher program students. Before and after class an instrument of Constructivist Learning Environment Survey (CLES) was administered. The main focus of the CLES was to evaluate how the classroom was prepared for student centered learning environment. The pre and post tests of student perceptions regarding their learning environment were compared in six domains: personal relevance, critical voice, shared control, student negotiation, scientific uncertainty, and attitude. Questionnaire regarding the general perception of the VR materials was administered as well. How future science teachers valued the use of VR materials in their classrooms was found from this study. Based on these results, we intend to contribute for a more complete understanding of the potential of VR materials in achieving better learner-centered classroom environment.
The aim of this study is to analyse of elements and structure of consciousness theory in the 1887 Psychology written by John Dewey, and to research its educational implications. Conclusions are as follows: Firstly, consciousness theory articulated in first edition of Dewey's Psychology was influenced by neo-Hegelian G. S. Hall, and then characteristics of its theory was metaphysical and idealistic. But after of researching the work of William James, his approach to consciousness changed surprisingly from idealistic to experimental. His experimental approach and scientific attitude to it influenced the formation and development of advanced theories in his epistemology, axiology and pedagogy. Secondly, the structure of consciousness expressed by Dewey has three forms such as knowledge, feeling and will(or volition). This forms are too dynamic and unitary. Dewey considered cognition, feeling, will to be integral functions of each self. The tripartite functions of self, moreover, are unified in will. In other word, will combines subjective feeling and objective knowledge as one self. Will regulates impulse because it powers some stimulus into activity of self. In this view point, his theory of consciousness differs from traditional theories about consciousness for emphasizing dynamic relations and functions. Thirdly, Dewey's theory of consciousness will give some important implications to educational field. It is necessary to fundamental arguments about conscious conditions of learners as a human. For it is impossible to establish some aim of learning, to organize meaningful contents of learning, and also to create some effective methods of learning without consideration of this conditions. And it is important to construct and organize the contents and methods of learning for widening and deepening of educational experiences. Then consciousness and experiences of learners interact each other, so then they will produce some meaningful results of learning in this process.
The purpose of this paper is to reflect on the basic conception and attitude of Aristotelian philosophy by observing the transmission of his writings. The attempt to understand Aristotelian philosophy as a consistent, uniform, and unique system seems to be a natural expectation in the face of the scientific position of this philosophy. But if one looks at the history of the transmission and the edition of his works, this expectation does not correctly understand the Aristotelian philosophy, but misunderstands it. From this problem-consciousness I examine the structural features of Aristotelian philosophy by drawing attention to the work of Andronicus of Rhodes, who was the first editor of the Corpus Aristotelicum around the 1st century BC. This study is related to the historical understanding of the transmission of the Aristotelian writings, and to the classical-philological view of the transmission of writings, and also to the broad and profound understanding of the whole philosophy of Aristotle. Finally, I conclude that it is best to understand the Aristotelian philosophy in the pluralistic perspective as Aristotle himself did.

As an emerging market with rapid economic growth, while being a key region of the K-culture expansion, Vietnam draws increasing scientific attention. This study focuses on the MZ generation, Vietnam's leading consumer group, revealing their consumption value structure. An online survey was used for data collection purposes, investigating 368 Vietnamese consumers between 18-37 years of age. Six value dimensions were derived as results of the present analysis: functional, emotional, social, ethical, self-expression, and autonomy-oriented value. Among them, functional value includes two sub-dimensions of utility and price, while emotional value entails three sub-dimensions, namely hedonism, novelty, and aesthetics. 'Self-expression value' and 'autonomy-oriented value', reflecting the characteristics of the MZ generation, who actively express themselves and respect proactive decision-making, are becoming important standards of the consumption attitude of young Vietnamese. Moreover, the pursuit of 'novelty' was derived as a factor reflecting emotional values, revealing an association between hedonic consumption, and seeking for newness and difference. Furthermore, the relationships between each consumption value dimension, respective demographic characteristics, and global consumption propensity were investigated. The present findings aim to provide insights into young Vietnamese consumers' attitudes and intend to serve as a foundation for future research.
George Canguilhem(1904-1995) is one of the rare French philosophers of the 20th century to develop an approach that was shaped by a medical education. For him, medicine is considered as "a technique or an art at the junction of many different sciences, rather than a proper science." The thesis that medicine is a technique is presented not at a practical level, but on an axiological horizon which reflects the totality of humanity. This character of medicine became a motive that concretized Canguilhem's philosophical thinking. Medical knowledge is not an application of physiology, but is derived from clinical observations which are based on the personal experiences of each patient. If medicine were based on scientific knowledge and its practice the very application of this pure knowledge, the patient might be a passive object. However, the patient doesn't remain passive, but reacts to the menace of disease according to attitude that the patient developed over the course of his or her life. Canguilhem characterizes this point as 'normativity', the core of individual life, which eludes positivist medicine. Here appear the essential contents of his vitalism. Although they emphasized the activity of individual living being, other modern French vitalists didn't consider this dimension of norms. Since the normativity in Canguilhem concerns the subjectivity of the first person, it avoids a mechanical form of explanation. Thus Canguilhem's originality is found in his derivation of the essence of medicine from individuality, values and norms.
Nature-mimetic architecture has been discussed for a long time in the West. There were differences in understanding nature, the pursuit of nature-mimetic and the characteristics of nature-mimetic architecture. It can be inferred that it was influenced by various happenings in each period. The purpose of this study is to acknowledge the characteristics of nature-mimetic architecture up from the past to the present, and to understand the difference through the timeline of historical events. First, the study inquires the characteristics of nature-mimetic architecture by timeline. Seek the perception and attitude, characteristics of nature-mimetic architecture and the value of it through cases of Ancient Greek, Medieval, Renaissance, Early Modern and Modern. Secondly, understand the important historical issues that influenced nature-mimetic architecture such as view of nature, social aspect, religion and scientific technology. Finally, discuss the relationship between nature-mimetic architecture and its historical background.
This study was intended to help children to cultivate and develop a sound attitude toward food consumption and eating habits through the analysis of food and nutritional information in news articles and advertisements in three major daily children's newspapers in Korea: The Chosen Children's Daily Newspaper, The Hankook Children's Daily Newspaper, and The Donga Children's Daily Newspaper. The monitoring period was for twelve months, January to December 2003. Two hundred seventy-nine articles and three hundred thirty-five advertisements were analyzed. The results were as follows. 'Cooking and health' were the most frequent subject in food and nutrition articles. The articles' contents are evaluated positively in morality and explanation; but negatively in fairness, specialization, and objectiveness. The articles were insufficient in the explanation of professional terms, scientific bases, and practical measures for real life. It therefore seems that they were difficult for children to understand well. The most frequent themes in the advertisements were 'processed fats and sugars' such as chocolate, candies, and cookies. Frequently, they were exaggerated and accompanied by phrases promoting consumption. They did not provide sufficient well-grounded information, and focused too much on events or gifts to instigate consumer sentiment. In conclusion, the most serious problem was that most food and nutrition information in these children's newspapers was lacking in specialization. More specialized and objective information should be provided in order to enhance the educational value of children's newspapers and their utilization in school education programs. Continuous monitoring should be carried out to discover those news articles and advertisements that contain correct food and nutrition information.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of integrated education research conducted in Korea and to propose a meaningful discussion for further research. Among the studies conducted for last three years, the relevant 161 research articles were selected, and 236 effect sizes were calculated. Effect sizes were analyzed with different dependant variables including creativity, problem solving ability, academic achievement, inquiry skills, creative personality, scientific attitude, and interests. In addition, effect sizes with different moderating variables, such as characteristics of subjects, sample sizes, class types, core disciplines and publication types, were compared. The results are as follows: The overall effect size of integrated education program produced a huge effect (effect size=0.88, U3=81.06%). Integrated education program showed the highest effect size on scientific attitude among other dependant variables. However, all of the other dependant variables represented more than medium size effect size. Integrated program proved to be more effective on kindergarten pupils and gifted students compared to other school levels and regular students. The effect size for group of less then thirty students were larger than other groups. Programs implemented in after school hours were more effective than in regular school hours. Considering the core subject of program, arts-centered integrated programs showed the largest effect size, while all the others showed above medium effect sizes. Finally, doctoral dissertation showed the highest effect size compared to master's thesis and academic journal articles. Conclusions and recommendations for further research were provided.
