  • This study investigates learners' environmental literacy, classifies the results by factors of environmental literacy, and then investigates the differences in the students' environmental behavior practice experiences according to the classification by factor. The study was conducted with 47 6th grade students from D elementary school located in P metropolitan city as the subject of final analysis, and environmental literacy questionnaires and environmental behavior practice experience questionnaires were used as the main data. As a result of the study, the learners were classified into three groups according to the factors of environmental literacy, and they were respectively named as the "High environmental literacy group", "low environmental literacy group", and "Low Function and Affectif group". A Word network was formed using the descriptions of environmental behavior practice experiences for each cluster, and a Degree Centrality Analysis was performed to visualize and then analyze. As a result of the analysis, "High environmental literacy group" was confirmed, 1) recognized the subjects of environmental action practice as individuals and families, 2) described his experience of environmental action practice in relation to all elements of environmental literacy, and had a relatively pessimistic view. "low environmental literacy group", and "Low Function and Affectif group" were confirmed 1) perceive the subject of environmental behavior practice as a relatively social problem, 2) the description of the experience of environmental behavior practice is relatively biased specific factors, and the "Low Function and Affectif group" is particularly focused on the knowledge element. And 3) it was confirmed that they were aware of climate change from a relatively optimistic perspective. Based on this conclusion, suggestions were made from the perspective of environmental education.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the level of functional health literacy and its influence on perceived health status in Korean older adults. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in Daegu, Kyungpook and Susan province. A total of 103 older adults aged 65 yr or older were interviewed in person between July 1 to August 30, 2007. Results: A high proportion of older adults were unable to read and understand written basic medical instructions. Only 40-50% were able to comprehend directions for taking medication four times a day or on an empty stomach. Only 11-38% were able to understand information regarding treatment procedure, informed consent, or educational material for elderly fall prevention. Individuals who were older, single, and had less education and income were more likely to have lower functional health literacy. After adjusting for sociodemographic variables, individuals with lower health literacy had poorly perceived health status. Conclusion: Many Korean older adults have a very low level of fuctional literacy. Low health literacy was independently associated with poorly perceived health status.

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of digital literacy, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use on Internet users' online purchase intention in Palestine, as well to examine the moderating effect of Internet users' socioeconomic characteristics - age and gender on the relationships between digital literacy and online purchase intention. An extended technology acceptance model (TAM) by including digital literacy was applied in this research. The study applied a quantitative method, where 400 respondents participated in a questionnaire. The collected data was tested against the research framework using the partial least squares (SEM-PLS) method. The findings indicate that digital literacy has a significant effect on perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and online purchase intention; there is a significant effect of perceived usefulness on online purchase intention, but not perceived ease of use. On the other hand, socioeconomic variables demonstrate that neither age nor gender moderates the relationship between digital literacy and online purchase intention; in short, age and gender do not condition the intention of the Internet user.

This research uses primary data sources on Creative MSMEs in Yogyakarta. The samples were determined by the proportional simple random sampling technique; taking a sample of 20% of the total Creative MSMEs in each district/city. The samples that deserve to be respondents in this study were 210 samples of Creative MSMEs actors in DIY. The statistical technique for analyzing data is the AMOS Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that financial literacy had an effect on the competitive advantage and performance of MSMEs, tax literacy had an effect on competitive advantage, competitive advantage had an effect on the performance of MSMEs. However, tax literacy has no effect on the performance of MSMEs.

  • Consumer innovativeness plays a vital role in explaining consumer dynamics, such as adoption, usage, and behavioral intention, in the new world of disruptive online media. This empirical study aimed to examine the importance of consumer innovativeness and digital literacy in the adoption and expansion of new technology-based media services, focusing on OTT services. Extending the theory of adoption of new technologies by innovators to new media environment centered on OTT services, it examines the influence of the four dimensions of motivated consumer innovativeness on OTT service usage. The Korea Media Panel Data of 2019, where overall ICT usage and media consumption of a broad panel of respondents was collected, was used for the analysis. From the data of 10,864 respondents, 4,031 (37.1%) were found to have experience in using OTT services. To clarify the mediating effect of digital literacy on the correlations between cognitive innovativeness of consumers and their use of OTT services, Process Macro Model 4 was used. The bootstrap method was applied to reveal that all four dimensions of consumer innovativeness have a significant indirect effect on new media usage through digital literacy, thus indicating how digital literacy plays an important role in the spread of new digital services in addition to consumer innovativeness. The findings are important in that they can help in the efforts to introduce new technologies to the public and educate them to improve their digital literacy so that they can enjoy the complete experience of using these new digital products.

  • There have been many discussions about scientific literacy (SL), which caused many science educators concern for many years. This paper focuses on three aspects about SL. First, there are various opinions, and components or types of SL. Second, it has been pointed out that the reconciliation between curriculum focusing on SL and curriculum focusing on scientific knowledge system is difficult. Third, the level of SL of citizens who learned science in schools is not so high. Related to these aspects, this paper suggests three recommendations. First, the paper suggests three dimensional model of SL and some examples of its application. Second, elementary and middle school focus on SL in their science curriculum and high school focuses on scientific knowledge system in the curriculum for preparing for future jobs. Third, we need to give efforts to lifelong science eduction for citizens' SL as well as school teachings for SL. In the conclusion section, it is described what aspects should be additionally considered for the discussions and recommendations about three aspects of SL.

  • Factors and causal structures of pre-service elementary teachers about the critical thinking and the scientific literacy competency were investigated in this study. The third grade university students and the first grade university students in the metropolitan city participated in this study. The factor analysis method and the structural equation modeling method were used for the data analysis, and the following results were obtained. First, the third grade university students and the first grade university students recognized 'inquisitive thinking' factor and 'reflective thinking' factor as factors of the critical thinking, and 'scientific explanation' factor and 'evidence-based conclusion' factor as factors of the scientific literacy competency respectively. Second, the third grade university students showed more the influence from 'reflective thinking' factor to 'scientific explanation' factor and from 'reflective thinking' factor to 'evidence-based conclusion' factor than the first grade university students.
