Football match intelligent editing system based on deep learning

  • Football (soccer) is one of the most popular sports in the world. A huge number of people watch live football matches by TV or Internet. A football match takes 90 minutes, but viewers may only want to watch a few highlights to save their time. As far as we know, there is no such a product that can be put into use to achieve intelligent highlight extraction from live football matches. In this paper, we propose an intelligent editing system for live football matches. Our system can automatically extract a series of highlights, such as goal, shoot, corner kick, red yellow card and the appearance of star players, from the live stream of a football match. Our system has been integrated into live streaming platforms during the 2018 FIFA World Cup and performed fairly well.

  • In a Satellite communication system, a link budget analysis is the detailed investigation of signal gains and losses moving through a channel from a sender to receiver. It inspects the fading of passed on data signal waves due to the process of spreading or propagation, including transmitter and receiver antenna gains, feeder cables, and related losses. The extent of the proposed tool is to make an effective, efficient, and user-friendly approach to calculate link budget analysis. It is also related to the satellite communication correlation framework by building up a graphical interface link analysis tool utilizing STK® software with the interface of C# programming. It provides better kinds of graphical display techniques, exporting and importing data files, printing link information, access data, azimuth-elevation-range (AER), and simulation is also possible at once. The components of the link budget analysis tool include transmitter gain, effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP), free space loss, propagation loss, frequency Doppler shift, flux density, link margin, elevation plot, etc. This tool can be useful for amateur users (e.g., CubeSat developers in the universities) or nanosat developers who may not know about the RF communication system of the satellite and the orbital mechanics (e.g., orbit propagators) principle used in the satellite link analysis.

Computation and Communication Efficient Key Distribution Protocol for Secure Multicast Communication

  • Secure multimedia multicast applications involve group communications where group membership requires secured dynamic key generation and updating operations. Such operations usually consume high computation time and therefore designing a key distribution protocol with reduced computation time is necessary for multicast applications. In this paper, we propose a new key distribution protocol that focuses on two aspects. The first one aims at the reduction of computation complexity by performing lesser numbers of multiplication operations using a ternary-tree approach during key updating. Moreover, it aims to optimize the number of multiplication operations by using the existing Karatsuba divide and conquer approach for fast multiplication. The second aspect aims at reducing the amount of information communicated to the group members during the update operations in the key content. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated based on computation and communication complexity and a comparative performance analysis of various key distribution protocols is provided. Moreover, it has been observed that the proposed algorithm reduces the computation and communication time significantly.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the interrelationships between the customers' perception of verbal and nonverbal communication, customers' trust and satisfaction in the family restaurant. Based on a total of 310 samples that were obtained from empirical research, this study reviewed the reliability and fitness of the research model and verified a total of 2 hypotheses using the Amos program. The hypothesized relationships in the model were tested simultaneously using a structural equation model(SEM). The proposed model provided an adequate fit to the data, $X^2$=953.126(df=417), p<.001, CMIN/df 2.286, GFI .831, NFI .889, IFI .934, TLI .926, CFI .934. The results showed that employees' verbal communication ($\beta$=.264), paralanguage ($\beta$=.172) and physical appearance ($\beta$=.120) among the nonverbal communications had a significant positive effect on the customers' trust. In addition, the customers' trust ($\beta$=.644) had a significant positive effect on the customer satisfaction. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.

Topic Analysis of Scholarly Communication Research

  • This study aims to identify specific topics, trends, and structural characteristics of scholarly communication research, based on 1,435 articles published from 1970 to 2018 in the Scopus database through Latent Dirichlet Allocation topic modeling, serial analysis, and network analysis. Topic modeling, time series analysis, and network analysis were used to analyze specific topics, trends, and structures, respectively. The results were summarized into three sets as follows. First, the specific topics of scholarly communication research were nineteen in number, including research resource management and research data, and their research proportion is even. Second, as a result of the time series analysis, there are three upward trending topics: Topic 6: Open Access Publishing, Topic 7: Green Open Access, Topic 19: Informal Communication, and two downward trending topics: Topic 11: Researcher Network and Topic 12: Electronic Journal. Third, the network analysis results indicated that high mean profile association topics were related to the institution, and topics with high triangle betweenness centrality, such as Topic 14: Research Resource Management, shared the citation context. Also, through cluster analysis using parallel nearest neighbor clustering, six clusters connected with different concepts were identified.

새로운 산림커뮤니케이션 접근방법의 모색과 미디어별 효과 차이: 정교화 가능성 모델의 적용 (A New Approach to Communication Method in Forest Science and Media Type Effects: An Application of Elaboration Likelihood Model)

  • 본 연구는 커뮤니케이션 분야에서 보편적으로 사용되고 있는 정교화 가능성 모델이 산림분야에서도 적용 가능한지와 미디어간 커뮤니케이션 효과 차이를 검증하고자 하였다. 이 모델이 제시하고 있는 주요 변수인 동기변수(관여도, 인지욕구 및 감성욕구)와 능력변수(사전 지식)가 태토변화에 미치는 영향력을 회귀분석으로 검토한 결과, 대부분의 독립변수들은 유의성이 높아 산림분야도 이 모델을 적용할 수 있다는 것이 확인되었다. 미디어 효과는 TV, 인터넷 및 신문으로 동일한 메시지를 전달한 후, 미디어별 설득력과 회상의 차이로써 검증하였다. 분산분석 결과, TV가 신문보다 설득력이 있었지만 TV와 인터넷 간에는 차이가 없었다. 회상의 경우에는 인터넷과 TV가 신문보다 효과적이었다.

사회연결망법을 이용한 과학영재들의 의사소통 구조 분석 (A Communication Structure of Science Gifted Students Based on the Social Network Analysis)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 소집단 활동에서 과학영재들의 의사소통 구조를 찾아보고, 이들의 의사소통 유형과 성취 수준의 관계를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 이를 위하여 과학영재들을 대상으로 5명을 한 단위로 하는 8개 소집단을 구성하고, 이들에게 지구의 밀도 구하기라는 주제로 토론식 수업을 적용하였다. Pajek과 UCINET 6.0을 활용하여 과학영재들의 대화로부터 의사소통 구조와 성취 수준을 분석하였다. 그 결과 상호작용 분산 정도에 따라 과학영재들의 의사소통 유형을 독점형과 공유형으로 분류할 수 있었다. 그리고 상호작용 밀도와 집중도에 따라 과학영재들의 의사소통 유형을 $D_H{\cdot}N_H$형, $D_H{\cdot}N_L$형, $D_L{\cdot}N_H$형, $D_L{\cdot}N_L$형으로 분류할 수 있었다. 과학영재들의 소집단 활동에서 문제 해결 성취 수준은 구성원 간 상호작용의 분산이 아니라 상호작용의 밀도와 연결망 집중도의 차에 의해 영향을 받는다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로 교사들은 소집단 활동을 활용하여 학생들을 지도할 때 문제 해결에 관련된 의사소통이 이루어지도록 지도할 필요가 있다.

선박 내 효과적인 콘텐츠 분배를 위한 다중 단말 간 직접통신 (Multi-Device-to-Multi-Device Communication for Efficient Contents Distribution on Board the Ship)

  • 최근 몇 년 간 스마트 폰과 같은 개인 스마트 디바이스들의 확산으로 인해 인터넷 트래픽이 급증하고 있다. 이는 지상에 있는 기지국뿐만 아니라 건물, 버스, 철도, 선박 등에 설치된 AP(Access Point)나 기지국에도 심각한 과부하를 야기한다. 따라서 이를 해소하기 위해 크루즈선과 같은 선박 내부에서 효과적인 콘텐츠 분배를 위한 통신시나리오를 제안한다. 또한 제안한 시나리오 안에서 기존의 단말 간 직접통신(D2D: Device-to-Device)을 확장하여 다중 단말 간(MD2MD: Multi-Device-to-Multi-Device) 직접 통신 네트워크를 구성하고 이에 적합한 전송기법을 제시한다. 제안한 선박 내 다중 단말 간 직접통신 방식은 STBC(Space-Time Block Coding) 전송기법, SM(Spatial Multiplexing) 전송기법, 그리고 하이브리드 STBC-SM 기법을 비교분석하여 전송률(throughput) 관점에서 향상된 성능을 보인 전송기법을 채택했다. 제안한 방식은 선박 내 통신 특히 사용자의 수가 많아 트래픽이 심하여 선박 내 설치된 AP의 과부하가 심할 경우 이를 분배하고 사용자들에게 효율적으로 보다 질 높은 콘텐츠를 제공할 수 있는 기술로 기대된다.

전공의와 간호사.의료기사간의 인간관계 갈등과 의사소통에 관한 연구 (Interpersonal Conflicts and Communication among Medical Residents, Nurses and Technologists)

  • Through investigating communication contents, extent of conflict, and its causes between medical residents and nurses/technicians, this study will provide the effective communication skills to ease interpersonal conflicts and maintain healthy partner relationships. This is a descriptive study to find out the communication contents, extent of conflicts and its causes between medical residents and nurses/technicians. Data were collected from April $1^{st}$, 2004 to April $8^{th}$, 2004 from 118 medical residents, 288 nurses, 85 radiology technicians and 107 laboratory technicians in 4 university hospitals in Seoul capital region. Data analysis was done with SPSS version 11.0 using descriptive statistics, ANOVA and chi-test. Interpersonal conflict towards medical residents were rated higher by nurses than technicians (Nurses > Technologists = Medical residents). Causes of conflict showed regional differences. In communication contents, all regions showed "Thank you" and "Well done" as most pleasant comments. Medical residents proved other medical residents' negative comments as most unpleasant and nurses and technicians proved residents' commanding phrases, disrespectful speech, and urging comments to be most unpleasant. Communication between the center members of the medical organization is very important in treating patients and understanding each other. For smooth conflict resolutions and maintaining healthy partner relationships, continued education and support for appropriate communication and interpersonal relationship skills is needed.
