This paper investigates the impact of the School Library Revitalization Project of the Daegu Metropolitan City. The Project started in 2003, and by 2009 it revitalized 374 school libraries or 86% of all school libraries in Daegu. Utilizing statistical analysis and questionnaires, this research is divided into two parts. Part 1 analyzes the progress of annual budgets, facilities, collection, personnel, and the circulation data of the libraries. The other part surveys the following: the effects and the satisfaction level of the Project; the teacher's perception of the library's functions; the qualification of the libraries' personnel; the initiatives for developing the library, policy and future plans of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education for the libraries. Three groups participated in the survey: principals, class teachers, and teacher librarians.

Recently, the Ministry of Education is striving to move education and school libraries toward the information age and to create an atmosphere open education. School libraries need to be furnished with lots of useful materials for the curriculum of open education. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. Nonprofit organizations such as school libraries should adopt the concepts and techniques of marketing to solve the problems for the rational management of the system. 2. Marketing techniques can be adopted in the areas such as collection development, service fee, selection of the place of library, advertising, better library user organization etc. 3. School libraries should be total educational information centers to realize educational goal and the curricular. 4. Procedures for marketing strategies for school libraries are embodied in mission statement, environmental analysis, marketing audit, marketing mix, marketing segmentation, evaluation methods etc. 5. The 4 "Ps", product, price, place, promotion make up the marketing mix for school libraries.libraries.

KSLA(Korea School Library Association) is a representative professional association related to school libraries and teacher librarians in Korea. This study tried to propose the strategic plan of KSLA. To do this, major works of KSLA are defined after analyzing current issues of school libraries and the internal environment. Among them, 12 works are selected as strategic works. The survey was carried out to decide which works are regarded as more important or less. After all, this study proposed the strategic plan for 4 works, which are the revision of school libraries promotion law, the revision of elementary and secondary education law, the investigation of teacher librarians' grievance cases and the collection of outstanding educational cases in school libraries.

The Purpose of the study is to analyze present state of the volunteers activities in Korean libraries and for reinforcing Library volunteer activity. 180,000 people were asked questionaires for the purpose looking into present state. the analysed places of the subject are public library and school library where most of volunteers work. this research is greatly meant due to the collection of broad investigation through the public library and school library in Korea. A questionnaire made to twice and the results were shown in four parts which are the aspects of the participant, the volunteers' duty, the management of the volunteers(training and recruitment), and about cultural program volunteers.

Digital Library System(DLS) for the school library is a key access tool for school library materials. The purpose of this study was to find ways to improve the accessibility of materials through analysis of students' information search behavior in DLS. Data were collected through recording of 42 participants' DLS search process, and questionnaire. As a result, the search success rate and search satisfaction were found to be lower when the main purpose of DLS is simple leisure reading, information needs are relatively ambiguous, and when user experiences the complicated situations in the search process. The satisfaction level of search time sufficiency was the highest, and the search result satisfaction was the lowest. Besides, there was a need to improve DLS, such as integrated search of other library collection information, the recommendation of related materials, the print output of collection location, voice recognition through mobile apps, and automatic correction of search errors. Through this, the following can be suggested. First, DLS should complement the function of providing career information by reflecting the demand of education consumers. Second, improvements to DLS functionality to the general information retrieval system level must be made. Third, an infrastructure must be established for close cooperation between school library field personnel and DLS management authorities.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the political and functional requirements of the regional library portal and to evaluate such requirements. A literature review was carried out to discuss library portal, and introduce the best practices of the regional library portal. After analyzing the political and functional requirements of the regional library portal, AHP was applied to evaluate requirements. In the political requirements, standards, digital collection development, operation and evaluation were ranked according to importance, and copyright & licence management which belongs to digital collection development was underrated. There were differences in the importance among the functional requirements of the regional library portal, integrated search, integrated interface, information service, separated digital collection management and access management were ranked according to importance.

The purpose of this research is to identify critical factors for facilitating school library reading programs and to develop guidelines for school library development. For this. relevant studies including several school library case studies were reviewed and analyzed. Also a survey was conducted for school library personnel. The survey findings showed that there was still lack of consensus on defining school library reading programs or school library use programs. Moreover, it is also found that in most cases school libraries neither have professional school librarians nor provide appropriate training to them. As a result it is recommended that for developing effective reading programs, school libraries need to fix the current problems and try to develop collection development plans for supporting reading programs, in cooperation with classroom teachers to develop library reading programs as a part of the curriculum. and ultimately with local public libraries.

This research aims to suggest the way of activation of book curation in secondary school libraries by analyzing examples of book curation and the recognition of the persons in charge of secondary school libraries. A documentary research and a survey is conducted. 192 school librarians are chosen for that survey in Incheon region secondary school. 4 teacher librarians of Incheon region secondary school and a professor of library and information science are interviewed. Also an investigation is executed by visiting school libraries. Augmentation of the persons in charge of secondary school libraries, coordinating and information sharing with educational teachers, establishment of manual for book curation operation, publishing examples of subject selection are suggested for the measure of activation of book curation.

The purpose of this study is to develop an evaluation indicator of institutional repositories to be used by participating university libraries of dCollection. Based on the literature reviews of digital library evaluation, core evaluation measures and criteria were identified. In order to verify the applicability and appropriateness of those evaluation criteria for institutional repositories, two methods were employed: A case study with sixteen university libraries and a Delphi study with twenty university libraries. The results of both studies led the development of an evaluation model which consisted of four evaluation dimensions and 29 criteria. This evaluation model should be utilized as tools for objective assessment and guidelines for improving institutional repository services by universities libraries in which the dCollection is currently Implemented or the future plan of the dCollection is underway.
