간호사의 공감피로에 관한 국내연구동향 (Research Trends on Compassion Fatigue in Korea Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study were to analyze the research trends of compassion fatigue in Korea nurses and to suggest future research directions. Methods: For this study, RISS, KISTI, KISS, National Assembly Library databases were searched using the key words 'compassion fatigue', 'secondary traumatic stress', 'professional quality of life' that contains compassion fatigue as a sub-element, and 'nurses' for this study. A total of 124 articles published in June 2014 were searched and analyzed 19 articles for the final analysis. Results: The most frequently used study design was descriptive (N=17, 89.5%). High compassion fatigue was reported in this study. Factors affecting compassion fatigue were personal factors (e.g., age, health state, and sleep hours), work-related factors (e.g., experience with traumatized patients), and psychological factors (e.g., job stress, anxiety, excessive empathy, social support, and coping strategy). Finally, Consequence factors of compassion fatigue was reported burnout, silencing response and turnover intention. Conclusion: There was a few studies on compassion fatigue. Further research on compassion fatigue needs to use a variety of study designs instruments suitable for Korean nurses, and to develop management programs on compassion fatigue in nurses.

교대 여부에 따른 기혼간호사의 역할갈등과 직무만족도 (A Comparative Analysis on the Married Nurses' Role Conflict and Job Satisfaction in Accordance with Shift Work)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of shift work on married nurses' role conflict and job satisfaction. Method: Study subjects consisted of married nurses employed at four general hospitals with over 500 beds located in Seoul and Kyunggi area. The data were collected from March 15th to April 7th, 2004 using the survey and the subjects were asked to reply through self-administrative method. Results: Mean value of role conflict of nurses who worked shift work was measured 3.12 out of 5, and that of nurses who did not was measured 2.98. Mean value of job satisfaction of nurses who worked shift work was measured 2.79 out of 5, and that of nurses who did not was measured 2.86. There was a significant reverse correlation between mean level of role conflict and of job satisfaction. Both groups, nurses who worked shift work and nurses who did not, showed significant reverse-correlation in two areas. In the case of nurses who worked shift work, role conflict not showed a significant correlation. Job satisfaction showed a significant correlation with the plan to work as a nurse and remuneration in the case of nurses who worked shift work. Duty of supporting family was the factor affecting role conflict and measured 4.2% in the case of nurses who worked shift work, and the plan to work as a nurse and the academic background in the case of nurses who did not work shift work. Conclusion: To reduce role conflict and to improve the degree of job satisfaction, there should be taken a measure to improve a financial compensating system for working shift work for nurses who worked shift work, and to help nurses not working shift work to design plans for their job as nurses with stability.

학생체질검사제도에 대한 인식과 개선방안 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Physical Examination for Students)

  • Recent domestic findings indicate steep increase of geriatric diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure among children and adolescents. It is, therefore, necessary to establish a new system for constitution inspection that reflects domestic adolescents' health conditions by the introduction of feasible items and systematic methods in the inspect ion. The objective of this study is to grasp the problems and to present proper ways of improving the system. As the method of the research during the period from September 2001 to March 2002 we refer to the domestic and foreign literature, and ask the advice of the specialists in pediatrics, family medicine, endocrine, cardiology. As on-site research we us e survey of nationwide elementary, middle, and high schools, visit representative local schools and have an interview with school nurses. Through the interview we try to find practical problems of school heath care and find proper method of students physic al examination. The abstract of the problems of student examination system is as following. To the question about the extent of the result of physical examination 46. 46.4%(school doctor) and 42.6%(parents and students) of the respondents answered "don't know". It means neglectfulness about examination itself. 62% of the school nurses responded "unsatisfactory" people who take charge of practical affairs have complaint about pre sent examination method. Because of the short time of the examination, and numerous students, the examination was incomplete. Several questions, method of physical examination, content of physical examination and list of physical examination, were raised. Reform measures for physical examination system of students were presented by physician, school nurses, students and parents of student.

보험심사 전문 간호사의 직무표준 개발 (The Development Job Standards for Advanced Health Insurance Review Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study is to develop job standards in order to propose proper job level of the advanced nurse practitioners and apply the results to the work and enhance the expertism. Method: This study is a methodical study. The validity was examined by using the content validity index(CVI). Result: The pre-items of job standards for advanced health insurance review nurses were established and the final job standards comprising of 12 standards, 46 criteria, 92 indicators, 418 activities were determined after the examination by the advisory group. The validity of the job standards were examined for two times by the seven professionals. The relevance of the modified job standards was examined by the working level employees above the assistant manager position working in the general hospitals and the result was 93.14% relevance. The job standards comprising of 12 standards, 46 criteria, 89 indicator and 409 activities were developed. Conclusions: By the development of the job standards, it is expected to prove that advanced health insurance review nurses are the most suitable professionals for dealing with medical affairs such as management and propriety evaluation of medical expenses while defining the roles of advanced health insurance review nurses.

병원 간호사의 연속 야간 교대근무와 근무시간이 불면증에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Consecutive Night-Shift Work and Working Time on Insomnia among Hospital Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the influence of consecutive night-shift work and working time on insomnia among hospital nurses. Methods: A descriptive correlational research designutilizing secondary data analysis was adopted. Data on consecutive night-shift work, working time, and insomnia were collected from 64 hospital nurses using a Fitbit activity tracker and questionnaires, and analyzed using hierarchical logistic regression. Results: Consecutive night-shift work for more than three days had a significant influence on insomnia among hospital nurses. Weekly working hours also accounted significantly for the variance in insomnia, exceeding the influence of consecutive night-shift work. Conclusion: Development and implementation of proper schedules to control consecutive night-shift work and working time is important to alleviate insomnia among hospital nurses.

경남지역 일부 산업간호사의 업무수행에 관한 연구 (Study on activities of some occupational health nurses in Kyungnam area)

  • Authors purposed to observe activities of occupational health nurses and it's related factors, and to suggest the way that induct better occupational health nurses' activities with questionaire to 87 occupational health nurses who individually work as health manager in the plant. The questionaire included type of plant and number of workers, general characteristics, work conditions, activities, etc. Major findings are as follows. 1. 82.8% of occupational health nurses were third decade. 93.1% graduated junior college or college. And 82.8% were not married. 2. General work conditions: 40.2% were belonged to safety-health section, 98.85% were mere clerks. 60.9% worked less than weekly 44 hours, and an annual salary of 50.6 % was between 10 million and 14 million won. 3. Work condition related to health manager work: there was separated health care room in 94.3%, working period as health manager(occupational health nurse) was less than 5 years in 70.1%, 49.4% had the out-of-health manager work. In 87.4%, occupational physician was appointed, only 6.9% of them were full time, 52.9% of them worked little in the plants. The problems related to workers' health were discussed with industrial nurses in 88.5%. 4. Attitude for their work: 88.5% were thought that their work is important for workers' health care, 57.5% satisfied to work as health manager. In 51.7%, motive to being industrial nurse were the appropriate aptitude. 5. Activities: General medical care in 100% were carried out, in 97.7% works related to general health examination, in 100% works related to special health examination were carried. But works related to use of protective apparatus were carried out in 20.8%. 6. Factors related to level of activities: In cases who solved the health related problems by themselves, the level of activites was significantly higher than in others. In cases there were full time occupational physician, the level of activities was significantly lower. 7. Occupational health nurse's needs: 100% wanted regular education, 89.7% wanted the qualifying examination. As the results, author suggests that the right of self-control is given to occupational health nurses and the work of occupational physician is clearly defined for the induction of the better activities of occupational health nurses.

한국 간호사 스트레스 중재 프로그램 동향 (The Trend of Research on Korean Nurses Stress Program Intervention in Korea)

  • Purpose. The purpose of this study was to investigate the trends of the stress intervention program for domestic nurses. Methods. This study was conducted by analyzing 28 papers, which were selected from three hundred seventeen dissertation theses on Domestic Dissertations and Major Associated Journals on Nursing Stress Intervention by searching the Academic Research Information Service(http://riss4u.net) from 1995 to February 2017. Results. 1. The theses were analyzed by academic field, year, research subject, research program type, research topic, analysis of intervention study method and result variables. 2. The study showed that 15(82.14%) theses are masters', 8(28.57) theses are doctors' and 5(17) are journals. By nurses position, 26(92.86%) theses were about general nurses. By hospital, 21(75.00%) theses were about nurses working at the general hopitals whose wards were more than 300. 3. For research type, 7 theses were about aromatherapy(25.00). For the research subjects, 16 theses were about psychological variables. The study showed that the subjects were $22.62{\pm}7.62$ persons and mean intervention period was $3.8{\pm}2.61$ weeks. For experimental methods, 19 cases (67.86%) were non-equalty control group, which are most. Conclusions. In conclusion, research on nurses stress mediation has been steadily increasing. However, the studies on nurses stress intervention need to be diversified and activated because the intervention methods and types are fragmentary and the research fileds are concentrated on theses.

서울 및 경기지역 종합병원에서 간호직의 조직갈등 경험이 노조몰입에 미치는 영향 (Organization Conflict and Affecting Factors on Labor Union Commitment among Nurses in Seoul and Gyeing-Gi Province Hospitals)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze affecting factors on labor union commitment among nurses in two general hospitals. The subjects of this study were 282 nurses in one university hospital in Seoul and one general hospital in Gyeong-Gi province from April 20 to May 9, 2008 through survey questionnaires. The main results of this study were as follow: First, labor union commitment level among nurses was increased as 30 years old and lower job position. Second, organization conflict level among nurses did not statistical differ significantly regarding age, education level, wedding, job year, job position, and labor manager. Third, correlation between labor union commitment level and other variables as follow. It was increased as age, education level, job year, job position, organization conflict level but not statistical difference significantly. Finally, from the results of multiple regression analysis to identify major affecting factors of labor union commitment level, it depends on low education level, high conflict between individual and group but not significantly. Therefore, new research was required regarding organization culture and commitment.
