  • Scientific trust and quantification of traditional species investigation and results that have been used in ecology for decades has always been a problem and concern for ecologists. Global ecologists have proposed DNA-based species investigation studies to find answers to problems. In this study, we reviewed the global trend of research on environmental DNA(eDNA), which is a method for monitoring species by detecting DNA of organisms naturally mixed in environmental samples such as water, soil, and feces. The first eDNA research confirmed the possibility of species investigation at the molecular level, and commercialization of NGS(Next Generation Sequencing) and DNA metabarcoding elicits efficient and quantitative species investigation results, and eDNA research is increasing in the filed of ecology. In this study, mammals and birds were detected using MiMammal universal primers from 23 samples(3 natural reserves; 20 water bowls) out of 4 patches to verify eDNA for urban ecosystems in Suwon, and eDNA was verified by performing camera trapping and field survey. Most terrestrial species were detected through eDNA, and particularly, mice(Mus musculus), and Vinous-throated Parrotbill (Sinosuthora webbiana) were identified only with eDNA, It has been confirmed to be highly effective by investigating techniques for small and internal species. However, due to the lack of resolution of the primer, weasels(Mustela sibirica) and squirrels(Melanochromis auratus) were not detected, and it was confirmed that the traditional investigation method was effective only for a few species, such as Mogera robusta(Mogera robusta). Therefore, it is judged that the effects of species investigation can be maximized only when eDNA is combined with traditional field survey and Camera trapping to complement each other.

  • Currently, we usually do our activities inside of the buildings, so we don't often get enough of the direct sunlight, which could cause health problems. There was a recent move to solve this issue by adding a courtyard to new constructions. This research's goals are to determine how much of rays of the sun get into the building, if the natural lighting could be used as a light for the interior. With these, we may see the outcomes of mental revitalization for the people and reduces the consumption of the energy. Also, we try to analyze the temperature and the humidity of the inside, depends on the shape of the courthouse.

  • Limited fossil fuels and unstable energy supply are considered as one of the critical problems in architecture requiring large amounts of energy. In order to this challenge, environment-friendly architecture design is required. Especially, Application of solar energy as a clean energy source and one kind of renewable energy. Many sites however are mainly concentrated in the developed countries, and are scarcer within the developing world. Simple radiation estimation models using meteorologically observed input parameters are often used in the applications requiring rough estimations of solar radiation. In this paper, measurements of global solar radiation and cloud data hours in climatological locations in South Korea are used to develop an estimation in solar radiation. The results of measured data are compared with the results obtained from equations, internationally accepted correlations.

  • Applying the method calculating creep of Concrete Filled steel Tube (CFT) members based on the Elastic Continuation and Plastic Flow theory for concrete creep with the finite element method, the paper develops a new numerical method for the creep of CFT arch bridges considering effects of bending moment. It is shown that the method is feasible and reasonable through comparing the predicted stresses and deflection caused by the creep with the results obtained by the method of Gu et al. (2001) based on ACI209R model and experimental data of an actual CFT arch bridge. Furthermore, nine CFT arch bridges with different types are calculated and analyzed with and without the effects of bending moment. As a result, the bending moment has considerable influences on long-term deformations and internal forces of CFT arch bridges, especially when the section of arch rib is subjected to a large bending moment.

  • Recently the building is introducing the indoor water space. Thermal environment change with the introduction. Consequently, this study shows how water space in the public facility affects the indoor environment. We had put our experiment to measure the humidity and temperature differences in different distances of water space. The result of this study is as follows. First, We found that even though there's a water space, it makes no big change in temperature by different distance. The temperature was only maintained by a cooler. Second, As there's a water space, the humidity was affected by within 1.5 m of it. Through our experimental result, we have started our study to make a water space effective.

  • Underground shopping center has become a important commercial facility due to their good accessibility to the public transport. However, underground shopping center has high risk of air contaminants emission like formaldehyde and lowered indoor air quality. In this study, formaldehyde concentration of the underground shopping center was estimated according to the renovation and characteristics of space. It was found that newly renovated underground shopping center has low formaldehyde concentration. In case of closed entrance type, the formaldehyde concentration was 320 % higher than open type. Formaldehyde concentration was varied by product type and especially, high formaldehyde concentration was measured near the stores selling nail polish and cosmetics. It is important to apply appropriate ventilation system according to characteristics of space.

  • This study aims to choose installation location of wind power system and analyze influence factors of wind power system by shape of super high-raise building by using CFD simulation. As a result of this study, wind power system is more applicable to streamlined building than normal building. Round openings are seemed to be the most efficient shape for building integrated wind power system in types applying venturi effect. Safety and vibration should be considered in the case of application of wind power system between the buildings.

  • This study addresses the effect of pre-stressed cables on a pre-stressed mega-braced steel frame through employing static analysis and pushover analysis. The performances of a pre-stressed mega-braced steel frame and a pure steel frame without mega-braces are compared in terms of base shear, ductility, and failure mode. The influence of the cable parameters is also analyzed. Numerical results show that cable braces can effectively improve the lateral stiffness of a pure frame. However, it reduces structural ductility and degenerates structural pre-failure lateral stiffness greatly. Furthermore, it is found that 20% fluctuation in the cable pretension has little effect on structural ultimate bearing capacity and lateral stiffness. As comparison, 20% fluctuation in the cable diameter has much greater impact.

  • An understanding of rheological property on cement paste is one of the important factor to design concrete such as High-fluidity Concrete (HFC) for a specific application. The HFC is a specially proportioned hydraulic cement concrete that enables the fresh concrete to flow easily into the forms and around the reinforcement and prestressing steel without vibration and segregation. Use of this type of concrete for the concrete building construction, manufacture of precast, prestressed bridge elements provides the benefits of increased rate of production and safety, reduced labor needs, and lower noise levels. This paper presents the performance of rheological properties of cement paste incorporating domestic high-water-reduced-admixture (HWRA) for an Ultra-high-fluidity concrete (UHFC). Investigation was carried out on cement pastes with combinations of various dosages of HWRA and water/cement ratios.
