Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify independent predictors of mortality and functional recovery in patients with primary intracerebral hemorrhage (PICH) and to improve functional outcome in these patients. Methods : Data were collected retrospectively on 585 patients with supratentorial PICH admitted to the Stroke Unit at our hospital between 1st January 2004 and the 31st July 2008. Using multivariate logistic regression analysis, the associations between all selected variables and 30-day mortality and 90-day functional recoveries after PICH was evaluated. Results : Ninety-day functional recovery was achieved in 29.1% of the 585 patients and 30-day mortality in 15.9%. Age (OR=7.384, p=0.000), limb weakness (OR=6.927, p=0.000), and hematoma volume (OR=5.293, p=0.000) were found to be powerful predictors of 90-day functional recovery. Furthermore, initial consciousness (OR=3.013, p=0.014) hematoma location (lobar, OR=2.653, p=0.003), ventricular extension of blood (OR=2.077, p=0.013), leukocytosis (OR=2.048, p=0.008), alcohol intake (drinker, OR=1.927, p=0.023), and increased serum aminotransferase (OR=1.892, p=0.035) were found to be independent predictors of 90-day functional recovery after PICH. On the other hand, a pupillary abnormality (OR=4.532, p=0.000) and initial unconsciousness (OR=3.362, p=0.000) were found to be independent predictors of 30-day mortality after PICH. Conclusion : The predictors of mortality and functional recovery after PICH identified during this analysis may assist during clinical decision-making, when advising patients or family members about the prognosis of PICH and when planning intervention trials.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify relationships of resilience, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), and quality of life of breast cancer patients. The findings from this study would provide baseline data needed for nursing intervention. Methods: A sample of 129 breast cancer patients was recruited from three hospitals in J and C cities in Korea. The survey was conducted with participants by utilizing self-reported questionnaires. Results: Quality of life showed statistically significant differences on religion (t=2.11, p=.033) and hobby (t=2.79, p=.006). Resilience and PTSD had a negative correlation (r=-.22, p=.010). Resilience and quality of life of the participants had a positive correlation (r=.58, p<.001), whereas PTSD and quality of life had a negative correlation (r=-.45, p<.001). Significant predictors of quality of life were resilience and PTSD. These variables explained 44.9% of the variance in quality of life. Conclusion: Findings indicate that as resilience of breast cancer patients rose higher and PTSD got lower, their quality of life increased. Based on these results, nursing interventions directed towards improving resilience and relieving PTSD is proposed.
The purpose of this study was to develop and empirically evaluate a theoretical model that delineated the processes whereby parents' socioeconomic status affected students'academic achievement via parental support and students' ego-resilience. The proposed model was tested with the first and second wave of a cohort sample of the first grade middle school students from the Korean Children Youth Panel survey by using linear structural relations techniques. The results of analysis showed firstly that parents' socioeconomic status, parental support and students' ego-resilience directly affected the level of students'academic achievement with statistical significance. Secondly, parental support, the proxy of social capital of the family, was contingent upon the parents'socioeconomic status. Thirdly, in addition to its direct effect, parents'socioeconomic status gave indirect effect on students' academic performance through parental support and ego-resilience. Based upon these results implications for social work intervention were provided.

Wireless sensor networks collect and analyze sensing data in a variety of environments without human intervention. The sensor network changes its lifetime depending on routing protocols initially installed. In addition, it is difficult to modify the routing path during operating the network because sensors must consume a lot of energy resource. It is important to measure the network performance through simulation before building the sensor network into the real field. This paper proposes a WSN model for a low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy protocol using DEVS kernel models. The proposed model is implemented with the sub models (i.e. broadcast model and controlled model) of the kernel model. Experimental results indicate that the broadcast model based WSN model showed lower CPU resource usage and higher message delivery than the broadcast model.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to show effectiveness of Acupuncture treatment on gastrointestinal dysfunctions after Cesarean section by analyzing randomized controlled clinical trials. Methods: We searched randomized controlled clinical trials related with acupuncture treatment on gastrointestinal dysfunctions after Cesarean section through national and overseas database and analyzed them in detail. Results: 6 articles were included according to our selection criteria and 1,084 women were involved. 3 studies used TEAS (Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulation), 2 studies used Elastic band and 1 study used Acupressure by hand. Their results were statistically more effective than control groups. The most frequently used acupoints were Neiguan (PC6), Zusanli (ST36) followed by Sanyinjiao (SP6), Hegu (IL4). Conclusions: There was significant difference in the effectiveness of the intervention including Acupuncture treatment. Based on analysis, it could be an effective way for the treatment of gastrointestinal dysfunctions after Cesarean section in clinical practice.

Purpose: Health behaviors for metabolic syndrome (MetS) prevention should be emphasized from early adulthood. There is little information on psychosocial factors associated with health behaviors for MetS prevention. The aim of this study was to determine whether there would be a mediating effect of perceived stress on the association between social support and health behaviors for MetS prevention among university students. Methods: This cross-sectional and correlation study was conducted with 502 university students in South Korea. Social support, perceived stress, and lifestyle evaluation for metabolic syndrome scales were used. Online questionnaire survey was conducted between November and December 2019. The mediating effect of social support on health behaviors for MetS prevention was analyzed using PROCESS macro program with bootstrapping method to test our hypotheses. Results: Social support directly influenced perceived stress (β=-.35, p<.001) and health behaviors for MetS prevention (β=.14, p=.002). Health behaviors for MetS prevention was indirectly influenced by perceived stress (β=-.25, p<.001). The size of indirect effect of social support on health behaviors for MetS prevention was 0.06. Conclusions: The association of social support and health behaviors for MetS prevention was partially mediated by perceived stress among university students. Therefore, a university-based nursing intervention should comprise social support strategies with stress management to promote health behaviors for MetS prevention.
Poststroke depression can have a secondary effect on social cognition, and this can lead to behavioral problems. The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of a Cognitive Stimulation Circulative Program(CSCP) based on occupational therapy. The participants of this study were 12 stroke patients. The CSCP was organized in such a way to promote the cognitive process. This program were carried out as a circuit program(16 sessions). As a result of this study, the depression scale of the subjects had statistically significant benefit(p<.05). Also, the evaluation results verified partial improvement in quality of life, and the relationship change scale which was used to evaluate role of physical and social cognitive function ability had statistically significant benefit(p<.05). The above results of this study verified that the CSCP was an efficient intervention program that reduces the depression of stroke patients and improve their social cognitive function ability, thus enhancing the quality of life.
The purpose of this study is examining the effect of aging attitudes of older people on their life satisfaction, and investigating the mediating role of solidarity between parents and children. To achieve this, the survey was conducted with 2,076 Korean elderlies who were sampled with proportional stratified, and performed multi-mediated regression with SPSS macro PROCESS v.2.16. The results are following. First, aging attitude that older people recognized significantly affects to their life satisfaction. Second, aging attitude significantly affects to the five sub-categories of solidarity between parents and children. Especially, as elderly shows more negative attitude on aging, the solidarity also goes higher. Third, among sub-categories of solidarity between parents and children, affectional, identical, and functional solidarities play roles of mediator on the relationship between aging attitude and life satisfaction, and affectional solidarity shows the biggest influence on the relationship. Based on the results, practical and policy intervention were suggested for better life satisfaction of Korean elderly.
The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of laughter therapy on healthy life of human through meta-analysis of literature. Based on domestic and foreign academic databases, 495 foreign and 199 domestic literature were reviewed focusing on "quality of life," as the ultimate goal of health. The final seven literature were extracted. Analyses was performed in R version 3.5.1. Significant differences (SMD=0.23, p<0.01) were shown in the pre-post comparisons of experimental groups using the mean difference (effects size) analysis of the extracted samples. Significant results were not shown in meta regression analyses setting explanatory variables as 'treatment sessions and durations' and outcome variables as 'treatment effects of laughter therapy'. This study is meaningful in comparative analyses of pre-post experimental groups to establish 'laughter therapy' has a significant effect on improving 'quality of life' and is a useful intervention method, especially for older people, and older women with depression.
This study examines the mediating effect of self-esteem in the influence of family decision-making attitudes on adolescents' human rights awareness. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, data from the Korea Youth Policy Research Institute surveyed in 2018 were used and analyzed. After extracting 693 adolescents with part-time work experience among all respondents in this data, missing values, outliers, and weights were removed, and a total of 511 people were selected as final research subjects. The SPSS WIN 25.0 program was used to verify the influence and mediating effect between measurement variables. As a result of the analysis, the partial mediating effect of self-esteem was confirmed in the influence of decision-making attitudes within the family on the human rights consciousness of adolescents. In addition, the Sobel Test was conducted to confirm the significance of the mediating effect of self-esteem. Based on the results of this study, the necessity of social welfare intervention was suggested for desirable communication between parents and children, raising awareness of human rights and enhancing self-esteem suggested.
