  • Recently Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry(ESPI) has been studied because it has the advantages to be able to measure the whole-field surface deformations of engineering components and materials in industrial areas with noncontact. The speckle patterns to be formed with interference phenomena of scattering light from rough surfaces illuminated by laser light have phase informations of surface deformations. In this study we used this interference phenomena and the phase shifting method to measure the inplane deformations, together with the use of digital image equipment to process the informations contained in the speckle pattern and to display consequent interferograms on TV monitor. FEA was performed before experiments and we obtained good agreement between the experimental results and FEA.

  • Substructuring methods are usually used in finite element structural analyses. In this study a multi-level substructuring algorithm is developed and proposed as a possible candidate for incompressible fluid solves. Finite element formulation for incompressible flow has been stabilized by a modified residual procedure proposed by Ilinca et.al.[5]. The present algorithm consists of four stages such as a gathering stage, a condensing stage, a solving stage and a scattering stage. At each level, a predetermined number of elements are gathered and condensed to form an element of higher level. At highest level, each subdomain consists of only one super-element. Thus, the inversion process of a stiffness matrix associated with internal degrees of freedom of each subdomain has been replaced by a sequential static condensation. The global algebraic system arising feom the assembly of each subdomains is solved using Conjugate Gradient Squared(CGS) method. In this case, pre-conditioning techniques usually accompanied by iterative solvers are not needed.

  • This paper is the second of 3 companion papers which investigate axial stratification process. In-cylinder fuel behavior has been investigated in the port injected Sl engine by visualizing for the purpose of understanding stratification. Planar laser light sheet from an Nd:YAG laser has been illuminated through the transparent quartz cylinder of the single cylinder optical engine and the Mie scattered light has been captured through the quartz window in the piston head with an ICCD camera. Fuel has been replaced with an air-ethanol mixture to utilize atomized fuel spray fur the visualization purposes. This results have been compared with steady flow concentration measurement. For low/medium swirl port, the early injection makes such a fuel distribution state that is upper-rich, middle-lean and lower-rich along the combustion chamber and cylinder by tumbling motion. On the other hand, the late injection induces upper-rich, middle-lean and lower-rich state due to the short fuel penetration.

In-cylinder fuel behavior has been investigated in the port injected SI engine by visualizing for the purpose of understanding stratification. In high swirl port, the most fuel remains at combustion chamber and upper cylinder region without being affected by injection timing. The macro-distributed state is not changed but the difference of the amount of fuel around the spark plug varies according to injection timing, which determines LML.

  • In this paper we intended to discuss the following topics: (1) Notation, generalities, Markov processes. The close relationship between (generators of) Markov processes and the martingale problem is exhibited. A link between the Korovkin property and generators of Feller semigroups is established. (2) Feynman-Kac semigroups: 0-order regular perturbations, pinned Markov measures. A basic representation via distributions of Markov processes is depicted. (3) Dirichlet semigroups: 0-order singular perturbations, harmonic functions, multiplicative functionals. Here a representation theorem of solutions to the heat equation is depicted in terms of the distributions of the underlying Markov process and a suitable stopping time. (4) Sets of finite capacity, wave operators, and related results. In this section a number of results are presented concerning the completeness of scattering systems (and its spectral consequences). (5) Some (abstract) problems related to Neumann semigroups: 1st order perturbations. In this section some rather abstract problems are presented, which lie on the borderline between first order perturbations together with their boundary limits (Neumann type boundary conditions and) and reflected Markov processes.

  • We report a simple eco-friendly process for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using aqueous extract from Coffea Arabica fruit. The formation of AuNPs was confirmed using absorption spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy images. FT-IR analysis demonstrates the major functional groups present in Coffee Arabica fruit extract before and after synthesizing AuNPs. The Face Center Cubic (FCC) polycrystalline nature of these particles was identified by X-Ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Taking into account the contribution of the biomass surrounding the AuNPs, dynamic light scattering (DLS) results revealed an average particle size of ~59 nm.

  • To investigate in influence of photosensitizer used with benzophenone(BP) in the curing rate and physical properties of UV curable hard coating on plastic, we prepared UV curable clear and pigmented coatings with DEA, DMA, NPM and TEA as photosensitizer, respectively. The curing rate calculated from the decrease of the absorbance of acrylic double bond measured by FT-IR spectroscopy increased s follows; DEA>DMA>NPM>TEA. this order could be explained by the reactivity of diethylamino group of DEA and the ease of formation of activated complex between BP and photosensitizer during the curing process. In UV curable pigmented coatings, the order of curing rate increased as follows; DEA>DMA>TEA>NPM. It was found that the curing rate of the pigmented coating can be increased by light scattering of TiO$_2$. The hardness of coating film cured by photosensitization of DEA and DMA is higher than other photosensitizers due to the crosslinking reaction of DEA and DMA radical bound to polymer backbone.

  • Liquid crystal-polymer composite(LCPC) films consisting of a continuous LC phase embedded in a three-dimensional network of polymer matrix are formed by photopolymerization-induced phase separ on. The LCPC films are switched from a light-scattering stats to a highly transparent stats on the application of electric fields. Since the alignment of LC molecular determines the electro-optical properties of films, the requirement for good contrast is to generate the nematic phase at high concentration. On the other hand, the concentration of UV-curable monomer must be increased above some critical value to from the flexible matrix of unbounded polymer. The mixing ratio of LC and UV-curable monomer affects the electro-optical and viscoelastic properties of LCPD films in two opposing ways. By controlling the phase separation process, at an LC fraction of 0.7, the maximum performance of LCPC films has been achieved, the response time of which is 2ms on the application of electric fields.

  • For the preparation of Aluminum-slurry fuel, the effects of process parameters on the aluminum dispersion stability in the liquid fuel have been investigated. The dispersion stability of aluminum-slurry fuels could be monitored by measurements through Turbiscan using the scattering of the Laser. Through the application of various additives, TPAB (Tetrapropyl ammonium bromide) showed more reasonable performance than others.

  • ESPI(Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry) is new optical measuring method to be able to measure the surface deformations of engineering components and materials in industrial areas. Conventional measuring method of surface deformation such as the strain gauge have many demerits because it is contact and point-to-point measuring one. But ESPI that is non-contact, whole field measuring method can overcome previous disadvantages. The speckle pattern to be formed with interference phenomena of scattering light from rough surfaces illuminated by laser light have phase information of surface In this study we used this interference phenomena and the phase shifting method to measure the in- plane deformation, together with the use of digital equipment to process the information contained in the speckle pattern and to display consequent inter ferograms.
