  • The purpose of this paper is to carry out an empirical analysis of the link that exists between microfinance and poverty alleviation. The analysis is driven by literature searches on empirical works done by different researchers in different contexts. Qualitative research methodology was adopted, following a desktop approach. An empirical literature review took a centre stage in this investigation. An analysis of empirical works shows that microfinance enhances poverty alleviation despite the challenges such as the Indian Andhra Pradesh crisis. The paper is limited to a review of empirical sources of literature. A field survey, supported by an econometric analysis would have helped to generate robust results. This paper attempts to bring together the empirical works that were done in different contexts to shed light on the important relationship between microfinance and poverty. Many research works on microfinance depend upon personal anecdotes, thus this present paper attempts to compile the scattered empirical findings on microfinance and poverty alleviation.

  • An analysis method of electromagnetic scattering from periodic patch array of double-dipole elements on a grounded dielectric substrate in case of oblique incident and arbitrary polarization is considered. The basis functions are chosen to be entire consinusoidal functions are chosen to be entire consinusoidal functions covering the rectangular shaped domain in which the original dipoles are inscribed, unlike the conventional method in which basis functions are defined only for the conducting element region. To confirm the validity of the proposed analysis method, we calculate the normalized scattered power for two propagating modes and compare the results with those obtained by the previous numerical method for the double dipole elements of rectangular type and parallelogram type which have the property of frequency scanned reflection and polarizer. Good correspondence has been observed between them. Some numerical results such as variation of power and axial ratio of first-order diffracted wave by a periodic array of double-dipole elements are compared with previous results.

  • Identification of noise sources, their locations and strengths, have been taken great attention. The method that can identify noise sources normally assumes that noise sources are located at a free field. However, the sound in a reverberant field consists of that coming directly from the source plus sound reflected or scattered by the walls or objects in the field. In contrast to the exterior sound field, reflections are added to sound field. Therefore, we have to consider the reverberation effect on the source identification method. The main objective of this paper is to identify noise source in the reverberant field. At fist, we try to identify noise sources in a rigid wall enclosure using the spherical beamforming method. In many case of practical interest, the wall has an admittance so that complex reflection process occurred. In this paper, we assumed the complex reverberant field in the enclosure to be the sum of plane waves with random incidence and magnitude. Then the effects of reverberant field at interior source identification have been studied theoretically as well as experimentally

  • In this paper, ultrasonic tomography by the Mode-Converted Rayleigh wave (MCRW) in the back-scattered direction is presented. When a beam with a short pulse and narrow beam width enters a reflector with smooth surface, in general, two major arrivals can be observed in the output waveform: the specular reflection and the radiation of the MCRW from the reflector surface. The time-delay between the two waves is relatively large and thus can be measured easily. This large time-delay is due to the fact that the MCRW is slower than incident wave. In our method, this large time- delay is used for ultrasonic image reconstruction. To effectively detect the MCRW, the arrayed-receiving transducers are circularly arranged around the transmitter. In addition, a deconvolution method is employed to remove specular echo signals for reconstructing the MCRW image.

  • Keeping the polarization direction of the projection light unchanged is of crucial importance for high quality of images on a double-screen 3D projection display system. It has been found that the deposition of oxide layers on the surfaces of scattering polarizer film results in an improvement of polarization maintenance property of the film. The secondary image formed on the front screen by the light scattered from the rear screen decreases by 30% through the application of oxide layers on both surfaces of the screen. Since the oxide layer can also be used as an anti-reflection (AR) coating of the film, this method is very effective for the projection display applications.

  • The wave interactions with fully submerged and floating dual buoy/vertical porous membrane breakwaters has been investigated in experimentally to validate the developed theory and numerical method in the previous study, in which multi-domain hydro-elastic formulation was carried out in the context of linear wave-body interaction theory and Darcy's law. It is found that the experimental results agrees well with the numerical prediction. Transmission and reflection can be quite reduced simultaneously especially in the region of long waves. The properly tuned system to incoming waves can effectively dissipate wave energy and also offset each other between incident and scattered waves using its hydro-elasticity and geometry.

  • A numerical method for scattering of electromagnetic waves from a arbitrary shaped grating covered with dielectric slab is considered for TE polarization case from the viewpoints of both reflection grating problem and leaky wave antenna problem. The analysis is based on a periodic Green's function and the method of moments. Numerical results involving some combinations of geometric parameters are presented in terms of relative scattered powers of spectral modes and complex propagation constants.

  • Different types of deterministic solution methods were used to solve neutron transport equations corresponding to half-space and slab albedo problems. In these types of solution methods, in addition to the error of the numerical solutions, the obtained results contain truncation and discretization errors. In the present work, a non-analog Monte Carlo method is provided to simulate the half-space and slab albedo problems with Inönü and Anlı-Güngör strongly anisotropic scattering functions. For each scattering function, the sampling method of the direction of the scattered neutrons is presented. The effects of different beams with different angular dependencies and the effects of different scattering parameters on the reflection probability are investigated using the developed Monte Carlo method. The validity of the Monte Carlo method is also confirmed through the comparison with the published data.

  • In this paper, TM(transverse magnetic) scattering problems by a conductive strip grating between a double dielectric layer are analyzed by applying the PMM(point matching method) known as a numerical method of electromagnetic fileld. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients, the scattered electromagnetic fields are expanded in a series of Floquet mode functions, and the conductive boundary condition is applied to analysis of the conductive strip. The most normalized reflected powers of the sharp variations in minimum values are scattered in direction of the other angles except incident angle. Generally, in the case of numerical analysis except for reflection and transmission power in free space, as the dielectric constants of the double dielectric layer increases, the reflected power increases and the transmitted power decreases relatively, respectively. The numerical results for the presented structure of this paper having a grounded double dielectric layer are shown in good agreement compared to those of the existing papers.

  • A numerical method for scattering of electromagnetic waves from a periodic strip grating over a grounded dielectric slab is considered for TE and TM polarization cases from the viewpoints of both reflection grating problem and leaky wave antenna problem. The analysis is based on a mode expansion method, floquet's theorem, and the method of moments. Numerical results involving some combinations of geometric parameters are presented in terms of complex propagation constant (kd-$\beta$d diagram), radiation pattern, and relative scattered powers of spectral modes. In particular, the relationship between complex propagatio constnat form the viewpoint of leaky wqve antenna problem and Off-bragg and bragg blazing phenomena from the viewpoint of reflecton graing problem is investigated.
