Technique for computing the sensitivity of temperature distributions to changes in processing parameters needed for deciding the more effective laser input parameters for laser surface hardening treatment are considered. A new multifunctional sandwich composite was investigated in this paper. The honeycomb core of this composite was filled with viscoelastic material in order to obtain an improved impact performance. The fillings in the honeycomb cells was hoped to provide the act of energy dissipation in this combined material system. Low-velocity drop-weight test was set up to the specimens with various stacked carbon/epoxy laminate facesheets, $[0/90]_{4s},\;[0/45/-45/90]_{2s}$. Load and energy history were checked and compared for the both groups of specimens, with and without rubber fillings. Further, the damaged faces were inspected visually by ultrasonic C-scan.

In this paper, effective and user friendly CAM software is presented that automatically generates any three dimensional complex toolpaths according to a CAD drawing. In advanced manufacturing, often it is essential to scan the sample following a complex trajectory which consists of short (few microns) and multidirectional moves. The reported CAM software offers constant velocity for all short trajectory elements and provides an efficient shift of tool path direction in sharp corners of a tool trajectory, which is vital for any laser, based precision machining. The software also provides fast modification of tool path, automatic and efficient sequencing of path elements in a complicated tool trajectory, location of reference point and automatic fixing of geometrical errors in imported drawing exchange files (DXF) or DWG format files.

In this paper, we have proposed an automatic inspection system for cracks on the surface of a structure. The proposed system consists of the imaging system and the veh~cle system. The imaging system. a set of optical sensor, lens, illuminator, storage and their configuration, images the scene and store it on the hard disk. We adopted a linescan camera of 5000 pixel density to achieve high resolution without loss of simplicity. The vehicle system that moves the optical system IS ~mplemented by an AGV. The AGV moves forward at constant velocity and avoid obstacles to acquire a stable image. We have cmplemented an experimental system and have acquired images of the wall of hallway. The image is of 0.1-mmipixel resolution and the scanning time IS about 1 mlsec. The allow able scan.

This study is to have dose reduction and minimization of excessive use of contrast medium in the pediatric cardiac computed tomography and to suggest the optimization plan to acquire the enhancement image of the 4 chambers at the same time by formulating scan delay time in empirical method with considering variables such as contrast medium injection velocity and cardiac approaching time. Quantitative, qualitative and dose assessment were carried out for 30 pediatric patients who had taken the cardiac examination. In conclusion, image enhancement in 4 chambers of the cardiac shows over 300 HU which is proper to pediatric cardiac reading by applying the empirical method with calculating scan delay time according to weight and contrast medium volume and injection velocity. Qualitative image assessments in confidence sharpness and noise have excellence qualitatively. Exposure dose to pediatrics also decreases precisely. Therefore this study is judged to take a important role of making optimization images with advantages of dose reduction and less side effects caused by it's excessive use in clinic.
In order to characterize the outstanding performance of three-dimensional (3D) composites, the low velocity impact test has been carried out. 3D fiber structures have been achieved by using the automated tape placement (ATP) process and a stitching method. Materials for the ATP and the stitching process were carbon/epoxy prepreg tapes and Kevlar fibers, respectively. Two-dimensional composites with the same stacking sequence as 3D counterparts have also been fabricated for the comparison of damage tolerance. For the assessment of damage after the impact loading, specimens were subjected to C-Scan nondestructive inspection. Compression after impact (CAI) tests were conducted to evaluate residual compressive strength. The damage area of 3D composites was greatly reduced $(30-40\%)$ compared with that of 2D composites. Although the CAI strength did not show drastic improvement for 3D composites, the ratio of retained strength was $5-10\%$ higher than 2D samples. The effect of stitching on the impact performance was negligible above the energy level of 35 Joules.
Physical properties of rocks are strongly dependant on details of pore micro-structures, which can be used for quantifying relations between physical properties of rocks through pore-scale simulation techniques. Recently, high-resolution scan techniques, such as X-ray microtomography and high performance computers make it possible to calculate permeability from pore micro-structures of rocks. We try to extend this simulation methodology to velocity and electrical conductivity. However, the smoothing effect during tomographic inversion creates artifacts in pore micro-structures and causes inaccurate property estimation. To mitigate this artifact, we tried to use sharpening filter and neural network classification techniques. Both methods gave noticeable improvement in pore structure imaging and accurate estimation of permeability and electrical conductivity, which implies that our method effectively removes the smoothing effect in pore structures. However, the calculated velocities showed only incremental improvement. By comparison between thin section images and tomogram, we found that our resolution is not high enough, and it is mainly responsible for the inaccuracy in velocity despite the successful removal of the smoothing effect. In conclusion, our methods can be very useful for pore-scale modeling, since it can create accurate pore structure without the smoothing effect. For accurate velocity estimation, the resolution of pore structure should be at least three times higher than that for permeability simulation.

Low-velocity impact damage of a thick pressure vessel by composite materials was studied using the modified Herzian contact radius theory. Impactors of various masses and various tup shapes were dropped freely in the range of 20m to 200mm height. With acceleration gage and strain gage installed on the impactor, impact force and acceleration and Contact radius were measured. After a test, the samples were radiographed to scan the state of damage. Compared with hemispherical tup of 12.7mm diameter, the contact radius of hemispherical tup of 25.4mm diameter was bigger. And the experimental data and the theoretical data was different due to the mechanical properties difference. The acceleration value was changed linearly according to the height.

Purpose This study was to evaluate the usefulness through the comparison of patients group and healthy control group by acquiring a variety of functional parameters index from time-activity curves of salivary gland scintigraphy using $^{99m}Tc$. Materials and Methods From December 2014 to February 2015 with the targets of 30 patients in the patient group who presented themselves with xerostomia and underwent the salivary gland scan and 10 people in healthy control group, approximately 30 minutes of dynamic Scan was carried out after the intravenous bolus injection of 370 MBq of $^{99m}TcO_4{^-}$ and per os stimulation with Vitamin C powder 20 minutes after the injection. The method of quantitative analysis was as follows, the time-activity curve was drawn after the parotid gland and submandible gland were prescribed as a region of interest, a variety of functional parameters index was obtained in each position of the curve, and the patients group and the control group were compared. Results As for the methods applied in comparison and measurement, uptake ratio (UR), time at maximum counts (Tmax), time at minimum counts (Tmin), maximum accumulation (MA), accumulation velocity, maximum secretion (MS), maximum stimulation secretion (MSS), and secretion velocity (SV) were used. In the comparison of functional parameters index of patient group and normal group, the healthy normal group showed significant difference compared to the patient group in all indices except for the minimum radioactivity time (Tmin), and also in terms of variation over time the normal group showed significant difference compared to the patient group (p<0.05). Conclusion Consequently, it was considered that the quantitative analysis that used a variety of functional parameters index would be useful for evaluating the function of the salivary glands of the patients with xerostomia as an objective and standardized information.
