  • 복합재료의 내부 결함 평가를 위해 일반적으로 적용되어온 초음파 C-스캔 기법은 섬유자동 배열을 통한 정밀 성형 공정에 적용하기에는 많은 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 복합재료의 정밀 성형 공정 중에 발생되는 각종 내부 결함들을 비파괴적, 비접촉으로 평가하기 위한 새로운 하이브리드 초음파 평가 기법을 확립하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 초음파 산란 반사(scattering reflection) 방식을 토대로 한 새로운 이중 피치-캐치(dual pitch-catch) 기법을 확립하여 기존의 결함평가를 위해 시험편의 스캔에 소요되는 시간을 줄이면서 우수한 결함 영상을 얻을 수 있는 새로운 하이브리드 기법을 개발하였다. 즉 두 가지 종류의 열경화성 및 열가소성 복합재료(carbon/epoxy, carbon/PPS) 적층판의 내부 박리(delamination) 결함의 영상화를 위하여 레이저를 이용한 유도 초음파의 발생 및 이중 피치-캐치(pitch-catch)방식을 토대로 한 비접촉식 공기 정합 트랜스듀서(air-coupled transducer)를 이용하여 결함 영상을 얻기 위한 핵심 알고리즘을 확립하였다.

Comparative Analysis of Cervical Lateral Mass Screw Insertion among Three Techniques in the Korean Population by Quantitative Measurements with Reformatted 2D CT Scan Images : Clinical Research

  • Objective : Our purpose of this study is to compare insertion angles and screw lengths from Roy-Camille, Magerl, and our designed method for cervical lateral mass screw fixation in the Korean population by quantitative measurement of reformatted two dimensional (2D) computed tomography (CT) images. Methods : We selected thirty Korean patients who were evaluated with thin section CT scans and reconstruction program to obtain reformatted 2D-CT images of the transversal plane passing the cranio-caudal angle using three different techniques. We measured the minimum angle to avoid vertebral artery (VA) injury, the ideal angle and depth for bicortical screwing of cervical lateral mass. Morphometric measurements of the lateral masses from C3-C7 were also taken. Results : In all three techniques, the mean safety angles from the VA were less than 8 degrees and the necessary depth of the screw was about 14 mm for safety to the VA and for the bicortical purchase. In our designed technique, the mean $\beta$ angles of each level from C3 to C7 were 29.0. 29.8. 29.5. 26.3. and 23.9 degrees, respectively. Conclusion : Results of this study and data from the literature indicate that differences may exist between the Korean and Western people in the length and angle for ideal lateral mass screw fixation. In addition, our technique needs further cadaveric and clinical study for safety and efficacy for being performed as alternative method for cervical lateral mass fixation.

Phantom을 이용한 뇌 관류 CT검사에서 방사선 피폭선량에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Radiation Exposure Dose of Brain Perfusion CT Examination a Phantom)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 급성기 허혈성 뇌졸중 환자의 뇌 관류 CT검사 시 피폭선량을 알아보고자 하였다. 특히, 방사선 감수성이 높은 장기들의 장기선량(Organ dose)을 팬텀과 유리선량계를 이용하여 실측해보고, 제조사가 제시한 기존 프로토콜(고정시간기법)과 새로 제시한 융합 프로토콜(조영제 추적기법)을 적용하여 선량을 측정하여 보고, 피폭선량 저감화 방안을 마련하고자 하였다. 분석결과 기존 프로토콜과 비교하여 새로 제시한 융합 프로토콜에서 최고 39.8 %, 최저 5.8 % 장기선량이 감소하였고, 검사 피폭선량인 $CDTI_{vol}$과 DLP 값은 각각 25 % 감소하였으며, 권고 선량 이하로 측정되었다. 위의 분석결과를 바탕으로 기존에 제시된 프로토콜을 점검해보고, 새로 제시한 융합 프로토콜을 적용하여 피폭선량을 감소시켜 국민보건향상에 이바지 해야 할 것이며, 다른 검사에서도 최적의 프로토콜을 찾기 위한 연구가 계속되어져야 할 것으로 사료된다.

Implementation of the Feed and Swaddle Technique as a Non-Pharmacological Strategy to Conduct Brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Very Low Birth Weight Infants

  • Purpose: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a useful tool for evaluating brain injury and maturation in preterm infants and often requires sedation to acquire images of sufficient quality. Infant sedation is often associated with adverse events, despite extreme precautions. In this study, the swaddling technique was investigated as an alternative non-pharmacological strategy to obtain brain MRIs of sufficient quality. Methods: We applied the feed and swaddle technique during routine brain MRI as a quality improvement project and compared its morbidity with that of sedation in a historic age-matched group. Seventy-nine very low birth weight infants in the neonatal intensive care unit of Ajou University Hospital (Suwon, Korea) were enrolled. Thirty-two (40.5%) infants were in the feed and swaddling group, and 47 (59.5%) were in the sedation group. Results: The morbidity associated with the cardiopulmonary system (swaddling group vs. sedation group: 53.13% [n=17] vs. 63.83% [n=30], P=0.723) and central nervous system (40.63% [n=13] vs. 29.79% [n=14], P=0.217) were not significantly different between groups. The MRI failure rate was not significantly different (swaddling group vs. sedation group: 12.5% [n=4] vs. 4.3% [n=2], P=0.174). The MRI scanning time was longer in the swaddling group than in the sedation group (76.5±20.3 minutes vs. 61.5±13.6 minutes, P=0.001). Cardiopulmonary adverse events were significantly less common in the swaddling group than in the sedation group (3.13% [n=1] vs. 34.04% [n=16], P=0.002). Conclusion: The success rate of MRI was comparable between the swaddling technique and sedation. Furthermore, despite the drawback of prolonged scan time, cardiopulmonary adverse events are fewer with swaddling than with sedative agents. Therefore, swaddling can be an alternative to sedation or anesthesia when performing neonatal MRI scans.

  • An electron beam microcolumn composed of an electron emitter, micro lenses, scan deflector, and focus lenses have been fabricated and tested in the STEM mode. In this paper, we report a technique of precisely aligning the electron lenses by the laser diffraction patterns instead of the conventional alignment method based on aligner and STM. STEM images of a standard Cu-grid were observed using a fabricated microcolumn under both the retarding and accelerating modes.

  • Complex oxide heterointerfaces have been extensively explored in the past due to the novel phenomenon emerging at such interfaces that differ from their individual bulk counterparts. The integration of a ferromagnetic (FM) material with the superconducting (SC) material leading to proximity effect is one of the commonly studied phenomenon in these heterostructures. In continuation, we have stabilized the FM layer La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 (LCMO) on SC material YBa2Cu3O7-${\delta}$ (YBCO) using pulsed laser deposition technique and explored the structural, magnetic, electrical and magneto-transport properties of this heterostructure. ${\Phi}$-scan measurements confirm the epitaxial nature of LCMO/YBCO heterostructure grown on single crystalline SrTiO3 substrate. The FM transition of LCMO and SC transition of YBCO are observed in the magnetization measurements of the bilayer structure. Through electrical measurements, we understood that the proximity effect leads to lowering of the SC transition of YBCO. The role of interface in the bilayer structure is also realized through electrical transport measurements.

거리 영상에서 인식 특정을 이용한 경계선 검출 기법 (A method of extracting edge line from range image using recognition features)

  • 본 논문은 2차 다항식을 이용하여 3차원 물체의 표면 특징을 추출하고 표현하는 방법을 제안한다. 우리는 수정된 스캔 라인 기법을 이용하여 에지 맵을 얻는다. 에지 맵으로부터 3차원 물체의 각 면들을 분리하기 위해 레이블링 연산을 하고 각 면에서 중심점과 모서리 점들을 추출한다. 그 다음에, 평면 방정식으로부터 각 면이 평면인지 곡면인지를 판단하고, 3차원 물체를 표현하기 위해 각 면의 평면 또는 곡면의 계수 및 특징들을 추출한다. 그리고 합성영상과 실측영상을 통해서 제안된 기법의 성능을 알아보았다.

  • 본 논문에서는 양방향 움직임 보상에 의한 필드 보간(bi-directional motion-compensated field interpolation) 방법을 사용한 효과적인 디인터레이싱(de-interlacing) 기법을 제안한다. 움직임 추정(motion estimation)을 이용한 일반적인 디인터레이싱 기법은 서로 다른 샘플링 격자(sampling grid) 관계인 연속한 두 필드(field)들간의 움직임 추정을 위해 line average 같은 비교적 간단한 형태의 디인터레이싱 기법이 선행된다. 그러나, 제안한 방법은 보간할 필드(the interpolated field)의 전후 필드들의 같은 샘플링 관계인 존재하는 스캔 라인(the existing scan line)들 사이에서만 움직임 추정이 이루어지므로 구현이 용이하다. 이때 구해진 움직임 벡터는 양방향 움직임 추정을 위한 초기 값으로 사용되어 진다. 제안한 알고리듬은 기존의 움직임 정보를 이용한 기법에 비해 구현이 용이하며, 카메라 움직임이 있는 panning, zooming 영상에 특히 효율적이다.

  • The mechanical properties of composite materials may degrade severely in the presence of damage. Especially, the high-velocity impact such as bird strike, a hailstorm, and a small piece of tire or stone during high taxing, can cause sever damage to the structures and sub-system in spite of a very small mass. However, it is not easy to detect the damage in composite plates using a single technique or any conventional methods. In this paper, the PYDF(polyvinylidene fluoride) film sensors and strain gages were used for monitoring impact damage initiation and propagation in composite laminates. The WT(wavelet transform) and STFT(short time Fourier transform) are used to decompose the sensor signals. A ultrasonic C-scan and a digital microscope are also used to examine the extent of the damage in each case. This research demonstrate how various sensing techniques, PVDF sensor in particular, can be used to characterize high-velocity impact damage in advanced composites.

  • Basically, the idea underlying most edge-detection technique is the computation of a local derivative operator used for edge detection in gray level image. This concept can be easily illustrated with the aid of object which shows an image of a simple lilght on a dark background, Using the gray level profile along a horizontal scan line of the image. the first and second derivatives of it were acquired. This study is to develop an automatic measuring system based on the digital image processing which can be applied to the real time measurement of the characteristics of the ultra-thin thickness. The experimental results indicate that the developed automatic inspection can be applied in real situation.
