Design and Implementation of Scaling Training System Using Virtual Reality (가상현실을 이용한 스케일링 훈련 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • Scaling is one of the most basic dental gum treatments and involves removing tartar that has hardened on teeth. However, inexperienced and unprofessional removal of tartar may damage the gums, resulting in excessive bleeding or damage to the teeth. For this reason, scaling must be done delicately according to the gum structure of various people, and sufficient practice must be provided. Related departments at the university are conducting scaling exercises. However, from the perspective of students who have not had sufficient practice, selecting subjects and conducting practice is not easy, and practice subjects may also avoid participating in practice due to discomfort and anxiety. Accordingly, in this study, we designed and implemented a virtual reality practice system using VR to create a virtual patient rather than an actual subject and implement various gum shapes step by step to enable repetitive practice and various scaling experiences.

A Simulation Model for Vaccum-Driven Bonding of Glass Panels in the Cell Process for LCD Manufacturing (LCD 유리원판 진공식 합착공정 해석을 위한 수치모델)

  • A simplified simulation model is designed to investigate the vacuum-driven bonding of glass panels in the cell process for LCD manufacturing. The bonding process is modelled by the transient flow of a weakly-compressible fluid in a very thin channel between two horizontal glass panels. An order of magnitude scaling analysis is conducted based on the characteristic feature of the channel of which height is much smaller than the horizontal length scales. It is revealed that the flow in the channel is represented by a Poiseuille flow of a compressible fluid. A finite volume model has been constructed to acquire the numerical solution to the derived simplified equations. For a simple test problem of pressure-driven microchannel flow, an assessment is made of the accuracy and validity of the proposed model. The basic aspects of vacuum-driven bonding are examined numerically, and the applicability of the present simulation model is illustrated.

The NAND Type Flash EEPROM Using the Scaled SONOSFET (Scaled SONOSFET를 이용한 NAND형 Flash EEPROM)

  • 8$\times$8 bit scaled SONOSFET NAND type flash EEPROM that shows better characteristics on cell density and endurance than NOR type have been designed and its electrical characteristics are verified with computer aided simulation. For the simulation, the spice model parameter was extracted from the sealed down SONOSFET that was fabricated by $1.5mutextrm{m}$ topological design rule. To improve the endurance of the device, the EEPROM design to have modified Fowler-Nordheim tunneling through the whole channel area in Write/Erase operation. As a result, it operates Write/Erase operation at low current, and has been proven Its good endurance. The NAND type flash EEPROM, which has upper limit of V$_{th}$, has the upper limit of V$_{th}$ as 4.5V. It is better than that of floating gate as 4V. And a EEPROM using the SONOSFET without scaling (65$\AA$-l65$\AA$-35$\AA$), was also designed and its characteristics have been compared. It has more possibliity of error from the V$_{th}$ upper limit as 4V, and takes more time for Read operation due to low current. As a consequence, it is proven that scaled down SONOSFET is more pertinent than existing floating gate or SONOSFET without scaling for the NAND type flash EEPROM.EPROM.

  • This paper study about an unscented Kalman filter with a variety type of unscented transformation to estimate state values for speed control without position sensor of a permanent-magnet synchronous motor. The principles of an unscented transformation and unscented Kalman filter are examined and their application is explained. Generally the mapping process can be divided into two type, such as a basic and a general form according to a scaling parameter. And computation time, the number of samples, and weights about samples are different from each other. But, there is no little information on the scaling parameter value how this value influences the system performance. Simulation and experimental results show the validity of the designed unscented transformation performance with the various scaling parameter values for sensorless motor drive.

  • In this paper, a novel approach estimating target's rotation velocity(RV) is proposed for inverse synthetic aperture radar(ISAR) cross-range scaling(CRS). Scale invariant feature transform(SIFT) is applied to two sequently generated ISAR images for extracting non-fluctuating scatterers. Considering the fact that the distance between target's rotation center(RC) and SIFT features is same, we can set a criterion for estimating RV. Then, the criterion is optimized through the proposed method based on particle swarm optimization(PSO) combined with exhaustive search method. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can precisely estimate RV of a scenario based maneuvering target without RC information. With the use of the estimated RV, ISAR image can be correctly re-scaled along the cross-range direction.

  • A theoretical scaling was made in order to acquire the ice resistance of ships in level ice. Ice resistance of ice-breaker Ermak was calculated by Kashteljan eequation and it's model test results were compared with full-scale measurements. Atkins's ice number and Norman Jones's dimensionless numbers were investigated and discussed.

A Study of Smoke Movement in Tunnel Fires (터널내에서 화재 발생시 연기 거동에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, reduced-scale experiments as the alternative to a real-scale fire test were conducted to understand fire properties in tunnel, and their results were compared with those of numerical simulation. The 1/20 scale experiments were conducted under the Froude scaling since smoke movement in tunnel is governed by buoyancy farce. A numerical simulations were on performed 3D unstructured meshes with PISO algorithm and buoyant plume models. Results showed that data was in reasonable agreement with the numerical data of smoke velocity, temperature distribution, and clear height.

  • In this paper, we propose a simple scaling algorithm for CDMA mobile communications where a voice traffic signals are transmitted by individual one of several data rates at every frames. The traditional method is based on using look-up table called SMT(symbol metric table), but the proposed algorithm is real-time direct scaling method through simple bit manipulations without lookup table. The bit error rate performance is calculated by computer simulation over AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels. From the results, it is shown that the proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional SMT method on Rayleigh channel by 0.3∼0.8dB, while achieving the less H/W complexity.

  • We propose a modified stochastic gradient-based (MSGB) filter showing that the filter is the solution to an optimization problem. This paper analyzes the properties of the MSGB filter that corresponds to the nonlinear adaptive filter with additional update terms, parameterized by the variable scaling factor. The variably parameterized MSGB filter plays a role iii connecting the fixed parameterized MSGB filter and the null parameterized MSGB filter through variably scaling parameter. The stability regions and misadjustments are shown. A system identification is utilized to perform the computer simulation and demonstrate the improved performance feature of the MSGB filter.

  • Recently tube hydroforming has been widely applied to the automotive industries due to its several advantages over conventional methods. In this paper, attention is paid to comparison of an implicit and an explicit finite element method widely used for numerical simulation of a hydroforming process. For an explicit FEM, a huge amount of computational time is required because of the very small time increment to solve a quasi-static problem. Hence, when an explicit FEM is used fDr a hydroforming process, it is general to convert the real problem to a virtual problem with a different processing time and mass density by appropriate scaling factor. However it is difficult to figure out how large the scaling should be adopted enough to ignore the dynamic effects and maintain the desired accuracy. In this paper, the comparison of the results obtained from both methods focus on the accuracy of the predicted geometrical shape and the stress with various scaling factors which are applied to analyze hydroforming process of an automobile lower arm.
