  • When the fuzzy controller apply to a real plant, We have not excepted result of a satisfactory control by modeling error and lacking information about an plant. In this case, we have to adjust the scale factors for improvement of the control performance and this method need a lot of time and cost for perform a trial and error. In this paper, we proposed the fuzzy controller with the automatic adjustment of scaling factors. It was improve upon the control performance using a adequate scale factor by fuzzy logic and normalizer. As the results of simulation through the second order plant, we confirmed that the proposed the fuzzy controller within the function of automatic scale get a good response compare with the fuzzy controller within the fixed scale factor.

  • The purpose of the current study was to validate the ECBQ (Early Childhood Behavior Questionnaire) scale. Data were collected from the 39 teachers of 338 18- to 36-month-old toddlers (181 boys and 157 girls) in Korea. The ECBQ scale was composed of 201 items (7-point Likert scale) with three dimensions. Reliability of this study was confirmed by Cronbach ${\alpha}$'s for ECBQ subscales ranging from .76 to .81. The results of the Exploratory Factor Analysis identified three dimensions of ECBQ : activity-non activity, extraversion-attention, negative affectivity-transformation. Results of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis supported the hierarchic model. There was a significant relationship between temperament and adjustment of infants. It was concluded that the ECBQ scale in general is acceptable for use in Korea.

  • The physical factor having a great influence among components of making values of profit model in apartment houses is equilibrium change of house and this study suggests an alternative of remodelling. It sets profit models including model dividing household of large scale into that of small scale using value making factor of apartment house and spatial composition techniques and model integrating households of small scale and converting them into those of large scale and finds that its economy is good as over 'average', evaluative value of economy is reduced as discount rate increases and economy of remodelling is superior.

  • Thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC) is a power electronic-based device that provides a fast and controllable series compensation of transmission line reactance. To match with laboratory facilities and for further research initiatives, a practical laboratory scale TCSC was designed and fabricated in this paper. The TCSC parameters were designed based on the terminologies such as percentage of compensation, boost factor and resonance factor. According to the design parameters, a prototype laboratory scale TCSC with a constant reactance controller was fabricated and tested. The measured results from the laboratory scale TCSC demonstrate the ability of the TCSC to provide rapid control of series reactance of a transmission line.

  • The purpose of this study was to validate the Children's Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale(CPIC) with Korean children. The subjects were 323 sixth graders from three elementary schools in Seoul. The CPIC Scale (Grych, Seid. & Fincham, 1992). the Children's Depression Inventory(CDI; Kovacs, 1981) and the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale( RCMAS: Reynolds & Richmond, 1978) were used as methodological instruments. The methods for data analyses were Pearson's r. factor analysis, and Cronbach's. Eight of the nine initial scales showed acceptable levels of internal consistency. The correlations among the CPIC subscales were assessed and the data were examined with factor analysis. Three factors were extracted and labeled 'Conflict Properties, Self-Blame,' and 'Threat', respectively. The validity of the CPIC subscales was assessed by examining correlations between the CPIC subscales and the CDI and the RCMAS, and the coefficients were significant. The three scales demonstrated good internal consistency (Cronbach's=.86, .81, .79).

  • The most widely used instrument to assess perceiving a calling, the CVQ(Calling and Vocational Questionnaire), is composed of three constructs: transcendent sermon, purposeful work, and prosocial orientation. Recently assessing perceiving a calling has received great attention and it is critical not only for job incumbents but also college students who are in the job search stage. The purpose of this study is to investigate measurement invariance of the Korean CVQ between employees and college students. 339 job incumbents and 252 college students participated in this study, and based on the multiple group confirmatory factor analysis from the structural equation model, we confirmed the measurement invariance between employees and college students at the scale level. Thus, the perceived calling scale is applicable to both employees and college students without biases. This study provided meaningful information in understanding calling, and we discussed limitations and future directions.

  • This study investigated the influential range of landmarks and the relationship between landmarks and cognition factor so as to offer basic data to be used for the effective use and the management of landmarks. In this study, eighteen famous landmark in Seoul were selected and analyzed. The result of this study can be summarized as follows : 1) First, eighteen determining elements of cognition factors were selected via documents survey. Second, general cognition factors of landmarks were analysed using these elements through questionnaires to specialists. As a result of factor analysis, historic cultural factor, scale factor, visual form factor, locational factor and uniqueness factor were revealed. 2) According to revealed cognition factor, eighteen landmarks are categorized into four types using MDS method via questionnaire to resident in Seoul city. These four types of landmarks are: type I that are recognized by historic cultural factor; type II that are recognized by scale factor; type III that are recognized by uniqueness factor; and type IV that are recognized by visual form factor. 3) As the result of regression, the influential range of landmarks were revealed at about a 10km radius(type I : 12km type II : whole area of Seoul city≒15km, typeIII : 8.7km, typeIV : 8.5km). 4) As a result of analysing the correlation between the influential range and the cognition factor through multiple linear regression analysis, the locational factor is the main factor affecting the influential range of landmarks in every type. The uniqueness factor comes next, which affects influential range partially. 5) Except type 1, as a result of analysing the correlation between influential range and the physical heights of landmarks, a quadratic equation is revealed, showing that the influential range of landmarks over 200 meters in height shows a radical change. Landmarks can be used as reinforcement tools of legibility, effective tools for landscape management and for the improvement of a community's image. This study on the influential range of landmarks and main cognition factor can be utilized as a landmark management plan and in urban planning, such as a new town plan.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate health effects of aircraft noise using THI(Todai Health Index). The questionnaire survey was conducted around the Gimpo International Airport in Seoul, Korea from 8 August to 9 September. Study subjects, 614 residents, were divided into three groups following to the aircraft noise level: under 75WECPNL(area(1)), $75{\sim}80$WECPNL(area(2)) and $80{\sim}85$WECPNL(area (3)). Twelve scale scores are converted to dichotomous variables based on scale scores of 90 percentile value or 10 percentile value in the control group. Logistic regression analysis taking twelve scores converted as the dependent variables and WECPNL(area), age, gender as the independent variables is conducted. Significant dose-response relationships are found in the scale of MOUT, DEPR, NERV, LIFE, where p denotes significance probability of trend test. Factor analysis was carried out and 2 factors are extracted which may be called "somatic factor" and "mental factor". The dose-response relationship with these factors and noise exposure is not clear. But strangely the odds ratio of mental factor in area 2 is the highest and the annoyance of this area is also higher than other areas.

  • Purpose: In this study the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Cancer Stigma Scale (KCSS) was evaluated. Methods: The KCSS was formed through translation and modification of Cataldo Lung Cancer Stigma Scale. The KCSS, Psychological Symptom Inventory (PSI), and European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire - Core 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) were administered to 247 men and women diagnosed with one of the five major cancers. Construct validity, item convergent and discriminant validity, concurrent validity, known-group validity, and internal consistency reliability of the KCSS were evaluated. Results: Exploratory factor analysis supported the construct validity with a six-factor solution; that explained 65.7% of the total variance. The six-factor model was validated by confirmatory factor analysis (Q (${\chi}^2/df$)= 2.28, GFI=.84, AGFI=.81, NFI=.80, TLI=.86, RMR=.03, and RMSEA=.07). Concurrent validity was demonstrated with the QLQ-C30 (global: r=-.44; functional: r=-.19; symptom: r=.42). The KCSS had known-group validity. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the 24 items was .89. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the 24-item KCSS has relatively acceptable reliability and validity and can be used in clinical research to assess cancer stigma and its impacts on health-related quality of life in Korean cancer patients.
