Evaluating methods for software asset have been made based on subjective evaluation criteria. In this study, we try to evaluate the usability of complex assets obtained from the previous measurement of the complexity of the asset management system. The evaluation used a scale provided by measuring logical complexity to measure the complexity of the asset, and evaluated the relationship with the usability of the software asset by measuring the index related to reusability. Therefore, it can be seen that HVs maintain a constant ratio according to the composition of various assets for the two types of assets and maintain the applied consistency. Therefore, it can be determined that an asset optimized in terms of usability can be applied consistently in the architectural design process while securing as much diversity as possible.
With rapid technological and market change, new product development (NPD) complexity is a significant issue that organizations continually face in their development projects. There are numerous factors, which cause development projects to become increasingly costly & complex. A product is more likely to be successfully developed and marketed when the complexity inherent in NPD projects is clearly understood and carefully managed. Based upon the previous studies, this study examines the nature and importance of complexity in developing new products and then identifies several issues in managing complexity. Issues considered include: definition of complexity : consequences of complexity; and methods for managing complexity in NPD projects. To achieve high performance in managing complexity in development projects, these issues need to be addressed, for example: A. Complexity inherent in NPD projects is multi-faceted and multidimensional. What factors need to be considered in defining and/or measuring complexity in a development project? For example, is it sufficient if complexity is defined only from a technological perspective, or is it more desirable to consider the entire array of complexity sources which NPD teams with different functions (e.g., marketing, R&D, manufacturing, etc.) face in the development process? Moreover, is it sufficient if complexity is measured only once during a development project, or is it more effective and useful to trace complexity changes over the entire development life cycle? B. Complexity inherent in a project can have negative as well as positive influences on NPD performance. Thus, which complexity impacts are usually considered negative and which are positive? Project complexity also can affect the entire organization. Any complexity could be better assessed in broader and longer perspective. What are some ways in which the long-term impact of complexity on an organization can be assessed and managed? C. Based upon previous studies, several approaches for managing complexity are derived. What are the weaknesses & strengths of each approach? Is there a desirable hierarchy or order among these approaches when more than one approach is used? Are there differences in the outcomes according to industry and product types (incremental or radical)? Answers to these and other questions can help organizations effectively manage the complexity inherent in most development projects. Complexity is worthy of additional attention from researchers and practitioners alike. Large-scale empirical investigations, jointly conducted by researchers and practitioners, will help gain useful insights into understanding and managing complexity. Those organizations that can accurately identify, assess, and manage the complexity inherent in projects are likely to gain important competitive advantages.

A study on the Manufactiring of High-Precision Linear Scale by the Use of He-Ne Laser Interference Of late, along with the advancement of procision machining technology, the reauirement of super-precision measurement increases as time goes on, and the precision and accuracy of standard scale which is a basis of procision measurement has been cognized as a oriterion of industrial development in a nation. Up to now, mechanical and chemical methods have been widely employed to carve scale lines on linear scale, and it is impossible for the linear scale manufactured by means of those methods to guarantee the measurement with sub-micron level owing to errors attended with various problems. And the measuring length also bears errors subjected to the influence of surroundings condition, and shows inefficient circumstances in measurement on the ground of the complexity of measuring procedure as well as massive measuring apparatus. Hence in this paper, we described on technology by which we can carve scale lines thru optical method under the condition of laboratory by using rhcoherence of He-Ne two-mode stabilized laser and in turn, put it to practical use as linear scale for the measurment of lengrh. In this researchin the case of setting scale interval to 20 .mu. m, we employed super-precision scale-carving device associated by Ar larser and acoustic optical modulator in lieu of flsahing lamp scale-carving device, and we consequently obtained superior linear scales carved with precision and accuracy of .+-. 0.3 .mu. m.

Small-scale ground mobile robots can access confined spaces where people or larger robots are unable. As the scale of the robot decreases, the relative size of the environment increases; therefore, maintaining the mobility of the small-scale robot is required. However, small-scale robots have limitations in using a large number of high-performance actuators, powerful computational devices, and a power source. Insects can effectively navigate various terrains in nature with their legged motion. Discrete contact with the ground and the foot enables creatures to traverse irregular surfaces. Inspired by the leg motion of the insect, researchers have developed small-scale robots and they implemented swing and lifting motions of the leg by designing leg linkages that can be adapted to small-scale robots. In this paper, we propose a leg linkage design for insect-inspired small-scale ground mobile robots. To use minimal actuation and reduce the control complexity, we designed a 1-DOF 3-dimensional leg linkage that can generate a proper leg trajectory using one continuous rotational input. We analyzed the kinematics of the proposed leg linkage to investigate the effect of link parameters on the foot trajectory.

Based on previous studies that cognitive complexity and coping flexibility are closely related with psychological adaptibility, it can be inferred that they can influence management ability of countertransference in counselling. This study focused on the influence of counselor's cognitive complexity and coping flexibility on the management ability of countertransference in counselling. The survey was conducted on 128 (female 108, male 20) counselors of college counseling center, general counseling center, schools and hospitals. The study employed flexibility scale measures, interpersonal discrimination test, and countertransference factors inventory. The results was that the level of cognitive complexity did not influence countertransference ability whereas the level of coping flexibility influenced countertransference management ability. In multiple regression, it was evidenced that coping flexibility influence countertransference management ability more than cognitive complexity. In sum, our study indicate that coping flexibility is important to enhance the management ability of countertransference in counselling, and that related counsellor training program should be developed in the future.
Use Case Point(UCP) is a measure of a software project size for software effort estimation based on use case. UCP measures the size of the software project based on the use case model. Because UCP is based on the use case model, it is intuitive and easy to obtain. Also, it does not require extra artifacts. On the other hand, UCP has some problems. UCP assumes every transaction has the same complexity. But, the number of operations and complexity of operations may affect complexity of transaction. In addition, UCP uses simple rating scale of complexity, but it may be inadequate for detailed estimates. To solve these problems, we suggest "Transaction Point(TP)", a size measure based on use case transaction. TP considers actors and operations in transaction. Complexity of transaction is based on the number of operations and complexity of operation, so it can support detailed estimation.

Changes in the styles of communities are leading of increases in the number of high-rise apartments and commercial-apartment structures. Tall high-rise structures, while presenting unique economies of scale and cost effectiveness, tend to be highly engineered and complex structures. In the event of a fire, this complexity in design also results in a complexity in the behavior of fire propagation and control. High-rise structures are among the most potentially dangerous due to the high population density in the building, and the inherent limitations on evacuation and on fire control services. One of the most critical points of fire propagation is the movement of fire through the outer wall structures. Controlling such propagation is essential in controlling the spread of the fire throughout the building itself, as well as controlling the potential for its spread to adjacent buildings. In this study, we will be examining the potential for fire control design and effects mitigation using a 1/4.5 scale model. The primary focus of the study will be the effects of extended balconies into the structure of high-rise apartments. The authors will also consider the effectiveness of reduced-scale model tests.
Over the past decade, the topic of work breakdown structure (WBS) has gained an increasing amount of attention from information technology Professionals as an effective tool for managing the complexity of a large-scale information system development project. It is a method for planning and controlling a large-scale information system development. A WBS provides the basis for project organization, cost estimation, task scheduling, and contract management. Based on the authors' practical experience, this paper discusses how to establish a specific WBS and some considerations for developing a well-defined WBS. The model of WBS suggested in this study will provide useful insight and guidelines for establishing the spec-ific WBS for a large-scale information systems development.
To study numerically the mechanical behaviors of advanced composite materials considering the microscopic phenomena as well as the macroscopic properties and behaviors, a multi-scale modeling and analysis by the mathematical homogenization method with the help of the finite element method(FEM) are reviewed. The hierarchical modeling strategy and the formulation are briefly described first to give some idea of the multi-scale framework. The latter half of this article focuses on the verification of the multi-scale analysis by the homogenization method in its applications to real advanced materials. The first example is the verification of the predicted macroscopic(homogenized) properties based on the microstructure of porous ceramics. In spite of the complexity of the random microstructure, the error between the predicted and the measured values was only 1%. Next, two applications to the process simulation of fiber reinforced polymer matrix composites are presented. The permeability characteristics are evaluated for sheared weave fabrics for resin transfer molding(RTM) simulation, and the thermoforming of FRTP sheet is analyzed considering the large deformation of the knit structure during the deep-draw forming was verified by comparison with the experimental results.

Formidable growth of Internet technologies has revealed challenging issues about its scale and performance evaluation. Modeling and simulation play a central role in the evaluation of the behavior and performance of the large-scale network systems. Large numbers of nodes affect simulation performance, simulation execution time and scalability in a weighty manner. Most of the existing simulators have numerous problems such as size, lack of system theoretic approach and complexity of modeled network. In this work, a scalable discrete-event modeling approach is described for studying networks' scalability and performance traits. Key fundamental attributes of Internet and its protocols are incorporated into a set of simulation models developed using the Discrete Event System Specification (DEVS) approach. Large-scale network models are simulated and evaluated to show the benefits of the developed network models and approaches.
