In this paper, we propose a redistribution mechanism of the content that is adapted to devices, which may have different display size and computing capabilities, in home network. The proposed system introduces a mechanism that the encrypted content compressed by H.264/SVC(Scalable Video Coding) scheme which has been standardized recently is provided to the device into a level of content suitable to each device capability. To efficiently superdistribute SVC content, this paper defines three requirements and proposes redistribution mechanism which satisfies these requirements using another licence that it is called 'Ticket'. Our system allows devices to redistribute the content freely in the domain using domain key.
A blind video watermarking scheme for providing safety, authenticity, and copyright protection is proposed in this paper, which is robust to MPEG-4 SVC and multimedia transcoding. In proposed method, embedding and detecting of watermark is performed based on base layer with considering spatial SVC. To be robust from temporal SVC, our method embeds repeatedly a permutated character with ordering number per one frame. Also for robustness from multimedia transcoding and FGS, the method is embedded watermark in low middle frequency of each frame adaptively based on DCT in ROI. Through experimental results, invisibility of the watermark is confirmed and robustness of the watermark against the spatial SVC, temporal SVC, FGS and video transcoding between MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 SVC is also verified.

In this paper we have proposed a linear time algorithm for solving the minimum sharable-bandwidth tree construction problem. The public-shared network is a user generated infrastructure on which a user can access the Internet and transfer data from any place via access points with sharable bandwidth. Recently, the idea of constructing the SVC video streaming delivery system on public-shared network has been proposed. To send video stream from the stream server to clients on public-shared network, a tree structure is constructed. The problem of constructing a tree structure to serve the video streaming requests by using minimum amount of sharable bandwidth has been shown to be NP-hard. The previously published algorithms for solving this problem are either unable to find solutions frequently or less efficient. The experimental results showed that our algorithm is excellent both in the success rate of finding solutions and in the quality of solutions.
In this paper, we present a prototype of view-switchable high-definition (HD) multi-view video transmission system. One of the major bottlenecks for the multi-view broadcasting system has been the hardware cost and transmission bandwidth. The proposed system focuses on software-based design, transmission over IP multicast networks, and flexible system configuration to address aforementioned problems. In the proposed system, we implement software stereo HD multiplexing, demultipiexing and decoding, and take advantage of high-speed broadband convergence networks to deliver HD video in real-time. Moreover, the proposed system can be scalable and flexible in terms of the number of views. Furthermore, in order to display any multiview video on 3D display monitor, a face tracking system is integrated to our system. Therefore, users can watch the different stereoscopic video at its related locations.

Given a video frame in terms of its 8${\times}$8 block-DCT coefncients, we wish to obtain a downsized or upsized version of this Dame also in terms of 8${\times}$8 block DCT coefficients. The DCT being a linear unitary transform is distributive over matrix multiplication. This fact has been used for downsampling video frames in the DCT domains in Dugad's, Mukherjee's, and Park's methods. The downsampling and upsampling schemes combined together preserve all the low-frequency DCT coefficients of the original image. This implies tremendous savings for coding the difference between the original frame (unsampled image) and its prediction (the upsampled image). This is desirable for many applications based on scalable encoding of video. In this paper, we extend the earlier works to various DCT sizes, when we downsample and then upsample of an image by a factor of two. Through experiment, we could improve the PSM values whenever we increase the DCT block size. However, because the complexity will be also increase, we can say there is a tradeoff. The experiment result would provide important data for developing fast algorithms of compressed-domain image/video resizing.
In these days, rapid advances of the computer system and the high speed network have made the multimedia services popularized among various applications and services in the internet. Internet live broadcasting, a part of multimedia services, makes it possible to provide not only existing broadcasting services including audio and video but also interactive communications which also expand application scopes by freeing from both temporal and spatial limitation. In the Paper, an interned Personal-live broadcasting server system is developed by allowing individual users to actively create or join live-broadcasting services with such basic multimedia devices as a PC camera and a sound card. As the number of broadcasters and participants increases, concurrent multiple channels are established and groups are to be expanded. The system should also guarantee High Availability (HA) for continuous services even in the presence of partial failure of the cluster. Furthermore, a transmission mode switching is supported to consider network environments in the user system.

Since the resolutions of videos increase rapidly, there are continuing needs for effective video compression methods despite an increase in the transmission bandwidth. In order to satisfy such a demand, a reconstructive video coding (RVC) method by using a super resolution has been proposed. Since RVC reduces the resolution of the input video, when frames are compressed to the same size, the number of bits per pixel increases, thereby reducing coding artifacts caused by video coding. However, RVC method using super resolution is not effective in all target bitrates. Comparing the size of the loss generated while downsizing the resolution and the size of the loss caused by the video compression, only when the size of loss generated in the video compression is larger, RVC method can perform the improved compression performance compared to direct video coding. In particular, since HEVC has considerably higher compression performance than the previous standard video codec, it can be experimentally confirmed that the compression distortions become larger than the distortions of downsizing the resolution only in the very low-bitrate conditions. In this paper, we applied RVC based HEVC in various video types and measured the target bitrates that RVC method can be effectively applied.

Currently, Scalable Video Coding (SVC) is being standardized. By using scalability of SVC, QoS managed video streaming service is enabled in heterogeneous networks even with only one original bitstream. But current SVC is insufficient to dynamic video conversion for the scalability, thereby the adaptation of bitrate to meet a fluctuating network condition is limited. In this paper, we propose dynamic full-scalability conversion method for QoS adaptive video streaming in H.264/AVC SVC. To accomplish full scalability dynamic conversion, we propose corresponding bitstream extraction, encoding and decoding schemes. On the encoder, we newly insert the IDR NAL to solve the problems of spatial scalability conversion. On the extractor, we analyze the SVC bitstream to get the information which enable dynamic extraction. By using this information, real time extraction is achieved. Finally, we develop the decoder so that it can manage changing bitrate to support real time full-scalability. The experimental results showed that dynamic full-scalability conversion was verified and it was necessary for time varying network condition.
In this paper, improved contour region coding method is proposed to accomplish better depth map coding performance. First of all, in order to use correlation between color video and depth map, a structure in SVC is applied to 3DVC. This can reduce bit-rate of the depth map while supporting the video to be transferred via various collection of network. As the depth map is mainly used to synthesize videos from different views, corrupted contour region can damage the overall quality of video. We hereby adapt a new differential quantization method when separating the contour region. The experimental results show that the proposed method can improve video quality by 0.06~0.5dB which translate the bit rate saving by 0.1~1.15%, when compared to the reference software.
Seamless streaming of multimedia content that ensures Quality of Service over heterogeneous networks has been a desire for many multimedia services, for which the multimedia contents should be adapted to usage environments such as network characteristics, terminal capabilities, and user preferences. Scalability in video coding is a good feature to meet the requirement of heterogeneous networks. In this paper, we propose a dynamic adaptation scheme of H.264/AVC SVC bit-stream using the MPEG-21 Digital Item Adaptation (DIA) tool. MPEG-21 DIA framework provides systematic solutions in choosing an adaptation operation to given conditions and supports interoperable video adaptation. The experiment results show that the proposed adaptation scheme provides QoS-enabled delivery and consumption of SVC with time-varying constraints of network, terminal, and user preference, in a robust and efficient way. In particular, the proposed adaptation scheme is proved to work well with very low delay under the condition that the variation rate of the given network bandwidth is upto 62%.
