Antimony doped tin oxide (ATO) thin films on glass substrate were prepared by the chemical solution deposition (CSD) method, using sol-gel solution synthesized by non-alkoxide precursors and the sol-gel route. The crystallinity and electrical properties of ATO thin films were investigated as a function of the annealing condition (both annealing environments and temperatures), and antimony (Sb) doping concentration. Electrical resistivity, carrier concentration, Hall mobility and optical transmittance of ATO thin films were improved by Sb doping up to 5~8 mol% and annealing in a low vacuum atmosphere, compared to the undoped tin oxide counterpart. 5 mol% Sb doped ATO film annealed at $550^{\circ}C$ in a low vacuum atmosphere showed the highest electrical properties, with electrical resistivity of about $8{\sim}10{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, and optical transmittance of ~85% in the visible range. Our research demonstrates the feasibility of low-cost solution-processed transparent conductive oxide thin films, by controlling the appropriate doping concentration and annealing conditions.

Effect of co-doping on optical and electrical properties of $SnO_2$ based thin films were studied. $SnO_2$ ceramic targets with up to 50mol% $CuSb_2O_6$ were prepared by sintering mixed-oxide compact in the temperature range of $1100^{\circ}C{\sim}1300^{\circ}C$ in air. Thin films were then deposited onto glass substrates by pulsed laser deposition where substrate temperature was maintained in the range of $500{\sim}650^{\circ}C$ with oxygen pressure of 3m~7.5mTorr and energy density of $1Jcm^{-2}$. It was found that with the increase amount of dopant, the electrical properties of thin films tended to improve with the smallest resistivity value obtained at about 8mol% doping, further increase, however, usually impaired the optical transmission in the visible range.
$CoSb_3$ Skutterudites materials have high potential for thermoelectric application at mid-temperature range because of their superior thermoelectric properties via control of charge carrier density and substitution of foreign atoms. Improvement of thermoelectric properties is expected for the ternary solid solution developed by substitution of foreign atoms having different valances into the $CoSb_3$ matrix. In this study, ternary solid solutions with a stoichiometry of $Co_{1-x}Ni_xSb_3$ x = 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, $CoSb_{3-y}Te_y$, y = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 were prepared by the Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) system. Before the SPS synthesis, the ingots were synthesized by vacuum induction melting and followed by annealing. For phase analysis X-ray powder diffraction patterns were checked. All the samples were confirmed as single phase; however, with samples that were more doped than the solubility limit some secondary phases were detected. All the samples doped with Ni and Te atoms showed a negative Seebeck coefficient and their electrical conductivities increased with the doping amount up to the solubility limit. For the samples prepared by SPS the maximum value for dimensionless figure of merit reached 0.26, 0.42 for $Co_{0.9}Ni_{0.1}Sb_3$, $CoSb_{2.8}Te_{0.2}$ at 690 K, respectively. These results show that the SPS method is effective in this system and Ni/Te dopants are also effective for increasing thermoelectric properties of this system.

The valence band maximum (VBM) and conduction band minimum (CBM) of Al-doped GaInAsSb alloys substrated on GaSb are calculated by using an analytic approximation based on the tight binding method. The relative positions of the VBM and CBM between Al-GaInASSb and GaSb determine band alignement type, valence band offset (VBO) and conductin band offset (CBO) for the heterojunctions. In this study, aluminium doping is assumed to be substituted in the cation site and limited up to 20 % because it can easily oxidize and degrade materials. It is found that the Al-doped alloys exhibit type-II band alignments over the entire composition range and make the band gaps increase, whereas the VBO and CBO decrease. The decreasing rate of VBO is higher than that of CBO, which implies the Al components play a decisive role in controlling electrons at the interface. The Al-dopled GaInAsSb alloy has a direct band gap induced by $E({\Gamma})$ with a considerable distance from the E(L) and E(X), however, $E({\Gamma})$ approaches to E(L) and E(X) in the high Sb concentration (Sb > 0.7-0.8) which might affect the electron mobility and degrade the optical quality.

Long-wave infrared detectors using the type-II InAs/GaSb strained superlattice (T2SL) material system with the nBn structure were designed and fabricated. The band gap energy of the T2SL material was calculated as a function of the thickness of the InAs and GaSb layers by the Kronig-Penney model. Growth of the barrier material ($Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}Sb$) incorporated Te doping to reduce the dark current. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the $1^{st}$ satellite superlattice peak from the X-ray diffraction was around 45 arcsec. The cutoff wavelength of the fabricated device was ${\sim}10.2{\mu}m$ (0.12 eV) at 80 K while under an applied bias of -1.4 V. The measured activation energy of the device was ~0.128 eV. The dark current density was shown to be $1.0{\times}10^{-2}A/cm^2$ at 80 K and with a bias -1.5 V. The responsivity was 0.58 A/W at $7.5{\mu}m$ at 80 K and with a bias of -1.5 V.

The encapsulated induction melting and hot pressing were employed to prepare Fe-doped $CoSb_3$ skutterudites and their thermoelectric properties were investigated. Single phase $\delta-CoSb_3$ was successfully obtained by the subsequent heat treatment at 773K for 24 hours. Iron atoms acted as electron acceptors by substituting cobalt atoms. Thermoelectric properties were remarkably improved by the appropriate doping. $Co_{0.7}Fe_{0.3}Sb_3$ was found as an optimum composition for best thermoelectric properties in this work.

The PTCR devices of BaTiO3 doped with Sb2O3, SiO2 were prepared by Liquid Addition Method(LPAM) where doping sources were used in the forms of Liquid. The amounts of doping in LPMA is smaller than that in solid state mixing method. Also the doping process in LPMA is very suitable for BaTiO3-based PTCR devices because it is easy to obtain homogeneous mixing and reproductivity. By optimizing the doping condition in BaTiO3 system, (0.09 mol% Sb2O3, 0.25 wt% SiO2 and 0.02 wt% MnO2) it was possible to fabricate BaTiO3-based PTCR devices whee the room-temperature resistivity and specific resistivity were 15{{{{ OMEGA }}cm and 2$\times$106 respectively.

In this study, we have investigated the effects of Cr dopant on the sintering and electrical properties of ZnO-$Sb_2O_3$ (ZS) ceramics for varistor application. Spinel phases including $\alpha-$ and $\beta$-type was formed at ZS system and $\alpha$-spinel was stabilized by Cr doping in ZS system. Densification of ZS and ZSCr system was retarded to $1000^{\circ}C$ by the formation of spinel at $800^{\circ}C$. The morphology and its distribution of spinel phases in ZS system was homogeneous but disturbed by Cr doping. In ZSCr the densification of ZnO compared with ZS system was more retarded by low concentration of Zn interstitial defects induced by Cr doping in addition to the effect of spinel phase formation. The defects in each system were identified as attractive coulombic center (ZS: 0.13 eV, ZSCr: 0.12 eV) and singly charged oxygen vacancy $V_0^{\cdot}$ (ZSCr: 0.33 eV). In all ZS and ZSCr system have week varistor behavior by the formation of double Schottky barrier at grain boundary but its stability of barrier was very sensitive to sintering temperature.

The induction melting was employed to prepare Nb-doped $CoSb_3$ skutterudites and their thermoelectric properties were investigated. Single phase $\delta-CoSb_3$ was successfully obtained by induction melting and subsequent annealing at $400^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs in vacuum. The positive signs of Seebeck coefficients for all the specimens revealed that Nb atoms acted as p-type dopants by substituting Co atoms. Electrical conductivity decreased and then increased with increasing temperature, indicating mixed conduction behavior. Electrical conductivity increased by Nb doping, and it was saturated at high temperature. Maximum value of the thermoelectric power factor was shifted to higher temperature with increasing the amount of Nb doping, mainly originated from the high Seebeck coefficient around mixed conduction temperature and high electrical conductivity.
