Rehabilitations of reinforced concrete(RC) structures using advanced fibre-reinfored plastic(FRP) composites has become very popular in last few years. Typical method of strengthening strategy using FRP composite is bonding the CFRP plate or sheet on the surface of existing concrete structures. Many researches, however, have shown that bonding FRP plate or sheet on the surface of concrete has tendancy to debond prematurely induced by stress concentrations at the end of the plate. In order for overcoming the premature failure, the filling-up method which places FRP-rod into the existing concrete sawing groove has been developed. Through filling-up test results, aims of this research is to investigate the efficiencies of the filling-up method and is to determine the availabilities of traditional flexural theories that has provided all over the world.

As the various industrial machinery has come into being by development of industrial technology, the productivity of the basic industrial machinery has improved. However, at the same time, noise from various industrial machinery disturbs the quiet environment. There are 35 kinds of the noise emission machinery defined in the noise and vibration control act according to the horse power and the number of machinery. These were classified in 1992, and the characteristics of the noise emission machinery may be different from the past one. So we need to investigate the characteristics of the noise emitted by machinery to control it rightly. We measured sound intensity of 32 noise emission machinery to calculate the sound power levels of those and investigated the characteristics of the sound power level of those according to the frequency. We found that the forging machine, concrete pipe and pile making machine, sawing machine, etc. are noisy. The generator, the concrete pipe and pile making machine, etc. emit the low frequency noise, but the molding machine, the stone cutter, the metal cutter, etc. emit the high frequency noise.

Recently, as the alternatives to preserve environment such as effective usage of wastes or unusable resources are drawing attentions, researches and measures for the two tasks, which are reuse of waste wood and development of eco-friendly materials, are being examined and established in various fields. However, they are still insufficient. Therefore, in this study, for the efficient application of waste woods and eco-friendly effects, mortar was produced using sawdust as the waste wood and mineral material cement for combination, in order to produce inorganic boards using waste woods, which were made when sawing. This study attempted to suggest a basic material about the physical properties of mortar, which used waste woods, after examining the features of wood mixture rate, water-cement rate, congelation according to the mixture rate of the setting accelerator, specific gravity, compression intensity, and bending intensity as experiment factors.
This study was carried out to investigate the wood properties for development the proper uses of lesser-known tree species. The tested species are Kebambang(Pentace sp.), Bawang-bawang(Dysoxylum alliaceum Bl .), Garu buaya( Gonystylus brunescens A. Shaw)grown in Indonesia. fundamental wood properties such as anatomical, physical, mechanical and chemical properties and characteristics related to wood processing were examined. The results are summarized as follows : The woods of these species are diffuse porous, coarse textured, and interlocked grained. The heartwood of Kebambang is distinguished clearly to the sapwood, but the heartwood of other species are not distinguished clearly to the softwood. The woods of Kebambang and Bawang-bawang have the moderate weight density and the low strength properties, but Garu buaya has the high weight density and the high strength properties. The woods of these species has high shrinkage. The sawing characteristics of Kebambang are excellent but the other species are moderate. The machining characteristics by planer and drying characteristics of these species are moderate. These woods has poor characteristics in bending processing and decay durability. The wood of Bawang-bawang has high content of the extractives and lignin.

The susceptibility of radiata pine sapwood to fungal attack and the ability of selected fungicides to control colonization of sapstain and mold fungi on green radiata pine sapwood were evaluated. Radiata pine sapwood was highly susceptible to fungal staining, suggesting that prompt application of fungicides after sawing is essential for preventing fungal colonization. The ability of commercial fungicides to prevent fungal discoloration on radiata pine sapwood was assessed using an accelerated 6-week test on small samples in the laboratory, and in field tests using bulk-piled boards exposed outdoors for 6 weeks during summer rainy season. In laboratory tests, Hylite extra provided excellent protection against fungal discoloration even at the lowest concentrations. Hylite clear, Britewood S, and NP-1 Plus provided good short-term protection(2 to 4 weeks), but higher chemical loadings were, required for long-term protection(6 weeks). Woodguard produced little or no protection over the test periods. In field tests, Kathon 893 provided markedly superior protection at the concentration of 0.5 percent or higher. NP-1 Plus provided relatively good protection at all concentrations evaluated. Hylite extra was effective only for short-term protection(2 to 4 weeks) at all concentrations tested, but higher solution strengths were needed for longterm protection.
The crystallization behaviour and the machinability of mica glass-ceramics with the content of F1 were studied. The material was made from the $K_2O-MgO-Al_2O_3-B_2O_3-SiO_2-F$ glasses by the heattreatment at 80$0^{\circ}C$-110$0^{\circ}C$ where the content of F-1 was changed in the range from 1, 3wt% to 6.1wt%. X-ray diffraction phase analysis and optical observation were adopted to study the crystallization behaviour. The machinability was measured by a manual sawing test and MOR. The crystal phases of these glass-ceramics identified by XRD were chondrodite fluoborite and norbergite at low temperature but fluorophlogopite at high temperature. The crystallization of glasses containing 1.3wt% -2.5wt% F-1 were predominately controlled by surface crystallization while the crystallization of glasses containing 3.8 wt% -6.1wt% F-1 were controlled by volume crystallization. Among the test the best machinability and strength value were obtained from those specimens contained fluoride 4.2wt% -4.4wt% and when the heattreatment was performed at 95$0^{\circ}C$-110$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours.
Personal and static sampling for formaldehyde, wood dust and noise monitoring, in accordance to the equipment running on the day, were carried out throughout wood panel manufacturing process. Even though the exposure level of formaldehyde and wood dust were below than exposure criteria, but the personal protective equipment(PPE) for those should be worn to everyone in the process because of its potential characteristics like carcinogenicity. Also a few local air extraction system above the cutting, grinding sections and organic blending room should be required. Most of the exposures of noise exposure were exceeded permitted exposure criteria, in case of Hopper operators, exposed to maximally 94dB(A) as LAeq 8hr, therefore active controls like PPE, monitoring, isolation etc. are necessary. The main sources of noise were caused on compressed air of the machinery, radio sound and operation noise like running machines, conveying, cutting, sawing, moving vehicles, storing and so on. For the comparison of control criteria in each country, the permitted exposure standards for above hazardous materials and noise in Korea, ACGIH and Australia were discussed. We have recognized that the Korean criteria should be discussed urgently to give the right information to employee and modified, if it is necessary.
This study employed the modified fouling index (MFI) to determine the performance of a two-step recycling system - a membrane filtration integrated laminar flow water storage (LFWS) tank followed by an ion exchange process to reclaim ultrapure water (UPW) from the wastewater generated from semiconductor wafer backgrinding and sawing processes. The first step consisted of the utilization of either ultrafiltration (UF) or nanofiltration (NF) membranes to remove solids in the wastewater where the second step consisted of an ion exchanger to further purify the filtrate. The system was able to produce high purity water in a continuous operating mode. However, higher recycling cost could be incurred due to membrane fouling. The feed wastewater used for this study contained high concentration of fine particles with low organic and ionic contents, hence membrane fouling was mainly attributed to particulate deposition and cake formation. Based on the MFI results, a LFWS tank that was equipped with a turbulence reducer with a pair of auto-valves was developed and found effective in minimizing fouling by discharging concentrated wastewater prior to any membrane filtration. By comparing flux behaviors of the improved system with the conventional system, the former maintained a high flux than the latter at the end of the experiment.

This study is conducted to investigate the factors affecting lumber conversion rate of sawmill industry in South Korea. Data were obtained from the survey of 38 sawmills in all geographic regions of South Korea. The variables examined in this study were region, softwood/hardwood log, domestic/imported/both log, the number of power-driven carriages (PDC) installed, the year when and country where PDCs was manufactured, the horse power of PDC, the number of labors required to operate each PDC, the sawing capacity of mill (mill size), and the types of major product and by-products. The lumber recovery factor (LRF) of sawmills were significantly influenced by the origin of logs, level of PDC automation, sawmill size, and size of logs (measured in diameter and length) while not by the location of the mill, types of major product and by-product, log species, and characteristics of PDC. Although these results provide useful information for understanding the technological characteristics of the Korean sawmill industry, further investigation with larger sample is necessary to reveal the more reliable characteristics of sawmill industry in South Korea.

Purpose: Lateral osteotomy is an essential step in the correction of nasal bony asymmetry. Direct visualization allows accurate repositioning of the nasal bones compared to blind techniques, which require precision and manual dexterity. We propose direct visualization procedures in open corrective rhinoplasty. Methods: The technique was used on 16 patients. All patients underwent open rhinoplasty with a columellar incision. The marginal incisions were extended on either side to allow access to the piriform aperture. A double hook was used to caudally retract the lower lateral cartilages and the fibrous connections between the upper and lower lateral cartilages were released until the piriform aperture was visualized. Through the incision, lateral osteotomy was performed using a reciprocating saw at that time with direct visualization. Additional procedures including augmentation rhinoplasty, hump resection, septoplasty and tip plasty were performed simultaneously. Results: This method provided excellent exposure to the lateral nasal bones and allowed the lateral osteotomy to be carried out precisely using the reciprocating saw. Conclusion: This extended open rhinoplasty method is suitable for most individuals, allowing a wide surgical field.
