This study was to identify the utilization of home care service and home care nursing satisfaction for clients with cancer who had completed secondary and tertiary chemotherapy session. Raw data was collected by reviewing charts and questionnaire of 23 clients with cancer between September, 2002 and November 2002 at an university hospital located in Seoul. Korea. The result are as follows: 1. Characteristics in the use of home care: After applying for home care service, patients were visiting an average of 1.88 days later. The major purpose of using home care service was to help recovery after hospitalization or to maintain present health. The average period for home care service was 14.6 days, with 4 visits over this period, for 35.78 minutes per visit. 2. Content of home care service: A total of 47 items of service were provided - basic nursing care, education and counseling, and therapeutic nursing care. On every visit, an average of 19 items of home care service were provided, and the majority (7 items) were therapeutic nursing care. 3. Satisfaction with home care services: Satisfaction was very high, an average of 3.88 on a scale of 4 points. Both patients and families expressed high satisfaction with all sub-domains of nursing care: guidance by the home care nurses, knowledge, skill, attitude, interpersonal relationships, emotional support, and accessibility. Objectives: While the risk of depression is expected to substantially increase among older adults receiving community care, leisure life satisfaction can be regarded as a key component in enhancing the mental health of those receiving community care. However, it is not yet known whether community care utilization increases the risk of depression, or what role is played by leisure life satisfaction in these settings. This study investigated the relationship between community care utilization and depression, as well as the main effect and the moderating role of leisure life satisfaction on the link between community care utilization and depression among older adults. Methods: This study, using the 2019 Korean Welfare Panel Survey, conducted multiple regression analysis on data from 4494 elderly people aged 65 years or older. Results: After controlling for potential covariates, older community care recipients were more likely to report symptoms of depression than those who did not receive community care. Meanwhile, leisure life satisfaction was negatively associated with depression in older adults. The test for interaction between community care utilization and leisure life satisfaction revealed that leisure life satisfaction significantly attenuated the link between depression and community care utilization. Conclusions: The findings of this study imply that leisure life satisfaction could play a meaningful role in improving the mental health of older adults receiving community care. Welfare policies affecting older adults should consider leisure life satisfaction as an important resource for reducing depression in community care settings.

Background: Nursing home resident care is an ongoing topic of public discussion, and there is great interest in improving the quality of resident care. This study investigated the association between nursing home employees' job satisfaction and residents' satisfaction with care and medical outcomes. Methods: Employee and resident satisfaction were measured by questionnaire in 175 skilled nursing facilities in the eastern United States from 2005 to 2009. Facility-level data on residents' pressure ulcers, medically unexplained weight loss, and falls were obtained from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Long-Term Care Minimum Data Set. The association between employee satisfaction and resident satisfaction was examined with multiple and multilevel linear regression. Associations between employee satisfaction and the rates of pressure ulcers, weight loss, and falls were examined with simple and multilevel Poisson regression. Results: A 1-point increase in overall employee satisfaction was associated with an increase of 17.4 points (scale 0-100) in the satisfaction of residents and family members (p < 0.0001) and a 19% decrease in the incidence of resident falls, weight loss, and pressure ulcers combined (p < 0.0001), after adjusting for staffing ratio and percentage of resident-days paid by Medicaid. Conclusion: Job satisfaction of nursing home employees is associated with lower rates of resident injuries and higher resident satisfaction with care. A supportive work environment may help increase quality of care in the nation's nursing homes.
Purpose: The main purpose of this study was to compare the level of satisfaction of patients with nursing care received, and of nurses with nursing care provided to their patients. Another purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between job satisfaction by the nurses and satisfaction with nursing care they provide. Method: A self-report questionnaire developed by Yoo & Hong (1999) was used to measure patient and nurse satisfaction. The participants were 147 patients and 133 nurses and data were collected from October 23 to October 30, 2002. Data analysis was done uslng SPSS WIN 11.0. Result: The average score for patient satisfaction was 2.47 (maximum score 5.0) and for nurses, 2.20. This difference was statistically significant. The patients gave high scores on care related personal hygiene, but they gave low scores for critical nursing areas such as following appropriate procedure for administering medications. No significant relationship was found between satisfaction with their nursing care by the nurses and satisfaction with the job. Conclusion: Even though the patient scores were significantly higher than nurses', the overall average score was very low and critical nursing actions received the lowest scores. It is necessary to identify areas in need of improvement and develop continuing education programs for nurses.
The purpose of the study was to compare both the nursing care satisfaction and the image of nurses as experienced by home health care clients and hospitalized clients. For the descriptive survey study. data were collected from 69 home heath care clients and 342 in-patients in a university hospital. The tools used for the study were modified by Quality Patient Care Scale(Wandelt & Ager. 1974) and Image of Nurses (송인자, 1993). The data were analyzed using Pearson Correlation. Scheffe test. factor analysis. t-test. and ANOVA. The major findings were as follows: Regarding nursing care satisfaction, the mean score of total nursing care satisfaction in home health care clients was 3.28 out of 4.0. Among five domains, the domain with the highest score was the psychosocial domain, followed by the general. the professional. the physical. and the communication domain. The level of nursing care satisfaction was not significantly different according to demographic variables except for age: the age group of 41-60 showed the highest score (p<0.05). The mean score of total nursing care satisfaction in hospitalized clients was 2.95 out of 4.0. Among five domains, the domain with the highest score was the psychosocial domain, followed by the physical and the communication. the professional. and the general domain. The level of nursing care satisfaction was not significantly different according to demographic variables except age: the higher the age the higher the score (p<0.05). The levels of nursing care satisfaction in all five domains were significantly higher in home health care clients than in hospitalized clients(p=0.0005). Regarding image of nurses, the mean score of total image of nurses in home health care clients was 3.32 out of 4.0. Among four domains, the domain with the highest score was the sincerity domain, followed by the kindness. the spirit. and the knowledge and skill domain. The level of image of nurses was not significantly different according to demographic variables. The mean score of total image of nurses in hospitalized clients was 3.05 out of 4.0. Among four domains. the domain with the highest score was the sincerity domain, followed by the kindness, the knowledge and skill, and the spirit domain. The level of image of nurses was not significantly different according to demographic variables. The levels of image of nurses in all four domains were significantly higher in home health care clients than in hospitalized clients (p=0.001). Both the levels of nursing care satisfaction and image of nurses, part of an evaluation for quality of nursing care were significantly higher in home health care clients than in hospitalized clients. In light of the findings, we could consider that home health care nurses provided client-centered comprehensive nursing care. However, nurses need to have methods that more promote the social recognition of the image of nurses and nursing care services as well as professional knowledge and skills.
