A Study on the Job Satisfaction and It's related Variables (직무만족(職務滿足)과 관련(關聯) 변인(變人)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • This study was conducted to investigate the job satisfaction of the dental technicians and evalate the relationship between it’s scores and certain variables. One hundred eighty dental technicians were sampled from 300 among the 2552 dental technicians by wide distribution method, in September 1990. Data were collected by administering the instrument, the researcher developed for measuring the independent and dependent variables. The statistical methods utilized in this study were one-way analysis of variance, correlation and multiple regression analysis. The data were analyzed by SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science), utilizing PC. The statistical significance was tested at 0.05 level. The major findings of the study were as follows : 1. The job satisfaction measuring instrument, the researcher developed, could measured the job satisfaction of dental technicians. The Maximum score of the instrument was 125, the highest score of dental technicians was 106, the lowest score was obtained 38, the mean score was 72.228 and standard deviation was 12.804. 2. The personal variables of dental technicians were related with the job satisfaction scores. The job satisfaction scores were positively correlated, at 0.01 level, with the scores of age(r=0.379), year(r=0.218), aptitude(r=0.415), marry(r=0.202), income(r=0.381), career(r=0.316). 3. The family variables scores of dental technicians were not correlated with the job satisfaction scores. 4. The personal characteristics of dental technicians were related with the job satisfaction. The job satisfaction score were positively correlated beyond the significant level, with the cheerfulness scores(r=0.398) and stability scores(r=0.224). 5. The job-related variables of the dental technicians were related with the job satisfaction scores. The correlation coefficient between job satisfaction scores and turnover scores was r=0.23, and quantity scores was r=0.300.

  • The purpose of present study was to investigate the effect of sex and sex role identity on marital satisfaction. The short-from Bem Sex Role Inventory(BSRI) and Marital satisfaction Scale (MSS) were administered to the married men (n=90) and women (n=130) in Pohaing City. The data were analysed by two-way ANOVA and the Scheff method of multiple comparison. Major findings were as follows: 1. Marital satisfaction was significantly related to sex role identity rather than to sex: The androgynous group reported the highest marital satisfaction scores, whereas the undifferentiated group did the lowest scores. 2. There was no significant sex difference in marital satisfaction socres among the masculine, androgynous, and undifferentiated groups except the feminine one. Only in the feminie group, males who had high feminity scores reported high marital satisfaction scores, whereas females who had high femininity scores reported low marital satisfaction scores.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data necessary for the effective performance of administrative readjustment and demend and suppley medical care service by of analysing the extent of satisfaction of outpatient toward hospital. The subjects of this study are the 832 outpatients (398 male and 434 female) visit to 2 different university hospital in Seoul. The data were collected through self-administered techniques with a structured questionnaire from Oct.21 to Nov. 9, 1982. All the collected data were analyzed by means of percentage, mean and standard deviation. The results were as follows: 1. Those who are between :30 and 39 of age constitute the largest part of them as being 31.7 percent of the whole body. 40.0 percent of them graduated from the college and they take the lergest part of those who answered the questionnaire. 43.3 percent of the patients visit to the hospital by the reason for the reputation of a doctor and they take the largest part of the subjects. 2. The extent of satisfaction for hospital system. The mean extent of satisfaction for hospital system was revealed 2.50 scores, which is evaluated to neutral. The mean extent of satisfaction for waiting time of prescribed medicine presented 1.51 scores, the lowest among the component of hospital system, which is evaluated to high dissatisfaction. 3. The extent of satisfaction for the environment and facilities of hospital. The mean extent of satisfaction for the environment and facilities of hospital was revealed 3.08 scores, which is evaluated to moderate satisfaction. 4. The extent of satisfaction for doctor and other hospital employees. The mean extent of satisfaction for doctor and other hospital employees was revealed 3.05 scores which is evaluated to moderate satisfaction. The mean extent of satisfaction for doctor presented 3.39 scores, the highest among the components of doctor and other hospital employees. 5. The extent of satisfaction for charge of hospital. The mean extent of satisfaction for charge of hospital was revealed 2.74 scores, which is evaluated to neutral. 6. The extent of whole satisfaction for hospital. The mean extent of whole satisfaction for hospital was revealed 2.84 scores which is evaluated to neutral.

A Study on Marital satisfaction and Marital Stability by Level of Socio-Economic Status. (사회경제적 지위에 따른 결혼만족도와 결혼안정성에 관한 연구)

  • The objected of this study were to investigate how social class system influences family life, especially, marital relationship through area of marital satisfaction and marital stability and to find out influences of variables related to marital stability, that is, marital satisfaction, marital alternatives and barriers to marital breakup. The study was performed in a viewpoint of social exchange approach. Major findings were as follows; First, husbands and wive's marital satisfaction and marital stability differed significantly by their level of SES. The marital satisfaction scores and the marital stability score of higher class were higher than those of lower class. second, the higher the marital satisfaction scores and the barriers to marital breakup scores were, the higher the marital stability scores were. And the higher the marital alternatives scores were, the loser the marital stability scores were. Third, the independent influences of variables related to marital stability were differed by level of SES. The last, the typology of marital satisfaction and marital stability differed by level of SES. In lower class, the marriage type of low satisfaction and low stability is more than other types. But in middle and upper class, the most marriage type is high satisfaction and high stability marriage.

The effects subjective fatigue symptoms to job satisfaction in Daejon city and south Chungcheong province of dental hygienists (대전·충남지역 치과위생사의 피로자각증상이 직무만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to investigate the complaint rates of subjective fatigue symptoms and the degree of job-satisfaction among dental hygienists based on their socio-demographic and job characteristics and to find out the factors related with subjective fatigue symptoms and job satisfaction. The study subjects were recruited from 274 dental hygienists who worked at dental hospitals and clinics in Daejon city and South Chungcheong Province during the period between Jan. 5 and Feb. 11, 2008. They were asked to complete the self-administered questionnaires asking about their socio-demographic characteristics. job characteristics. daily life styles, job satisfaction and subjective fatigue symptoms, and the major finding of the results were as follows : 1. The mean scores of job satisfaction were 3.12V0.47 of the total full scores(5.00). and the highest scores were in the sub-domain of interpersonal relationship. and the lowest scores were pay. The scores of job satisfaction by socio-demographic characteristics and daily life styles were not significantly differences, but in job characteristics, significantly increased with those feeling satisfied with their job. those with appropriate amount of duty amount, those free of jop autonomy, those feeling satisfied with their monthly income. satisfactory personal relations at work. 2. The mean scores of subjective fatigue symptoms were 27.6V10.9 of the total full scores(60.0), and the highest scores were in the sub-group of bodily projection of fatigue(Group III), and they were followed by difficulty in concentration(Group II). dullness and sleepness(Group I) in their decreasing order of magnitude. The scores of job satisfaction by socio-demographic characteristics and daily life styles were significantly increased with the group of lower age, the group of irregularly breakfast habit and the worse subjective health status. Based on job characteristics. the score of subjective fatigue symptoms were significantly increased with those group of lower clinical career and monthly income, those feeling unsatisfied with their job, those with inappropriate amount of duty amount. those satisfactory personal relations at work 3. The correlation of subjective fatigue symptoms with job satisfaction showed a negative correlation with rM-0.198(pM0.000), and job satisfaction were higher according to the lower subjective fatigue symptoms. The correlation among the scores of sub-domain of job satisfaction and the sub-group of subjective fatigue symptoms were significantly positive correlation. 4. The affecting factors of significance on job satisfaction included clinical career, duty amount salary satisfaction, with the explanatory power of 32.9%. Those on subjective fatigue symptoms included the eucation and the subjective health statuts, with the explanatory power of 20.8%. When considering these results, the job-satisfaction and the subjective fatigue symptoms were significantly correlated with the job related factors than factors of socio-demographic characteristics and daily life styles. In addition. if job environments of dental hygienist can improved. their job-satisfaction and subjective fatigue symptoms are suggested to be betters.

The Relationship between Food and Labor Expense, Profit Margin, and Customer Satisfaction within University Union Foodservice Operations in Korea

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an effective cost control model for university foodservice operations by analyzing student satisfaction, as well as foodservice income statements for operational characteristics. The specific objectives were to examine the satisfaction of students for various foodservice quality dimensions, to determine the financial activities performed in foodservice operations by operational type, to examine their income statement data, and lastly, to compare the student satisfaction for foodservice quality with the financial data of the income statements. A total of 545 students from one university answered a satisfaction survey. The one-year income statements of three union foodservices (self-operated, small-scale contracted, and large-scale contracted) at the same university were analyzed. The results showed that the self-operated union foodservice had lower student satisfaction scores and higher food and labor cost ratios. The small-scale contract management foodservice data indicated the highest student satisfaction scores and the lowest food and labor cost ratios. The large-scale contract management foodservice data showed medium scores when comparing the three union foodservice operations. Overall, by comparing the satisfaction scores and operational profits, the small-scale union foodservices showed the highest satisfaction scores and profit.

Determinants of Multidimensional Outcomes of Patient Satisfaction in Operated Cataract Patients (백내장 환자의 수술후 진료만족도의 다면적 평가와 결정요인)

  • This study was to compare multidimensional outcomes of patient's satisfaction after cataract surgery and to identify factors influencing satisfaction after operation. Patient's satisfaction was measured with three dimensions : interpersonal care, physician explanation and hospital care. Overall satisfaction was measured as means of three dimensional scores. For the study, a prospective study was performed with 389 patients who had undergone cataract surgery for either one eye or both eyes. The surgery was performed by 20 ophthalmologists who were practicing at university hospitals and general hospitals. Patients were interviewed and clinical data (the visual acuity of operated eye, visual function, symptom score and satisfaction with vision) were obtained. The doctors were questioned with self-reported questionnaire forms. Medical records were also examined to understand surgery Process. The survey was conducted before(389) and after operation(327). Alter excluding cases with incomplete data, 3n cases were enrolled In this study. Both the overall satisfaction and the satisfaction with physician explanation increased after the operation whereas the satisfaction with interpersonal care and hospital care did not change significantly. Multiple regression analysis showed that the level of education, baseline satisfaction scores and the degree of vision improvement were statistically significant variables. The preoperative lower level of education, higher level of overall satisfaction (interpersonal care, physician explanation, hospital care scores) and the more the satisfaction with vision improvement were associated with the improvement of postoperative satisfaction scores.

A Measurement of Competition Power of Administration Service in Korean Seaports: DEA Approach (국내항만의 행정서비스 경쟁력측정:DEA접근)

  • The purpose of this paper is to measure the competition power of administration service in Korean Seaports by using the scores of customer satisfaction for administration service investigated yearly from 2000 to 2003 by Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Fisheries. And also, this paper shows the competition power of Korean seaports in terms of efficiency by using DEA(data envelopment analysis) method after measuring the change of productive efficiency scores subject to including and excluding the scores of customer satisfaction for administration service as output variable. The empirical main results of this paper are as follows: First, the efficiency scores of the Ports of Donghae, Gunsan, Jeju, Yeosu, Masan, and Pohang have worsened if the customer satisfaction score is excluded as output variable. Therefore these ports have been influenced by the score of customer satisfaction more positively. Second, the changes of the ranking order by measuring the average efficiency scores of each ports subject to including and excluding the scores of customer satisfaction for administration service as output variable are as follows: Busan(9-->7), Incheon(6-->6), Yeosu(1-->4), Gwangyang(4-->3), Masan (10-->9), Ulsan(5-->5), Donghae(8-->11), Gusan(12-->12), Mogpo(3-->2), Pohang(11-->10), Jeju(7-->8), Daesan(2-->1).

Marital Conflict and Life Satisfaction in Aged Couples (노년기 부부의 갈등과 생활만족도)

  • The purposes of this study were to find the general trends of aged couples' marital conflict, life satisfaction, and to examine relationships between husbands' marital conflict, life satisfaction and those of wives, and to investigate effective variables influencing on their life satisfaction. The subjects were the 218 couples over 60 years old living in Gwangju. Trained researchers interviewed the subjects with structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed with mean, sd, Cronbach' α, paired-t test, Pearson's correlation and Hierarchical Regression using SAS program. The major findings were as follows; 1. The marital conflict scores of husbands and wives were lower than median and wives' marital conflict scores were higher than those of husbands. The average scores of life satisfaction were higher than median and Husbands achieved higher scores in life satisfaction than wives. 2. Husbands' marital conflict and life satisfaction were positively related to those of wives. 3. Husbands' life satisfaction was influenced by health, self-esteem, filial support, acquaintances' support, marital conflict. Wives' life satisfaction was influenced by income, health, marital intimacy, filial support, acquaintances' support, marital conflict. Spouses marital conflict was significantly effective variable to wives' life satisfaction, but no significant to husbands'.

Study on Consumer Counselors' Work Performance, Satisfaction and Willingness to Sustain the Work (소비자상담사의 업무수행, 만족도 및 업무지속의사에 대한 연구)

  • This research examined the work performance by consumer counselors, evaluations of their counseling work, the level of their satisfaction, and willingness to sustain consumer counseling work among Consumer Agencies and also identified the variables influencing the evaluation scores on those. The results were summarized as follows. First, the evaluation scores on the work performance of consumer counseling were generally high and they turned out to be generally satisfied with their work. On the other hand, most counselors responded that they would continue their counseling work. Second, there were differences in evaluation scores about speed and specialized area of counseling among Consumer Agencies. Counselors who worked for the Korea Consumer Protection Board recorded high scores in those both criteria. There were differences in the willingness of counselors to continue their counseling work among Consumer Agencies, too. Third, the evaluation scores in six areas of counseling tasks were high when the degree of satisfaction of counselors were high or when agencies treated the counseling important. Fourth, when counselors earned more salaries and owned the experience of in-firm training and when the Consumer Agencies highly valued counseling as consumer tasks, the degree of satisfaction among counselors increased. Finally, when counselors were old, major in consumer science, and held regular work-schedule, they exhibited high degree of satisfaction in their counseling work and they showed greater willingness to sustain their counseling work.
