Direct Care Stress and Job Satisfaction in Home Care Nurses (가정전문간호사의 직접간호업무 스트레스와 직무만족도)

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to investigate direct care stress and job satisfaction in home care nurses. Method: Subjects were 139 home care nurses of hospitals in urban cities. Data was collected by a self report questionnaire. Direct care stress was measured by Community Health Nurses Perceptions of Work-Related Stressors Questionnaire. Job satisfaction was measured by a visual analogue scale. Results: The average score of direct care stress was 60.4. There were significantly high direct care stress in those who had less than that 3 years experience than in their counterparts. The average score of job satisfaction was 79.5. There were significant high job satisfaction in those who willingly chose to work. Direct care stress negatively correlated with the length of office experience of the home care nurse. Conclusion: A direct care educational program should be developed for those who have less than 3 years experience to decrease their stress level.

A study of Nursing care need and the patient's satisfaction level of the nursing care in the emergency department (응급실 환자의 간호 요구도 및 만족도 분석)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to analyze the nursing care needs which can properly cope with patients' needs in emergency room, and grasp the patients' satisfaction level which can assess the care quality. It was aimed to check the level of today's care and provide basic data for care performance and care standard. Method : Data were collected from 192 patients in general hospitals in Daegu. The results are as followed. Results : First, the result of analysis conducted on the degree of overall patients' need for nursing care revealed that the need for nursing information (4.21+57) was the highest, followed by the order of information of patient's condition (4.05+53), emotional support (3.98+47), and nursing participation (3.65+54). Secondly, our study revealed that there was a significant negative correlat interrelation between care need and care satisfaction (r=.516, p<.01), indicating the higher the overall emergency room patients' nursing care need, treatment and nursing information, patient's condition, emotional support and nursing participation were, the lower the actual feeling of their satisfaction turned out. Conclusion : The study shows that treatment and nursing related information is the most highly needed and the patients' satisfaction level relies on actual care participation.

Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care in the Center for Emergency Medicine (응급 간호 서비스에 대한 환자만족도)

  • Purpose: To examine patient satisfaction with nursing care and the difference of patient satisfaction by the characteristics of emergency care service in the center for emergency medicine. Method: We surveyed 145 patients who visited Pusan-Wide Emergency Medical Center from Nov 01, 2003 to Nov 30, 2003. Patient satisfaction was assessed by asking patients and medical records reviewed to obtain the characteristics of emergency care service. Results: The mean score of patient satisfaction with nursing care was 3.12. For patient satisfaction, 'The nurse seemed earnestly concerned about my pain, fear, and anxiety' represented highest score (3.58). Patient satisfaction according to the general characteristics of patients was revealed as significantly high for the higher educated and the older. Patient satisfaction by the characteristics of emergency care service was significantly higher in no-wait group. Conclusion: Also, the fundamental of nursing, like respect for human, was maintained in emergency setting, the hospital's administration has implemented service for a high level of satisfaction with nursing care up to the expectations of the patients for with the staff and medical equipment.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine satisfaction with counseling in long-term care service, and to compare the scores of counseling satisfaction according to variables among beneficiaries of Korean long-term care services. Methods: Questionnaires were completed by 445 beneficiaries of long-term care insurance to measure satisfaction with counseling. Research design was cross-sectional descriptive design. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA for evaluating differences in satisfaction with counseling according to variables including economic status, the level of long-term care insurance approval, duration of long term care service, and conditions of counseling. Results: The score of satisfaction with counseling was somewhat high as 71.67. The score of counselor's attitude was highest among the subcategories of satisfaction. The factors that influenced satisfaction with counseling were frequency and time of counseling (F=12.19, p<.001). Conclusion: Home-based individual counseling is necessary for the elderly who need long-term care service. The National Long-term Care Insurance Corporation should offer counseling and assistance to elders and their caregivers about long term care insurance.

The Study on Job Satisfaction of Care Helpers (요양보호사의 직무만족도에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate Job Satisfaction of Care Helpers. Method: Subjects included 306 Care Helpers. working at geriatric care facilities; these data were collected from May 4 to May 15, 2012. The SPSS WIN 12.0 program was used for statistical analysis of collected data, including actual number, percentage, average, standard deviation, t-test, one way ANOVA, and Cronbach alpha coefficient. Results: 1. The average Job satisfaction was 3.76 and the average of each job satisfaction was the task (3.83), co-worker (2.23), and job turn over (2.25). 2. The satisfaction of the job itself, depending on back ground, had a significantly effect on age, protective person for a day, duty pattern, contract pattern, and motive. 3. The job satisfaction of human relationships, depending on their back ground, had a significant effect on degree, care-giving experience, duty place, protective person for a day, duty pattern, contract pattern, and duty motive. 4. The Job satisfaction of job turn over, depending on back ground had an. effect on job satisfaction statistically: age, degree, duty place, protective person for a day, duty pattern, and motive. Conclusion: These results found showed to contribute to job satisfaction of care helpers.

Child Care Teacher's Job Satisfaction and Self-Esteem (보육교사의 직무만족도와 자아존중감)

  • This study examined the child care teachers' job satisfaction in relation to their self-esteem and the differences in their job satisfaction by demographic variables. Subjects were 285 child care teachers in Chungnam province. The instruments were 'Teachers' Job Satisfaction Scale' and 'Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale'. The collected data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, stepwise multiple regression(forward), Duncan test for a post hoc test, Cronbach's a for reliability, and factor analysis by SPSS PC program(10.0 version). The results were as follows; first, child care teachers' job satisfaction and self-esteem were above average. Second, child care teachers' total job satisfaction was high in high school graduation and married status and their self-esteem was high in over 5 years career, married status, and over 40 years old. Third, the correlation coefficient was -.29 in relation of teacher's job satisfaction and self-esteem. Finally, teachers' self-esteem and demographic variables explained about 622%.

A Structural Equation Modeling Analysis of the Influence of Child Care Teachers' Job Satisfaction and Teacher-Parent Cooperation on Teacher-Child Interaction (보육교사의 직무만족도, 교사-부모 및 교사-유아 상호작용 간의 구조모형 분석)

  • Objective: This study examined the relationship between child care teachers'job satisfaction, teacher-parent partnership, and teacher- child interaction in order to improve the quality of child care. Methods: Self-report questionnaires were used on 321 child care teachers and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and Structural Equation Modeling Analysis. Results: First, significant correlations existed among variables except the relationship between payment/promotion and other variables. The results showed that child care teachers'job satisfaction had a significant and direct influence on teacher-child interaction, and teachers' job satisfaction was partially mediated by teacher-parent partnership on teacher-child interaction. Conclusion/Implications: The findings confirm that teachers' job satisfaction and teacher-parent partnership are preceding factors for positive teacher-child interaction. Significant attention should be paid to child care teachers'psychological satisfaction and teacher-parent relationships to promote the quality of child care and the positive interaction between teachers and children.

Educational Belief and Their Job Satisfaction of Day-Care Teachers (보육교사의 교육신념과 직무만족)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare overall educational belief and teacher's job satisfaction of day-care teachers. The subject of this were 112 day-care teachers in the Jeonbuk areas. The data were collected using Questionaries and analyzed by the statistical methods of frequencies, percentages, a Chi-square, ANOVA with SPSS pc program: The research Questions were as follows; 1. As the result of the investigation that what is the educational belief of the day-care theacher according to the marital status, academic background, the type of license, and the type of day-care centers\ulcorner 2. Is there any difference in teacher's job satisfaction of day-care teachers according to teachers education belief\ulcorner The main results of this study were as follows: 1. There was not difference in the teacher's educational belief of day-care teachers according to the marital status, academic background, the type of license, and the type of day-care centers in the Jeonbuk province. 2. Day-care teachers who have maturationism education belief was more than behaviorism education belief and interactionism education belief. 3. In the difference between teacher's belief of day-care teachers and job satisfaction of day-care teachers, the teacher who has interactionism, maturationism educationa belief has higher job satisfaction than the teacher who has behaviorism educational belief.

Comparing Satisfaction with Nursing Care and Factors Relevant to Hospital Revisit Intent among Hospitalized Patients in Comprehensive Nursing Care Units and General Care Units (포괄간호서비스 병동과 일반병동 입원 환자의 간호만족도와 병원재이용의도 영향요인 비교)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare hospitalized patients in comprehensive nursing care units and general care units as to satisfaction with nursing care and factors influencing their intent to revisit the hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 178 patients who had been hospitalized in a comprehensive nursing care unit and a general care unit in one hospital. Participants completed self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. Results: There was a significant difference between the comprehensive nursing care unit and general care unit for intent to revisit the hospital (p=.036). Factors influencing intent to revisit the hospital for patients in the comprehensive nursing care unit were 'satisfaction with nursing care' (p<.001) and 'use of additional costs for comprehensive nursing care' (p=.041). The factor influencing intent to revisit hospital for patients in the general care unit was 'satisfaction with nursing care' (p<.001). Conclusion: Findings indicate that comprehensive nursing care service in which all care is provided by nursing staff only, without family or private caregivers, increases intent to revisit the hospital. These results can be used as the foundation of reviewing the operation and expansion of comprehensive nursing care service.

A Study on Home Care Service and the Level of Client Satisfaction in Community (일 지역사회의 가정간호서비스 내용 및 만족도 조사)

  • Purpose : This study was done to examine the home care service provided by home care nurses and the level of client satisfaction in community. Method : Data were collected from 120 clients who received the home care service at the community home care service center in Pusan from 2th May. 2003 to 31th May 2003. The tool for measurement of satisfaction was composed of 16 items and was 4 score scale by Kim. Data were analyzed by using SPSS/WIN 10.5 program. Result: 1) 67.5% among 120 clients was over sixty years old and 30.6% of clients received home visits 20 times by home care nurse. 2) The total number of home care services was 15,783. And most of the clients received therapeutic nursing care. 3) The mean score of satisfaction on provided home care services was 3.31, among 16 items, "The home care nurses kept up the secret of patients and family" was the highest($3.67{\pm}0.48$). the total level of satisfaction of home care services was very high, with mean score $3.31{\pm}0.32$. Conclusion : The satisfaction level of home care services was very high. so we can expect that the prospect of home care services is very challengeable. Therefore we should try to expand the service recipients with promotional education to assure close ties with the public health centers for the continuous home care service linking and make more efforts to improve the quality of the service.
