The command processor in satellite handles the capability of the process of command transmitted from ground station and deliver the processed data to on board computer in satellite. The command processor is consisted of redundant box to increase the reliability and availability of the capability. At each command processor, the processing time of each command processor is different, so the mismatch of processing time makes it difficult to timely synchronize the reception to on board computer and even will be became worse under the command processor's fault. To minimize the tine loss induced by the command processor's fault on board computer must analyze the time distribution of command propagation. This paper presents the logic of minimizing the delay error of command propagation the logic of analyzing the output of command processor.
Satellite digital multimedia broadcasting (S-DMB) systems use gap fillers (GFs) to provide wireless multimedia services to non-line-of-sight locations. GFs act as repeaters, and S-DMB systems require GF networks in order to guarantee mobile reception. Each GF covers a cell or sector. In order to provide contiguous coverage of an area comprising two or more cells or sectors, multiple GFs are needed. However, when multiple GFs are situated close to each other, interference is likely to occur. As a result, in this study, we have investigated system-level environments for planning the design of interference-free GF networks in S-DMB systems. Our investigations revealed that S-DMB services are unavailable because of quality deterioration caused by interference when the delay attributable to a GF and the satellite signals exceeds ${\pm}$256 chips and the distance between the GF and its reception terminal is greater than 4.6 km. On the basis of this analysis, we conducted a field test that confirmed that the above-mentioned time delay can be controlled in such a way as to ensure high quality S-DMB services.
In urban areas it can be difficult to utilize global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) due to signal reflections and blockages. It is thus crucial to detect reflected or blocked signals because they lead to significant degradation of GNSS positioning accuracy. In a previous study, a classifier for global positioning system (GPS) signal reception conditions was developed using three features and the support vector machine (SVM) algorithm. However, this classifier had limitations in its classification performance. Therefore, in this study, we developed an improved machine learning based method of classifying GPS signal reception conditions by including an additional feature with the existing features. Furthermore, we applied various machine learning classification algorithms. As a result, when tested with datasets collected in different environments than the training environment, the classification accuracy improved by nine percentage points compared to the existing method, reaching up to 58%.
In this paper, a low-noise amplifier is designed and fabricated using the HJFET for the reception of the Ku-band satellite broadcast signals. The optimum input and output reflection coefficients of each amplifier stage are obtained by the trade-off between the stable gain and the noise figure circle. The amplifier performance is simulated and optimized using a microwave CAD software. The designed amplifier is fabricated and tested. Results of the test show a gain of 17.0 dB, a gain flatness of less than $\pm$2.BdB, the noise figure of less than 1.0 dB, and the input and output reflection coefficient of less than -10 dB.
The purpose of satellite navigation meaconing jamming is to make the target GPS receiver calculate false navigation by meaconing the received satellite signals. At this time, since the received and transmitted signals have the same frequency, the back-lobe reduction level of antenna should be -160 dB when the Effective Radiated Power (ERP) is 1 Watt (30 dBm). Therefore, meaconing jamming is impossible by merely reducing the back-lobe level of antenna when the transmitter and receiver are in proximity to each other. In general, the transmitter and receiver are isolated by the time division method to eliminate such transmission/reception interference. This paper studied the optimal switching timing between transmitting and receiving when isolating the time division transmission and reception for GPS meaconing jamming.
The Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite-2 (KOMPSAT -2) will be launched into a circular sun synchronous orbit in Dec. 2005. For the mission operation of the KOMPSAT-2 satellite, KARl Ground Station (KGS) consists of the Mission Control Elements (MCE), Image Reception & Processing Elements (IRPE) and the overseas stations. For the oversea stations, the Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) is the prime supplier of support service. KSAT has the capability to provide Tracking Telemetry and Commanding (TT&C) nominal, contingency and anomaly support for every single orbit for most polar orbiting satellites. Also KSAT provides nodal service through the network management functionality for all oversea ground stations. This paper describes the oversea stations and the support for Launch and nominal TT&C services for KOMPSAT-2 and the operation plan for KOMPSAT-2.

To promote academic researches on earth environment utilizing satellite data, research infrastructure such as satellite data reception processing, distribution and archival systems should be fully provided. The means to enhance the infrastructure were discussed by a working group and“Satellite Data Center via Network”has been proposed. This concept has three principles; (1) To realize necessary functions by organizing experts distributed all over Japan and connecting them by network, (2) To realize“Satellite Data Center via Network”for GMS and NOAA Satellites, which are widely used for research, and (3) Satellite data set oriented to specific research area should be generated by researchers having definite research purposes of sensor algorithms and hugh volume data processing. Utilization of the Science Information Network (SINET) has been discussed to realize this concept, and to accelerate this project an experiment“Network Utilization for Wide Area Use of Satellite Image Data”under“Cooperative Experiment on Multimedia Communication”has been introduced. And the roles of the Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo to contribute this project has been described.
