The TV Audience's Traits, Media Usage and the Adoption of the Satellite DMB : Focus on the Understanding and Evaluation of the Local TV Audience (시청자 특성, 미디어 이용과 위성 DMB의 수용 : 지역 시청자의 인식과 평가를 중심으로)

  • This study considered the factor of the adoption of the satellite DMB. This study focus on the TV audience's demographic traits and media usage. The results are follows : 1) the elder-aged group, high-educated group and car driver group have high intention to be subscriber for the satellite DMB service. 2) the white collar group and the middle income group have high intention to be subscriber for the satellite DMB service. 3) the many media use group and the many function use of mobile phone group have high intention to be subscriber for the satellite DMB service. 4) the local TV audience like the entertainment genre in video and audio service and the information genre in data service 5) the local TV audience don't mind of the re-transmission territorial broadcasting by the satellite DMB service.

Development of Mini-Weather Buoy (연근해용 소형기상관측부이의 개발)

  • The mini-weather buoy using newly developed Weather Observation Through Ambient Noise (WOTAN) technology is developed. The buoy uses the cellular phone system for communication between the mini-weather buoy and the receiving station. The developed mini-weather buoy was deployed near Kijang and the comparison with land observation station was good: the rms error for wind speed estimation from underwater ambient noise was about 1 m/s. The only shortcoming of developed mini-weather buoy is that the buoy must be within the range of the cellular phone system, but it can be easily solved when satellite phone system is available.

  • We have developed the convergence system that can control an appliance under ubiquitous circumstance. The system can display the GPS information received from the satellite, several control signal and mobile phone signal. In order to display the information between phone and the PC, we can control program command.

  • Recently, information communication technologies such as smartphone or mobile app greatly affect various application fields including geo-spatial domain. And development scheme of mobile web app or hybrid app regards as the most important computing technology which is combined each advantage of mobile app and mobile web. Despite these trends, it is general case that satellite images are used for the background image for other contents services. With this motivation, hybrid app for geo-metadata as the base for dissemination and service is designed and implemented as the prototype, in this study. At the design stage, HTML5, which is the core technology on an international standardization process for hybrid app, is applied. In the implementation, PhoneGap and Sencha Touch as mobile SDK(Software Development Kit) supporting HTML5 on cross-platform in open sources are used. In prototype, some KOMPSAT-2 images covering small area and mandatory elements in geo-metafata standard are tested. As mobile industry applications and business service models based on satellite images on mobile platform are progressing and diversifying, it is expected that this approach and implemented prototype are considered as an important reference.

  • This study designed and implemented a J2ME based on mapping viewer to browse the SVG based wireless-map in mobile phone. This proposed technique was efficiently applied to a forest fire extinguishment information management system by mapping the exact location of important objects on wireless-map in wireless network. As the result, the study helps to guide the safe and efficient extinguishment affairs and provides the safe extinguishment environment for ground fire fighting teams in real time. And also this technique presents the way to move the client mapping function such as representation of the moving coordinates to server and made it possible to operate SVG based viewer in personal cellular phone.

  • With the popularity of smart phones and the help of high-speed wireless communication technology, high-quality multimedia contents have become common in mobile devices. Especially, the release of Oculus Rift opens a new era of virtual reality technology in consumer market. At the same time, 3D audio technology which is currently used to make computer games more realistic will soon be applied to the next generation of mobile phone and expected to offer a more expansive experience than its visual counterpart. This paper surveys concepts, algorithms, and systems for modeling 3D sound virtual environment applications. To do this, we first introduce an important design principle for audio rendering based on physics-based geometric algorithms and multichannel technologies, and introduce an audio rendering pipeline to a scene graph-based virtual reality system and a hardware architecture to model sound propagation.

Because of these characteristics, suitable lectures are provided to mobile device. especially, in Korea Cyber University already had built a lot of infrastructures.   • CanSat Competition has been annually held in South Korea since 2012 to give students an opportunity for better understanding of system design and operation processes of satellite. SCSky CanSat(Smart Call from the Sky Can Satellite) proposed in this study is a name of CanSat that was participated in 2016 CanSat competition. Its main mission objective is to obtain flight imaging data of inside and outside the CanSat through the video call using on-board smart phone in the CanSat. To implement this mission, we developed a remote touch system using SMA(Shape Memory Alloy) wire. In addition, a wide scan camera mechanism using SMA spring was developed to obtain ground imaging data during the mission. This study introduced the mission of the SCSky CanSat, as well as the description of on-board payloads, system design results, and flight test results.

  • The emergence of cable TV, satellite broadcasting and IPTV provides viewers with a variety of TV programs. However, viewers' desire for watching their favorite TV program at convenient time has increased because of insufficient spare time. As an increase in smart phone market has accelerated an entry into "the age of smart network media" since 2009, mobile media suggests services connected to other digital devices. Recently, there has been growing interest in TV controling system of smart phone. Therefore, the present study aims to provide an concept of the smart phone application which recommends contents of TV program by analyzing personal watching pattern. To suggest detailed direction of the interaction and UI design, we analyzed previous research and examples of TV controlling applications and products. In addition, public opinion survey was carried out to rationalize this study and suggest suitable UI structure.

  • As the age of smart device has come, recently many application services related to smart phone are developing. The LBS(Location Based Service) technique is considered as one of the most important techniques to support location based application services. Usually the smart phone acquires the information of position by using the position recognition systems and sensors such as GPS(Global Positioning System) and G-Sensor. However, since the GPS signal from the satellite can hardly be received in the indoor environments, new LBS techniques for the indoor environment are required. In this paper, to solve the problem a position information transceiver using LED lights and smart phone camera sensor is proposed. We proved the possibility of the proposed positioning system through the experiments in the laboratory for the practical verification.
